Do you own the woods and get to say which trees stay? Or is the ownership someone else and you don’t get a say? It’s good to see mixed woodland. The MS271 seems like a good saw. I don’t personally know anyone who has one though. Over here there’s a mix of small pruning saws like the MS211 and old 028s, lots of ground 😊saws like 261s with a few 391 and 460s. Then a jump to 660/661s and 500s. With Husky’s being mainly 353s, 450s, 550/560s. Then jumping to 572/576; with the ever reliable 346s, 390s & 395s.
Thanks for the comment! We own the property where the trees are being harvested. The forester first marks the trees he thinks should be harvested, we get to refuse harvest of any tree he marks (we didn't). This was a selective harvest to promote the health of the forest overall. I've had the MS271 for over five years and have been very happy with it. In that time I've had to replace the bar once (I pinched the original bar between two logs) and I replaced the oil pump last year. Otherwise, with stabilized ethanol-free gasoline, it has started every time I needed it.
