I've come back to this album after watching the documentary. It's honestly one of the best things to come from the mdm scene in years. Gateways is such a monumental track, can't wait for the new album.

"Conditional" was the last song I played in my Nissan sentra 2021 coming back from the Katatonia show in Worcester MA back to Hartford, Connecticut. As I was driving down I 84 West in Tolland, a deer struck me, car got totalled, I got out unharmed. I stopped listening to metal since then but I like to see people's comments on these videos once in a while. These guys got so much talent!!

I went to the Montreal show, amazing experience! With such a talented and experienced melodeath lineup, I'm not surprised but still amazed by the quality of your whole album. If he's a musician, then it's likely he's not "wrong," and that this is more simple or more derivative or less creative than the bands it's emulating, but you and I, as laymen (I assume you are, obviously I could be wrong) just hear cool music done well. We're not listening for virtuoso performances or something belonging to the top 1% of quality. For us, top 10% of quality will do just fine. For him, I'm sure that it just means the best, the most skilled, the most creative, are being belittled when we call something like this a "masterpiece," a word reserved for the elite.

IMO it's a simpler version of the gothenburg style and you know, blablabla they will never make another album like the classic IF and DT albums, but that's not their goal! :D it's melodeath in a modern version. And honestly, for a first album written by two guitarists who did not write in this style completely anymore since at least 15 years, this is even more admirable. I hear the second album is going to be more riff-based, so there's that \m/
The Fathers of Swedish melodic death metal of "Göttenburg style" in one band! Awesome. This album is exactly how I would propose it will be with my favourite metal musicians by far. The second could be the same and would be perfect, but anyway I want to be surprised by "something different from the same kitchen"

I see more of the same old Dark Tranquility here than anything from any good era of In Flames between 2012 and 2023...and this sounds extremely predictable in most of it. Tracks sound way too similar, same boring vocals, that sound better as DT and not this. Yall really fell for the nostalgic formation it seems.
