I lived in Twin falls then and was there that day and its true , they really didn't know what would happen as the tests had failed and the pressure was on and the previous dates were cancelled so it became do or die , Glad he did not die as I would run into him 13 years later and I bought him a drink after he told me he always buys the drinks and I said Mr.Knievel then let me be the first to honor you by me buying the drinks . He let me buy as he said ...call me Evel.

Mike Farr your comment makes no sense or have any validity, you just sound like someone who has an axe to grind.

how lucky we where as kids to have this guy showing us what it ment to have balls
    kids now have what?
    who models courage for them?
everyones running for thier "safe spaces"
we ought to be ashamed of ourselves for allowing this to happen

He definitely had a pair of big balls. This is why you have to respect him.

As goofy as it may seem today, it truly was the real deal. Real stakes. There was no guarantee, and a whole helluva a lot to go wrong.

Two things need to be mentioned here. 1) After that first test cycle went into the canyon, that should've served as an omen for Evel. 2) On the positive side, had Evel made the jump from the landing side of the canyon over to the take off side, looks like he would've made it because the wind would've been at his back pushing him forward, so its a good bet he would've made it. Just saying is all.

He would have hit some homes on the South side.

@@loisskaug2398 Well I never said it wouldn't come without a price. lol On the bright side at least he would've made it.

Actually if you have taken 3rd grade math, you would know he actually made it over the canyon and the wind blew him back across the canyon, ... so he jumped it TWICE! 😱😁🤪🤣🖕🖕🇺🇸

They definitely don’t make “men” like that anymore. He was truly a man. Now most men (not all) are looking for their safe space..........
