I lived in Alaska during winter 2017 and watching this brought back all those cold memories 🥶 I wish you could have gotten a shot of the northern lights with that 300mm on the A9iii, I bet that would have been EPIC! Thanks for weathering the elements to test gear for us🙏

Those are pretty crazy results, especially considering how dark Alaska can be this time of year (I lived in Anchorage for a while). The stability is nuts. Yeah cropped, but does it matter? Pretty nice results.
To Add, like the ZV-E1: in video mode, full AF tracking works even in CIZ mode. Meaning you can punch even further with the 20-70 to a 150mm equivalent. Slightly more than the Dynamic mode which gives you a 30% crop but is more stable of course.
Also, so everyone knows. This only works up to 4k60.
Amazing little detail there, mate. This can be crucial to me using 200-600mm G to squeeze more focal length which can sit at 1380mm without teleconverters! Which can be a whooping 2,760mm with 2x teleconverter! Amazing stuff! Can't wait for the new A7Siv if it has 2-layer transistor and stacked! So far the A9III is the first camera I would buy if had the cash. Need a high res camera next to my A7SIII first, so going with A7Rv, sadly, due to the delay of A1 II.
Can’t wait for a more refined second gen global shutter sensor with hopefully lower iso for photos and maybe (maybe) a second high native, I think that would be a holy grail camera, a7s4 maybe?

As you do have the A1, would you do a video or speak on the comparison specifically for video between those. The A1 still surprises me how well it performs a in low light and it’s still plenty fast. But the Dynamic stabilization, improved body, and upgraded 8 stop ibis have me thinking of selling the A1 for the A9
2 different cameras with 2 different sets of features. Really comes down to which you need more or prefer more. I never even considered selling my A1 for the A9 as one of the primary reasons I love the A1 is it's resolution. It really allows you to reach out while still maintaining a large image. It pairs perfectly with my a7SIII or if you have the FX3. The A9 III is only just the beginning of Sony's Global Shutter offerings, I can promise you if you wait for the actual right camera with it for you it will be far better than simply swapping to the A9 III from the A1. But then I have no clue what about each camera you value most as that's a personal choice! Cheers!!

Thank you for the video. Perhaps I missed it, but did you say anything about the need of an ND filter and the shutter speed relative to the fps with the global shutter?
14:32 isnt it that the image looks "better" in the A9III because is oversampled from 6k and in the a7s3 sensor the image is native or line skiped ? i mean thats what comes to mind at the moment for me because i dont have them to try.

The next time you want to have a photo booglaloo session on the side of a mountain: purchase some thermal pads, wrap them in a rag and place in proximity to your batteries. This will keep the batteries at operating temperature(s).
Edit: or keep the batteries in your breast pocket.
Sir is it better than FX3 in terms of video?
For the batteries u gotta bring a mini heater if it’s gonna be below like 20 degrees or that happens, but if u r shooting video it should heat up after a few mins
Oh we had lots of heaters and handwarmers in our bags. But it was just too cold for them to keep up.

What is the cropping ratio on the walking snow scenes?
Love the camera and the new tech but I don’t get how it can output 16 bit raw when it can’t even capture more than 14bit stills raw images? What am I missing here?

Just like a told your buddy Jake Sloan on his video, This is my dream camera. The wish in one hand and SH*T in the other and see which one fills up faster camera lol. I'm a rodeo photographer, and I'm always trying to catch every shot I can. Don't get me wrong, I have a use Sony a7r4 and I love it, but I use strobes and having that global shutter would be amazing.
The 120fps would be so useful for rodeo photos with all that action! Where you based out of. I want to come see what it takes to do rodeo photography

Yes it’s still my everyday camera
Binded APS-C mode is useless. You gain the same exact zoom as you lose pixels because of crop + you have less light. Instead of cropping FF GS sensor you can just let it as is and zoom in in post.
About the ISO, the market makes you want get all of them. Thats why they dont put every feature on a single device ;)
The iso is because of the 24mp global sensor. Maybe they’ll make a 12mp global sensor for that a7s4 that can handle low light 🤔

The camera you compared the a93 to is ridiculous. You need to compare it to the A7S 3. As a video camera the a7S3 should be infinitely better in every way except rolling shutter.
A7S3 is the same as the ZV-E1. Same sensor so same low light
A7S3 is not better in every way. A93 has better Autofocus, global shutter, stability, screen, processor, ergonomics. Only thing A7S3 wins in is low light. A7S3 is getting older so it makes sense that all these features have been improved
