My theory is that it's literally a stairway to heaven, usually breaking you down til you're just a soul and then letting you through the "gate". However, the last test subject was too sinful (all he can respond with in his last moments is "I'm sorry") to be allowed into heaven, and it merely murders him.
Yeah but sometimes when they are really desperate they hire innocent people to do so as well and they also get people who do lesser crimes to be D-class as well.
I would like to see 2 different experiments here. 1: using a drone to fly w/o having to touch or "climb" the stairs 2: use Dr Bright to climb the stairs, hes immortal and can explain what happens afterwords when/if he dies
Put like ten of the finest cables onto the amulet then pull it back unless it would also dissolve the amulet somehow (we don't know if it will or won't)
Transport zygote via drone to 1st story. Repeat. Now get people on 2nd story to make the babs. (lol). Now repeat until science is done. Alternatively, a self-refining, stair-climbing drone (one that could fix its own case and electronics via burning them down, removing impurities, and re-creating parts at a time) might be better.
I wonder if a drone of some kind would be able to ascend. My logic for this is that it's not actually touching the steps as it ascends so it may provide a loophole to the rapid decay this SCP causes. I could very easily be wrong, I don't know much at all about technology so there could easily be another way to explore the stair case that I'm oblivious to.
Jeannette Dahlia-Harvey Chances are, the Drone WILL decay because Metal can in fact suffer Fatigue, which is basically the metal aging. And the video said that the team lost video footage with the D-Class subject, concluding that the Camera's battery is also affected.
MrMonsterHunter 808 probably because it wouldn't have an effect on the Twinkie because they don't expire. although now that I think about it the cable would probably erode that is if it's effected
The building is made from limestone which is also called to as calcium carbonate, so seeing as it these elements are present in the human body and it is specifically mentioned that they were seemingly leeched of calcium, then yeah, that theory makes sense. I mean why else mention it's limestone other than for that?
Wait, isn't there a fountain of youth under the watch of the Foundation? If that's the case, then couldn't they just use water and keep going up? I mean, idk what would happen, though I do believe it could work.
But plastics decay over time. They may not be bio degradable but they fall apart over time nonetheless. What schuld works are "ageless" materials. Gold, Platinum and the like.
This remind me of how distance and time were represented to me in my Astronomy classes. Stairs were used to create a sense of scale. Each step represents some number of miles or in many cases light years. I've seen this demonstration done twice. The first was to accurately depict how far the planets are from each other in our solar system. The second was to demonstrate the hypothesized expansion of the universe which results in everything moving so far away from everything else that the universe itself is in complete darkness. It was a really interesting demonstration of where the line between space and time begins to blur and what entropy really means. So, I guess that's what this staircase is to me. It's the line where space and time become inseparable. As you ascend by moving upwards in space, you age because each step is also a jump in time.
Imagine the implications if 682 integrates it's effect into his body. If he becomes able to age people to death in seconds. Or maybe he'd just be too big to fit.
Kim Y not true, there was a scp that permanently killed 682, but the cost was that life on a cellular level died along him in that particular dimension.
I theorize that within the staircase is a threshold between this and another dimension that is both out of sync with ours in both space and time. By ascending the staircase your journey takes both a few minutes AND several decades as a result of the difference in the properties of time here and there. I think it was created intentionally by the inhabitants of the other dimension but quickly abandoned when attempts to access our dimension were plagued by similar, possibly inverse affects affected the people of that realm as they tried to use their portal.
Hey,I like the way you think. But there's probably a way that we could unravel the secret as to how this staircase is able to span across different space-time periods in different dimensions within each step
after the 5th step? hmm I think with the person saying there was a "door" or "blackness" after being pulled down means that maybe there's a too. holding dark secrets or holding rare items in which you would have to know a code so the stairs do not age you. to do the code would be before the 5th step like step up to stair 3 step down to 2 then up to four then down to 1 and then you can go through without aging. like a code thing.
I also mean like there would be some kind of stepping code and this could be backed up by how it was a church? maybe it contains the. holy grail and those who climb it age and go to heavan or hell or other religion depending on what type a church it was or maybe the church was put a curse on or something like demons and stuff
So people can stop asking: No, this SCP can not kill 682. In fact, SCP 682 wouldn't use the stairs anyway because he's not an idiot. I'm sure it has more knowledge of SCPs than humans do. It's already been said, if they actually manage to destroy 682, the universe is going to go right along with it.
I have a theory, not sure if someone's typed it already, but here it goes. The stairway rapidly ages each subject as they walk towards the "Door" in question, because the door is the door to Death. You would LITERALLY be at Death's door. Since everything, both alive and inanimate, have an end of functionality (Such as death or degradation of the copper wires) and would be because ageing is the progression towards that end of functionality (Death). Whether or not anything is beyond that door is still a mystery, but one would think that it could be the door to death. A good question would be if ageing still occurs if the subject stays stationary after the fourth or fifth step. Just a thought.
maybe this is just a stairway that has the same effects on time as does a black hole. The time dilation is so great that when the people of the outside get the data back and get their instruction in, a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGG time has passed.
This has to be the stairway that the Main Character in the poem 'The Outsider' climbs. (I'm not talking about The Outsiders, that's a book, I'm talking about The Outsider, a poem.)
What would happen if they send a sample of scp 682 up there? Obviously they won't manage to get it to the top as the container would decay, but would the sample be affected?
Lennon1398 And then the foundation could try and get him to tell them about it. Good plan, but getting Able to cooperate would be difficult, if not impossible. They could try forcing him, but I highly doubt that would go well, all things considered.
Angela M Ricks Drones would suffer fatigue, and how would they get a rope up there, since ascending literally does the effect of Aging, WAIT, SEND A JELLYFISH, THOSE THINGS ARE IMMUNE TO AGING, MEIN GOTT! *Starts attaching Camera's to Jellyfish, and starts the Flappy Birds music.*
They should try using a mirror, or a light, perhaps something undecayable with no electricity running through it, and have they tried sending anyone down the stairs.
What if an organic recording device could be created with a lifespan of substantial length, the ability to move on it's own, and an umbilical cord connected to a monitor that displays what the eye on the other end can see? Presumably, this device would be able to continue recording and displaying visual information for the entire climb of the tower. Alternatively a regular film camera put through SCP-914 might be able to resist the tower's effects.
I think that while climbing the stairs they re-experience past memories. Btw they didn't try to climb it while not touching the stairs with speleo stuff?
what if you throw something made of gold or platinum in, those elements cannot rust or tarnish in any way. or what if they send that jellyfish that resets there life cycle up there?
Kim Jong Un Even tanks have a Service Life, Drones too, the SCP would likely cause the metal or material to weaken, until fatigue sets in, and the drone collapses, and they lose control of it. Oh and I see you weren't paying attention to the video when the reader literally said that the team lost video footage.
what is the oposite of this thing? I mean, is there a scp that makes younger? Also what I'm allways wondering... who are these test-persons? Members of scp who are willing to risk their lives? Criminals? Would really like to know
toongrowner1 the test subjects are Class D subjects. Death row inmates given the choice of execution or working as a test subject, and if they survive a year, being given political, economical, criminal, etc. immunity. The average employment time is a couple weeks before horrible death

it kinda seems like a stair way to the afterlife to me, if a person lives a good life there is no reason for them to worry so they feel compelled to keep moving forward seeing their past loved ones as they ascend, however if they were bad people in their life then they are forced to face every person they ever wronged.... idk thats my thought
the subject mentioned a door way do it could be a doorway to heaven meaning the staircase forces the person to age and die because the living can't enter heaven through the door.
Ravonies Ravenshir You need someone with Individuality to send someone up there, babies don't have Individuality yet (I couldn't see sh!t until Age 5), plus how has no one thought of throwing a Jellyfish up there, Jellyfish are basically immortal by basically pressing the Reset Button on their Life Cycle.
+Caleb Carper It only attracts if you step into it plus there have been traps known to not warn people cause hey there are messed up individuals(unknown entities in this case) that don't care who gets caught in the trap. I am still curious about the door though I like the mystery of not knowing but it is annoying at the same time .
Since the story says this is in an abandoned church, perhaps this is the mythical, stairway to heaven, and ascending to heaven, or wherever, means that one must die.
"For we convinced physicists, the distinction between past, present, and future is only an illusion, however persistent." -Albert Einstein- Is it likely that the staircase is alive and sucking the invisible life force out of the ascender... Or is it more likely that each step is a different when in a different place?
My theory is that it's literally a stairway to heaven, usually breaking you down til you're just a soul and then letting you through the "gate". However, the last test subject was too sinful (all he can respond with in his last moments is "I'm sorry") to be allowed into heaven, and it merely murders him.
Abigail Palmer oh this is definitely true
Wait but they were all D-personnel so that means there were D-personnel which were not murderers or stuff like that that got sent down there?
Jazzy Drawz
Aren't D class just people who are on death row or won't be missed? (Their disappearances easily explained or no family to look for them?)
Yeah but sometimes when they are really desperate they hire innocent people to do so as well and they also get people who do lesser crimes to be D-class as well.
This is also the opposite of scp 087.
They weren't kidding when they said there's a disappearance of local youth.
goddamnit
I would like to see 2 different experiments here.

but if the host keeps dying before they reach the top, they're constantly resetting their progress

this is why i can't trust stairs because they're always *up* to something

however some people feel down about it, wanna step up?

is it alarming that I live in a sparsely populated area in England and live near an abandoned church that is considered cursed...?
No

Why not see where this "door" went to? I'm curious.
JacobIsLonely door?
Inwë Meneldur Maybe I misheard, but I think one of the test subjects mentioned a door when going up the stairs
Climb up and look at a photograph of 096, then run up the stairs as fast as your elderly legs can take you.
Stewartsaurus I was thinking about the same thing
Well I doubt it would do anything

I guess the water would evaporate or something similar.
bum170 Or the storage container of the water would rot away.

Send the "hard to kill lizard" up the stairs and they will never have to deal with him ever again.
+UltimateNinjaShark Oh, the Foundation knows this. It's just that he's called "hard-to-kill" for a reason, even to the most diabolical SCP treatments.
Heres the problem what if he adapts to them
But wht if he realy is just a baby right now
+GunlessSnake If the lizard cannot be destroyed outside
it can be destroyed in the *inside*

Get all the scps to climb the stairs

some dont age
Ah yes so the SCP that's just porn can climb stares now? No? Okey!
Apart from a few Keters a lot of them they don't want to kill most scps.
They are trying to contain them not kill them, thats what the Chaos organisation does
So like weeping angels they feed off of potential energy..all the years that the subject would/could live.

I'm so glad that I found your channel, these videos are wonderful! Thank you for doing these readings.
Im love scp readings its so awesome keep up the good work dawn ;)

How have I never heard of you before? I love this stuff. You got me hooked, way easier than scouring the site.
It would be interesting to have a participant with a subject regenerative SCP like the locket while going up these stairs
It’s just a temporal anomaly. Some kind rupture in space/time. I don’t think it’s meant to be any thing supernatural. It all sounds Star Treky.
What's at the bottom of 087, 723 of course! Great, just... great.
Chris Fusion I love this idea!
Let's test this on Jack Harkness
Hello sweetie -Fellow whovian
Fantastic!

I love this channel I spent 4 hours watching all this

Might want to walk around, Clots have formed in your legs.
Havent watched one of these for like 1.5 years, like them a lot more. :)
Great video as always and I love your voice keep up the great work gemodawn :)
Perfect example of an SCP that can appear as a common object of everyday life
I think something is on the stairs that knows their past or reads intot he person's life because the one guy kept saying sorry.
Might be a good idea to Send a certain lizard up those stairs ( though I doubt it will work)

Is it just me or is Gemo's voice really soothing and calming, it's putting me to sleep in a good way 😪😪😪😪😞 hm what I didn't fall asleep, heh heh 😶
Keep up the great work! I really love your videos.
i ain't climbin up deez stairs

A stairwell to your own aged demise. Hrm.

Great vid like always
maybe this is just a stairway that has the same effects on time as does a black hole. The time dilation is so great that when the people of the outside get the data back and get their instruction in, a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGG time has passed.
Thegamerof Sciensus no black hole you would see time go faster outside
It sounds to me like a stairway to heaven. The higher you walk up, the closer to the end of your life you get.
+Tuna icecream Fuck that shit, send Able up there.
+Lennon1398 Even after he died, he would just reform in scp-076-1 in six months to twenty years anyway.
The Foot Exactly.
Lennon1398 And then the foundation could try and get him to tell them about it. Good plan, but getting Able to cooperate would be difficult, if not impossible. They could try forcing him, but I highly doubt that would go well, all things considered.
The Foot Eh, they got him to cooperate with them before.
Why won't they try having someone descend the stairs by hoisting them up and letting them walk down? What exactly would that do?
Angela M Ricks
Drones would suffer fatigue, and how would they get a rope up there, since ascending literally does the effect of Aging, WAIT, SEND A JELLYFISH, THOSE THINGS ARE IMMUNE TO AGING, MEIN GOTT!
*Starts attaching Camera's to Jellyfish, and starts the Flappy Birds music.*
How about we try sending in children? They may have a bit more time
InKryption
There's Puberty, and Scoliosis... Oh and your bones become weak, that CPR can break your ribs.
I will be willing to walk up.
Maybe teenagers would be better.
Alternate theory: Instead of it being a living organism it is a time warp anomaly that prevents it from decaying.
OMG I love your voice it's so nice
They should try using a mirror, or a light, perhaps something undecayable with no electricity running through it, and have they tried sending anyone down the stairs.
Why not just send Chuck norris?
we want to study the stairs, not obliterate it
Yeah? He’s the best
kindslap
Uhhh, you might wanna check with Death Battle to see the outcome of that.
The staircase with start aging rapidly and collapse
Chuck Norris climbing a staircase to heaven? Chuck is god in human form!
is there an anti-aging scp that could be used half-way up the steps?
+ingmaster5 I don't know one off hand, but Dr. Bright or Alto Clef could probably return from the stairs and give testing data.
What if an organic recording device could be created with a lifespan of substantial length, the ability to move on it's own, and an umbilical cord connected to a monitor that displays what the eye on the other end can see? Presumably, this device would be able to continue recording and displaying visual information for the entire climb of the tower.

I think that while climbing the stairs they re-experience past memories.
Btw they didn't try to climb it while not touching the stairs with speleo stuff?
it's a stairway to heaven, the doorway is the gate, and past it is heaven itself
Ascending on the stairs and in life! Maybe its ironic XD
what if you throw something made of gold or platinum in, those elements cannot rust or tarnish in any way. or what if they send that jellyfish that resets there life cycle up there?
I’ll go up those stairs! And I’ll make it to the top! Wish me luck!!
I like that theory its a good theory and sounds acurit
*acreeit
aging staircase more like you are now inside scp 723-B please proceed with caution
Wait, why not send God up there, he is pretty much immortal, so he can't age.
I believe SCP-026 "Afterschool Retention" is worth your read if you haven't already.
Throw a Twinkie down there.
So if you age when you go up the staircase then what if you go down it.
And this is why there is only one staircase in my house.
Why dont they use a camera drone and fly up the stairs. Its not touching the stairs
Kim Jong Un it's in the stairwell so it would probably still decay
Wow
Im sorry my greatleader for copying you're image
Kim Jong Un
Even tanks have a Service Life, Drones too, the SCP would likely cause the metal or material to weaken, until fatigue sets in, and the drone collapses, and they lose control of it.
Oh and I see you weren't paying attention to the video when the reader literally said that the team lost video footage.
So, if it's a tower, can you not descend from the top downwards? Or break chunks into the walls and move on from there?
And she's buying the stairway...
Do a reading of SCP-973!
Is this where they put uranium?
what is the oposite of this thing? I mean, is there a scp that makes younger? Also what I'm allways wondering... who are these test-persons? Members of scp who are willing to risk their lives? Criminals? Would really like to know
toongrowner1 likely criminals like rapists.

okay, thanx for the info ^^
D class personnel are people on death row, so yes, criminals.

My theory is that the staircase is merely there to keep anyone who is mortal from reaching the door at the top.
it kinda seems like a stair way to the afterlife to me, if a person lives a good life there is no reason for them to worry so they feel compelled to keep moving forward seeing their past loved ones as they ascend, however if they were bad people in their life then they are forced to face every person they ever wronged.... idk thats my thought
I think I may have lived near this scp XD
the subject mentioned a door way do it could be a doorway to heaven meaning the staircase forces the person to age and die because the living can't enter heaven through the door.
I think they should use Gold, coated in something that can take a beating... and advanced age resistant cameras :D But where to find a young person.

No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
The stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip,
Big iron on his hip
It was early in the morning when he rode into the town
He came riding from the south side, slowly lookin' all around
"He's an outlaw loose and runnin'", came a whisper from each lip
"And he's here to do some business with a big iron on his hip,
Big iron on his hip"
In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer, though a youth of twenty four
And the notches on his pistol numbered one and nineteen more,
One and nineteen more
Now the stranger started talkin' made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizonia ranger, wouldn't be too long in town
He was here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead
And he said it didn't matter that he was after Texas Red,
After Texas Red
Wasn't long before this story was relayed to Texas Red
But the outlaw didn't worry, men who tried before were dead
Twenty men had tried to take him, twenty men had made a slip,
Twenty one would be the ranger with the big iron on his hip,
Big iron on his hip
Now the morning passed so quickly and it was time for them to meet
It was twenty past eleven when they rode out in the street
Folks were watchin' from their windows,
Every body held their breath,
They knew this handsome ranger was about to meet his death,
About to meet his death
There was twenty feet between them
When they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the Ranger still talked about today
Texas Red had not cleared leather when a bullet fairly ripped
And the ranger's aim was deadly, with the big iron on his hip,
Big iron on his hip
It was over in a moment and the crowd all gathered 'round
There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground
Oh, he might have went on livin' but he made one fatal slip
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip,
Big iron on his hip
Big iron, big iron,
Oh he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip,
Big iron on his hip

Could it be some kind of messed up trap to keep people away from the door in there could be something worse than the stairs locked up in there.
No because a trap would deter people. this scp attracts them.
"For we convinced physicists, the distinction between past, present, and future is only an illusion, however persistent." -Albert Einstein-
Is it likely that the staircase is alive and sucking the invisible life force out of the ascender... Or is it more likely that each step is a different when in a different place?

I would love to know where abouts this is... No body, No Crime
