Incredible album , knew they had the capability to produce something like this. This song would make a great set closer The sky’s the limit with this band
I discovered this band about 8 years ago.. and I haven’t got tired of listening to them..amazing music..definitely one of my favorite bands in the top 3..love the dual guitars as always
Darker still is still my favorite on this album, but this was awesome. I don't know why so many people are hating on this album. Some of it might be a change of pace but still well made.
I offer neither pay, nor quarters, nor food; I offer only hunger, thirst, forced marches, battles, and death. Let him who loves his country with his heart, and not merely his lips, follow me into the heart of darkness HOOAH!
"Fury be my victory"... my God, that one really strikes a certain cord within me. How would one translate that line to Latin, I would like to have it engraved on a certain personal belonging. Tried several online translators, but they consistently translate it to something along the lines of "fury/anger is my victory". I don't want that, unless it's interchangeable with "fury be my victory", of course.
Heh, do a reverse translation of that phrase. I think you'll get a nice hoot out of it. As much as these AI tools can sometimes impress us in many fields it is important to remember this technology is still in its infancy. Anyway thanks for the effort, much appreciated.
After listening to it all, it is a bit better than Reverence (thank God). Here and there you can see glimpses of greatness, one guitar solo here, a breakdown there, some scream. Still doesnt sound great all together. Best part of this album was without a doubt the riffing.
I have to start by saying I loved Parkway Drive. Their first 4 albums literally are masterpieces. This new Parkway is almost like an SNL skit. It's so cheesy and the one liners are written for 12 year old angsty preteen ideology. I'm shocked at how every song just sounds like a Pirates Of The Caribbean track and the vocals are like Emo Pirates trying to sound poetic. It's sad to see. When bands like Deftones continue to improve, Parkway is continue to fall, yet they get more popular, which shows the tastes in music all around the world are declining. The vocals at this point are literally laughable.
Pirates Of The Caribbean track? You couldn't be anymore inaccurate with that statement if you tried!!! haha What you're failing to hear (if you haven't already) is that they're taking a lot of elements from 80's and 90's heavy metal/melodic metal and making it their own. Not denying that there's some hit and miss moments along the way but why is it that after 3 albums (IRE, Reverence and Darker Still) you're still comparing it with their old records? Like...how many more records do they need to make for you to realise that they are DONE making metal core music? It's almost like you're living with a sense of false hope.
@theparadiddlydoo2771 yes it is a FALSE sense of hope. Deftones have changed but they still put out AMAZING albums that arent cheesy or cringey or sellout bubble gum garbage. They actually TRY to create something new and unique. This is Nickelback meets Pirates of the Caribbean. Its embarassing that this band went from badass and real to commercial radio sellout trash. Its embarrassing as a fan since basically day 1 and it's embarrassing to see who listens to them now.
@@dustyjeffers5716 But that's exactly what THEY would feel. They're trying to create something that's new for them to play. The style that they are now isn't exactly new or unique. But guess what? What they created with their first 3 records wasn't unique or new either! They weren't the first to do it and there had already been bands that'd done that style in the years before. I'd much rather see them take ideas from heavy metal and put their own interpretation on it than continue to stay in one genre of music and not feel inspired, which is what they've previously stated when it comes to the song writing process. Why would it be embarrassing to see who listens to them? You've got some very unusual ideas when it comes to understanding the process behind a bands evolution. Like "oh no, they changed their sound! These guys are radio rock sellouts now". All whilst failing to realise that they are influenced by heavy metal and the sounds you hear come from bands from the 80's and 90's metal scene, as well as some more modern day influences. It's the furthest things from selling out. However, if they make an album (front to back) that sounds like Vice Grip or Devil's Calling, then yeah, that's a problem. But as I mentioned, it's all Heavy metal/ melodic metal influences from certain decades that's inspiring their song writing these days. Nothing to do with "radio rock".
@theparadiddlydoo2771 bro your take is so wrong. But that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But imagine a band like METALLICA suddenly started making garbage pop rock music.... oh wait they Did! And many people jumped ship. That's exactly why MANY fans have left Parkway in the dust. Because we know they were a better band and can do much better than this cookie cutter nickelback style radio friendly nonsense. Deftones and Tool and Lamb Of God and Unearth and even LED ZEPPELIN AND PINK FLOYD never became a mockery of themselves... they evolved but continue to get better or at least challenge themselves to not become corporate radio nonsense. Parkway is dead me and many other fans from day 1
@theparadiddlydoo2771 when Winston sang these stupid lyrics in the ridiculously cheesy way he sings them he probably laughed and thought what the hell have I become. Its hilarious drivel
What on earth happened to these guys? Did I miss something? With a heavy heart, I have actually disliked every song on this album. These guys got me through 3 deployments in their early years, I have seen them 5 or 6 times, and lost a lot of blood in their pit. I was honored to bleed for these guys. Doubt I’ll even go to another show at this point….what a let down
I can certainly understand how someone could not like some of the songs on the album, especially those with a change of pace. But this song is classic Parkway Drive, just beastly!
Sorry but this needs to be said ive been a fan since watching them live with prom queen and if id heard this shit back then I wouldve booed them off-stage, welcome to generic cowboy metal people I know im not alone in saying this is their worst album
fom Wacken headliner to this.. R.I.P Parkway Drive 💀 2010-2018 the only thing good about this band is only the lead Guitarist now.. shit album with OK melodies

I agree
I offer neither pay, nor quarters, nor food; I offer only hunger, thirst, forced marches, battles, and death. Let him who loves his country with his heart, and not merely his lips, follow me into the heart of darkness HOOAH!

In Latin, "Fury be my victory" can be translated as "Furor sit mea victoria."
