I remember the first time I heard The Temptations. It was 1965 and I was 17 years old. I lived in Johnstown PA, a little factory town 65 miles east of Pittsburg. To help me sleep I used to listen to a cheap, terrible sounding transistor radio and late at night that radio could sometimes pick up stations from far away. I don't know if the station I was listening to that night was from Pittsburg, or Detroit, but a song came on that gave me chills, and started my lifelong love of a very special singing group. Over the static filled airwaves I could hear a group singing in beautiful harmony what I thought was "Magic, magic, talking about magic". Needless to say I would soon learn that what they were actually singing was "My girl, my girl, talking about my girl".
What a nice story. Thanks for sharing it. My dad passed a few years back. I recall my dad telling me that the temptations couldn’t be touched. That they were baddddd. Music had feeling back then. I’m just grateful my father and grandmother passed it down to me. Every other weekend we’d go to grandmas. She’d play all the 60’s music. But during Christmas the temptation album stayed on repeat.
Fantastic first chapter, I'm 50 living in London, England and love Motown with all my heart, it touches me in a way no other genre of music has, and all these years later I'm still trying to put my finger on the exact reason why I love it so much, the only reason I could come up with was....well it's Motown, Thank you all, each and every single person who worked, and continues to work on this beautiful music. Peace and Love xx ❤️🙏❤️
Idk about fame ruining him but there’s no “let” in drug addiction. That’s why we call it hooked. Ever see a fish on a hook⁉️ Addiction destroys. Fame won’t stop it. Feeds it if anything. It kills. He wasn’t the first, he made the biggest smash 💥 but he won’t be the last. PERIOT.

Otis and Smokey, thank you for sharing>3. I LOVE Motown interviews, testimonies, documentaries, movies, and the TIMELESS music goes without saying. I will never tire of watching. I look forwared to seeing more. You are both absolutey right, I toally agree, with all due respect to the other labels, they know as well, Motown has a family sound/an amazing winning unduplicated, unmatched formula/magic that to this day no other has been able to measure. It says a lot decades later, the truth speaks for itself. Looking at most, if not all of today's amazing talents as well as all of the Legends throughout the decades -present, great example Beyonce', were greatly influenced by Motown. An AD popped up on Facebook of the Aint Too Proud to Beg Broadway tour, and here I am looking up footage of the show. lol. But I came across this video. I was born in the 90's, but grew up listening to The Temptations because of my dad and older cousins. I absolutely love Motown! This video footage is such a treasure! It just shows how successful Motown has become because of each person and the culture that they had back then. They were all trying to make it, but not compromising integrity. What a beauty.
Just my imagination and Smokey’s Ooh baby baby are on my daily play list when i’m at work in the restaurant. These are the vitamines i need to keep on going.
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART OTIS WILLIAMS FOR THE AWESOME MUSIC YOU AND ALL THE TEMPS BROUGHT TO US. I know the words to every Temptation Song. I’m 65 now so that’s a miracle! LOL We LOVE YOU and ALWAYS WILL! I was pretty young when you guys started recording. I could not understand the pathetic racism that you faced. I was ashamed, and embarrassed by those horrible white people. They should be roasted by now! Thank You again for all the memories that you gave me with your AMAZING MUSIC! There will never be another group like the Temptations, NEVER. I want all your songs played at my funeral, and for people to get up and dance! LOVE YOU OTIS!!
Thanks Otis Smokey and Barry for Motown your hits was the Greatest Ever. Everything did at Motown was Soul Stirring songs. Songs that made you feel Good. The Temptations Forever

We need chapter 2 Otis!!
That's awesome I love to see this as the world change for the worst that we have something to look back on and remember when friendships loyalty honor values and above all talent singing dancing writing and above all unbelievable music you don't hear music today with instruments horns drums a time when people dressed nice went out and enjoyed themselves I'm sorry I ramble on . It was just a beautiful time in life I guess we will have to deal with the nonsense the world had to offer today but at least we have this to look back on and appreciate these documentary's wow times have changed stay safe everyone happy new year God bless

Wow this was very good ! I just wish it was longer ! (You left me craving more ! ) And i love the way Otis Williams puts his outfits together ! Very cool ! Thank you for this !
I'm about to 39 in April and I love The Temptations!!!!!!
Raise a family, oh, yeah, with 2 children, maybe 3,maybe 4.......i.🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🦊

Still a Motown devotee since the Miracles cut "Way Over There" in '59. Sending love to all but especially Berry Gordy. It all started under his leadership.
