This is one of the most profound statements I have ever heard. From a comedian, no less. In one of my last classes in seminary, the professor commented that, now that we were about to graduate, one thing that we should have learned in those three years is that we hardly know anything, especially about God, and by the end of our ministry, we will realize we know even less. Some 40 years on, when people ask me about God, I reply that God is mysterious, and all we really know is that (S)He is full of grace, and we can only hope to live in that. I did not expect this from Mr. Bean, but I get the sense that he knew whereof he spoke.
@ David Irving: Hi, David. Forgive me for saying so… but it’s safe to say that JESUS knows a lot more about God than we do, being Divine Himself & “God the Son” in the Holy Trinity. Therefore, since HE HIMSELF always referred to God & also addressed HIM as “FATHER”, that’s certainly good enough for us… (Our FATHER who art in Heaven…?) & why the use of the term “(S)He” when referring to Him - contrary to anything that one finds in God’s Holy Bible - is a modern affectation that should be vigorously discouraged at the very least…..
It seems more profound than it is when taken out of context. This is from the 2005 film "Keeping Mum". When he says "A little of God's grace", he pauses because at that moment he realizes that a lot of his family's problems have been solved by their new, elderly housekeeper Grace. And that her way of solving problems is very much not Christian.
wow, i needed that. I just recently in a state where questioning of what is happening to my life lately. "my ways are not your ways", that hit me so hard, everything is happening for a reason. instead of questioning his ways, i should just be thankful for the benefits he's given me.
Wow! Absolutely amazing speech! I’m overwhelmed with Gods amazing grace after listing to The one and only Rowan! Amazing actor! Should I dare say “The best”😍
If God didn't want us to question him, he wouldn't have given us a questioning mind. We have every right to question God since we are questioning about things that affect us. Well, that's too bad, God.
And thus in the bible we have the book of Job. It really tells us what it means ''my ways are not your ways''. When we start questioning god it comes to the selfish aspect, but god's actions will affect everyone. Also God said he will grant any wish to Solomon, any wish he desire... And what Solomon asked made god give him even more. God want's us to ask questions, but we should not question his actions with selfish mind.
@@suomipoika1796 Will it be considered ''selfish'' if a child asks not to be raped? Or if another asks to be cured of cancer? Will your God, who is so concerned about the welfare of a king, have the time and inclination to listen to a starving child in Syria?
@@JD-ro7xe My father is dying on small cell lung cancer as we speak, so i would say it's not selfish... What i meant by selfish was the things we ask from god. Make me rich, make me famous, make my life better, i don't want any pain. The thing is that our point in life is not to be rich, not to be famous, have a easy life... Our meaning is to help one another, we are not here to be served, we are here to serve. That child would not be raped if the person doing that would not be selfish. Each action we do will affect others, our selfish actions will hurt others. Every bad thing happening in this world starts from selfish action. When you serve yourself you are not making the world better place. So a child asking for help or a dying person asking for healing it's not selfish.
@@suomipoika1796 Sorry to hear about your father. I have no words to comfort you. With all the pain and suffering in the world, it is difficult to believe there is a God. Wishing for wealth and enjoyment can't be considered selfish. What's wrong with wealth? It's the religions that glorify poverty. All creatures are made selfish. It's the basic rule for survival. Only animals that live in groups help each other. But that also is to ensure their own survival . God read nature, has made us so.

Yes, Keeping Mum is an excellent movie, this scene can only be understood in the movie's context ("Grace" is the name of one of the characters in the movie), and the character Rowan plays is not expressing Rowan's beliefs, he's expressing the fictional character's beliefs.
Rowan Atkinson is a generational talent. It is interesting to me that the same time and place produced Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Eric Idle, Michael Palin Terry Chapman and many more. Must have been something in the air.
I have such respect for Rowan Atkinson. To my knowledge, he is not a man of faith yet in this clip he is able to express the joy and wonder of those of us who do. To not agree with something yet be able to appreciate it with such depth demonstrates not only great acting but great humanity

@@the5thmusketeer215 on the contrary, there’s a recently discovered early manuscript wherein the Lord’s Prayer begins with “What pronouns this time?”
@@the5thmusketeer215 Totally agree.
i never know his voice is this sentimental, amazing... clap clap
This is so inspirational and great. Glad to see how well Rowan Atkinson can perform serious roles.
Mr.Atkinson my son is a big fan of urs.Tq for the laughter u give.Goos message.
I think Rowan Atkinson did a great job with this piece.
wow, i needed that.
Cod Infinite Warfare's mysterious ways.
lmao
Fuck off lmao
Beautiful.
That man, is unique and ONE of a kind. There are many very good actors. But Rowan is the one and only!
This is one Oscar quality performance.
Lol. Classic case of an egostical atheist.
"I am mysterious, folks. Live with it" #that line cracks me every time. Mr Atkinson is really a brilliant actor.
God... Doesn't want us to ask many questions... That line kind of hit me.
Why do you answer a question... With another question..
I guess Cod will have their separate convention . Lol XD
This made me think though... Live with it.... Live with it..
Oscar performance ! Privileged to be watching this .
Great acting
This is from the movie Keeping Mum, which was actually a very, very entertaining movie. o3o
thank you captn *flies away*
WHERE IS THE POTATOES AND THE BANANAS
@lyunseong95 in 9gag
Yes, Keeping Mum is an excellent movie, this scene can only be understood in the movie's context ("Grace" is the name of one of the characters in the movie), and the character Rowan plays is not expressing Rowan's beliefs, he's expressing the fictional character's beliefs.
I've heard it was a super flop.
Rowan Atkinson is a generational talent. It is interesting to me that the same time and place produced Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Eric Idle, Michael Palin Terry Chapman and many more. Must have been something in the air.
imagine 2 vicars talking.
One of them asks a question and they are stuck in an infinite loop
Nice one mate!!
hahahaha
Love this man, who stands up for freedom and truth, more power to ya Rowan!
Oh Lord Rowan Atkinson is TRULY TRULY blessed and gifted
Sometimes... All it takes is grace... goosebumps 🧡🧡🧡
I watched this movie with my Gran and we both agreed it was a really good movie.
Mr Atkinson is a great actor imo
Nobody does a character better than Mr. Bean. He's a genius in everything. Big fan since childhood!
Comedy... that holds water. Brilliant! ☺️
I have such respect for Rowan Atkinson. To my knowledge, he is not a man of faith yet in this clip he is able to express the joy and wonder of those of us who do. To not agree with something yet be able to appreciate it with such depth demonstrates not only great acting but great humanity
How did he not get pulled into Tolkien movies I’ll never know
Because Mr Bean was not part of the Fellowship, nor one of the dwarfs questing to the lonely mountain.
Wrong! I do believe Mr Bean played Boromir.
A suitable Tom Bombabil
@@Julebstube a certain mr bean also got his head chopped off in GoT!
Yeah, they would have saved a fortune on the special effects for Gollum
This is made even better when you remember it’s from a black comedy about his mother in law being a serial killer.
Title pls
@@fabsyl5241 Read the description.
And even better when that Serial killer is sweet innocent Maggie Smith
@@fabsyl5241 Keeping Mum
And when mother in law passes the tradition on to the daughter and grand daughter. Got to wonder how soon the pond will fill up.
This is wonderful, and I'm not even Christian. Rowan is surely man of skills.
Great actor. I can see him in more serious roles. Great job
God Mysterious Way indeed i have so many problems to deal with and this came in, and with one of my favorite actor/comedian.
Thank You Lord, you're a Mysterious Folks
I love this, made my day and made my faith grow stronger...don't question him too much
He was making fun of religion because god's don't exist 🙄
@Alexandros No. Science is empirical. Religion is faith. Science and religion are philosophically opposite.
"To criticize a person for their race is manifestly irrational and ridiculous, but to criticize their religion, that is a right. That is a freedom. The freedom to criticize ideas, any ideas - even if they are sincerely held beliefs - is one of the fundamental freedoms of society. A law which attempts to say you can criticize and ridicule ideas as long as they are not religious ideas is a very peculiar law indeed."
may be its just the thought..
The character "Grace" is phenomenal in this movie, accidentally to which she was referred in this convention by vicar. The music is also very catchy and compliments the situations in the movie. It's a must watch movie though it is referred as a dark comedy. You will fell in love with all the characters especially Grace...
What movie is this

Thanks @mohit gupta
This was actually really good!
(I'm not surprised tbh, it's Rowan Atkinson)
Very disarming, captivating performance and message. Rowan Atkinson is a brilliant actor.
"I'm mysterious folks, live with it"
thats why he is called the Great Mystery after all.:)
" Our Lord doesn't want us to question too much" , which implies that actual faith always seeks a degree of understanding from reason. In fact the Catechism of the Catholic Church, states that, starting with the creation man can unfailingly recognise the Creator ,albeit not fully nor exhaustively .
" I believe in order to understand and I understand to better believe"
- St. Augustine
Good actors: are those who can make you laugh or mourn...
and... god, i'm crying with this video. A little sad but I can see a lot of talent in this actor
I am grateful ...find it when it's really badly needed
