There are some schools and institutions in the area, which means delicious, cheap eats! I had heard a lot of good reviews about the street food in the area, particularly the street pizza and street Indian-style Chinese stir-fried foods, so I had to take the hour long metro ride out here to try it for myself.
After arriving at my metro stop, I got off and walked outside to where all the rickshaws were waiting. I planned on grabbing a rickshaw to nearby Vision Institute, which is where I needed to go for the good eats. While trying to explain where I needed to go, a nice man noticed I was the only foreigner in the area, and on top of that, I was alone bargaining for a rickshaw. Being that Delhi is notorious for rickshaw overcharging, he jumped in to help me bargain for the rickshaw. For a 2km, the rickshaw drivers wanted ₹100, or roughly $1.21. I actually don't think this was too much given that petrol and other expenses are quite high nowadays, but Jaydee assured me it was too high, and told me I had to pay ₹60-₹70, which is actually roughly the official fare if you look up Delhi rickshaw prices by meter. He seemed to know what he was talking about as he's the son of a police inspector in Delhi as he told me. He helped me bargain for the rickshaw and I was off!
The rickshaw driver himself was very nice as well. We talked about his family and job on the way, and he was also happy I spoke Hindi. In the end I gave him ₹200 since he was such a nice man. These men have hard jobs being outside in the pollution all day and having to push through traffic.
After arriving at the location I requested, I had to take a short walk over to Croma Mall where I had scouted out a street Pizza. I walked up and said hi, and the owner selling was extremely happy and friendly. I decided on trying his "Shahi Nazrana" pizza which was full of delicious toppings, and for just over $1 for a small size, I couldn't beat it!

Great blogs Chris. I like the 'human touch' while dealing with local people. Giving little extra money to ricksha driver and asking to buy good food for the family was nice human touch! Travelling in foreign country can be facing troubles like cancelled flights, unfriendly taxi service, unexpected overbooked accommodation, haggling sales stall people etc. But some times you get reward by getting helping hand by unknown people, finding ancient historic places, good food and learning experience. Chris seams to be enjoying all of this.

Here's a tip to all foreigners ... whenever in an unwanted situation with some aggressive scammer/dealer/trader/seller ... always be firm and don't be afraid to be rude... and if you feel threatened in any way... threaten to call 100 (One Hundred) .. 100 is all India police/emergency number. Chris you're amazing with your Hindi.. and your vlogs are addictive

When you left him with 200 rupees for the fare( He was only expecting 70 rupees) his smile lit up and melted my heart. Chris , my friend your people skills are nothing short of extraordinary. Well, Hindi ( and dialects) is spoken primarily in what is known as the Cow Belt or the Hindi Belt, Haryana and Himachal.
For the rest of India Hindi is more of either a second language or an alien language.
I am from Punjab, and we associate Hindi with UP and Bihari Bhaiyas

as a regular visitor to delhi i decided long ago not to haggle the drivers for a few rupees. Fuel in india is the same price as western countries and 50 rupees to us is nothing. It’s less then 1 dollar. These guys sleep in their rickshaws. Life’s tough for them. Be kind

If any driver charging more to foreigners just because they are foreigners it's not acceptable and some drivers even misbehave with Indians as well so Giving extra money or Tip is ok if driver asking right fare and behaving good .
