    I got into Lego trains recently, and I am super disappointed that I missed out on this set. The blue and gray colors are so attractive to me. It was the orange, black, and white coloration of the Horizon Express that got me into the train theme.

    The first one is a shunt truck .
    We use one of these at the factory I work at. And they can be licenced for the road so we can shunt tailers to other nearby yards, however they are definatly not meant for long distance hauling.

    Such a classic Diesel-Electric Locomotive design from Lego. I'm glad you kept this in your layout. Growing up as a kid, I always wanted this, but I wanted the BNSF Locomotive even more along with the TTX Inter-modal cars.

    When I was little I hated having stickers over multiple pieces. I eventually just started to carefully take an exacto knife to the gaps and smooth the sticker over the edges. That way the sticker isn't at risk. It does look a little more segmented, but that's true to the lego aesthetic anyways. Just a thought.

    The original Power Functions parts that were suggested for this set weren't RC. They were controlled by a small dial that was on top of the battery box. I am not sure if they suggested a receiver. However I used the same setup you used with the RC functions, and it works perfectly.

    • @JANGBRiCKS
      @JANGBRiCKS  8 років тому

      That's odd. They had the RC stuff available since 2008 and this was a 2011 set. My instructions are dated 2011 and show the RC controller (plus the rechargeable battery, which has a speed control dial). Does yours not have a stand-in for the IR receiver in the main build on step 34?

    Great review Jang. Oct 7, 2019 and I'm just putting the finishing touches on this set I've had since an Amazon purchase in 2013. It is a fun build but unfortunately the locomotive matches NONE of the three locomotives that wore this promotional livery. The closest it comes to in styling is the Norfolk Southern SD40-2 that wore a Maersk livery very similar to this for a number of years. But even that is a six-axle locomotive versus the four-axle EMD "GP" series narrow-cab locomotive this most closely resembles. You stated in your review it does a very good job of representing a locomotive without getting into specifics...I have to agree with you. Well done Lego and you for your review.

    02:55 - Some ports around the world still have license plates on their container trucks, for tracking and accountability purposes within the port. Yard workers would need to sign in and out on record books whenever they pick up or drop off their trucks at their respective holding bay. Just FYI. Good job with the video though!

    i'm not even a train fan, i have no interest at all in adding a train to my collection now, nor would i want a train in a City if i created one, but i love this set & it's definitely an exception to that rule. If it was still in retail stores now it would definitely be jumping between my 'Definitely Maybe' & 'Must Have' list.

    I think these kind of trucks are road legal in many countries and many of the ones I have seen have license plates as they might need to use public roads. Sometimes they have special number plates. So that little detail is not wrong to have.

    The MAERSK containers are based by real containers in the USA it's those kind of replica of a real container and there are came to the MAERSK train that you got today but the truck and train they are probably not a replica of a real transportation that has MAERSK on it but they are based by real transportation that had existed in real life probably.
