He was a genuinely funny guy, warm, sociable and didn't have any airs or graces. Just down to earth. Not to mention a fantastic song writer and artist. He didn't follow trends, he set them. His music will live on forever.
Very true. It's noticeable how much happier and more friendly he became after he and Iman got together. It's really sweet to see that it changed him for the better.
I miss David Bowie so much...this interview was brilliant. How poignant that he said he had given up drink and drugs but still smoked. What a loss for us all 😢
"I didn't know that the rich people have got it all blocked off" I love that even as a multi millionaire rockstar - he still doesn't consider himself one of the "rich people" once a working class boy, always a working class boy :-) x
Bowie was right though - every tour he went on, every album he made, lots of money went to other people. It's an irony that, because of his continued talent (and fame of course), he never majorly fell in to the financial depression that might have made him or others acutely realise that Bowie was very self made, aside from his influences. That makes him working class (if he wishes it to) no matter what his wealth.
@@steffanhoffmann8937 He was living in California snd financially ruined. In the 70s musicians in UK paid over 90% tax. He had no other choice really. In the early 70s musicians like T Rex were paying 95% tax. Status Quo were with Pye records and were getting 1/2 of 1p royalties per album. A lot of people make fun of Quo but they we’re making an album a year and selling 4 - 5 million copies and had the most appearances on Top of the Pops as they had so many top 10 hits and constantly touring. Would you move to Switzerland 🇨🇭 or allow the government to take 95% after getting screwed by nasty record companies. I would tell UK to stuff it.

I don't think any other star at his level, except probably McCartney, would be such good fun. When Bowie has the right interviewer, he can be completely mad. And then he'll have someone like Russell Hart or Terry Wogan and he'll be completely aloof.
Dude - In fairness, Paul McCartney was never the most dynamic personality. A great musical talent? Yes. But not entertaining and likeable in the same way Bowie was. I would say John Lennon was more in line with Bowie. A free creative spirit. Anyhow. It's quite sad watching this. Realising what we have lost.

The rambling story he tells about watching Brooke Shields movies in Indonesia is a true story - apparently it happened on the holiday he took with Iggy after the Serious Moonlight tour, and it inspired the song 'Tumble And Twirl' from the Tonight album.
