Can we fix our framing mistakes? -stuffing, straightening, & weed whacking our straw bale walls

Once the bales are in place it is time to get the walls straightened. To do that, one person on each side takes a tamper hitting bales in the walls back and forth until they are leveled from our toe up to our top nailer. Then we go through and weed whack ALL the bales to get the stringy/loose straw off to create a nice smooth looking finish (and to help the plaster better adhere to our wall).... NOW TIME TO FIX OUR FRAMING MISTAKES -our doors were framed TOO SHORT! we made the mistake of measuring a trailer house door that we had bought thinking it was a regular sized entry door. We were confused the whole build when it came time to framing the doors as to why we wouldn't be making the openings bigger but we always went back to that ONE door!!
Wylees father came for the week and helped out with all the odds n ends -fixing our framing mistakes, he cut down our rafters so that our soffit will line up correctly, we stuffed any remaining holes on the exterior. We tar papered any exposed wood on the interior and got a start with it on the exterior. we also ripped and cut boards to make a more solid header above a few windows and our doors.

Most important thing to remember, it's straw bale and embrace the slight imperfections. So true. We say they just added "character". 👍

Regarding the door frames...it's only a "mistake" if you knew better beforehand, otherwise it's a "learning experience!"

@@buildingroots5873 no I'm just glad someone close is building.i be been trying to get house done.gonna get my bales n build a garage to practice.i was gonna go to Carolina to workshop n Tuscon this April but think I'm gonna do it online.om in sask.look forward to see ur build.im doing my post out of2x2 steel not sure of roof.but building roof first
