I remember when lyn was just that one lord. Now she became really popular thanks to *fan service* but then again here sol katti animation is now considered fan service.
Lyn is far from unpopular in Japan... But let's say her popularity was slow burning, she originally was a bit mixed around the Lords in Japan popularity-wise (unlike the West where she was almost always considered the most popular Lord alongside Hector before the arrival of Ike.); in Japan her popularity mostly exploded recently... Lyn took a bit of advantage on how one of the first big games the franchise had in Japan since the freaking SNES Era was a legacy collection (Awakening); but it's also took advantage of some things that were done specifically to appeal to the western market; with the oldest one being Lyn's appearance in Brawl, which I'm sure was a boom at the time for the creation of Lyn fan art (BTW, this is the reason why Lyn's japanese voice is Kirby).
Blame the fans who’ve made fan art of her to further push the fan service angle. Whether it’s SFW or NSFW. IS is just following what the fans want. And they want sexy Lyn.
@FireFury190 sums it up well here. the fans are making an active role in why this is happening. Lyn is almost always just as busty and curvy in fanart, oftentimes more.
@GilArcher Of course you can. Who said you couldn't? Do you think the large amounts of lewd fanart of characters like Samus, Zelda, and practically every female Pokemon character ever have completely changed their characters' to be more fanservicy? No. Ultimately it's just silly decisions made by IS that don't really need to happen. Fans have their own fun head canons but that doesn't always mean it should leak into the main source material.
Lyn is one of my favorite lords. The gameplay of her mode is shit for anyone who's played a Fire Emblem game before, but the story is pretty damned awesome. It tells a story we basically never get to see in Fire Emblem: a story with low, but _personal_ stakes. Lyn is barely even a hero. She's a teenage orphan on a road trip with some ragtag strangers to meet the grandfather she just learned she still has. No other Fire Emblem game has told a story _anything_ like that. And it's also the first story in the series that does... much of anything with the actual storytelling part of the story. Lyn interacts with way more people than just an advisor, and something interesting storywise happens in basically every chapter. You could turn this story into a miniseries and there's enough material there to make each chapter into a full episode with a little expansion and imagination.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter Yeah, honestly, it wasn't until recently that I appreciated most of this. You have to play the first six games to really process how much 7, and especially Lyn Mode, blows them all out of the water when it comes to how it tells its story. And honestly, I think Lyn mode is more fun on normal, where you get those little extra bits of character dialogue. Really, I think the FE7 generation of Fire Emblem newcomers got the warmest welcome of any generation ever. They pulled out all the stops to make sure we knew everything we needed to while still being engaged.
Honsetly I love it. I started with Awakening and to be blunt, had severe whiplash with how seriously that game ups the stakes but then tries to "reduce" the stakes with it's comedy. (Such as Virion's introduction.) Fe7 was the first FE game I played alot of (Since long story short, I don't really like Awakening so I couldn't bring myself to play more after roughly chapter 5.) and I loved how Lyn mode wasn't some SAVE THE WORLD adventure but actually a rather ultimately small personal tale like you said with a few hints on the Ninian/Nils side of things that there's more going on behind the scenes. Yeah it still ends up that way but there's actual build-up, even when you get to Eliwood/Hector mode it's a good bit before you find out just how serious the events are.
I also feel this. If FE were going to get, like, a short form anime or something, I feel like Lyn mode would work the best. It could easily be made into a 12-episode series without too much needing to be added or modified. I’ve always kind of felt like Fire Emblem should try to do a more personal story again. I liked what Echoes did with trying to portray the cast (especially the Act 1 crew) as really tight-knit and involving them all in main story dialogue; maybe something like that combined with lower stakes could lead to something like a modern day Lyn mode. Where the party travels around solving smaller incidents en route to a goal of personal significance to the protagonist but ultimately minor in the grand scheme of things.
@@SuperZez There is no way that Lyn's story mode blows someone like Leif's entire journey out of the water. You can like Lyn all you want but when it comes to her story, it's just Lyn's story with characters that her story don't even explain at all. You cant tell me that her story explains who is Florina, Matthew, Serra, Erk, Rath ect. Leif's story is one of the best written stories this franchise has ever told. Hell, someone like Hardin or Renault who is from the same game as Lyn, has a better story than Lyn's. Hardin showing a good story of unrequired love and Renault being one of the most "realistic" characters this franchise as ever produced by telling you the consequences of human actions. Killing a little boy's father in front of his eyes (Lucius) and losing his best friend to the point of working together with the enemy (Nergal), just to bring him back, in the end just realizing the mistake that he did + trying to give advice to a soldier (Isadora) that is suffering but only telling her to stay in doubt...…...because it makes you human.
Did you know Lyn's main weapon is a sword? The FEH devs don't. I understand alts change up weapons but she's used a bow 3 times and her signature sword once. Legendary Lyn really should have just used an enhanced Sol Katti instead, especially since the other fe7 legendary lords use their main weapons. You don't see legendary Hector with a sword just because he can use those, he's the opposite using Armads 3 times.
I'd give a lot for another sword Lyn already, (duo hero with Rath/Kent/Florina perhaps?) Kinda weird she's constantly with a bow when Mulagir isn't even in FE7, Lyn isn't a direct descendant of Hannon like Sue and Rath and she's probably the least useful archer in FE7, making a much better melee unit.
A lot of alternate versions of heroes had weapons and unit types that has nothing to do with the original, not just Lyn. They made my boy Xander a kimono dancer using daggers for the new year event, and a nudist axe user for summer. Even Hector had a spear version
Les contes d'Alvis Not for legendary alts though. Lyn's the odd one out there. Edit: I forgot legendary Lucina even existed. She's bad and inaccurate too.
@@Superluigi881 The legendary heroes are not canon, they are supposed to be versions from alternative time lines or from after the war in their respective story. Many of them have unique weapons that have nothing to do with the original, because reasons. Camilla with a staff, Lucina with a bow, Hector with a spear... The vanilla version of the characters is the one wich is supposed to be close to the original.
Les contes d'Alvis pretty sure the next Legendary heroes will change the canon/non canon Legendary hero balance. All 3 3H lords’s canon post time skip alt are pretty much confirmed to be Legendaries. When it comes to the already existing LH, Legendary Ike was the first canon Hero, while Eliwood and Hector are just the original artist’s version of the original non Legendary versions (design wise). Then we have Legendary Grima who is either a what if alt or canon (I don’t know much about it).
I thought avatarsexual was meant to refer to characters that could only support with the avatar. Like Emmeryn, Aversa, Walhart, Reina, Gangrel, Fuga, etc.
again, more on "the term has lost what it orignally meant" I've heard it used that way too, but generally it's used to refer to characters like Camilla and Tharja nowadays.
@@dededeletethis9940 i found the term Player Exclusive to be more fitting, altough im curious if characters like Say´ri or Anna could be accounted for those?, I mean, yeh, they can only S support with the avatar ingame (heroes appart) but they´re not closed to social interactions outside the supports, and they also have Tikki, so...
Great Video. It was insightful, but it also has the funny moments. Didn't feel like 30 minutes to me. And y'know that I'm also waiting for that cuboon Shamir.
I want to make a joke but I'm just kind of sad now that there is definitive proof this is how Lyn has been handled so far. Just hope it gets dialed back moving forward, an FE7 remake should it happen I pray on Saint Elimine's corpse returns to Lyn's roots in characterization, and probably design. They can keep it up a bit if they really want to, if they're standardizing her age as being the oldest of the lords, just don't escalate it anymore. This was a very informative video, I'm glad to have watched it. Can't believe it was 30 minutes, it almost feels like the rabbit hole hasn't been scratched, yet.
Yeah, it's kind of a downer video despite the ridiculousness of it all when you realize what's actually going on behind the scenes. Despite my findings, Lyn's proportions are still pretty reasonable (barring cuboon) and as long as cuboon isn't the key artist for an FE7 remake I don't think they'll push much further, plus, some women are just naturally busty, a fact I neglected to mention in the video in hindsight. Lyn's definetely going to stay aged up i think and that's very much a good thing for FE7 thematically. On the other hand, I'm willing to bet money they make mark playable and Lyn romanceable; possibly toning up the "avatarsexuality" my hope is with a remake what made Lyn great in the first place can be reintroduced in full force.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter >On the other hand, I'm willing to bet money they make mark playable and Lyn romanceable; possibly toning up the "avatarsexuality" Well. As one of those people who ship Mark and Lyn(and IS actually sometimes love adding her already classic "searching quest for certain tactician"). I would actually glad if they give Lyn and Mark well written support option, despite this whole "avatarsexuality" and fanservice purpose and. P.S. Sorry if my english is bad and i made some mistakes.
While it is concerning where Lyn has been going as a character, I’m still optimistic about how her character will be presented in a possible remake. Just look at the FF7 Remake, many of those iconic characters were often included in spinoffs and cameos with gradual but noticeable differences from the original game, but the Remake managed to keep true to how they originally were. So, I’ll hold out hope.
Hopefully they can pull it off, Echoes and 3H are indicative that we're trending back to more mature storytelling with characters that have depth beyond their quirks.
I discovered Lyn very recently, from watching her critical animations in FE7. Until this video, I had no idea she was sexualised, or that she even used a bow. I thought she was sword-locked. Creating holograms and slashing the hell out of her opponent like a Myrmidon, but as a Lord? That’s really cool. She kind of reminds me of Sacred Stones’ Joshua. Lyn is the reason I want to play The Binding Blade. She seems absolutely, freaking badass. I like fanservice, but it’s kind of sad that it seems to have consumed her character.
Am I the only one that really didn't see a significant difference between Lyn's proportions? I actually went into this video thinking that her proportions were indeed becoming exaggerated in more recent art, but this video showing everything side by side actually convinced me the opposite, that it's staying pretty consistent. I realized that Lyn was actually bustier in her original art than I remembered. Even if the upward trend is true, your graph's gentle slope really wasn't very staggering. Like I'm looking pretty hard, and looking between the artwork I think her bust and thighs really don't change much. Most differences can be attributed to art style, posing, angle, and just the fact that they are different pieces of art and inherently won't be the same. I think the only difference is that they're now drawing more attention to her feminine features. But just because she's in skimpy clothing doesn't mean her boobs are actually different. I know you made the volume metric, but that doesn't change my experience of just looking at her and not seeing significant differences. Like.... boobs do weird optical things. My girlfriend's boobs seem to fluctuate between like three cup sizes depending on the day. I'm sure this all has to do with her pose, the angle I'm looking at her from, what she's wearing (including of course the kind of bra she has on which can really change it), and even fluctuations in hormones can literally change their size sometimes. Now I'm not trying to say that IS thought of all of those things, but looking at these different pieces of artwork, imo they're within the range of what one women's breasts can look like (and I know I've been focusing on the boobs but this goes for the other stuff too). Incidentally, I was actually hoping you'd mention the fact that IS is parading Lyn around in increasingly fan service oriented clothing. I'm really surprised this didn't really come up in your half hour long video. I think there's a much bigger discussion there. I don't personally have a problem with it because that's just the nature of these spin off games and that's kind of what they're for. I would have a problem if it was in her original game though. I can't believe how long this got. Maybe I'm just blind and totally off base, but I just don't see these inconsistencies you're talking about. At least nothing that's not negligible. For what it's worth, I went to art school and I've studied anatomy. But you and a lot of positive comments here seem to disagree with me so 🤷♀️
At 11:38 you lay them all out. This is where i was really like "wait a minute...." If you ask me, her "features" in the Valentine's and summer artworks actually look *smaller* than in her original, despite the fact that it's much more revealing clothing. Am I crazy? I can't be the only one seeing this.
The valentines proportions certainly look bigger than her normal ones, especially in her neutral artwork (which I didn't include initially since I couldn't get a thigh measurement) as for summer Lyn it's arguably the closest to Lyn's FE7 proportions, and again, VERY different artstyle, so it was hard to judge. Thank you for the in-depth critique by the way, it's cool that you disagree because you laid out a bunch of legitimate points, I think If I could go back to this video I'd talk more about pose and clothing choice, because FE7 Lyn would NEVER wear a big poofy dress like she has in 2 of her alts. And normal Lyn in heroes is in a pose that by design accentuates her breasts just based on framing. you make a lot of good points here, unfortunately I'm single so it was largely impossible to consult a woman I trusted about this video and I wasn't going to wait until I was in a relationship just so I could make myself slightly more informed; when I could easily lose passion for this project and scrap it by then. Thank you for the comment!
@@ZerkMonsterHunter I'm glad you enjoyed my comment because I meant absolutely no offense. Your video was good! And my intention with my comment was just to give you my experience for whatever it's worth. Whether I'm right or wrong about the representation of Lyn's body, i think your points about her personality are legitimate. I think one could argue that the degradation of her personality is only present in these spin offs and doesn't matter that much, but I still think it's an important discussion to have, especially when she's getting it worse than other characters. Oh yeah, but you don't need to look at boobs in real life to see what I'm talking about. Look up pictures of a model or a porn star in different poses and you should be able to see what i mean (best research ever right haha). I should mention that breasts tend to fluctuate more when they are *ahem*, on the bigger side. Generally starting with the C or D cup range (though breast measurements are confusing and that's a whole other can of worms, lol). You should especially notice that when laying down breasts tend to look way smaller, and when on all fours breasts look a lot bigger. Or when women wear dresses that reveal cleavage they might be doing things to push up their breasts and make them look bigger. You can look up pictures of renaissance festival women for examples of that, lol. One could argue that's a factor in Lyn's Valentine's artwork. But again, i feel kinda silly trying to defend fan service like this lol. As if IS put this much thought into the anatomy of Lyn's boobs. But to me they haven't crossed a line yet in terms of Lyn's actual body. But the clothing and personality we can definitely talk about. Anyway i think ive rambled enough lol. Again I appreciate that you were receptive to my comment! Keep up the good work! I hope to see more vids like this in the future!
So... Did you have to do multiple takes for the "measurements" you made, because you laughed at the absurdity of what you were describing? I really hope you did lol
Personally, I don't think Lyn's story ends after her story arc. But actually continues in the background of the main story arc that's only seen through her various support conversations and snippets of dialogue. Which actually makes it feel more real. Just because the hero slays the villain, they don't automatically get a happily ever after. If you don't care for her, then you can ignore it. But her story is prolly one of the best in fe7, alongside Nergal's own story.
I wasn't implying it was over, Lyn certainly has more growing to do as a person, it's just the growth she undergoes doesn't pertain to the main conflict, so her shuffling into the background as a supportive role makes complete sense and is 100% intentional, and i don't understand why people get mad about it and say she's irrelevant to the main story when that's kinda by design.
This was an interesting watch and humorously I found it just as I'm starting a run of FE7 where I aim to make Lyn as strong as possible. We'll see how that goes. As someone who enjoys drawing I can't fault artists for wanting to draw a character in such a way so that they are percieved as attractive at the same time however I don't think you need to resort to excessive bustinness to make them desireable, personally I'm partial to strong thicc thighs........ like Chun Li........anyway. Lyn is a great character and I think if I met somone like Lyn in real life we would get along very well, while Lyn is not my favourite female lord in the series she is one I have a strong liking for and while Heroes has sadly skewered the perception of Lynn to many she is still an excellent character that I like and I'm glad she has gotten the love she has. Now I did not get into Heroes until a few years into it's lifespan so most of the Lyns were already there when I got in, at the time the focus seemed to be on Camillan and Azura. People will self ship with any character they fall in love with regardless of fanservice design I personally wouldn't self ship with Lyn but I have thought that a fic with interactions between Ike (my favorite lord) and Lyn would be very interesting and I think those two would share a lot in common. I can understand the writers paying homage to FE7 but I do hope that Lyn remains the strong, proud woman of Sacae that we know and doesn't become someone who exists purely for fanservice and player shipping purposes. Those factors can be fun and nothing wrong with them but I hope that the art design choices of artists and the joking of writers doesn't change what Lyn has always been. This could be due to that Fire Emblem Blazing Blade is one of the most popular and played of the GBA titles, while currently many started with Awakening and Fates there are also many who either started with Lyn's game or went back to play it and the popularity of that game could also be at fault to an extent. Lyn is great and under current circumstances I've been playing a lot of FE7 lately and have been enjoying Lyn and her friends and comrades a lot. Thanks for this video Zerk keep doing what you're doing.
I am simultaneously amused by your **intense measuring** and saddened by the simplification of Lyn's character. She had a lot of good support conversation partners in FE7... I wasn't aware of the trend since I haven't been tried out FE:H, but this kind of solidified my disinterest in it.
Yeh, lyn’s... attachment to the avatar kind of went overboard (along with her design change). Good job showing the change! (I don’t know why, but I feel like Lyn’s desire for revenge should be mentioned more often, even if it isn’t a too major part of her motivation. It’s just unusual for a Lord to have that motivation.)
well, she kinda gets revenge on Lundgren, her motivation against bandits is also something i think mellowed with age in her from full blown John wick vengeance to deep-seated resentment she mostly internalizes. it's an interesting way to develop her character IMO.
I don't really like Lyn as a character but this analysis is very interesting, it's weird how they change a character so much because to please certain fans
@@ZerkMonsterHunter And I completely understand why now, they're not even changing her character but giving so much focus to one thing she did before and forgetting everything else, just to appeal to the "waifu" side of her
I enjoyed this, and it was nice seeing an analysis like this reaffirming what i thought in an interesting manner. Lyn has always been one of my favorite characters in the series (her OG personality, gameplay mechanic wise, and outfit/weapons), and your thoughts and commentary on this really hit home. If we ever do get a FE7 remake, (which i would love that and a FE6 remake as well) that they stay true to her original character design in her personality. As you said, compelling characters can be appealing,. but without it, she's just not the same.
No matter what they do with her, she will always be my fav character, She will always be that Lovable and kind girl i met on the plains. While I do enjoy how they draw her (yes I love cuboon) I just hope it doesnt go too too far at least.
I think they can only push it so far before it just becomes not Lyn. I never adressed it in the video but I'm very personally conflicted, on the one hand I want Lyn to be well-represented, but I also fall into the demographic of people who would donate to a Lyn onlyfans, so it's hard for me to take a stance on the changes until they push the line too far. when that line does get pushed too far, we'll know.
I didn't expect to watch this whole thing but it was interesting enough to keep going. Regardless of what happens with Lyn in the future, I think I'll always have a soft spot for her character.
From my point if view you should have also examined the proportions of 1-2 other non-Lyn and Camilla characters just to see if it were an overall choice with all chracters or just Lyn. But, still a great video.
I wonder if this trend was inevitable or if Lyn could have taken a different route (but also been less popular tbh, given the Heroes demographic) if Robin had not been so similar to Mark
This started in the wildest way possible and I wasn't sure what I was watching for a while considering all the measurements But I wasn't expecting it to be a word of warning to where Lyn's character is moving and why it might not be the same in the end. Pretty sad all things considered but I'm glad someone out there is willing to call objectification the problem that it is and why it destroys character. Thank you for this insight!
The thing about the Sol Katti animation is that there's only a few frames with a handful of pixels that *might* indicate that Lyn isn't wearing underwear. On top of the fact that you'd need to be explicitly looking for those pixels, you'd also have to basically ignore the rest of the animation, particularly the sword, better know as *main focus of it* I mean, do you want to see Lyn practically fully clothed or do you want to see Lyn beating the everliving crap out of Nergal with a sword the size of a metre stick
That's fair enough but on larger screens like desktop or the Wii U virtual console (because let's face it emulation or virtual console is how most people are playing FE7 these days) the boob jiggle is super obvious
For the remake, I think there should be some conversation about Lyn's decision of being a ruler in place of her grandfather vs going back to the plains sprinkled into story. Lyn asking Eliwood's mother about how Eliwood would take his father's place, then asking Uther, then finally end with talking with her grandfather. I kind of want to have the avatar have some kind of support conversations with the characters, just to add more dialogues for everyone, letting Lyn talked about what it was like to be a royal family member, her struggles with her new environment. If they want add in the extra fanservice, they can make Lyn ask if the avatar wants to stay by her side at the end.
I think if they show Lyn's choice it would alievate my issue with her character, because as it stands right now there's no indication she'd ever not go home to Sacae. excellent take dude.
She's been my favorite fire emblem character ever since I first played FE7. It doesn't even matter that I haven't played any of the other games she's in. Her FE7 sprite and crit animation are so cool. Please, for the love of god, put her in smash 😭 I've been waiting for years.
I do believe it has to do with of coruse Lyn being very popular, but also the ramp upwards in character detail and a lack of actual involvement in a story. To explain a little bit what I mean, if Lyn's initial traits are her kindness, conlfict of identity, among other things, those are really traits can only be worked on well if there is an actual strong plot involving the character going on. Warriors and Heroes don't really do this for most older characters, or at all, so we would really need something like a remake or a sequel to FE 7´s story to see how the develop the character, and what would maker her stand out. As for the strong attachment to avatars, I do agree the developers have taken her in particular to fill this roll. I don't think it is a bad thing, she ins very popular after all, but this is what a lot of people will first see of her, those who haven't played FE 7 have 0 reference as to her character development. I don't mind the "porportions" up to this point. I would recommend going futher up however. And if they want to prevent this idea of Lyn only being there for us people, then they do need to make a ner game where she is heavily involved. Quite a unique sitation I haven´t seen many characters be in, like if at all.
Her proportions aren't at ridiculous levels of say something like Highschool DXD or anything yet and i don't think we're rapidly approaching that either, what I do think though is there's only so far we can push what's happening before Lyn becomes not Lyn. It'll be interesting to see how all of this is handled come an FE7 remake.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter Yeah, right now I think it is fine. Some of it can be attributed to the new styles of the artists, and the fact that they clearly spend a lot more time and effort on detail, compared to old FE 7 art style. Like, for example, now they draw muscle lines, among other things. But yeah, if we want to see more appropriate development, we do need more than just Warriors or Heroes.
To be fair, it has always been a part of Lyn's character that she is pretty. It more impacts the way others interact with her than the way she interacts with the world though. Also when people draw fan art of a character their features often get a little exaggerated just because people's perception of that character tends to get mixed in with the reality of it. It COULD be a conscious decision by Intelligent Systems, but it doesn't HAVE to be like you assume. The main point I really agree with you on is the avatar sexual aspect of Lyn's modern reincarnation. Unfortunately sense Lyn is the first lord the west was introduced to, the personal relationship between Lyn and the player is a big selling point to a lot of people. Therefor it is pretty natural for things such as DLC and spinoffs which are essentially built to best please fans (fan service), so it is natural for the avatar to be a focused on aspect of Lyn in these games. It is completely possible that a FE7 remake could avoid these problems sense that would be a stand alone game that needs to sell itself to new fans of the series, not just selling jpegs to old ones. But also hey, maybe everything you said is completely correct, im just trying to stay optimistic about one of my favorite characters.
though my view is a little bit of a Downer one, it comes from a longtime Lyn fanboy. you raise some excellent points, almost all the characters in FE games are going to be conventionally attractive, Lyn is no exception, but by my observations they've turned the dial up from her just being generally attractive to being deliberately provocative - and that's the key difference i wanted to stress with this video.
The saddest part is that this change... is working. Personally, I loved Lyn in FE7, and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't waifu'd her in my mind, but that was because of who se was. Her progressive fanservice-fication has actually made her less appealing to me, as the character I came to love has been degrading. Unfortunately I seem to be a rare minority.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter The pain hits hard when I try reccomending someone to play FE7 and speak her praises to help push it... and they respond with "isn't she that fanservicey vacuous character" as they've only known her from recent material.
I'm surprised he forgot that Lyns first appearance after FE7 was actually as an Assist Trophy in Smash Bros Brawl, like half a decade before Awakening DLC.
Lol, that Vsauce hommage hit me for good xD I for myself dislike the increasing fanservice Camilla is facing more and more... Yes, ofc she is a character for fanservice ever since Fates. And yes, she wasn't that good written at all. But she did got more to her character than just tiddies. She is a loving, caring older sister who turns into a valkyre if someone harms her siblings. In most of her FEH alts, this somehow got missing for said avatarsexuality (with the summoner ofc)
I'd say Warriors handled Camilla better than FEH. Yes, she still has some Corrin obsession, but I don't think its as saturated as Fates(plus, her support with Sakura I feel interjects Corrin very neatly, as Camilla uses the fact that Corrin is both hers and Sakura's sibling as a way to get closer to the latter, and tells a story of Corrin to help build the support in a healthier manner.) As for the other supports, I think they have a decently wide scope: - Anna: Camilla visits Anna to buy goods for her retainers. No Corrin involved. - Frederick: Corrin is mentioned multiple times but its mostly on how Camilla babies them rather than Corrin themselves. Plus the two actually share decent chemistry. - Caeda: Just simple bonding between two girls in the army. - Owain: Mostly Owain trying(and failing) to hit on Camilla, who subsequently roasts him. - Tharja: Camilla is actually in the backseat for this support in terms of obsession. Its mostly her giving "advice" to Tharja while the two discuss the parallels of their stalking - Chrom: The only one where Corrin is the driving force. Its a very questionable support(and arguably her worst) overall, but I mostly just see it as Camilla screwing around with Chrom after figuring out he's socially awkward offscreen. Mostly just my opinion, Im not the best judge of character tbh.
*Fixes glasses* "Actually, Lyn is only the oldest lord in the english version, while she's actually the youngest in the japanese version. This change was most likely because she could romance some adult characters, this has also happened to Elise from Fates who got aged up from 13 to 18, because it was creppy that you could romanve a 13 year old. However they still allowed Corrin to bang his/her siblings and cousin
It's hard to miss but I say this in the video, perhaps it's a bit of wording on my part but rewatch starting at 6:37, where I say: *this is where I have to really give props to the English version of FE7 over the JP. FE7 is a game at its core, about coming of Age, Eliwood, Lyn and Hector all need to grapple with rapidly becoming adults as the figures of stability in their lives require them all to step up and determine the kind of person they want to be. By making Lyn 18 (19 in Eliwood’s mode) in the English version: a full 2 years older than Eliwood and Hector, her coming of age story having already happened during Eliwood’s mode is thematically tied to her being the oldest of the three lords.*
@@ZerkMonsterHunter Fair enough, but considering the many many mistakes the FE7 localisation team made during the translation it seems more like an accident that luckely fits with the overall themes of the story rather than a conscious decision to improve it.
@@vanjagalovic3621 I think that kinda discredits the localization team and their efforts. while it may have been a happy accident it does have a profound ripple effect that i doubt anyone paying attention thematically would miss.

Lyn’s proportions are hardly an issue. She’s hardly that busty. That said ever since awakening, you’ve been able to romance many of the characters. I imagine a remake of FE7 would incorporate that, and Heroes is just giving a sample of what that might look like. There’s really no reason her character as established in 7 couldn’t develop feelings for the protag or anyone else for that matter. It’s not so much a warp in portrayal as an added dimension the original game never focused on. The theory of making her curvier for male fans falls apart when you consider fans love all sorts of proportions.
Consider the term "conventionally attractive" curviness is part of that, and there's a line between "conventionally attractive" and "deliberately provocative" lyn is straying close to that line. busty women exist, and there's always gonna be hyperbole with this type of content, you make a good point, if this is done tastefully, Lyn's romance with the tactician could certainly add a whole new dimension to her character. I mention as such in the video when I bring up the 3 Houses lords and their interactions with Byleth. My concern, which given you missed it was a failure on my part to convey within the script directly, is that even as a MASSIVE Lyn fanboy, Lyn getting curvier and more associated with the avatar feels to me, less like a natural progression and more like pandering, and i don't like being pandered to.
ZerkMonsterHunter 4 I appreciate the response^^ natural progression within the narrative world is one thing, but I feel Lyn is just being fit into the trends of fire emblem today. Handing her off to so many artists and writers will naturally dilute her character somewhat. Of course, this is coming from someone who’s favorites are Lucina, Tharja, Camilla, and Fem Byleth. All these characters have some element of sex appeal to them.
I REALLY HOPE THAT FE CREATED A VERSION THAT WE CAN CREATE OUR OWN CHARACTER AND HAVE OUR OWN CHOICE OF CHATTING AND STORY IF WE PICK DIFFERENT CHOICE... AND ALSO INCLUDE SOME ROMANCE THAT IN THE END CAN CHOOSE SOMEONE..
I MEAN YEAH PLAYABLE AVATARS AND ROMANCEABLE UNITS ARE APPEALING TO SOME PEOPLE, I PERSONALLY ENJOY IT WHEN IT'S TASTEFUL. HOPEFULLY THEY CAN IMPLEMENT IT IN A TASTEFUL WAY. WHY ARE WE YELLING?
@@ZerkMonsterHunter ikr >-< And the ratio from girls to boys in a banner is really off as well. Wasn't there like 3 females and 1 boy in a banner once?
I think you forgot Smash Assist Trophy Lyn (maybe you left it out purposely since it's a spin-off Lyn that wasn't made by the creators of her), but it came before Awakening and Sakurai love for the FE Series means he knew Lyn beforehand plus whenever he adds something to the game, he asks that character's company for input about the character and how it's progressing, making her kinda accurate to what IS imagined her at the moment. I am very certain that Sakurai had direct contact with Intelligent Systems while creating Brawl, Smash4 and Ultimate's Lyn. It could've really help you out see how Lyn looked before Awakening thru all the way after FEH.
Ultimate and 4 have the same model, there's also nothing to analyze character wise for smash bros Lyn (and her smash voice clips are AWFUL) plus, modern Lyn wasn't born until awakening, which brawl missed by being too early, and all of Lyn's assists in smash 4 are reused and upscaled. it's a non data point and since IntSys had minimal direct input i didn't think it was worth including simply because i could only build a case in regards to proportions. additionally, sakurai's accuracy mostly is pointed at characters, I doubt he had the same intense correspondence about an assist trophy as he did for Ike, Robin or the other FE characters in smash. Black Knight and tiki in ultimate use reused heroes voice clips, and they didn't even bother updating Lyn with heroes clips, they still reused the brawl ones.
As a fellow Lyn lover, and Monster Hunter, I really appreciate this video. I have all of her alts, and love giving each of them any skills that might help her be that much more effective. I would love to see a return, or a re-release of your "how to build Lyn" video, since she has gotten so many new toys to play with, and I would love to know how you would build a team of just her alts... For.... For science.... No other reason. It's good to see you making videos again
Thank you, I hope to start pumping them out more regularly now. Heroes metagame videos don't interest me creatively like they used to so unless I'm collaborating or doing another ridiculous meme along the lines of my Hector max Defense build I don't think it'll happen, sorry. That being said, I don't think knowing my content and Interests I'll ever run out of things to talk about regarding Lyn.
I knew they changed her proportions a lot, it just always seemed weird to me how much her FE7 art differs to her Heroes OG art, Resplendent art, and Brave art. And her Summer art.
And I also feel like Heroes did this sort of thing to Olwen similar to how Lyn’s internal conflict isn’t shown. Olwen’s art for Thracia displays her conflict well; her somber, hunched up pose convery her conflict between doing what’s actually right [betraying her country to stop the child hunts] and serving her brother/country. In her ending, it’s even said that she remembered Reinhardt with anger and disgust. Now compare that to her Heroes dialogue where she just talks about how great her brother is and vaguely hints that she may have to walk her own path someday.
Lyn has been my fave lord since i played the game as a kid, even when the gameplay and her stats worked against her character build, i loved spending time and rescources to make her my best unit. Yeah, she was my gay awakening and i still have the crush to that day. The struggle between loneliness, feeling lost, culture and nobility are fantasticly done in her arc, gosh, there is a reason i LOVE Chapter 6 "Blood of Pride" so much, the fight itself is great, getting Matthew is even greater but the exchange between Lyn and Marquess Araphen is the BEST FUCKING THING EVER. Stepping up for her culture and just says "Fuck you" in polite noble way, its perfection. I like how she got more popular the last years, because people judged her solely for being a poorly designed unit not made for "normal" gameplay in her own game and too costly to consider using. Its a nice change and i honestly hope when we get a FE7 remake, that she is romanceable because it would mean and additional rank of dialog to learn about her. (also gosh dang it, i also ship her with Florina as well) I am fairly "okay" with her being avatarsexual, i just want her to still be her own person and not end up like Tharja...
Rath/lyn fan myself, definetely agree with what you're saying, it's a shame though if we don't course correct all the stuff in your comment will possibly be lost.
To be fair, any fictional character falls into personal interpretation. No matter how consistent a character is, everyone has their own depiction of said character. This is why a character let a alone a story is better when it is down by one person as consistency and continuity is manageable. But when everyone joins in and starts establishing their consistency and continuity of a character (which always ends up happening), then u get what I call a jelly donut. Where the donut is the core that the character was build upon and the jelly is the very minor details that makes the character special to the individual ultimately internalizing the character to their liking while still keeping the core. Basically, your jelly donut is not the same as my jelly donut. And fan service is just another kind of jelly donut but with more jelly.
I'd argue fanservice isn't the jelly, but the powdered sugar, glaze chocolate sauce and sprinkles to put on top of the donut. yeah, the donut becomes a big flashy super appealing desert to the eye, but all that sugar on top can drown out the dough (the core character) of the donut, and all you taste is the sugar (fanservice) and the jelly (your personal feelings about that character)
@@ZerkMonsterHunter you have a point with the powdered sugar and sprinkles. What a fine analogy we got here. A character is a jelly donut where the base of the character is the donut l, the jelly is our own depiction of the character, and the powdered sugar is the fan service to make the character more appealing and thus sell.
I think there was always kinda a fanservicey aspect to Lyns character with her interactions with Mark and sprite jiggle but yeah they really did take it to the next level
If anything Lyn is more like a mother realizing her child's become an adult and doesn't need her help like before. Tacticians used to be helpless but now they can fight so it makes sense why she's bent outta shape from that. Pretty sure any NCO or Officer who see's a General out on the frontline is gonna be over protective of them. And what is about her being sexualized? She's wearing the same outfit besides the summer and wedding getup. Yall just looking too hard if you think she's anywhere NEAR being sexualized. Her personality hasn't changed, she's still welcoming and kind to all her allies, if it had anything to do with pandering to the avatar she would react to Corrin the same as Mark or Robin. Lyn's just the same as she was before, it's just been a while since we've seen her last. We got on the bus but Lyn didn't follow us, we just crossed paths again and now she's a special guest in a story isn't about her. Same deal as when we were helping Eliwood and Hector.
did you watch the video? I think i made a pretty good case that Lyn is now depiicted with a much larger busrt and her character is getting very focused and attached to the avatar, you're welcome to disagree, but outfit isn't everything, Tifa's outfit in the final fantasy 7 remake is way more practical than before but the better art and graphics make her design come off as way more sexual -despite the fact her design was toned down so she has a more functional outfit and realistic proportions.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter Lyn looks the same as before and act the same as before. She's so focus or attached to Tactician characters because that the only people she knows outside of her game. In warriors everyone has another person from their game to back them up but her. The only person she could know is the player if they played 7 so of course she's gonna be focused on the Tactician avatars more than other avatars or characters because she doesn't know them. And fam, why are you so on about her rack? She legit has the most conservative top out of most girls not armored. Yall for real trying to stare through this lady's shirt like a perverted superman or something. Measuring the pixels of a cartoons boobs and she's got a borderline turtleneck on. Also what are you talking about with Tifa? She looks the exact same as she does in NT besides having stockings now and black gloves and other little things. Ima be real with you, after pointing it out, Lyn does look different but she just looks older. In awakening I for sure didn't notice anything other than the matrix jacket she's got on which looks awesome and reminds me of trunks. When she got the pelt she looks the same and when she gets the Chieftain look she looks older. She doesn't change at all in warriors beside having shorts now and looks 30yrs old but i think its because she's not drawn as a Toon in that game. Her last design makes her look like a good cross between being a lord and a nomad. Idk, maybe she's just looking older but she isn't more sexualized besides the summer getup. Same with Tifa, she looks more covered actually with the whole stockings and what not but Lyn just looks pretty much the same overall fanservicewise; She's just less of a young adult teen and more of a grown woman now. This probs because im not a hardcore gamer and I don't be looking all day everyday at these characters so it might just be me. On a scale of Joreebma to Beyonce, she's def a Sally. Really Good friend, kinda cute but more someone you would hook your boy up with feel me?
It's fine if you disagree you raise some decent points about Lyn latching on to tacticians because robin seems familiar to her, but I 100% stand by my thoughts in the video.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter Hopefully we'll get a game with her as a main cast member again so we can see how she deals with other characters because she's only going to be interacting with the player or whoever the closest thing to the F7 tactician is in a game she has no real buisness being in other than to be a cameo for those who've played F7.

>three houses proves that having a character with arcs tied to the avatar can work well i strongly disagree with this, or i atleast disagree with the concept of a cardboard plank like Byleth makes any character that much better, seeing how Byleth's role in AM is highly non existent and could've been fulfilled by other characters like Dedue who gets shafted in the second part due to this, in VW Byleth while contributes to Claude's more direct stance, Claude mostly reevaluates himself via the events of the story and comes to terms that he was Naive and he still has a long way to ago to achieve his dream. and Edelgard...the less said about her the better honestly.
I enjoyed three houses for what it's worth, I think a more involved avatar certainly would have improved things in this regard; but I still standby my take that with care it can feel natural, just look at the response to Edelgard.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter and i have to disagree with that response because i've found her to be a poorly written character made of compromises between the writing team that just doesn't work unless you view her with absolute favor. granted her having the most rushed and unfinished route is also a factor in this, 3H is a good game, my game of 2019 and in my top 5 FE's, but it also bite off way more than it could chew regarding the scale and ambition of the game, i do not feel like its natural for edelgard to cream her pants regarding the avatar even on VW and AM but here we are.
Indeed. i think we are getting off topic from lyn though, If IntSys takes what worked and what didn't from 3H i think they can definetely salvage this new incarnation of Lyn.
Gotta love the Wheel of Time reference you snuck in there. It'll probably go over most Fire Emblem fans' heads but know that at least one person appreciates it.

Hadn't thought about how making Lyn older the English version of FE7 makes more sense characteristically. I've always seen her as waifu-bait for high-schoolers because she's 15 and in a coming of age story. But yeah, she's always been waifu-bait in my eyes, it just seems like IntSys is ageing her up for the original fans who aren't kids anymore.
This is the deepest, most science driven deep dive in to character thirst I have ever witnessed. I do not know if I am insulting you genuinely, I am just baffled and impressed.
Calling me a "diehard lyn fan" would be a massive understatement and yeah I'm not even gonna deny that Lyn has absolutely been made a different character than who she once was by a desire to appeal to her fans, but I wouldn't say she's been in any sense "ruined" per se unlike a lot of cases of such a thing happening, I feel it's more Lyn's motives have changed to something very much different but could be equally compelling. An important thing to note is Lyn is NOT a main Lord in her game, despite being so popular. She was essentially just the star of the tutorial first act that if the player chooses can be outright skipped and whose events never meaningfully tie into the rest of the game's major conflict. This means despite having a self contained story, she absolutely had more malleability than Eliwood or Hector, and to get more material out of it I cans see why some would think a change in focus is needed even if not necessarily so. To me Lyn's near psychosis fixation on Mark while no doubt done in the name of fanservice still opens up a possible character that *very much* interests me: Exactly how damaged was Lyn by the loss of her tribe? If you read all through Lyn's support conversations in FE7, you find out contrary to her title she's not the last of her tribe, but the remnants of her tribe abandoned her due to her gender and age, refusing to recognize her as her leader and leave her all alone. The fact that she very much acts like she WAS the only survivor speaks to the idea that she considers those who abandoned her to no longer be _worthy_ of being called Lorca, and her immediate near emotional breakdown on meeting Mark showing how lonely she was. To me a focus on Lyn's attachment to Mark speaks to exactly how devastated she was by her tribe's slaughter, it's already been implied before she planned to kill herself if not for Mark's appearance, and her immediate willingness to journey with him speaks to an intense desire for any sort of attachment that goes beyond the simple kindness of helping a stranger. Likewise she is equally surprise he actually joins her on her quest when Kent and Sain are introduced, speaking to an idea that she expected immediate abandonment from a person whose life she explicitly saved. In short the shift from a focus on "nomadic tribeswoman is actually a nobility" to "Needs Mark to feel like her life has meaning" is in my opinion while not a good sign given Nintendo and IS's track record, not a loss in potentially compelling character by any means. But that's all about how she's written, definitely not okay with this sex appeal for it's own sake thing. Full disclaimer, I'm actually writing an FE story and explicitly plan to explore these ideas, the idea of her hatred for the Taliver and desire to see them massacred implying a very grudgeful side created by trauma and how that violent grudge could extend to the Lorca who abandoned her, and the idea of near psychotic attachment and fear of separation from Mark born out of the belief that without that pillar things will regress and in the end she'll be all alone again. Because I know Nintendo, I know intelligent systems. I have zero faith they'll actually make use of any of what I just suggested and will just continue to make her more and more blatantly there to bait fans. So damnit, _I_ will.
that's an interesting perspective! "ruined" is hyperbolic on my part, I too am a massive Lyn fan, it's kinda what I'm famous for lol. that being said my big hangup is I don't want Lyn's character to warp around mark, and for her to turn into someone like Tharja, which if I understand is avoidable by doing what you said, the question is IF they take that direction
just to be clear this entire video is fckin brilliant and I was laughing my ass off at the idea of a man slaving over math that basically translates to "SHE GETTIN THICCER" and the Cuboon segment I just figured it'd be more fun to give a response comment than a reaction comment what with me already having a WIP story that literally explores the idea of taking this shift in character and actually making something of it rather than diluting anything.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter I absolutely get that, I think inherently it's a bad thing that they're straying from the original idea despite seeing potential in taking it in a different direction if only becuase of how rarely that works out with GOOD writers let alone in the hands of a developer clearly intent on simple pandering. And while my story has it planned not as a shift entirely but simply showing another side of her, I doubt IS will actually get literally anything right about it and continue to essentially turn her more and more into waify bait. Thankfully even if they remake the game, they can't get rid of the original and the character THAT gave us. As i said in the other bit and some of the main comment, half the reason I plan to explore the ideas I do in my writing is because CLEARLY intelligent systems won't and I ain't letting quality potential go to waste for a character I adore. that's like why 90% of any decent fan writing (fanfiction and other forms) exists: SPITE again I wanna clarify I don't think you were claiming her character is ruined, i think this a warning of what's likely to come and if i were a betting man i'd put money down on everything you said in this video might potentially happen coming true. If anything it's made me that much more dead set on nailing my own take....whenever that comes. I haven't updated that story in a year and a half cause of writer's block and 2020 being 2020-
I certainly got a bit of a chuckle out of this. The humor along with serious analysis seems like a nice mixture since you can think about the topic while also having a good laugh.
I love all the mentions of Mark from Lyn. Because I love Mark. I want them to come back as a heroes character. Bramimond was the closest to that, but I *really* want Mark
ZerkMonsterHunter 4 Not really lol. Mark has no character, we both know this. I just latch onto characters that nobody knows exists and Mark is the perfect candidate. Mark is like this elusive figure that showed up in Hector, Eliwood, and Lyn’s lives for a short period of time and then vanished without a trace... like a nomad who appears to help you grow as a person and leaves when they are no longer needed. Or like Mary Poppins Lol. I like that mysterious aspect of their character. The only thing we really know about them is they are a silent protagonist, and that just adds to their elusiveness. No other protagonist is really silent in fire emblem, afaik. Byleth might count as one. They left without saying goodbye, and Lyn wants closure. That’s how I view their relationship.
So every bit of dialogue Lyn gives about Mark gives a little more insight into their character, and makes me a little more happy to understand this elusive nomadic tactician

YES thank you. I have been defending the FE7 tutorial for YEARS because of how good I think it is story wise.
(Such as Virion's introduction.)
Fe7 was the first FE game I played alot of (Since long story short, I don't really like Awakening so I couldn't bring myself to play more after roughly chapter 5.) and I loved how Lyn mode wasn't some SAVE THE WORLD adventure but actually a rather ultimately small personal tale like you said with a few hints on the Ninian/Nils side of things that there's more going on behind the scenes.

Great Video.

Welcome back. You weren't gone very long, but welcome back nontheless.
Even if this video was a mistake, it was entertaining and gave me something to think about.
Now you'll be comparing the forehead/thigh-ratio on all potential future waifus.
On the other hand, I'm willing to bet money they make mark playable and Lyn romanceable; possibly toning up the "avatarsexuality"
my hope is with a remake what made Lyn great in the first place can be reintroduced in full force.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter >On the other hand, I'm willing to bet money they make mark playable and Lyn romanceable; possibly toning up the "avatarsexuality"
Well.
Food for thighs, I mean thought. Food for thought.
FF7R isnt really a great bar of quality but to compare Nintendo to Square Enix is a bit of a stretch in the first place.
“I *had* to go back and take more measurements”
I hope to see more vids like this in the future!
thank you!

So... Did you have to do multiple takes for the "measurements" you made, because you laughed at the absurdity of what you were describing? I really hope you did lol
I legit had to read off the script in order to keep a straight face. I have so many flubbed takes of that entire segment.
I just watched a man do research on female fictional character's proportions. Good stuff.
Ye

It's not the funnest experience TBH, as a massive Lyn fan, what's happening is conflicting at best and largely disheartening at worst.
Oh cool Zerk posted a video I wonder what's it about? Oh it's about Lynn I should have known.

Well said, I hope with a meatier remake what made Lyn great in the first place can hopefully be reintroduced in full force.
Your next line will be, "Lorca cloth makes the best facemasks," and you'll bury your face in Lyn's lap!

@@ZerkMonsterHunter yea I'm on the same boat

I mean... people have been thirsty for Lyndis since her debut back in gba.
guilty as charged.
From my point if view you should have also examined the proportions of 1-2 other non-Lyn and Camilla characters just to see if it were an overall choice with all chracters or just Lyn. But, still a great video.
Azura is one that gets mentioned as having an ever-increasing bust. but I wanted to keep the video laser-focused on Lyn as much as I could.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter fair enough, it would have probably taken a lot longer and would remove some of the focus from Lyn.
I wonder if this trend was inevitable or if Lyn could have taken a different route (but also been less popular tbh, given the Heroes demographic) if Robin had not been so similar to Mark
I loved the video! There is something intensely funny yet still interesting about the analytics of Lyn’s thighs.
yep, it was quite the project to explain to people exactly what I was doing while quarantined.
This started in the wildest way possible and I wasn't sure what I was watching for a while considering all the measurements
But I wasn't expecting it to be a word of warning to where Lyn's character is moving and why it might not be the same in the end.
Pretty sad all things considered but I'm glad someone out there is willing to call objectification the problem that it is and why it destroys character.
Thank you for this insight!
the video was a wild ride to make and I'm glad I stuck the landing, thank you for the kind words!
The thing about the Sol Katti animation is that there's only a few frames with a handful of pixels that *might* indicate that Lyn isn't wearing underwear. On top of the fact that you'd need to be explicitly looking for those pixels, you'd also have to basically ignore the rest of the animation, particularly the sword, better know as *main focus of it*
I mean, do you want to see Lyn practically fully clothed or do you want to see Lyn beating the everliving crap out of Nergal with a sword the size of a metre stick
That's fair enough but on larger screens like desktop or the Wii U virtual console (because let's face it emulation or virtual console is how most people are playing FE7 these days) the boob jiggle is super obvious
If fanservice can warp a character I’m all for it as long as the warp range is good.
not sure how to respond to this.

Her fan service got us child mark and her as a child as a duo
Ah yes. Measuring a character's proportions. FOR ANALYSIS!
Hey, this kind of stuff teaches you to pay attention to details!
@@ZerkMonsterHunter Definitely true.
I like that Lyn remembers and cares about us. :( 💙
I feel this and completely agree, It feels like what made me enjoy the character to begin with is gradually being stripped away.
Lol, that Vsauce hommage hit me for good xD
I for myself dislike the increasing fanservice Camilla is facing more and more...
Yes, she still has some Corrin obsession, but I don't think its as saturated as Fates(plus, her support with Sakura I feel interjects Corrin very neatly, as Camilla uses the fact that Corrin is both hers and Sakura's sibling as a way to get closer to the latter, and tells a story of Corrin to help build the support in a healthier manner.)
As for the other supports, I think they have a decently wide scope:
- Anna: Camilla visits Anna to buy goods for her retainers.
Its mostly her giving "advice" to Tharja while the two discuss the parallels of their stalking
- Chrom: The only one where Corrin is the driving force.
It's hard to miss but I say this in the video, perhaps it's a bit of wording on my part but rewatch starting at 6:37, where I say:
*this is where I have to really give props to the English version of FE7 over the JP.

Wow, never knew Shaggy x Velma was canon...
They dated for a while in Mystery inc.

Cuboon DEFINITELY draws lyn hentai in his spare time
I wanna see it please. For uh... research purposes.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter me too
As a fellow Lyn lover, and Monster Hunter, I really appreciate this video.
See, the thing is, Reinhardt became a meme, and meme factor is a type of fanservice, Olwen's a victim of fanservice too, just a different kind.
13:33 this whole segment is actually hilarious why is this so funny to me 😭
Lyn has been my fave lord since i played the game as a kid, even when the gameplay and her stats worked against her character build, i loved spending time and rescources to make her my best unit.
(also gosh dang it, i also ship her with Florina as well)
I am fairly "okay" with her being avatarsexual, i just want her to still be her own person and not end up like Tharja...
Rath/lyn fan myself, definetely agree with what you're saying, it's a shame though if we don't course correct all the stuff in your comment will possibly be lost.
Interesting video. I don't know how my life came to this.
hey at least you weren't the guy making it
@@ZerkMonsterHunter Lmfao right. Great job though man!
I didn't expect this video to be wholesome, but 18:39 was a jump scare. R.I.P. Shamir.
I cant believe your still alive lol, jokes aside following your Twitter made me wonder what the video is about.
Absolutely amazing video! Loved watching every second of it!
Awesome to hear!
I just want an fe7 remake. Stop turning my childhood friends into sexual icons 😂
If they remake fe7 they would had fanservice clothes in the DLC.
I can't believe they gave an Assist Trophy from Super Smash Bros. Brawl their own game!
shush
I'd pay for a series where you look at fe characters and calculate their thigh size.
I think there was always kinda a fanservicey aspect to Lyns character with her interactions with Mark and sprite jiggle but yeah they really did take it to the next level
10:00 *"Hey, FESauce! Zerk here."*
*Yes.*
thanks
What have I stumbled into now...
Was just randomly scrolling.
you're welcome.
I fk love lyn i dont care about how popular she is i just like her personality and design and her abilitys shes always one of my fav even if shes underrated
I vibe with this.
>three houses proves that having a character with arcs tied to the avatar can work well
i strongly disagree with this, or i atleast disagree with the concept of a cardboard plank like Byleth makes any character that much better, seeing how Byleth's role in AM is highly non existent and could've been fulfilled by other characters like Dedue who gets shafted in the second part due to this, in VW Byleth while contributes to Claude's more direct stance, Claude mostly reevaluates himself via the events of the story and comes to terms that he was Naive and he still has a long way to ago to achieve his dream. and Edelgard...the less said about her the better honestly.
@@ZerkMonsterHunter now THAT, i can agree with, not too sure i have anything else to add on.
Gotta love the Wheel of Time reference you snuck in there. It'll probably go over most Fire Emblem fans' heads but know that at least one person appreciates it.
love the profile pick dude.
I was coming off a reread of Eye of the World when writing the script
Ah. You've just begun your Wheel of Time journey then. It's a great series, it has a slow middle section but I guarantee the payoff at the end is *so* worth it.
@@saiyanscars It's my second time through, I read through most of it in high school, didn't own the last 2 books until a few months ago but picked them up and started back at the beginning
Hadn't thought about how making Lyn older the English version of FE7 makes more sense characteristically. I've always seen her as waifu-bait for high-schoolers because she's 15 and in a coming of age story.
But yeah, she's always been waifu-bait in my eyes, it just seems like IntSys is ageing her up for the original fans who aren't kids anymore.
perhaps, whether it was a happy accident or not it was a change for the better and i hope in a remake they age her up for JP too.
In the game released in Japan, She's 15 (16 in Eliwood/Hector story)
In the USA release, She's 18 (19)
This is really well put together but I feel like this is what happens when you're stuck in quarantine too long. But I admire the deep dive.
the cabin fever is definitely hitting hard
This is the deepest, most science driven deep dive in to character thirst I have ever witnessed. I do not know if I am insulting you genuinely, I am just baffled and impressed.
I am a man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will.
"ruined" is hyperbolic on my part, I too am a massive Lyn fan, it's kinda what I'm famous for lol.
that being said my big hangup is I don't want Lyn's character to warp around mark, and for her to turn into someone like Tharja, which if I understand is avoidable by doing what you said, the question is IF they take that direction
just to be clear this entire video is fckin brilliant and I was laughing my ass off at the idea of a man slaving over math that basically translates to "SHE GETTIN THICCER" and the Cuboon segment
I just figured it'd be more fun to give a response comment than a reaction comment what with me already having a WIP story that literally explores the idea of taking this shift in character and actually making something of it rather than diluting anything.
As i said in the other bit and some of the main comment, half the reason I plan to explore the ideas I do in my writing is because CLEARLY intelligent systems won't and I ain't letting quality potential go to waste for a character I adore. that's like why 90% of any decent fan writing (fanfiction and other forms) exists: SPITE
again I wanna clarify I don't think you were claiming her character is ruined, i think this a warning of what's likely to come and if i were a betting man i'd put money down on everything you said in this video might potentially happen coming true.
Exactly what I was trying to go for, fun on the surface with some legitimate arguments to keep you thinking, glad you liked it!
I love all the mentions of Mark from Lyn. Because I love Mark. I want them to come back as a heroes character. Bramimond was the closest to that, but I *really* want Mark
any particular reason why?
