Walking around inside that truck is almost like visiting "Graceland". Very 70's. Very cool. They don't make legends like Evel, Elvis or Mack trucks anymore. Being owned by Volvo, Mack is living on borrowed time. The real MACK TRUCKS died in 1990. Rest easy, Evel, Elvis and BULLDOG MACK. You will never be beaten or forgotten.
I can remember, watching years ago, the episode of American Trucker when Rob Mariani went looking for and found what was left of the original rig. I remember being moved by Rob's passion for the project as I am of the generation that as a young boy was a true Evel Knievel fan. Thank you Rob and all of those who contributed in every small and large way to the restoration project. I am sure that this project was incredibly expensive and tremendously time consuming. I cannot express with words my appreciation to all of those who worked so hard and sacrificed so much to bring back and preserve a true peice of Americana. To have this relic of days gone by pass silently into dust would have been a sin. Regardless of how people feel about his faults, his short comings as a person one cannot deny Robert Knievel's unique place in American pop culture. Thanks to all of you for your dedication to preserve for all time the history of a true American Icon. God bless all of you.

As anyone from Hot Rod Magazine any of the high end car and truck restoration magazines will tell you. The truck or car is original one time and one time only. And that's the day said vehicle rolls off the assembly line. Once when the owner receives said vehicle on day one starts modifications, like adding a kick ass stereo the truck is no longer original. The original cab was swiss cheese and too far gone. So a replacement was located and and put on. A lot of the original pieces, upholstery, mirrors and brackets, and everything that could be reused was installed. Your argument about it not being original is true up to a point. The Mack COE is built in tribute to the man Evil Knievel and his legacy. Something as changing the oil is a modification. There is nothing original to anyone's hot rod or truck.
