Golden rod here in Lunenburg MA is starting too. As is the Japanese knotweed. Fingers crossed. But I’m pulling the supers in mid September ish regardless so it’s go time!

It was a slow week for nectar and not a lot of dark nectar so I am hoping we do get a fall flow. I hope your girls pack it in for you.

Glad your singles are doing great. Do you typically get a dark honey in the fall? My spring is yellow to white and anything later than July is really dark and strong tasting.

Yes my fall honey is dark and bold tasting. I just hope we get a fall flow.

So U mentioned formic pro and I was going to use that as well in Sept when temps get lower ...my 2 hives are both 3 deep boxes so would I put the formic pro pads on the most bottom deep? In the video it just demonstrates application with 2 deeps. Do u know? Thinking I’ll just put the strips in most deep 📦 box🐝

Depending on where the majority of the brood is would be where I put the pads. If the top deep is nectar then between the bottom two.

I support your decision to kill any hive beetle that dare to invade your girls' home. would they breeding direction be for bigger stronger stingers so the girls can penetrate the hive beetle's shell? Seems like a double edged sword.

its much easier to just maintain strong hives that just keep the beetles out in the first place.
