Yes, that' s Shawn Wayans. In Living Color was created by Keenen Ivory Wayans. Marlon, Kim, Damon were part of the cast. Also, this show produced future stars: Jamie Foxx, JLO, Rosie Perez, and Jim Carrey just to name a few.
Kim, Keenan, and Damon are top tier writers and comedy actors. Shawn should have just stuck with being SW-1, Marlon should have been a voice actor and nothing more. Shawn and Marlon always seemed like the generic version of the Wayans'. Like ordering a Wayans off of Temu. The gene pool got spread too thin, but nepotism gave them a career even though all the real talent ended with their older siblings. 🤷♂️
It was the Wayans brothers show, in addition to the Wayan brothers themselves it stared legendary comedians Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier.
You succumbed. We appreciate it. Congratulations on all those views in the last few days. You got passion. You can tell you made a good choice too. Your VIP and you're "kicking it!"
Imitation is the sincerest form of Flattery, 😂 "In Living Colour" in it's time was the best comedy show on TV 📺, the Wayan Brothers, Sister and other's hilarious,😄 you should check it out, be prepared to laugh your ass off! 😂😁😅 Peace 😊✌️ Gary
The song was a sample of Under Pressure, a hit by Queen with David Bowie. They did not get any songwriting credit or any royalties until after the song was already a hit. Vanilla Ice had to settle out of court when Queen/Bowie threatened a copyright lawsuit. I think it was the first hip hop record to go to #1 on Billboard.
Jim Carrey also spoofed 'Snow': Canadian wanna-be Jamaican rapper in '91 with his Rastafarian-kinda-soundin' "Informer" rap when Jim was in 'In Living Color'!✌️🥶👌
Vanilla said in a recent interview that he loved it and was amazed that Jim Carrey had noticed him enough to do the parody. In Living Color was a fantastic show, with the skits, dancing, and all the talent. Here is the short clip of Vanilla Ice talking about it. ua-cam.com/video/w5zJVq2yr5g/v-deo.html
Lots of people say a lot of negative stuff about the man but he says all those ‘hood’ stories did not originate from him. It was a marketing scheme from his handlers that backfired. Also, this album was a huge, huge seller.
Great choice! This was sooooo funny!!! You brought out a point that only a black person would notice. " why didnt they accept him?" Im not sure if the answer would not be censored. But you all ready know the answer. You do. I also think he did not live as the old school rappers did. The ghetto, the poverty, the racism. Eminem did. He also respected those who did the music first. Theres one thing to join and be a part of somethung. But when one doesnt know what it feels like, but wants to profit all the same, they were like, " no." Rap should have stayed where light and fun were a part. This begun the turn to " gangsta rap," and what good has that really done for our people?
Glad you were able to check out this parody! I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Vanilla Ice wasn't happy about it. If you like the Ice train, you can check out the movie he did at the time 'Cool As Ice'. Then you'll see why his career was pretty much toast in less than a year. If you want to hear another white rapper at the time, there's Snow's 'Informer', which Jim Carrey also parodied on In Living Color.
Yes his name is Rob Van Winkle. A lot of people accused Ice of being what today they would call a "culture vulture" but just like Eminem, he was trying to be something he wasn't. He grew up in the hood. That was what he knew. But eventually enough "real rappers" made fun of him for being a joke and when Gangsta Rap came in it was over. But Ice has never stopped recording or touring and To The Extreme (the album with "Ice Ice Baby" sells between 3-5 MILLION copies a year still today.
It's easy to lump IC# and Em together and dismiss them as Culture Vultures because of skin. And while ICE is fairly talented he's no Slim Shady. No one is. Even guys that hate his ass have to agree he's the best once they actually listen to him.
at the time, a Jim Carrey impression would have been the least of his problems with regards to criticism. He was representing himself as from the streets and was being called out by rappers and gangsters for real. Plus he was being lumped in with Hammer and rappers were calling that a sellout etc.
Thanks ImBoogie! You say Classic Hip-hop is a breath of fresh air to you. You are a breath of fresh air to me and others born in that era. Love you. Keep it up. I've donated $10 to your channel (to start) and I only ask you react to "Colors" video by Ice T and "Summer Vacation" by Ice Cube". Thank you 🎉
Sorry also, gen X grew up hard and just because some of us were no where near a ghetto, we understood, hard. We understood pain so we understood the old school rappers and we grieved for them because we in the suburbs, white and black, were not living near the city and had no idea how bad it was. Those artists and musicians showed us through their music but we also had those who were like, " just dance, color doesnt matter "
vanilla ice used to be unrecognised and unaccepted in the hip hop scene everyone said vanilla ice was commercial pop music and not a real rapper for example 3rd bass was also a white hip hop crew but they were accepted in the hip hop scene even by the black community but today you can listen to vanilla ice you are not uncool as you are an old school classic sorry for my bad english it is not my language
When "Ice Ice Baby" was released in the early 90s, of course we were like "what is this white dude doing?" Vanilla Ice, real name Robert Van Winkle (no joke) made up a whole "I'm from the hood" backstory to gain street cred in the rap community. Turns out that he's NOT. In fact, far from it. He was about as suburban as anyone could be. I think it was his manager that finally ratted him out. Suge Knight did punk him, but that was years later. If you're curious about a white rapper who's REALLY from the hood, check out "Informer" by Canadian artist Snow. Informer was released around the same time, but Snow couldn't do a promo tour - because he was in jail...
Hey hey Boogie, I'm pretty sure you'll laugh your ass off if you watch an episode of the TV show this video was from. I mean if you nearly the entire damned Wayans family performing sketch comedy or djing or writing etc. The show was HUGE when it dropped blowing peoples minds. So many great comedians came up and thrived through that show. Respect.
Vanilla Ice broke into the rap scene owned by 99.9% of the brothers. Racial issues were high, the gang activity, bloods and crips violence was also at it's peak...
Gen X'ers are nostalgic AF(for the most part) and they'll come if you react to anything we loved when we were kids/teenagers. Another tip for ya, if you want to blow up even more, react to the band TOOL. The Army will come out and support you!
This skit ended Vanilla Ice's career and image overnight. Nobody could take him seriously after that and that actually made the songs a lot more fun. It's really hard to explain what happened.
For a follow up you should do the original and Jim Carrey's version of Informer by Snow. edit - no spoilers ... but if you can listen to the original Informer audio only the first time, then watch the video.
My recollection of the rise and fall of Vanilla Ice was Ice Ice Baby came out and went straight to the top of the charts but we quickly learned he was an upper middle class kid who went to art school or dance school and created his character. Then he started banging Madonna, then every other rapper in the world mocked him and he quickly became a punchline.

I'm so glad you saw this version! 😸 And really great to see you react to all versions back to back. Vanilla's one pop hit wonder was pretty cringe when it came out tbh, compared to the underground rappers with so much more rap skills, same as MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This" and Kool Moe Dee's "Go See The Doctor" songs. But alot liked those songs and became hits. MC Hammer's song "Can't Touch This" is pretty fun and funny tho! 😺
They were jealous, he was the first white rapper we ever saw. And he just took off. He made rap main stream. I remember seeing him perform live when I was going to school in the Miami area. He was a nice guy. Maybe he was a pretender I don't know. But the song was a good one regardless.
Ohhhh baby!! You need to watch some In Living Color! Wayans everywhere..lol
Shawn Wayans, yeah, he was the DJ. :) In Living Color was one of the best shows ever on TV.
That show was called In Living Color. The fastest 30 minutes on Earth every week!!!
SW-1

I’ve seen more Vanilla Ice in the last month than the last 2 decades
Vanilla ice never saw this til a couple years ago and he praised it. He even said his grandma gave him the jacket he wore in Ice Ice Baby.
Hahahah
He saw it back then, he didn't like it then, I saw him say it
that’s not at all true .. he 100% saw this when it first aired and wasn’t happy about at all
He was never accepted because he claimed that he was from the streets when he really wasn't. He was seen as a pretender and a novelty act.
That's basically nwa with the exception of Eazy
It was the Wayans brothers show, in addition to the Wayan brothers themselves it stared legendary comedians Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier.
I also like Jim Carrey's version of informer by snow
I think that one was even better than vanilla ice
And licky boom boom dowwwwn!
Jim Carey Killed it!!!!
Carrey
You succumbed. We appreciate it. Congratulations on all those views in the last few days. You got passion. You can tell you made a good choice too. Your VIP and you're "kicking it!"
Vanilla Ice rolled with the punches and came out on top.
3rd Bass made a Vanilla Ice diss song "Pop Goes The Weasel" that also has a video
I saw a reaction thing with Vanilla Ice - he said he laughed the whole time. also, the wayans brothers did the show - In Living Color
ua-cam.com/video/UZjLD40cJpY/v-deo.html
Vanilla ice seen this and thought it was funny as hell and said he loves jim Carrey's humor and talent
So happy for you!!!
Since you like comedy i HIGHLY recommend you watch the 90’s show “In Living Color”, I LOVED IT!! 😂
Hey bro, I hope your channel keeps blowin up!! I love your reactions. They make a bad day good!!!
Boogie I would watch you reacting to comedy all day long 🫶
In Living Color is genius!
This is what people who were wholeheartedly into hip hop thought about Vanilla Ice. He wasn't liked. They saw him as a plant.
There is nothing wrong with the song. Until about the ten thousandth time you hear it, in one month. It absolutely took over radio, Mtv, and events.
Jim Carrey also spoofed 'Snow': Canadian wanna-be Jamaican rapper in '91 with his Rastafarian-kinda-soundin' "Informer" rap when Jim was in 'In Living Color'!✌️🥶👌
You got all those views because you are legitimately an amazing person with such awesome energy. Keep doing what you do!! I’m happy to have found you
Jim Carry the real og here, he spittin all facts and funny af.
Vanilla said in a recent interview that he loved it and was amazed that Jim Carrey had noticed him enough to do the parody. I remember this and "In Living Color". Those were the days.
In Living Color was a Wayans brothers show.
For whatever reason Vanilla Ice was not taken seriously by the rap community. Ice ice baby was a commercial hit but considered a sellout.
Glad to hear that your channel is getting a lot of traffic bro 🙌🏼 nice
Ice got a lot of hate back in the day. He's past all of it, but he did not have it easy.
Classic. ILC was some of the BEST TV we just don't get anymore and it's a damn SHAME. Best part of my weekends as a kid.
Everybody loved that song in its day, it took a little while for the backlash to kick in
Jim Carrey is the king of comedy
Bro you gonna blow up. I predict 50k+ subz by the new year.. maybe 100k 💪🏼🔥😎❤️
It’s just like when you buy a car, you tell your friends you got a new car. It’s new to you.
Thanks so much for the laughs!!! I really enjoyed that!! Congrats on the suds and views!!! You're being blessed, and your prayers are being answered.
❤❤❤
So cool watching you discover stuff we have been loving forever!
5:20 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Congrats man, keep going!
Vanilla Ice loved it, he has a sense of humor unlike some others
Lots of people say a lot of negative stuff about the man but he says all those ‘hood’ stories did not originate from him. It was a marketing scheme from his handlers that backfired. Also, this album was a huge, huge seller.
Us gen x'ers enjoy watching you young cats listen to music that actually hits and has meaning...👍
Great choice! This was sooooo funny!!! You brought out a point that only a black person would notice. " why didnt they accept him?" Im not sure if the answer would not be censored. Really enjoying your reactions!!! Viewing from New Jersey
I was hoping someone was going to tell you to react to this.
Ice Vanilla "played it" like he was from the *Hood* but grew up in a upper class middle class family. That was all the hate was about.
Glad you were able to check out this parody! I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Vanilla Ice wasn't happy about it. View common I used to love her
Geto Boys! Can’t wait for that reaction whoop whoop!
I forgot about this cover! 😂
Thanks algorithm!
*'COOL AS ICE'* Movie came out in 1991 and *BOMBED* hard... didnt help his case.
Congrats on the views blowing up!
Keenan ivory was the creator, Shawn was the DJ, Jennifer Lopez was one of the “fly girls”, the dancers

Congrats on 11k!!
Love your videos. Wishing you continued success! 🙌
Thanks For The Donation Jeff I Really Appreciate The Support It Means A Lot God Bless .🙏

Also check out the wrapping Duke song in the same name Curtis blows basketball oh my God I'm having a brain fart oh well
Ya gotta try "Slice, Slice Baby" by the Merkins. Its a parody that even Vanilla Ice loves it
GRANDMASTER FLASH
AND. THE. FURIOUS. FIVE
....... MELLIE MEL
Finally got a real mic
Fire reaction man 🔥
The song was fire, but like a firecracker. Pop it was done, thus, we felt it was pop, not hip-hop .
Pace yourself, my guy.
The song took off, I think it was vanilla’s first. Rumor was that he didn’t fulfill promises to those who helped him.
When "Ice Ice Baby" was released in the early 90s, of course we were like "what is this white dude doing?"

It was ninja rap, rap community was incredibly stupid when I was kid. Now we got rap songs in every movie. Ahead of his time.
It certainly hasn't hurt Tupac for going to dance school.

Under pressure is from queen it was out way before venella ice
J lo was a fly girl on this show!
Since he like story tellers he should try Kwame’. House music Jungle Brothers

I love this😂
This was before Eminem when white rappers weren't that popular yet. Seven members of the Wayans family worked on In Living Color.
Watch as one of the fire marshal bill or homie da clown bits
Back in the day at least, Vanilla Ice could not in fact take a joke lol
You need to check out Kim Waynens as Whitney Houston’s. In Living Color was ahead of the times and competed with SNL as far as comedy
If you want top notch music parody - it has to be Weird Al - his white and nerdy or gangsta parody pastiche - amiche paradise
Vinilla Ice was mixed with Jamaican living in Canada. He had a hard row to hoe.
They were jealous, he was the first white rapper we ever saw. And he just took off. He made rap main stream. I remember seeing him perform live when I was going to school in the Miami area. He was a nice guy. Maybe he was a pretender I don't know. But the song was a good one regardless.
