    Why hasn't Subaru figured out they can just use a felpro gasket

      Too much money, they like keeping a cheap car inexpensive.

      RTV is not an issue. How and how much you apply is crucial.

      @@melissasmess2773 Just bill to the customers. What's another $50-100 on top of a $30k car. Or make better compromises elsewhere that's not critical.

      If Subaru applied RTV properly it makes sense in a factory setting. Its inexpensive and it works well. But certainly for when the day comes to disassemble the engine for whatever reason a tried and true gasket would be so much easier and more reliable for resealing the engine.

    Have you seen this happen on any VB WRX? Should I consider dropping my pan and resealing it?

    Does the 2023 Subaru BRZ suffer with this large excessive amount of RTV as well?

      I own a 2023 BRZ and have not experienced any issues. 2nd oil change. Monitor with a oil pressure gauge. So far so good! Thankfully.

      theres been plenty of people on FB and the forums with the same exact amount as the 22s lol. They didn't change anything because it's a non-issue to them and honestly it really isn't a big deal for most... That said, would be nice if it wasn't even a thing.

    Is this junk cheaper than a gasket why not just use a gasket it would make the quality better and go back to a regular transmission the better the quality the more you can sell unless you're doing this to make more money by having owner's having to make more repairs if so that's greed and stupid 😮

      It’s cheaper for sure, twenty bucks to seal the whole engine with a tube of RTV. Other than the timing chain cover, I suppose everything else can be sealed with a precut gasket. The biggest problem with these gaskets is prepping the surfaces for adhesion. The huge chain cover is especially difficult because there is just so much room for mistake. The seal is so long I can’t imagine there ever being a precut gasket that long. Maybe Subaru should design the part in sections, I just don’t know why they made it so ridiculously long.

    Any symptoms, as in, low oil pressure light?

    • @CMAutohaus
      @CMAutohaus  5 місяців тому +1

      You will find RTV in the oil. Oil pressure light is a waste - you can run many Subaru engines on 1 qt (total) of oil and the pressure light will never come on
