At this point, I am afraid of asking friends/family to help me understand how they feel or why they feel so strongly about this election. I’ve already lost two friends this week because I was curious how they came to their conclusion. Even picking my words so carefully, by admitting that I didn’t understand I outted myself as not being from their side. And instead of engaging in dialogue, I found myself blocked.
There's no more healthy boundaries in our society. Everyone wants to influence and tell others what to do. Who to vote for, what to believe, religion, finances, your mental health. It's disturbing.
I live just east of Seattle and I feel like I have no one to confide in; I feel as though I’m surrounded by the borderline types who bite my head off the moment I reveal my political leanings, so I just keep quiet. But it gets lonely, very, very lonely. I wish I could just talk openly with someone about how I feel without the fight or flight response triggering within me because I can sense conflict and rejection brewing. I’m pretty social, very active in the music scene out here, but I feel like a pariah…
There's been an agenda that is now coming to an end. You aren't alone, I live near you. People have found out Santa isn't real. Our reality isn't real. It will settle down, and all will adjust. The division will come to an end. You came for this time, sit back quielty, and watch all unfold it will bring you joy to see them wake up. Civilization is awakening. It's all about pure love now. Get to know yourself. blessings❤
Excellent points, excellent conversation. As I walked into the staff room the day after the US election, there was, of course, the presumption that NO-ONE would support the Trump team, and conversation freely flowed with derision, disdain and mockery. The room, plastered with reminders of unceded indigenous territory and ways of knowing, the calendar of social justice dates for the year (my post-it was anonomously censured for suggesting Detransitionner awareness day be added), anti-racist poster, the union-sponsored BIPOC social event advertisment, the DEI professional development booklet on the table... this is a public institution, but be verrry verrry careful. Diverse viewpoints are NOT "welcome here".
Yep. Total assumption is my workplace that everyone will think the same- creates a stifling environment where it feels very unsafe to say what you actually think. I have perfected my barbie expression
Wow the Open Therapy Institute!! I'm so glad to see that the Radical Center is moving into the counseling world, you guys are the counselors I would want.
The fingerprint of childhood trauma is all over this election. It's impossible to ignore. This is who we are as a country by now, a supermajority (70+% of the country even 10 years ago) (as we have known for a long time) has experienced unacceptable mistreatment when they were young. It could no longer be contained.
Yes, anti-Whiteism (as well as black-on-White crime) is still not talked about openly and confidently by conservatives. Thank you for bringing it up. I wonder if Trump admin will. I'm sure he is aware, and Vance definitely is. Vivek did for a short while.
Yeah I don’t recall the conservatives talking about Tony Timpa he was killed by a knee on his neck while being arrested. The conservatives don’t talk about where the tactic comes from or why we have so many law enforcement being trained overseas
The axis about which right wing and left wing thought pivots is the degree to which the state controls and regulates private independant activities such as family life and small businesses. The right wing is far less abusive of the left than the left is of the right. The so called "culture war" is NOT an inability between two opinions of equally valid world outlook. The friction is caused by a revolutionary anti democratic set of ideas introduced and being promoted by the education system. CSJ sees liberalism itself as inherently oppressive. "Oppressive Tolerance" - or censorship of disinformation is seen as justifiable because CSJ maintains liberals are deluded by biopower, they are suffering from False Consciousness.
Around 37:00 discussion about racial "aggression". Personally I cannot see where this "aggression" is manifested by the right. In the UK the Conservative party cabinet was a good 30% non indigenous. In the USA Trump's appeal to non white voters is soaring, and non whites are constantly condescended to by the Biden-Harris party (recent quips about black men needing marijuana and different living conditions). From my perspective the right wing parties have gone out of their way to include non white colleagues and woman, whereas the left has assumed accusing others of not doing what they themselves are guilty of is as good as actually being racially inclusive! Look at Trump's team, Trump himself, RFK, Musk, Tulsi Gabard, they were all died in the wool Democrat party members just ten years ago. The old Republican party (Obamas "God and Guns" class) is no longer the core of the party. Today dissaffected former Democrats populate the Republican party. The Democrat party having been subsumed by Zombie cultists.
31:42 I agree that the devide has been cultivated. However I blame social media a lot more than the educational system. The echo chambers that get created on social media platforms could be compared to beeing in a cultish environment. On top of that people get practically trained to see the world in "dislike" and "like" "for" or "against". Lunatics with crazy conspiratorial ideas have always been around, but only in the age of social media do they get a platform to reach an audience of millions of people. I see social media as the perfect breeding ground for miscomunication, dishonest news and black and white thinking. I feel it lets people indulge in their worst habits. Social media sure has its good side aswell, beeing able to watch quality content like yours for example. But I do think the negatives might just outweigh the positivs.
41:50 anti white offence cannot be expressed by the right. Group preference studies clearly show that European Americans are unique in North America in having an outgroup preference. Because they are half convinced they themselves are prone to racial bias, they of all groups are more likely to accept criticism as racist.
@DavidAndrew-t3n I think outgroup means other groups than their own. White people prefer non-white people, this is what I understand, but I'm not a professional

That is a mistake on their part. I am sorry for you.
Get better friends and don't take their bullshit.
I am so sorry to hear that and while it probably provides little or no solace, others are in the same boat.
This feels like the loneliest time of my life
It's utterly insane. Not only are people cutting each other out of their lives, they're bragging about it on social media.

I live in a very left wing liberal UK city & I feel exactly the same ❤

What a hellish place to work in.
Good luck finding somewhere more congenial. I had a similar experience from another direction.

Bravo. We need to talk. With love and understanding ❤ Thanks for getting into this conversation
