I ask you why is War not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Lesser acts have been inducted, there is something very wrong! It's a travesty in my opinion.
John Romano Agree totally! They were able to mix jazz, latin, soul, rock etc. and enjoy artistic and as well as commercial success and let's not forget, they brought the harmonica into the horn section which gave the group a distinctive sound.
WAR has been nominated 3 times for the R&RHOF, but are constantly dismissed while inducting groups that sample WAR music, example, The Beastie Boys, N.W.A., Tupac Shakur. It is a travesty. Declare WAR for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2018 for 2019. BTW, the more original WAR band is now called the Lowrider Band at facebook.com/LowriderBand. This could be one of the reasons they aren't in. Peace.
Born and raised in Dallas but I remember my dad used to play this song religiously. Later I found out that my pops and mom stayed in Compton and other parts of LA b4 they came back to Texas. Although my grandfather raised me. I'm starting to see some patterns of my parents journey in their lives. Rest In Paradise daddy ❤️
You are so right, and to add insult to injury, the current fake "WAR" band gets all the WAR credit and recognition because they can use the name WAR that was taken from the original WAR artists who are now called the facebook.com/lowriderband. Lonnie Jordan/keyboards who fronts fake "WAR", needs to cut those strings from his puppetmaster producer/thief of the WAR name, and get on back with his four WAR brothers of the LOWRIDER BAND, Howard Scott/guitar, Harold Brown/drums, BB Dickerson/bass, Lee Oskar/harmonica, for us diehard WARriors. RIP to Charles Miller/sax and Papa Dee Allen/conga. Peace.
William Taylor Lonnie Jordan doesn't own the name WAR. WAR's producer, Jerry Goldstein, owns/stole the WAR name from all five surviving WAR artists, even Lonnie Jordan. It's sad to say about someone from my most favorite band, but Lonnie Jordan is basically a puppet on a string. Peace.
rufus317 You're right, WAR rightfully deserves to be inducted, but WAR has NOT been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet. They were nominated in 2008/09, and 2011/12, but the R&RHOF chooses to induct groups such as the Beastie Boys first, instead of these incredible musicians.
I can vividly remember the first time hearing War, it was on AM radio in 1970 Eric Burdon and War “Spill The Wine” I was already hip to The Animals, so I was taken aback for a moment at first, then War minus Burdon released “All Day Music”followed by “The World Is A Ghetto” then “Deliver The Word”..man they became my favorite band, I was fortunate to see the original band live in the mid 70’s, I still have all my vinyl, as well as the cool B&W poster that came with the All Day Music record and continue to enjoy all their great music, very underrated group of Artist 👏🏽✌🏽
I was 21 and as white guys, my friends and I worshipped them. We went to one of their concerts here in Lake Charles, LA back around that time. It was just after they turned out "The World is a Ghetto". I damn near wore out that 8 track tape. Remember those? Great times, those days.
They gave us so much great music, I was blessed to see them at the Greek Theater in the 70s. This shows how talented this band is. They should be a unanimous choice for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
First time I saw WAR live in Toledo, Ohio's Rally by the River, I was waiting for this song my favorite one. Knowing it wasn't one of their highest charting songs, I was really disappointed when they left the stage without playing All Day Music. When they came back on stage for the encore, I couldn't believe my ears. They played it during the encore and chills went down my back. It was so beautiful, I'll never forget it. The next time I saw them in concert the song was before the encore.
WOW look at all these beautiful kids, i was maybe 9 years old back when this was made, oh how i loved 'Soul Train' and 'American Bandstand' back in the day, such cool and happy fun times...lol
Their early stuff is so criminally underrated. It’s a shame that they’re biggest hit/what they're mostly known for is low rider and why can’t we be friends. The first couple of albums had so much soul in them.
Nice to see Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen performing on Soul Train. While I’ve enjoyed the percussionists who have performed with War through the years I will always miss Papa Dee. What a sublime multi Instrumentalist he was. He left us much to soon. RIP 🎶🌟🙏🏼💐🎵
I've seen "WAR", the new act, without Lee Oskar on harmonica. It's just not the same. Waiting for The Lowrider Band to play in my area to get the true WAR feels.
What an awesome live performance! Soul Train and bands such as War did so much to bring Americans together at this time, reminding us all that life's best moments were exactly this: a party in town, making love, riding around, a family picnic at the park- simple, unpretentious, available to us all. Growing up in Santa Barbara, Ca., in the 1970's, this is the world we made for ourselves with the inspiration from bands like War and t.v. like Soul Train. Still believing in this beautiful feeling...
14 freshman year Angels camp Calif best times for cars friends and the best music ever still have my high school car 67 Camaro today's music is dead to me...
Man this one hits me In the emotional part of my heart but in ah good way....dnt get no better then this....live performance you can see they were trying stay according to the studio version but kept losing the rhythm but still managed to still stay in tune with eachother and give such ah amazing performance 🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
correction; they improvised somewhat from the record but they never 'lost the rhythm' in this performance. War was one of the best live bands we ever had
War had the sound that made you feel good, I stand in agreement with you all, I will keep listening to them, let's face it the 70s had the best music ever
I think this the only video where I can see lee Oskar playing the harmonic live.......I'd been looking everywhere......wish I could see him playing Latin Lament.
Did you know Lee Oskar is actually the lead singer on 'Leroy's Latin Lament'? The legendary Lee Oskar still performs WAR music with OriGinal WAR bandmate/brothers as the Lowrider Band at facebook.com/LowriderBand. Here's another vid of him, 'Smile Happy' - ua-cam.com/video/25keQDJEZZU/v-deo.html
They are singing live. Rare for Soul Train. They sound so good
Still no war in the rock n roll hall of fame is crazy one of the great bands
War was a great band and had a different varieties of styles. All day is definitely one of my favorite War songs.
The keyboardist has some very smooth lead vocals man!👍🏿
Doesn't get any better than this ...super tight performance....WAR
So funky fresh... so fly... absolutely amazing... there was no decade like the 70s!!!
I ask you why is War not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Lesser acts have been inducted, there is something very wrong! It's a travesty in my opinion.
....'War' had it's very own genre of music .......and based on that alone ...should be in the Hall of Fame.
John Romano Agree totally! They were able to mix jazz, latin, soul, rock etc. and enjoy artistic and as well as commercial success and let's not forget, they brought the harmonica into the horn section which gave the group a distinctive sound.

hopefully 2019
Raul Pertierra, absolutely right!! They had tons of hits from 70-75. Unbelievable they are not in.
Amazing Band. These dudes were way underrated.

lowriderbandfan i thought lonnie jordan was the only person that got the name ??
William Taylor Lonnie Jordan doesn't own the name WAR. WAR's producer, Jerry Goldstein, owns/stole the WAR name from all five surviving WAR artists, even Lonnie Jordan. It's sad to say about someone from my most favorite band, but Lonnie Jordan is basically a puppet on a string. Peace.
THESE DUDES WERE inducted in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and rightfully deserved it!
rufus317 You're right, WAR rightfully deserves to be inducted, but WAR has NOT been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet. They were nominated in 2008/09, and 2011/12, but the R&RHOF chooses to induct groups such as the Beastie Boys first, instead of these incredible musicians.

I was 13 in '73 and had my dads headphones on listening to the double live War album. I was an instant fan
I remember the album with a hand drawn face the gold teeth smiling haha
The live version of All Day Music on that album is like Gospel to my ears almost
I was 21 and as white guys, my friends and I worshipped them. We went to one of their concerts here in Lake Charles, LA back around that time. It was just after they turned out "The World is a Ghetto". I damn near wore out that 8 track tape. Remember those? Great times, those days.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥they just not making jams like this no more I love the old school ijs
War always had one of the best sounds ever. One of my favorite songs!
For those of you too young, Soul Train to us was glorious! It made me feel so good and so proud!
''Music is what we like to play''!! I love when they vocalize when saying ALL DAY!! I love this band!! 70s they were getting down!!!
*****
I so love this song!! Obsessed! lol
A war fan very surprising
Mechacelzi Y I don't know! I loved them forever!! I love band type music.
***** when was your first listening to them?
Mechacelzi when I was a kid
Reminds me of Los Angeles during my teenage years! Such awesome times!
They gave us so much great music, I was blessed to see them at the Greek Theater in the 70s. This shows how talented this band is. They should be a unanimous choice for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Thanks for that great concert memory.

My kind of music. I can ride to this music all day!! Love it
Cruising my 78 Monte Carlo through all the great neighborhoods in LA. Listening to War, Santana, The Isley Brothers, never want to go home!
BEAUTIFUL !!!
Their early stuff is so criminally underrated. It’s a shame that they’re biggest hit/what they're mostly known for is low rider and why can’t we be friends. The first couple of albums had so much soul in them.
Another music expert...underrated in your head...keep silent.
@@alessandromarchesini9039 hoss alert!
I saw them in concert in Seattle ~78 with the Commodores. I've been a fan for 45 years.
I still love this Band. Real Musicians
Nice to see Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen performing on Soul Train. While I’ve enjoyed the percussionists who have performed with War through the years I will always miss Papa Dee.
What a sublime multi Instrumentalist he was. He left us much to soon. RIP 🎶🌟🙏🏼💐🎵
This is my favorite WAR song!!! Brings back so many great memories!:)
Love how the harmonica brings the song to life in this video.
guerillajack27 totally agree
I've seen "WAR", the new act, without Lee Oskar on harmonica. It's just not the same. Waiting for The Lowrider Band to play in my area to get the true WAR feels.
And bongos or congas add soul to the music .
Beautiful music like this can only be made with selfless devotion and an open heart - so lucky to have grown up with these geniuses!
Making love by just riding around is one of the best lyrics ever written and most accurate in the description of the times.
One of the few performances on Soul Train done live. Loved it.
Good call. I was going to say the same. Awesome performance.
This music gives me the chills. Those horns just killed it! I miss real talent so much :(
These guys have been one of my favorite bands as long as I can remember. Well loved by many fans.
Listen to the band play instruments and sing all at same time , a Lost ART in todays society, this music soothes the SOUL
Oh, this brings back such good memories of when I was a little girl in the 70s. War was epic, and highly underated. This song is everything!

One of the greatest live bands EVER! They'd dance to anything on Soul Train.
First time hearing anybody play/sing live on Soul Train...this was great.

These guys had so many hits. I hope they made their money.
This is a classic performance on Soul Train!

This is actually live. Love it. Thank You!
