Reviewing Yeezus, but I explain Why It's the Most Overrated Kanye Album
Вставка

- In this video I talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly with Yeezus. This is the Kanye record I am most conflicted with to this day, mostly because it boggles my mind how insanely admired it is. I do like it though.
Favorite songs: Black Skinhead, New Slaves, Hold My Liquor, Bound 2
Least favorite: Send It Up, though I'm In It and I Am A God probably got the most criticism.
What do you think of this record? Let's talk about it in the comments!
Thanks so much for watching. Every subscriber/viewer means a lot to me, and I appreciate every like and comment. Let me know what you think about the video or the album and I'd love to have a discussion in the comments! Music is meant to be discussed to assimilate ideas and to grow as people.

I am a Christian and student and I made this channel when I was in high school. I started this channel because I love talking about music (specifically hip hop) and given that the genre seems to be going downhill, I want to be part of the community that preserves the expectation of great music and dissecting what makes a beautiful record. Dealing with a lack of friends to discuss these matters with, I hoped to start my own community that loves music just as I do, as well as to provide a unique perspective as a follower of Christ that also appreciates this community. I appreciate everyone who watches and I am truly happy to see anybody comment their thoughts on a project I talk about.
Put "HURRY UP WITH MY DAMN CROISSANT!" as your comment if you read the description!
As always, thank you very much for watching and taking time out of your day to discuss music with me, God bless. Isaiah 55:8-12
I feel like alot of people missed the point of this album, are the lyrics harsh and egotistical at times?, yes but that’s the point. This album wouldn’t work if Ye was giving full on rhyme schemes, like imagine that on On Sight, it would’ve not fit. It’s supposed to give a honest depiction of Ye’s frustrations with his sex life, fame, corporations, etc. If you have ever felt like you wanted to break down and snap out of anger, that’s basically what this album portrays and does well. The emotion is the backbone of this album. You’re not gonna get a more honest depiction of Kanye from an album anymore than this.
preach people these days are so used to listening to 808s and hi-hats in mainstream rap and hate anything that drives away from that formulaic beat. Same thing goes for old heads that won’t listen to anything if it doesn’t sound like it came from pre-2000s.
@@yungmoneyak2004 Prime example of someone who sees the title, doesn't watch the video, and assumes what I say lol
@@JacksonsMusicPalate my bad, my comment wasn’t in response to your vid or title, I was just giving my thoughts of what I know about the backlash for this album in general.
@@JacksonsMusicPalate it's overrated and I'm not a hater. I love Kanye music.
@@JacksonsMusicPalatewell clearly he assumed right
I think you’re taking the lyrics too literally, it’s emotions behind the lyrics what actually matter. But I still support your channel so hope you do well.
Thanks for your support even if you disagree!
Have you ever listened to the dissect podcast season on this album? From watching your videos it seems like something you would enjoy and I think you will appreciate this album a lot more. There is actually a linear narrative to this album and it’s really a cathartic and interesting dive into.
That Crossiant line and many Other are apart of the reason I love Kayne's music its not afarid to show who he is and be a little silly
My interptation of the Record, A man Who is upset with the system and others, societies, useing his aggressive, egotisism and abbrassive to mask his pain but ultimelty understands The emptyiness of his life and finds fullness through a lover but thats just me
Kanye West is compared to no one. Kanye has the vocal skills, writing, producing dancing skills, style, showmanship, personality, humanitarian efforts, almost 25 years of experience, mentored by Rocafella's greatest and beyond, arguably the most creative genius, known on the 4 corners of the earth (people in the bush know Kanye).Nobody knows Taylor Swift. I'm really not trying to be mean. There just is no comparison. None. Not even close. The music sounds like Depeche Mode Violator with different lyrics. That's a compliment. The Violator was Depeche Mode best album ever.
James's son would disapprove, please change your pro pic
My favorite comment
Im in it has layers. The interlude before the last verse is sort of a moment of realisation for kanye but it is then interrupted by his lust coming back. And the song feels like it doesnt have a resolution because its too early in the album to have a resolution. Also, the song is not about his addiction, its about him coping with loneliness by surronding himself with women. In a way, blood on the leaves is where kanye starts to grow, saying "these bitches surrounding me, all want something out me" and in guilt trip, he finally stops saying in the first line "i need to call it off". Kanye after guilt trip was sober from his former life until send it up. His old ways come back, signified through "yeezus just rose again" but he still has the little voice in his head from guilt trip telling him "reliving the past? Your loss!". He returns to the club once again but then meets the girl he talks about in bound 2. We know this because the song starts with "what are you doing in the club on a thursday? She said she only here for a girl birthday" so everything from im in it to bound 2 is an almost perfect story. The whole album is a story
I love your clips man, i cant wait to see you get the recognition you deserve
Thank you so much for your support!
I thought people hated this album I thought no one liked it and that is was underrated
same
Sorry mate I Cant Agree with your state ment This album is one of my favorites of all time its raw, aggressive, abrassive, punk, energetic, egotistic, silly, polticional and has emtional songs like Hold My Liquir and its just pumps me up
Same
Honestly, I love me some Yeezus, but I dunno why people feel it’s his best album, it’s really a great record but it’s not near his best.
It’s very subjective, I find the best part about this album is how emotionally dark and intense it is. The story is within the tracks themselves and shows a concise story.
Yeezus is his most experimental album along with 808s and experimental Listeners love it. It’s his most energetic album imo with Black Skinhead, On Sight, I Am A God, etc. Like playing On Sight at the gym hits different ngl.
@@tomv2063 real
It’s just so intense, feels like a rollercoaster
But then again Yeezus has influcned me Artistic bit at that Same Time so im a bit biased
HURRY UP WITH MY DAMN CROISSANT
My brotha read the description!!
Chatotic but thats what makes me love it
Not a bad video but i still guessing you dont like 808s and Heartbreaks as much as everyone
This is the most complimentary dissection of a piece of music to someone who doesn’t like it. Good job honestly. Most people will just straight up diss Ye on their dislike. You give respect with opinion. Much appreciated.
Love Yeezus but good video 👍👍
You said that Kanye made himself unlikable on purpose on this album and then literally a minute later was confused why I am a god was the way it was
Y’all don’t really understand how this album shifted HipHop, without this there wouldn’t be no Travis & no songs such as Mr Morale from Kdot
And without Death Grips this wouldn't happen. And without the first caveman to grunt, mc ride wouldn't exist.
I know giving flowers is a crucial part in black culture but it's influence kinda doesn't make yeezus any less terrible to me personally
idk I think yeezus wasn’t an absolutely serious sounding album for people. It’s kinda like a basqiuat painting sometimes. Yeezus is a character which he plays on the album btw
L
I personally am a fan of this album… and find it to be my fav Kanye album… if you ye you are urself
it should be in everyone's kanye top 2
Another person missing the point of the album? Who knew!
What's the point?
@@hoau1406 if you're interested just do a basic research online, it takes 10 minutes, if you don’t then don’t do anything. I'm not here to educate anyone on music
@@hoau1406 to put it simply:
Kanye is a braggadocios asshole with a god complex (illustrated by the titular Yeezus in the first 4 songs) that pushes people away and ruins his relationships (Hold my liquor, I'm in it and Blood on the leaves) however at his lowest and most deranged point (Guilt trip and send it up) he seemingly finds the right person who he feels will love him unconditionally despite his short comings, which undoes a lot of the Yeezus stuff (Bound 2)
the album is more about a narrative, looking at the tracks at face value, almost every kanye song strips them of any meaning. i love your videos but i think you didn’t try for this one
I think this is his best but I understand where you are coming from
Bro you proved that line about religious people in black-skin head right
If i had Say what his most Overated album i gotta With Donda Good album, yes bloted ,mostly carried by the fetaures and lacking that signature Kayne humor yep, yep and Yep
Yeah Donda just needed to be a bit trimmed down and it’s fine
hurry up on my damn croissant
Welp unfortunately I have to unsubscribe now. Thanks for all the great videos.
Jk
I can respect your opinion but calling send it up trash made your entire video invalid
👊 p͎r͎o͎m͎o͎s͎m͎
Im sorry, but you are just not smart enough to get it. Its not about Kanye, its a character called yeezus. Yeezus is his critique of celebrity, corprate culture and quest for meaning.
You are aware that the lyrics are mainly jokes right
what?
Yeah not a fan of this album
Why not?, I think it’s a great album. It’s his most creative work besides 808s and heartbreak.
Great use of samples, energetic beats, harsh yet effective lyrics to set the tone, and a short tracklist with no skits in between (not that skits are entirely bad). Good enough for me
@@diamondcutter4044 I think for me it's the sound. Not a fan of that sound. I think the lyrics are pretty good though. I respect that he experiments a lot but this just isn't as aesthetically pleasing to me. But I can see how others can like it
@@mickey10jb80 I can understand that, it was off putting to me at first but I grew into it and now it’s one of my favs. Also a a great album to workout to imo lol.
@@diamondcutter4044 I could see that. Makes sense that it's more of a grower
your last video before this upload is literally a hob dissection which you should know hob is a story of the weekends drug addiction and hedonism portrayed in a disgusting way
yeezus is quite similar yet you don’t like the vulgarity? I like your videos but praising an art piece for a certain thing then criticizing another for the same thing is a little weird
I think u too good 4 this album it represent raw toxic emotion, lust and more at which if he must give it point he must be vocal in a villain way
u missed the point 😹😹
which is...?
Bro the entire point of on sight is that it’s fucking annoying that’s the point did you hear the first second of the song, it’s supposed to represent how racists view rap and then the amazing point in the middle represent how rap actually is
what???
@@quirked. he literally said it in an interview remember this was him proving to the fashion world that he can do whatever he wants do he had to prove that rap could be amazing and not just a stereotype like how people used to only see it as
word.
It's the whole thing with Yeezus. It's all about the emotion behind the lyrics. because the lyrics themselves are wack. The sound of Death Grips but not on steroids is the definition of calm during the storm.
You took everything I had to say about BOTL out of my mouth. The soul crushing experience rusts away with every play.
The goofier parts might not be for everybody but it always makes me chuckle and everyt else makes me want to throw a dinosaur out of the window.
Also there's the simpleton linear narrative if anyone actually cares about it.
respectfully, i love your vids but this did not take off like your others cuz it’s the WRONG opinion
How is mic so atrociously awful. Like it’s hard to watch this video bruh 😭
Aye, your still cool but your wrong bud.
it’s so overrated good lord, ye fans suddenly think it’s a masterpiece because it’s old like relax buddy
Most Kanye albums can be overrated and underrated at the same time because that’s how diverse his range with his audience can be. Someone who’s more into traditional old school rap like TCD and TLR are more likely to be biased against Yeezus while someone who’s more into new school and electronic music is gonna be biased towards it. I disagree that it’s overrated though. It does what it tends to do, catch the listener off guard and show Kanye’s true inner self. Let’s be honest, we’ll probably never get a more real portryal of Ye’s sex life and mentality more than this album.
Nobody is calling it a masterpiece because it’s old now lmao who said that?, they’re calling it a masterpiece cause it was ahead of it’s time like 808s was. Black Skinhead, Blood on the Leaves, New Slaves, Bound 2, etc, nah it’s still a masterpiece. A lot of songs that share the elements of this album became popular years later such as “When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go?”.
That’s such a dumb statement, Revival is pretty old now but nobody calls it a masterpiece because of it. It doesn’t work like that.
It’s an experimental album in his discography, people don’t like it just cause it’s old now, but because they had more time to digest it’s content to finally understand where he was going with this project and appreciate him for it. It’s the same thing with 808s.
I can understand why Yeezus might not be everyone’s most favorite but at the same time I don’t understand the album getting a huge backlash from those same people. “The music and lyrics are harsh”, yeah that’s intentional, the album is about visceral reaction. It still utilizes great sampling and production, Kanye’s intense delivery of those lyrics, and is sonically his most powerful album to date. People are so caught up with the fact that it’s not what they’re used to hearing instead of actually paying attention to the whole thing.
