Yeah, literally right as the game was over, the first thing he did, and the first thing he knew he needed to do was sprint for the dugout and leave. xD
Reggie originally went to Arizona State on a football scholarship before switching to baseball in his sophomore year, so he definitely knew what he was doing out there!
You absolutely COULD still do this but people are much more “under control” nowadays. “Oooo, there’s 50 cops”. So? What are 50 cops gonna do when faced with 8000 people streaming out of the grandstands? Nothing…they’re gonna catch a couple dozen of the slowest/dumbest/craziest and that’s that. It only took a few decades to really instill a pathological fear of authority into the American public but they did it…they achieved that…
Pretty wild Chambliss trying to complete his homerun trot amongst all that chaos. I wonder if Whitey Herzog ever tried to have the homerun overturned due to him either not touching 3rd or home (he may have got a foot on third at some point in that scrum, but didn't look like he ever got anywhere near home plate)...or at least for running outside waaaay outside the basepaths (LOL)? I could see Herzog, Lasorda, Sparky Anderson or Earl Weaver back then going off on the umps, especially in a game-deciding moment.
100% agreed. When the Sox clinched the 2003 ALDS, we were dancing on top of overturned cars on lansdowne street…LITERALLY. Now granted, that was a step too far. I’ll admit that much…but do I regret it? Not for a single second…it’s one of my most enduring college memories.
If I recall, Atlanta Fulton County Stadium also had Fans storming on the field early in 1974 after Henry Aaron blasted Home Run Number 715 off Dodgers Pitcher Al Downing.
The end of the 1973 NLCS was one of the most chaotic scenes ever! ..... the Met fans were on the field before the final play actually was completed! ..... and the end of the 1982 ALCS also saw thousands of fans storming the field, at County Stadium in Milwaukee ....
Everything is so regulated and disconnected from the fans now. MLB players used to be normal guys, games were affordable for most people, ballparks were built into neighborhoods, and fans could storm the field. There was a grassroots element to it that’s almost totally dead now and it’s heartbreaking.
2:23 was disco demolition night that they stormed the field, not because they won/lost the game, and no, the field was so damaged they couldn't play the second game of the double header
Granted he was kind of the voice of American sports in general in the 70s, but Howard Cosell really should’ve checked himself before he wrecked himself and stepped all over Keith Jackson, the play-by-play man, on the Chris Chambliss home run. That shoulda been Keith’s call, his and his alone, and Cosell robbed him of that for all eternity.😕
The guy in the first clip was on a mission to get to the dugout 😂😂
Reggie jackson
@@manuellosada3677 oh really? That makes it even better
Yeah, literally right as the game was over, the first thing he did, and the first thing he knew he needed to do was sprint for the dugout and leave. xD
“That guy” hit three home runs in this game, was a first ballot Hall of Famer, and had a candy bar named after him (albeit a short-lived one).
Reggie originally went to Arizona State on a football scholarship before switching to baseball in his sophomore year, so he definitely knew what he was doing out there!
You gotta love how Reggie Jackson and the other Yankees player were running through fans like fullbacks and stiff arming them as they ran by... 🤣
People do crazy things. Reggie pretty much ran for his life!
Man, these old parks were something else. Security was lax. Imagine if fans did that nowadays.
No cops they could now anyway
Still happens in college football
Every fan would be caught on camera lol 😆

@Romanogers4ever Great debate here.
THERE'S FEAR IN THIS COUNTRY
THERE'S NO FEAR IN THIS COUNTRY
The first guy was trucking people left and right
Reggie Jackson was lookin like Bo Jackson
From baseball to football
Reggie Jackson was doing his best Bo Jackson impersonation in the 1st clip 😂
Are they still cleaning "Disco Sucks" off the walls somewhere?
According to legend
This is the energy MLB is missing today. Let the fans celebrate on the field
Nothings been like this ever since 9/11.
I know what your thinking but that is a bad idea. It is just a human stampede waiting to happen and injuries and maybe death could happen.

Nowadays people go crazy for just 1 fan. Imagine how it was in the 70's
THIS IS THE WAY CELEBRATIONS SHOULD BE
True

Yeah I know, back at a time when Baseball was fun.
@Romanogers4ever That’s right. Are you gonna cry?
@@manifestgtr imagine admitting you were criminals
The security is still more responsive than at Capital Hill.
0:11 when that Taco Bell hits you.
Back at a time when Baseball was fun!
Dude looked like he was running it in for a touchdown lol

That was only two people, but yes they did. Those guys got in trouble and Hank was like “They were just excited 🤷♂️”
Yankee Stadium was for most famous for that for years way back when.
Back in a time when Baseball was fun!
I've still got a copy of the original broadcast of the Disco Sucks doubleheader game. That is so much fun to watch.
Who else saw that fan doing a cartwheel at 0:25 lol

0:50 what da dog doin
We need to bring this back
No way
People nowadays would get a bit… too crazy
@@adrianpena800 People nowadays arent crazy enough to rush the field tho
and this is why there is nets now and other barricades
Whatever happened to Goose Gossage and Bobby Thigpen? I had their cards as a kid.

There were literal horses on the field XD
Imagine being one of the players trying to get out of the swarming fans
Well I guess they had a good time...
Reggie Jackson could have been a great football player. The way he trucked that fan at 0:16, that was a brilliant shoulder block.
I don't like crowds and my mom doesn't want to be in them because of her hand
It must take a lot of police to get that many fans off the field and out of the stadium. People are crazy
that's authentic sport, with spirit
I think mlb ban fans for storming the field after the 95' season.
Omg this is so scary.
How many people got trampled though
Pov zombie outbreak spread in the stadium
Love the vids
i dont know why but my body says that i hate this
