Skillet’s John Cooper ‪@CooperStuff‬ has gone on the offense, exposing moral decline and deviation from core Biblical principles in CCM, and even calling out Christian artists by name who he feels are deserving of a public rebuke. We’re weighing in :)

Since you folks are being sponsored by an addiction recovery apparatus, it'd be great to see you two interview or discuss addiction issues, perhaps with ex-addicts.
    Good luck, and good work.

The Bible addresses the matter of profanity directly in Ephesians 5:4. "Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving." (NIV)

John cooper is proof Christians should NOT judge by appearance. My little brother told me about Skillet back in the day I thought they were a little out there! But Cooper is one of the boldest Christians out there. It's the heart that counts, not what people look like in their early days on the outside!

In my opinion, THIS is your lane - i.e. responding to this sort of stuff and other cultural moments. That’s how I got into P&M and your videos have been both entertaining and encouraging. I was therefore a little disappointed when you announced a major focus on relationship stuff recently, as I think your voice on cultural issues is so valuable in helping guide fellow Christians through how we should feel / respond to them. I often wish I had your boldness. But, I respect you no doubt had your reasons at the time.
I know recently you said your views were down a little with the relationship stuff (which didn’t completely shock me) but I really hope they’re on the up again with content like this and others I’ve noticed you’ve been posting again more recently. God bless! Ewan (the one you can’t pronounce 😂) from Scotland.

Completely agree. I stumbled upon your channel about a year ago as a middle aged mom and loved the content and shared much of it with my young teen daughter. I was really upset when you made the switch to relationship stuff and honestly I basically stopped watching. Not just because it didn’t apply to me, but because I so appreciated the discernment y’all have and felt you were both much needed youthful voices in this topsy turvy world. It wasn’t just me, a “legalistic” mom telling my daughter these things, but here was this adorable young couple loving the Lord and full of wisdom on so many issues. So I for one concur with @ueemc. This is your lane.

My husband was in a Christian rock band and actually toured with John Cooper. He is definitely a Christian who walks the walk. My husband told me the label actually told them that they had to add Jesus’ name more to their songs because it would “sell” better. Unfortunately moral decay creeps into so many aspects of what is for Christ. We must be on guard as Christians and ready for discernment

  • @somethinggood9267

I think whether or not you curse is a sign of spiritual maturity and not spiritual purity. Unfortunately people often confuse these things. I remember when I was on fire for the Lord when I first got off of drugs and alcohol and I did a devotional for a small group of people. I accidentally said the F word while I was speaking , of course I didn't mean to. But the looks on some people's faces were horrendous. They had the look on their face that they immediately disregarded anything else I had said, no matter if it was good. I fear that a lot of people in the church are this way, they can't see past this and that is falling off of people and so they just label people as unholy. A lot of the times people might have bad habits when they first come to Christ and God will deal with them on those things and of course we can talk to them about those things too. But just say that someone can't be a good Christian and occasionally use a curse word is simply ridiculous

I wonder if y’all have considered that gender roles (hyper masculine vs hyper feminine) are of the world? I believe personally that society wants men and women separated in a toxic way, when really our souls are the important part. Not the clothes we wear or makeup we put on. Just a thought!

I don't really like the idea of having swearing-in Christian music that I've been musing on this issue of why cursing is so bad when you're a Christian? What spiritual harm does it do? In my opinion, this is more of a wisdom issue. I don't want to stumble my brother by cussing up a storm but I also don't think much harm can be done by saying a simple s word once in a while if u stub your toe. I asked for forgiveness every time I cuss but I also never feel really convicted that it's something God cares about a lot

personally, Judah’s music really speaks to me and makes me feel God. The song that y’all were referring to is very relatable to me. I understand that the song may not be for everyone but it really speaks to me. I do agree that the “f bomb” didn’t have to be in the song and he totally could have just made the family version be the song. He did choose to make the family version tho for people who don’t like cussing and I think that was a great idea because it is a very powerful song and a lot of people need to hear it. Also, I don’t think Judah wants his music to be under the umbrella of christian music. It’s simply just music made by a christian. He started out with his side project independently and eventually Capitol records started promoting it. But he’s still an independent artist. People are just choosing to promote him as a christian artist or worship artist.

i just went to the drag queen dude’s instagram and bro is so arrogant. his whole page is basically just him bragging about being #1 in the Christian music charts or getting offended when christians call him out on his nonsense. He even had a post about bringing a bunch of queer people to crash the dove awards this year. It seems like his mission is to destroy christianity and make it gay. And I don’t think he even listens to christian music. He definitely doesn’t follow any of the most influential christian artists. But anyway I think he just wants to be loved and accepted but he needs to realize the Christian community isn’t the place to go for that unless he repents and leaves his life of sin behind.
