My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!

I started wearing low ponytails because I saw the American Girl doll movie for Felicity when I was 9.
When she does it, it looks so easy and cute. When I am doing it it looks like a freaking bird nest

I need to practice my braiding but I can totally do the second one. It might be my go-to style. Add some fancy bobby pin to the bun and it's elevated for business casual work day. I don't know why I didn't think of it! The third one has been my do for a while and I needed a change. Thank you for sharing these!

Dutch braid a normal braid but in reverse.... instead of putting your hair over each other you braid it under .

EMA S the joke was because she is Dutch and, therefore, all of her braids are Dutch.
There are several different kinds of braids. She’s specifying so that you know which kind she’s doing. There’s French, lace, Dutch, waterfall, rope, etc.

Hair hack: put your hair in bun/ponytail then pull out hair around the hairline and tie it back separately. stops me from getting headaches from wearing hair up too much or too tight because the full weight of your hair isnt pulling your forehead.

My hair is so short and smooth and slippery it takes a butterfly flapping its wing in California to make all those strands you pulled out for a casual look come loose spontaneously. I've started doing a hairstyle similar to the first one this week and I usually end up with every bobby pin I own somewhere in my hair, and it still escapes!
Try spraying your hair with texture spray or dry shampoo before the styles! It helps to give it a more rough texture so pins can stay in place :)
Maybe spraying hair spray onto the bobby pins before putting them in your hair could help too :)

Little tiny black rubber bands will come out of your hair without hair loss if you oil them!!! A drop of hair oil will lubricate the rubber enough that it won't snag and rip hair out! Cheers!

Lucy! I have very long hair, that is semi-coarse, with some wave. In winter, here in PA, if I'm wearing a collared shirt or a coat, my hair always gets snarled at the nape of the neck. Is there any way to minimize this? I don't always want to wear my hair up when I wear collars! Ideas?

I have that length too and pretty thick, easy to do these with a little adaptation/extra bobby pins and hairbands lol! although I have very little hair skills so I rely on ideas like these but cant always get them too look good.

I used to take ballet. So for me, I have this image that buns and braids around the head are for all ages because my teachers would wear them.
No ones stopping you from wearing these pretty hairstyles! And hey, I always think there's no young nor old hairstyles, because if you are wearing it then it is for your age!! Seriously, I've seen older women with pink, blue, purple hair in two space buns and they look fun!
