I have an MAudio Duo and I agree that the output to the headphones can be a little underwhelming--especially those with high impedance. I have a four-input headphone amplifier that works well, but can feel a bit Rube-Goldbergian, especially if it's eating up too much valuable desk real estate. However, if you're trying to do live, multiplayer recording, you would absolutely need something like that.

Try using the in-ears with jobsite headphones over them. It doubles your ability to filter ambient sources. Its a must for me when recording

I don’t think you can, you need to route it inside your DAW
I'm currently recording drums using 2 combined interfaces, a UMC 404HD and a Teyun Q24. However, even though my computer is very strong (5800x3d) I still have synchronization problems in the DAW. Using Asio, the recorded audio starts out synchronized and eventually in the middle of recording the audio from one of the interfaces starts to lag. Is it possible to use the 4 AIR 192 preamps, and the instrument inputs + line inputs, do I connect the line output of my UMC404? Do you think the AIR instrument inputs amplify microphones well? There is no impedance conflict? If my idea works, it would be possible to record drums on 8 channels using just one USB interface. The UMC would only serve as a preamp for 4 microphones.
You should be able to do that, however you will only have two outputs from the air, so it would be like using a mixer plugged into the UMC404. The guitar inputs on the Air do work fine for microphones as I showed in this video for my toms. You could also sell your current interfaces and look for a Tascam US16x08. I have a couple of these as well and they give you 16 total inputs with 8 xlr and 2 1/4" preamped inputs, plus an additional 6 line inputs on the back. why is everyones live drums so well mixed raw while any midi vst sounds so dull eq wise? I dont get it
Well, these weren't totally raw, I didn't include the mixing portion of the workflow. I have been mixing drums for many years and have my technique pretty dialed in most of the time. It's probably time I make a new tutorial on that as well.
