I watched that Watch Mojo video the other day.
I was offended when they said kids don't know what VHS tapes are.
I grew up with VHS tapes because my parents couldn't be bothered to buy DVDs.

VHS Tapes are iconic in a way. I'm well aware of VHS tapes are and so are probably 99% of people who actually know what a 1999 is.
Edit: as in what happened in that time... i'm not saying you had to have been born in 1999 to know what a vhs tape is

I Was born in Cuba, Early 2005 , in Cuba Its like living in the 80’s with a bit of 50/60s , We always had music like Michael Jackson, ABBA etc , Also we still have our VHS in the family house, TV’s had 80s quality and we a have the old phones, and we have a lot of old consoles like the PS1 , Xbox, and Nintendo 64 , honestly I kinda hate this generation , I Love the gaming part With PC’s and consoles having much power , but the music Uuuhhhhh! , LilPump, XXXTencation, Kanye West uhhh All this is bullshit, And when I go to my school Everyone is like FORTNITE, LIL PUMP OMG NEW IPHONE OMG RAP SONGS, and it annoys me when these kids don’t know (not to offend annyone) and also I hate the fact that most places are urbanized. And also PC’s in me school were preety famous.
    Thanks for reading :D

The ONLY thing "bad" about vhs tapes was the video quality, compared to cds you could not break these things ever pretty much and the real reason cd's took over is because they make way more money because they get broken so often, if they would have put the same amount of work into a cd that didn't break so easily they wouldn't make nearly as much.

I grew up with VHS in my early life even if I was born in the early 2000's. My parents/grandparents had VHS of movies I loved. Of course, we had DVDs but VHS was mainly used for the Lion King movies, Land Before Time, etc. Same for Video Rental. We never used much of the streaming or digital sites for my family, and we had a Family Video closeby, so we could rent things occasionally. Me and my cousins used to do it rarely before

When I was eight (about 2010-ish), we had a huge storage shelf full of VHS tapes and DVD's. One day, I watched Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, and had the brilliant idea to try climbing it. The shelf fell over on me, all of the tapes were fine, but most of the DVD's got some scratches on them. I got grounded for 3 weeks for breaking my older brother's copy of Twilight though. 👌

Used to watch my Scooby Doo episode compilation tape, Lion King, and Finding Nemo all the time. When you put those tapes in there was a real sense of power when you put one in, with the plastic-y claters an shit and then there was the tape whiring up to play the movie. Kid me had a blast just putting those lil suckers into the VCR. Don't get me started on rewinding them, it was just so cool seeing the past 2 or so hours whip by at double speed, it was like seeing the journey you just went on but compressed into what could've been a minute.
VHS's were fuckin cool, fite me, watchmojo.

I was born in 2004 and remember everything on this list. (Slightly less so with physical DVD guides, but I still have faint memories of them), I can see how most of this stuff got on the list, the VHSs and VCRs? Really? The most insulting on this list is DEFINITELY Gameboys, there's not a soul on the planet who doesn't know what a Gameboy is.

I think i know all of these is because my mom watches alot of classic shows and my stepdad showed me and told me alot about his technology back then, and i'm not even a teenager.

Phone books still exist to this day because not everyone has a cell phone you'd be surprised.
I also remember those phones because of 101 Dalmatians & Goodwill always has those phones for sale.
I still have a local rental place it's hilarious how WatchMojo doesn't know anything and doesn't take stores into consideration.
