This is the most accurate CA compliant handgun I’ve ever shot. I’m not a fan of the trigger weight but it’s more accurate than most of the Glocks I’ve shot here in CA and definitely more COMFORTABLE because my big hands get that Glock knuckle feeling. My question is, am I able to appendix carry this XD9 Service Model? (I know the Subcompact version is slightly snappy and I’m not as accurate with it so I don’t think I’d want that one.)
The grip safety is a good feature in my opinion, because it adds an extra layer of safety and especially if you carry appendix.

the model you are showing is the XD-9 Defender and in free states it comes with 16 +1 rounds
If you don’t like the grip safety, just tape it down
I have they sama CA model and they are very reliable.
Time for the 16 round magazines cause prices are going up.

Get a 1911 so you would be acquainted with the grip safety.
