Bowie was right though - every tour he went on, every album he made, lots of money went to other people. It's an irony that, because of his continued talent (and fame of course), he never majorly fell in to the financial depression that might have made him or others acutely realise that Bowie was very self made, aside from his influences. That makes him working class (if he wishes it to) no matter what his wealth.

He had no other choice really.
In the early 70s musicians like T Rex were paying 95% tax.
Status Quo were with Pye records and were getting 1/2 of 1p royalties per album. A lot of people make fun of Quo but they we’re making an album a year and selling 4 - 5 million copies and had the most appearances on Top of the Pops as they had so many top 10 hits and constantly touring.

Chris Evans was and is a genius, from the beginning and big breakfast to the absolute perfection that was tfi Friday it was 1 hell of a ride through the 90s. (amazed he survived it all tbh)

Watching this you can sense Bowie is a special human being. When you compare his aura to an average bloke like Chris Evans you can feel the genius and stardust about him.
