Shooting on a Budget ($400) Ultra Wide angel lens & why the Canon FD17 f4 still slaps 50 years later. Photo adventure exploring Cumberland City and Middle Tennessee.
Using the Canon FD 17mm F4 lens to shoot landscape photos with.
in this video i use the canon F1 and the canon FD 17mm, 28mm. i also shoot some film photos with the contax T, and the olympus XA.
I took a photo adventure with some film cameras and teach you how i use a spot meter to understand metering for photographs. I will show you how to take photos on film and experiment with a few different cameras and film stocks including: kodak portra 400, Ilford HP5 black and white film and cinestill 800 T.

Thanks for making these FD videos. I have a FD 17mm on the way, looking forward to shooting video with it. I have an old F-1 and a FT that came with a lenses I was buying but I have yet to try them out. I've never shot film before outside those old kodak disposables that were around years ago.

The internal light meter is not accurate because the voltage of modern lithium battery that fits is most often wrong at 1,5V. It used a lower voltage Mercury MD battery with 1,35V if you look at the manual, that directly effects the light meter.
You can still get 1,35V mercury batteries online, but also the hearing aid Zinc-Air batteries have the same voltage 1,3V - 1,35V and can be used to replace the battery and have a working light meter. Also works for some other cameras that used Mercury 1,35V cells.
Kind regards from a fellow Canon F1 user :*
