    Walking around inside that truck is almost like visiting "Graceland". Very 70's. Very cool. They don't make legends like Evel, Elvis or Mack trucks anymore. Being owned by Volvo, Mack is living on borrowed time. The real MACK TRUCKS died in 1990. Rest easy, Evel, Elvis and BULLDOG MACK. You will never be beaten or forgotten.

    I can remember, watching years ago, the episode of American Trucker when Rob Mariani went looking for and found what was left of the original rig. I remember being moved by Rob's passion for the project as I am of the generation that as a young boy was a true Evel Knievel fan. Thank you Rob and all of those who contributed in every small and large way to the restoration project. I am sure that this project was incredibly expensive and tremendously time consuming. I cannot express with words my appreciation to all of those who worked so hard and sacrificed so much to bring back and preserve a true peice of Americana. To have this relic of days gone by pass silently into dust would have been a sin. Regardless of how people feel about his faults, his short comings as a person one cannot deny Robert Knievel's unique place in American pop culture. Thanks to all of you for your dedication to preserve for all time the history of a true American Icon. God bless all of you.

    Same trucks, color and everything on it , Grew up with the trucks parked on El Camino Real in La Costa Ca witch is known as Carlsbad Ca today , we use to drive past this truck when they were parked off season, the Mob and the sheriffs were cool and chill back then and not a worry, it was fun to be 13 years old in late 1970s yes and it was a great time to be alive !

Ive never seen the motorcycle that closeup & clear before till now. - All I can say is Let someone else try & do what he did using Harleys & Triumphs. Not only that......... Wreck your body & fail that many times, anny normal person wouldve learned their lesson after the first major accident, or atleast the 2nd one ... THATS what set Evel Knievel apart from the others.

    There is better bike jumpers today but Evel was more than that he was a showman! he did it with Flair !

    • @ROTAXD
      @ROTAXD 5 років тому

      ed Gee thing is, the kids jumping today are on bikes that weigh less than 275 lbs and have 16” of useable suspension travel. Although the xr-750’s Evel jumped allegedly only weighed 300 lbs or so, they made less hp than a modern 450 and had maybe 4” of suspension travel. In short, put one of todays “better jumpers” on one of Knievels bikes and the results would likely be the same.

    As anyone from Hot Rod Magazine any of the high end car and truck restoration magazines will tell you. The truck or car is original one time and one time only. And that's the day said vehicle rolls off the assembly line. Once when the owner receives said vehicle on day one starts modifications, like adding a kick ass stereo the truck is no longer
    original. The original cab was swiss cheese and too far gone. So a replacement was located and and put on. A lot of the original pieces, upholstery, mirrors and brackets, and everything that could be reused was installed. Your argument about it not being original is true up to a point. The Mack COE is built in tribute to the man Evil Knievel and his legacy. Something as changing the oil is a modification. There is nothing original to anyone's hot rod or truck.

    The original truck was red. There was a KW too also red. The truck that was "found" was blue. I doubt its original. Theres no blue truck in any footage or pics that I have found,,, only red trucks. There may have been a blue backup truck or either a Hollywood movie built knockoff possibly but its not the daily driver Knievel used. Check out his Kings Island jump and you clearly see a red truck.

      If you've ever seen pictures of his Kenworth you'll see he painted Mack all over it.

      It doesn't look anything like the original paint job, What are you saying, anyone can build a 'bad ass' truck and put Evel Knievel on it and that would be ok? just because it's 'bad ass'?

      I agree, what's the point of doing the job if it's not true to the original?

      Dude you dont WTF you are talking about..and no I'm not saying anyone can just build a truck and put Evel Knievel on the side of it and that would be fine..why would say something so stupid?..What I am saying is the truck looks pretty much identical to what it looked like back in the day and for you to say otherwise just makes you an idiot and shows just how clueless you really are.

      It isnt 100 percent original but so what? Did you see what they had to work with when they found it? Alot of replacement parts had to be found and I'm sure chasing down parts for a special made Mack F model that is almost 50 years old ain't easy.

      I actually have a photo of the truck's original and restored appearances original appearance on the top and restoration below it and while the restoration isn't 100% complete as Robb has said they still have some parts to track down, the appearance IS the original appearance and the BLUE came later on, THIS was the FIRST incarnation of the truck. In the photo I have there is VERY little difference if any

    Not even the same cab,most all of the original truck has been replaced by different parts.So its a duplicate truck.
