I think the rather subdued tone of titanium is preferable to the brassy look of stainless.

Can't remember when I bought this watch, but I've had it for at least 20+ years. It keeps superb time and the only bugbear is having to send it away for battery changes, due to its excellent sealing. It's also very tough ; being regularly subjected to the recoil of sniper rifles over many, many years. The glass does get an occasional scratch, but this is quickly polished out with normal wear. What's really great is that its slimline titanium body means it sits tight against my wrist and never catches on anything. I can highly recommend this watch and, indeed, I've just purchased another that I'm keeping again the day when this one eventually wears out. It really is that good.

As an ex-military man and outdoorsman who still hunts, and does some security work, I can totally back up what Rick Bear has said - this is a surprising bang-for-buck proposition and is now built to better specs than many of the watches the Military and Police might issue to you. Extremely well built and ergonomic.

Just change the battery yourself, (and seals are cheap also).
If it ever fails due to the water ingress, you've already saved that money on DIY battery replacements.

An excellent review. I have worn one of these 24/7 for a little over seven years and in my opinion it is the best watch on the planet! If I won the Euro Millions Lottery I would not replace it. It gains six seconds per month which is far more accurate than any supposedly 'high end' automatic watch. After about four years the strap got a bit tatty so I replaced it with a black mesh strap for £6.99 from Amazon which really makes it pop. I wear it for gardening, driving a hiab crane delivering bricks and blocks, swimming and when wearing a dinner suit which looks great with the new strap. I can only think of two negatives (a) the initial strap was a little short but the canvas does stretch over time so perhaps that is a good thing (b) the hour markers are not lumed so you are sometimes left guessing in the middle of the night - but the lume on the hands lasts about six hours if you give it a light blast before going to bed.
My lady friend has described it as a watch which is "suitable for every occaision" and her eyes popped out on stalks when she first saw it on the black mesh strap. The only watch that comes close to this is the other one Ben showed during the review which I bought for a friend.
For all you sick EDC junkies this Lorus watch and an Opinel knife are all you ever really need - I should know. Oh, and maybe a Fisher Bullet pen!

A good friend was having a clear out and gave me one of these with the black dial. It didn't have the original strap so I replaced it with a nato one. I put it in the definitly cool category. It's slimness means it fits inside all but the tightest shirt cuffs. Titanium also rules out my skin reacting to some stainless steels which can be irritating. It is now my 3rd most worn watch out of about 15.

My dad loaned me a Lorus pepsi cola watch in 1992 at the star of my law enforcement career because I was too poor to afford one. Now I about to retire after 26 years in , and I just got the watch from him after he was forced to got in to an elder care facility. Still works. Seen plenty of luxury quartz pieces that don't do that. Got to be ice cold. For what it's worth I feel the same about the Junkers you looked at previously.

I definitely appreciate the videos on modestly priced watches. So much of the watch community is devoted to high price tag items. Personally, I can appreciate why someone would want to spend 500-5000 on a watch, but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. That being said, I'm still planning my watch collection of solid budget watches. Casio illuminator as a diver, this lorus as a nice field option, Orient bambino as a nice dress watch, etc. Keep up the great budget picks! Could be worth a whole series on UA-cam tbh. I'd definitely watch a series on great budget picks in their category.

I have been wearing one of those for years, I bought my boys them for Christmas one year and I bought a spare, just in case. Why do I like them? Easy legible dial, waterproof, very, very light and small, scarcely 38mm diameter and only 8mm thick. If only they made it solar powered it would be perfect.
The Titanium case is quite soft though, mine has lost its matt finish and gained a soft polish all over, I rather like that.
On the down side the nylon strap can feel a little scratchy, mine's on leather now and the date window is too small for my eyesight.

I really like the look of this field watch. I own a couple of Lorus watches and they are very reliable, not surprising really with a Seiko movement. I already have a field watch which is a Seiko solar watch which I now have on a solid link stainless steel mesh bracelet. The canvas strap on this particular watch you have shown is its weak point I think in that it will tend to fray at some stage which is what happened with my Seiko watch. All in all though I would say this is a COOL watch to own and I will consider getting one myself. Thanks for your review I am enjoying your channel.

Lorus is cool. Got just one other Lorus in my collection that's super elegant, the VX50-X282. Been wearing this on/off for about 5 years and it's the slimmest dress watch I own. Works like a dream. No battery change yet and it's just so versatile. It always competes with the Bambino v4 for wrist time. Also... the name Lorus always makes me think of the word "Lore", which is really cool. Great vid!

Titanium Case, Lightweight on the wrist. Great Glass and Clear readable face, luminous hands. The second hand hits the markers everytime. 100 meters water resistant. Crown easy to operate gives a solid click when cycling the date and crown is protected. Accurate Time Keeper and the Specs on this watch are awesome for the money. It's that good and I love it that I have bought 2 more should anything go wrong. I'm going to swap out the strap to a James Bond Nato and it will look fab. The strap it comes with though is good and is reinforced. Everything about the watch is durable. Buy it. Thanks Ben so Glad I found my favourite watch and it never leaves my wrist. So comfy. The classic field watch (WW2) is meant to be plain looking. It's the functionality that more important. It has the classic look that does not attract attention. The issue with bulky watches, is the potential to knock it against something more easily than a watch that's more slimline. You can swap that horrible canvas strap with a rubber/silicone one. Good review from a young bloke. PS You buy a watch to impress yourself and not to impress others.

I have many watches, mostly of them are triple the price, but this one becomes quite quick my favorite after receiving it from Amazon (60eur). It's something about the warm touch feeling of the satin finished titanium case. Now is winter time and I'm never feeling the watch metal coolness, as I'm used on the others. Also the watch is so light,I'm often forgetting I'm wearing it. It's the most comfortable i own and i love how the small elegant case looks on my wrist. The Seiko quartz movement is excellent and the second hand hitting the second markers perfectly right, which is rare to see on many quartz watches. The strap is quality and durable. When is new is somehow hard and not so flexible, but after 2-3 weeks takes the wrist shape beautifully and become very comfortable. If I have some concerns about the watch,it's only one, not critical but just personal aesthetic preference. The mirror colored second hand playing nice with the light on the watch face, but is hard to see it in most viewing angles. Wishing to see the second hand in mate black color, and probably I'm going to paint it on the next battery change case opening.

I used to think they were cheap homages to service-issued watches. Now, they are very often superior to anything you can sign out of military stores. Mine have been to Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. They are about to commence an anti-piracy cruise of a particularly dangerous ocean - will be sure to send you the 'operational field reports' and pictures Ben!

I currently own aroind 20 watches and i only collect watches that i enjoy wearing, that being said the Lorus sport is the only watch that i immediately replaced when i accidentally tore the strap pins from their holes. The damage to the pin holes prevented the retention of new pins. I love that watch and the lume is ridiculously bright, theres no hiding in the dark when you wear that watch.

If you are interested in reviewing another uber budget, small-ish titanium field watch, the Berny T2526M is a banger. Similar to this Lorus (which is to say, a quartz version of the Seiko SNK series, but in titanium with radically better lume. I nabbed the blue dial version with logo one a NATO with titanium hardware. I think it was $55. Also ordered a Swiss railway/Mondaine clomage with full lume dial.

Thank you for this, Ben. However, do consider the Ricardo Swiss Alpine Military watch. Oddly, it's never considered in videos on field watches. (Ricardo have made some expensive vintage watches too). This Ricardo should be a Classic with its superb 12/24 hour luminous cream face and Quartz (Japanese) movement. I prefer it to my Timex Expedition Camper. And, surprisingly, it costs less than £30. Excellent value for a wonderful watch.

You or anybody looking at this watch should look at the Alba APBT209 and APBT211. Alba is another Seiko brand, also. They're Ti, too. But you get a domed Hardlex crystal and 200m of water resistance.

I think I've solved the mystery of the little holes round the edge: there is lume on the hands but not anywhere else, so my bet is that Lorus intended to but abandoned the idea of putting lume in them.
I have put lume in the little holes on my one ...just to give them something to do :-)

I have the Lorus Sports and I love it. Not Titanium but still one of my lightest watches and it has day/date and Lumibrite which I cannot live without. Wish it had a Titanium case too. Can't justfiy buying both.

I've had the other version (the stainless steel one) on my watch list for a while now, I have to say both of these watches look great and present great value for money. The stainless steel one also has day complication in addition to the date, and the entire dial is lumed with Lumibright. Now I don't know which one to choose. I love field watches and that military esthetics and that the titanium one looks sharp. That strap has to go, though.
This one is definitely a cool watch.
    Great review Ben.

I have the stainless steel version and you cant go wrong with it. Very accurate movement and overall a very durable watch and though it is stainless steel it's still very light on the wrist. Also the lumibrite dial lasts me throughout the whole night and i've had this for at least 3 years.

I have the excellent Lumibrite stainless steel version, which I think has a slight lead on it for military and security applications. Used them at sea, on Maritime security, all over Afghanistan and the MENA region. Superbly well made, surprisingly good looking and battlefield proven. The lume on the Lumibrite version is excellent.

Still available and today ( 14 Nov 2020 ) I have bought one from The Watch Shop at £37.49 . This is third one I’ve bought over last 15 + years, cheaper than buying a new battery & strap. Though I have and they all work perfectly. The glass does scratch but they
get used weekends and exposed to risks of impact etc. Recommend.

Hey, I got mine from the same site about 6 months ago, does the titanium case scratch or is it durable? Mine scratches from the lightest contact, also its very prone to temperature changes. Is it somehow possible that I got the fake model or am I just unlucky?
The scratch (matt finish became shiny in the place of damage, so the difference is easily visible) was made from accidentally hitting it with aux cord of my headphones when I was rapidly rolling them up. This is ridiculous and I so my experience is totally different than yours, was it the first time you bought it from this site? Thanks for your reply in advance.
