A really nice rendition of this iconic aircraft. A must have for me. Anthony Lynch is a very serious and talented developer . Flying those old biplanes in real life is really amazing and challenging.
It is indeed a really nice effort Antonio and the same for me - a "must have" in the sim. Yes, I've always enjoyed Ant's work and I was really happy to see him making a re-appearance in MSFS, all the more so when I heard the Tiger Moth was being worked on. I would love to get my hands on a real Tiger Moth one of these days, this virtual rendition will have to do for the time being though. . . ; ) Cheers and all the best!
Ahh, lovely stuff sir! The Tiger Moth is indeed an iconic / beautiful aircraft. Both the Tiger Moth and the Chipmunk, are aircraft that I would love to own a share in one day (there are others, but I think realistically, these are about as "warbird" as my bank balance will allow XD ). It's really nice to now have both of them in the sim. Sounds like it would have been a good day out at Welshpool then! Cheers : )
Haha, it was essentially the same for me Jenny. I tend to be a little bit less fussy when I’m picking something up for review, but the Tiger Moth would have been a “day 1 purchase” either way; I love the aircraft and I’ve always enjoyed Ant’s work previously. Ant has already known in P3D and FSX how to create wonderful flight models and a great immersive representation of this plane. I can't speak for the sound or anything else either, I've just seen one once from about 50 meters during its takeoff. I loved it in P3D in VR and I can't wait to fly it in MSFS, have been waiting for this particular addon since Aug 2020 :D I haven't flown in SU10 yet but the beta was really hard to endure in VR. The world shook around in front of the plane and it was impossible to focus on anything out there --> Headache and dizziness. I'm currently at your takeoff in the video and the ground model has convinced me to purchase it immediately. Great review so far, thank you.. *continuing*
Thanks very much Marc, I'm glad you enjoyed the review! Yes, Ant was one of my favourite devs in FSX / P3D also. Great quality products with more features than most other addons, but at very reasonable prices. I gather the sounds of the FSX Tiger Moth are rather superior to the MSFS version (I don't recall myself), so hopefully Ant can keep tweaking / getting to grips with the MSFS sound engine. Otherwise though, the MSFS Tiger Moth is another cracker from him! I hope SU10 public release fixed up your VR issues. I'm sure the Tiger Moth would be brilliant in VR! Cheers and happy flying : )
I picked this up recently as my grandfather learnt to fly in a Tigermoth and I wanted to let him have a go in VR with it. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by such corkers as the Tomcat in DCS, but this felt very rigid for something built of canvas and wire to me. I’d love a bit of wing flex, seeing the wires taught/loose as loads change- to really get the immersion. I might pester the developer!
Haha, by all means pester the developer Thomas, it's always great to see a product improved further ; ) DCS is one of the best sim's when it comes to the sort of immersive features you mention to be fair; MSFS as a sim, tends to rather be lacking in general (though of course it makes up for this in other areas). I do hope you grandfather enjoyed the experience nevertheless! : ) All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Ha! First- I hope you weren’t offended by my remarks- I do recognise the effort that goes into this sort of thing- and I’m very happy these sorts of things get built! I have no idea how flex effects could be added- but MSFS 2020 does allow some elements. The gliders definitely have wing flex! While I can’t offer much in the way of support, I’d be happy to offer some sponsorship towards investigating feasibility of this if that could be of interest?
Haha, certainly no offence taken Thomas - MSFS does indeed support such effects and it would be nice to see the Tiger Moth given a little bit more “life” etc. I don’t have any involvement with the product directly though, so I’m afraid I can’t facilitate what you’re after. If you can get in touch with the dev, he might be receptive to your feedback / request. I hope you enjoy Christmas with your grandfather! All the best : )
Brilliant, I have been waiting for this and bought it on release day! I've only flown it in easy mode/light winds so far and can't leave it alone. I thought there was a bug when noticing that the windy ASI was over reading, on consulting the manual I discovered that it reads MPH! Tonight I'll change the panel ASI to match. Many thanks for another in-depth, objective review.
Hi WP, Great, I'm really happy to hear that you're enjoying the addon - it is indeed a very nice offering! My absolute pleasure on the review! Thanks for watching and all the best : )
It looks like a fun plane, but if i do get it i think i'll be flying without that conehead blocking the view in front of me. Really fun video as always, the sim looks beautiful on your rig.
Haha, I did think the pilot's head shape was a little odd initially, but I got used to it after a while. Either way, the front chap can be removed for a clearer view. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video Ahiba! Cheers and all the best : )
I flew in a TigerMoth 10 years ago when I was in NZ, it was a great experience. I puchased this addon for FS yesterday and it took me right back to the real thing. Excellent addon.
Brilliant, Simon; I would love to take a ride in a Tiger Moth and I can’t imagine anywhere more beautiful for such a flight, than NZ. Lucky you! I’m glad the video / addon brought back some nice memories! Happy flying and all the best : )
I've just bought it and in VR it's unbelievably stunning... £14... if it was 3x that it would be worth it... what a little beauty. If you fly VR don't think about it just get it because you'l have a smile on your face all the time you fly it. Really good for dead reckoning nav as well if that's your thing as the compass is easy to see.
Really glad you're enjoying the Tiger Moth Rich! I have to agree that the product is excellent value for money and whilst I haven't tried it in VR myself, I can only imagine that it's great! Happy flying : )
Cracking video and review! I've just returned from a road trip to Adelaide, and saw it was released whilst I was away. Of course, I bought it on the spot! Haven't flown it yet, but I reckon the sounds are spot on, and Ant has done a cracking job on this. I'm writing this whilst watching the review.
Thanks as always John, I'm glad you enjoyed it! It is indeed another very nice effort from Ant - happy to see him and the Tiger Moth in MSFS. I hope you had a nice time over in Adelaide and that you have been enjoying the Tiger Moth subsequently. Happy flying! : )
Haha, I didn’t spot that one myself Bullet; some kind of error there then presumably. . . Hopefully the dev will fix that up in due course. All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations It is for sure, If I was a good rider I could make the most of it lolz. Its a while since I have been that way, but when I have, there is normally a plane parked up by the house. A low wing mono plane, dont know what make/model though!. You cant see it from a car, but you can from a bike or ban.
It is indeed a nice effort Richard, very much up to Ant's usual standards. Haha, I was the same; I had all of the above + the Winjeel (though sadly I never really flew the Winjeel, as I more or less retired P3D shortly thereafter). Anyway, if you enjoyed Ant's work in FSX / P3D, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one also : ) Happy flying and all the best!
Just picked this up, on my first flight from Redhill to Little Gransden using the Burning Blue sceneries which are perfect for this type of airport hopping. Watching your review for the second time while in cruise, always good to watch them again post purchase. Flight model wise I quite enjoy it, probably will become my favourite biplane. Having an AP albeit unrealistic is a big bonus imo.
Cheers Stefaan! That’s awesome - that you’re enjoying the content to such a degree, that you’re watching it twice haha. Completely agree; Burning Blue sceneries and the Tiger Moth are a match made in heaven - perfect for these sorts of flights. Happy flying and all the best! : )
Nice aircraft, need to get it soon. Still busy trying to fly through aircraft I have(!) Thanks for a fun relaxing flight and an excellent review and video!
Haha. There are indeed now “too many” great MSFS addons now and never enough time! The Tiger Moth is lovely though and a brilliant option for taking a leisurely cruise in the sim : ) You’re most welcome as always, Art. Cheers!
Hello Anton, I don’t recall smoke being a part of the product’s functionality I’m afraid, no. It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to fly the Tiger Moth, but if such functionality is not mentioned in the product description, I think my memory probably serves me correctly. I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Haha, cheers Gus! As ever, the engine sounds seem to be dividing the audience haha, but I think the sound package is pretty reasonable for the most part (apparently the aircraft actually sounded better in FSX / P3D, so maybe the dev will continue to work on the sounds). All the best! : )
Thanks ItB, excellent review as always. Can we expected a Terrainy Studios RV-8 review at some point? I'm interested in this plane and I'd love to see how it looks and flies
Hi Cjm, Currently, I know the addon is available from both Just Flight and Simmarket. I’m not sure if it’s also retailing through other vendors. I suspect the Tiger Moth will probably also make its way onto the Marketplace, but that’s likely to take a few weeks. I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
Hi Mukkuimama, I'm using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : ) I hope that helps. All the best!

Cool, good to know. Will check the options out. Thanks for the information and reply Captain! Aviation is such a beautiful industry overall, that the positivity trickles down to the simulation community as well.
GREAT intro, what a surprise. For under $20US, what a bargain. This shows how simple flying can be and it was fun to take a ride in a piece of history. I do wish they would "age" the vintage aircraft, it would be hard to find one this fresh on the market! !! !!!
I couldn't disagree more. As a former member of E.A.A.'s antique division I can tell you that present owners of these old airplanes restore them to a condition that was better than when they were new.
@@Sebastopolmark No, I never thought you were. I'm just saying that you can find some of these classic airplanes in absolutely pristine condition. I had an old 1946 ERCOUPE that I flew all the time, so it looked good, but I didn't have the patience to baby it like some guys did.
Thanks again Mark : ) Absolutely! Whilst the addon isn't perfect, I think it's a very nice offering at the $20 price point and for sure it's perfect for enjoying the simpler pleasures of flying within MSFS. I agree that a touch more aging would be nice, perhaps at least the option to turn such texturing on / off. Cheers!
Haha, nice Ronnie! I think the Tiger Moth is a bit of a bargain for what it is and as you say, it’s a hard aircraft to resist. I do hope you’re enjoying the slower pace of life in the sim ; ) Happy flying!
Man, you've got a major backlog. You haven't reviewed the MIG-21, the SwisMilSim De Haviland Vampire, and I just saw the super constellation. If it comes to console though, definitely gonna get me a tigermoth, it's a very nice biplane.
Haha, well alas I can’t review every addon that comes to the sim - there simply isn’t enough time in the day. I’d like to take a look at the MiG-21, but that’s going to take a bit of time, since I’m not familiar with the aircraft and my Cyrillic isn’t too great either haha. As much as I love the Vampire, I wasn’t planning to review the SwissMilSim version unfortunately, as it doesn’t look to be anything spectacular (that’s not to say it looks bad either though) and I did indeed already review the constellation, but a lot has changed since then, so I’m planning on covering the addon again soon ; ) Cheers Deku, all the best!
Haha, you have a good memory Chris! I’m actually planning on covering the Connie again soon, since a lot has changed in those 10 months. Thanks for offering up the link though, much appreciated : )
This all looks very good, but unfortunately the milky/opaque instrument glass ruins the cockpit for me. That's the typical FSX freeware look that rubs me the wrong way in a FS2020 payware aircraft. I would love an option to adjust that, or hopefully it can be fixed with a cockpit texture mod. I will pass for now and hope for a fix in the future.
Hi Jigsaw, Do you know, I didn't even pick up on it myself (you are right though), perhaps too many years spent flying FSX freeware aircraft etc haha. I gather the instrument glass textures have indeed been addressed with the most recent update, though I have yet to see how they now look. Cheers! : )
Thanks very much Julian, I’m glad you found the video useful! Currently I believe the addon is only available from Just Flight and Simmarket, but I suspect it will ultimately become available on the Marketplace (Ant’s Drifter is on there - if memory serves me correctly). Unfortunately the Marketplace tends to lag behind by about 2-4 weeks though, so you might have to wait a while. I hope that clarifies things a little. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the Tiger Moth when the time comes. Happy flying! : )
Hi Kent, I have very little taildragger experience, so I am loath to give a definitive answer, but based on the small amount of experience I do have + time spent with other addons: I would say "remotely", sure. You can get the aircraft to ground loop; it takes a little bit of effort, but full rudder and a quick blast from the engine, she will go round. If you aren't specifically trying to induce the behaviour though, I haven't seen much tendency for the aircraft to want to want to loop naturally. I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )
Hi Mr S, Off the top of my head, this was the best tutorial I have come across over the years (and DoW is also one of my favourite flight sim channels): ua-cam.com/video/YdDvh5zPUWI/v-deo.html I hope you find that useful! All the best : )
Thanks very much Jörg, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Personally, I think the flight model of the Tiger Moth is much improved over the Jungmann. The Tiger Moth probably still isn't perfect, but it "feels" the part; I found that the Bücker 131 felt a bit "generic" in terms of the flight modelling. The Jungmann isn't a bad product (perhaps a bit pricey for what it is mind you), but the Tiger Moth really is a better offering in most respects. I've never flown an open-cockpit tailwheel aircraft, so the above is a bit of an educated guess on my part ; ) I hope that helps. All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Great, yep it helped. I’ll check out the tiger moth. I used a free version of the XP11 TM to prepare myself for biplanes and TW endorsement in wintertime 2 years ago. Now I own a 131 but still use the MSFS version in VR for training purposes. It’s not like the real thing but nevertheless I enjoy it and use it frequently. Have a nice day! ps. Here at EDKF we are going to get a real nice Indian summer weekend .
Such beautiful plane. Beautiful flight. I love this game, stunning graphics, I’ve recently been playing it on my iPhone (and posted a few videos) and it performs beautifully even on a small device. Amazing that you can play such a complex and graphically beautiful game on your phone and on the go. Keep up the good work. Need to work on my planes
Cheers GGM, I'm glad you enjoyed the flight! It truly is quite amazing; that we now have such a sim and all the more so that it can be played on an average mobile phone! I've been simming since FS95 and never could have imagined that we'd be where we are now haha. Thanks very much and happy flying : )
Hi, I was expecting this review! It’s great to see another iconic vintage aircraft in the sim, the choices are almost becoming to great 🤔 I shall be getting this for some pure, vintage and fun flying. Thanks for the review.
Haha, I've been looking forward to this one for a while Peter! It is indeed great to have another classic in the sim and whilst we are perhaps somewhat spoiled for choice at this point, I was never going to say no to the Tiger Moth! As you say, it offers up some pure, vintage fun in the sim and since I can't get my hands on the real deal for the time being, this shall have to suffice ; ) A pleasure as always! Cheers : )
Hi Davide, Haha, always good to see you! Absolutely; we both love a good bi-plane and the Tiger Moth is one of my personal favourites. Really happy to see this one in the sim; it might not be the prettiest addon that we have in MSFS, but it is a great option for some pure vintage fun. Thanks very much for the kind words! UA-cam can be such a rollercoaster at times haha, but I feel very lucky to be able to share my hobby with others and it's very rewarding to see the channel go from strength to strength. Cheers for your support along the way! All the best : )
Haha! Fair point Jim, although the front passenger can be removed, should one so wish - then you’ve got the nose blocking the view instead XD All the best
I'm afraid not Grobut. Personally I prefer the period-appropriate models, but I was still surprised to see that the default pilots weren't an option. Perhaps such functionality will be added in at a later date. . . All the best!
Thanks David, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes, the Tiger Moth is a nice effort overall, but a little let down by its textures (which aren't bad per se, but don't quite hold up to modern standards). Cheers, all the best! : )
I've never been in a Tiger Moth, but having been around plenty of Chipmunks (similar engine) I'd say the sounds are decent. They capture the mechanical sounds but not the deep bark from those Gypsy exhausts. It needs more chugga-chugga like a vintage sports car. Anyway first-rate review as usual. I think it's great that this sim has a Tiger Moth, Chippy, Bulldog and Tutor so you're covered whatever the era (I'd love fly a Magister though).
External sounds are good at tickover, add some revs and it doesn't sound anything like a Gypsy Major unfortunately, more like a low displacement modern light sport aero engine. Internal I like.
Hi Roland! Yeah, I'm not equipped to dish out an informed opinion haha, but that was rather the sense that I got (lacking some noise at the lower end of the spectrum). Apparently the sounds were actually much better on the FSX version of the aircraft (I don't recall at this point), so perhaps Ant will continue to work on / improve them. I'm glad you enjoyed the review! It is indeed great to have a full hangar / range of classic British Trainers; I wish the Texan was done to a slightly higher standard - it's nice that we can now put ourselves through the Spitfire training pipeline haha. Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I am still in possession of a copy of the converted fsx one, I had a poke at the samples there & *instantly* thought "oh, that's a Gypsy Major" - can only think/hope the wrong sample set was used for this. There is a distinctly digital distortion buzz ( the sort of noise you get when you have a low bitrate voice convo, like using a tablet mic with some background noise ) in the internal engine loop & it's sliwly starting to put me off the a/c, which is a huge shame.
Oh, how interesting! Would it be tricky to simply swap the soundsets then? That seems like a very odd situation, given that Ant must still own all the files etc presumably. I still own a copy of the FSX professional Tiger Moth; I presume if one can convert an aircraft into MSFS, it shouldn’t be too hard to convert only the soundset (I used to be pretty proficient at this sort of thing, but haven’t poked around in MSFS nearly as much haha).
Fantastic to see this wonderful old aircraft back. I also enjoyed this in previous sims and was hoping see this model again in MSFS. Great review once again.
Isn’t it Terry! I was really happy to see Ant continuing his work in MSFS - all the more so when the Tiger Moth was announced. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, I do hope you enjoy the Tiger Moth also! Happy flying and all the best : )
Hello Robert, As Brandon points out, usually the Marketplace lags some weeks behind 3rd party vendors unfortunately. Currently the Tiger Moth can be purchased through either Just Flight or Simmarket I believe. I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Only hand swung a gypsy major once, but I have hand started a lot of Renault 4po5 engines (Stampe SV4, french tigermoth clone with improvements) which is pretty much a shitty french clone of the gypsy major and I can say that they sound exactly like they do in this video (at least judging the sounds during the internal run-up). The external idle sound, sounds amazing too but the external sound during takeoff was a bit weird.
Thanks very much for the feedback JN, it's always good to hear these sorts of things from someone "in the know" : ) "a shitty French clone" - zut alors! XD Cheers and all the best!
Hi Fire Fox, I'm not entirely sure what the plan is, but if Ant's "Drifter" is available on the Xbox(?), then I would imagine that it's highly likely the Tiger Moth will be also : ) I hope that helps a little. All the best!
I hear they’ve been spray painting the grass in China this colour of late, but I don’t think that’s what Asobo was going for haha. Apparently the devs have also never visited an airfield - 2ft tall grass in not the norm! : P Cheers, all the best!
The Windshield reflection is only glitchy when you have a front pilot and you can turn either of them on or off by clicking on the top corners of the windshield.
@@Radulph_Gunn Does the price difference of $10-$20 matter to you? There are excellent quality models for almost the same price. It's just immediately clear that the developers don't have all the skills and don't try.
No "clear prop!" Bought this thing yesterday ( day before the review ) & flown it a fair bit, really quite like it. Certainly looks like a Tiger Moth, seems to go like I'd expect a Tiger Moth to go from the ones I've seen ( I'm trying to persuade someone with actual hours on a Tiger Moth to try it ) & it's just fun to gently waft around in. The manual is nicely comprehensive & the full startup is just fun. Once you've trimmed it level you can just steer it with your feet & change altitude with the throttle, it's very relaxing. Negatives list for me: * External sound is more like a Tiger Moth than a jet engine, but about as close to a Gypsy Major( other than idling ) as it is to the jet engine :p. Doesn't really matter to me because the only time I go outside is for startup & screenshots anyway. * It's far too clean even for a hangar queen - textures need some wear & tear & a little depth, it's all a bit homogenous. Glass needs work too. * Apparently you can't even move a tailskid equipped one on grass without the stick fully forward, so even on high friction there's not enough resistance on the ground. Ground roll is quite amazing. I refuse to use the brakes ;) * Needs a better warning of imminent stall somehow - there is a very strange sound it makes on the edge of stall, there's no buffet at all ( there is not apparently much buffet in the real one, but then you're more or less wearing a real one ). Even just a better fluttery noise sample would work. It's similar to the lack of feedback mentioned in the review, so I'm glad I'm not the only onne who immediately picked up on that. * Yellow prop spinner is more like gold! And that's all I can think of. Not really many negatives there honestly, at the moment.
Not true for the "can't move a tailskid equipped one on grass without the stick fully forward" with chocks removed the trim is full aft and stick is held back and its a release of back stick prob by about a third as you give it some power, which is enough to get moving, then keep that stick back and weave while you taxi. :)
@@mikerichardsonukThat was a quote from a friend with some hours on one, but knowing where he lives it's quite possible he did all his time out of mud fields rather than grass :) The sim kite is definitely a bit short of rolling resistance even with it turned up on the tablet, but msfs has no real ground physics so there's not really much anyone can do.
Haha, well there was method to my "madness"; I figured the guy stood right in front of the prop, might think that my shouting at him was a bit redundant : P Nice summary of the product there RD. I very much agree with your points, though I'm a lazy man - I like the brakes XD For the price, I think it's a very nice offering and as you say, certainly makes for some honest, relaxing flying in the sim. Cheers : )
Hi Dingo, Not trying to nitpick (simply clarifying, because it does make a difference), but what I actually said was; "not up to the *very* highest standards" and I meant that quite literally. As I said during the video, I thought; "generally speaking they're done quite nicely", I just feel I've seen more lifelike looking pilot models from a couple of other devs. It certainly wasn't meant as a slight on Ant's work. I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
Hi CP, Yeah, the Tiger Moth is such a classic and Ant has done a really nice job with it overall. Is his “Drifter” available on the console? If it is, I suspect the Tiger Moth will also make its way over at some point. All the best! : )
Thanks much, such a shame it isn't as yet. However I have the stearman and the Swiss made biplane ( my memory again). A little gps in one like the Tiger moth has would be ideal for an epic but rather slow worldwide jaunt. Keep em coming, much appreciated 👍
Haha! My loss was the viewers gain Hani XD I love VR, but I've never found a way to record it satisfactorily (and indeed I don't get great performance in MSFS). So, 2D for videos, VR in my own time generally ; ) All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Sorry for late response! Main problem because this is miscrosoft. MSFS2020 even after TWO years being released still has all old glitches with which it was released. I thought there was a bug when noticing that the windy ASI was over reading, on consulting the manual I discovered that it reads MPH! Tonight I'll change the panel ASI to match. Many thanks for another in-depth, objective review.
Hi WP,
Great, I'm really happy to hear that you're enjoying the addon - it is indeed a very nice offering!
My absolute pleasure on the review! Thanks for watching and all the best : )
It looks like a fun plane, but if i do get it i think i'll be flying without that conehead blocking the view in front of me. Really fun video as always, the sim looks beautiful on your rig.
The conehead is you. The instructor flies from the rear seat.
Monitor pilots 🥱.😜....for this plane you NEED VR and VR only :P
Haha, I would imagine the Tiger Moth is indeed a complete joy in VR Hani! : D
Haha, I did think the pilot's head shape was a little odd initially, but I got used to it after a while. Either way, the front chap can be removed for a clearer view.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video Ahiba! Cheers and all the best : )
Careful, he's sensitive about it.
It will be great for some sightseeing with the open cockpit, especially now with WU11.
Absolutely GP! Happy flying! : )
Flew in a tiger moth yesterday. Engine sounds great in the vid!
Thanks very much for the info Gary. Lucky you, must have been a great flight! Much appreciated and all the best : )
Why come the bracing wires are black in the external views and yellow in the internal views?
Haha, I didn’t spot that one myself Bullet; some kind of error there then presumably. . . Hopefully the dev will fix that up in due course.
All the best! : )
OooI have been passed that farm a number of times while riding my motorbike to Abergavenny!
Haha, very nice sir! Looks like a lovely part of the world to go for a ride in : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations It is for sure, If I was a good rider I could make the most of it lolz. Its a while since I have been that way, but when I have, there is normally a plane parked up by the house. A low wing mono plane, dont know what make/model though!. You cant see it from a car, but you can from a bike or ban.
glad its out in the sim, lovely plane
Yeah, the Tiger Moth is a beauty - great to have it in the sim!
Cheers Ziepex, all the best : )
Oh boy this looks very nice! I had his Drifter, Tiger Moth, Trojan, Eaglet and Sierra in FSX which were all outstanding!
It is indeed a nice effort Richard, very much up to Ant's usual standards. Haha, I was the same; I had all of the above + the Winjeel (though sadly I never really flew the Winjeel, as I more or less retired P3D shortly thereafter).
Anyway, if you enjoyed Ant's work in FSX / P3D, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one also : )
Happy flying and all the best!
It is just a lovely aircraft.. but the Fox Moth is also super nice.
The Tiger Moth is lovely though and a brilliant option for taking a leisurely cruise in the sim : )
You’re most welcome as always, Art. Cheers!
Does this have a smoke switch to turn on the smoke when doing stunts etc?
Hello Anton,
I don’t recall smoke being a part of the product’s functionality I’m afraid, no. It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to fly the Tiger Moth, but if such functionality is not mentioned in the product description, I think my memory probably serves me correctly.
I hope that helps. All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Okey, that's a shame. Thanks anyways 🙂
You’re most welcome! : )
Clear Prop! Nice engine sound :)
Thank you for another fantasic review I love your well put together content. :)
My pleasure once again ZR! Thanks very much for watching; I'm really happy to hear that you continue to enjoy the content : )

Thanks ItB, excellent review as always.
Can we expected a Terrainy Studios RV-8 review at some point? I'm interested in this plane and I'd love to see how it looks and flies
Sorry, didn’t hear where or when this is available. Looks great for a chill flight
Hi Cjm,
Currently, I know the addon is available from both Just Flight and Simmarket. I’m not sure if it’s also retailing through other vendors. I suspect the Tiger Moth will probably also make its way onto the Marketplace, but that’s likely to take a few weeks.
I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
Sir how are you so smoothly moving the camra around in the cockpit?
Hi Mukkuimama,
I'm using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : )
I hope that helps. All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks! I would love to try some, looks so immersive. And dou have any jdea if vr could be as smooth as this as well?
How do you get "lean out of cockpit" view? like 9:54

I'm using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : )
I hope that helps. All the best!
Cool, good to know. Will check the options out. Thanks for the information and reply Captain!
Aviation is such a beautiful industry overall, that the positivity trickles down to the simulation community as well.
You’re most welcome Chintan! My pleasure : )
I would love to see you turn up for work with your leather helmet and goggles to fly your Airbus, but what a beautiful airoplane.
@@PoochAndBoo You misunderstood, I am talking about simmers who buy "vintage" planes. I do not question or want to offend EAA's Antique Division??
@@Sebastopolmark No, I never thought you were. I'm just saying that you can find some of these classic airplanes in absolutely pristine condition. I had an old 1946 ERCOUPE that I flew all the time, so it looked good, but I didn't have the patience to baby it like some guys did.
Thanks again Mark : )
Absolutely! Whilst the addon isn't perfect, I think it's a very nice offering at the $20 price point and for sure it's perfect for enjoying the simpler pleasures of flying within MSFS. I agree that a touch more aging would be nice, perhaps at least the option to turn such texturing on / off.
Cheers!
Couldn’t resist, tried not to buy…until today, looks great ! Hopefully not too hard to configure and fly
Haha, nice Ronnie! I think the Tiger Moth is a bit of a bargain for what it is and as you say, it’s a hard aircraft to resist. I do hope you’re enjoying the slower pace of life in the sim ; )
Happy flying!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Always fun learning something completely different, Tiger Moth fits this category :)
Man, you've got a major backlog. You haven't reviewed the MIG-21, the SwisMilSim De Haviland Vampire, and I just saw the super constellation.
If it comes to console though, definitely gonna get me a tigermoth, it's a very nice biplane.
He reviewed an early access version of the Constellation 10 months ago
ua-cam.com/video/u69Ne1k1kbs/v-deo.html
@@kazzercise I must've missed it. I'll go check it out.
Haha, well alas I can’t review every addon that comes to the sim - there simply isn’t enough time in the day. I’d like to take a look at the MiG-21, but that’s going to take a bit of time, since I’m not familiar with the aircraft and my Cyrillic isn’t too great either haha. As much as I love the Vampire, I wasn’t planning to review the SwissMilSim version unfortunately, as it doesn’t look to be anything spectacular (that’s not to say it looks bad either though) and I did indeed already review the constellation, but a lot has changed since then, so I’m planning on covering the addon again soon ; )
Cheers Deku, all the best!
Hi Jigsaw,
Do you know, I didn't even pick up on it myself (you are right though), perhaps too many years spent flying FSX freeware aircraft etc haha. I gather the instrument glass textures have indeed been addressed with the most recent update, though I have yet to see how they now look.
Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations The latest update indeed fixed the glass by making it more seethrough and less milky. Now the cockpit looks great!
Awesome! Happy to hear it : )
@34:53 External View : You can actually see the right tire bulge when it touches down! A spot-on detail.
Your eyes must be better than mine Stewie; I really can’t tell either way, so I shall have to take your word for it haha ; )
All the best! : )
Mmm, doesn’t look like it, think you might be getting a false impression from it going into shadow.
Another nice and in depth review. For sure I'll be picking this one up. Is it in the marketplace on the sim?
Thanks very much Julian, I’m glad you found the video useful!
Currently I believe the addon is only available from Just Flight and Simmarket, but I suspect it will ultimately become available on the Marketplace (Ant’s Drifter is on there - if memory serves me correctly). Unfortunately the Marketplace tends to lag behind by about 2-4 weeks though, so you might have to wait a while.
I hope that clarifies things a little. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the Tiger Moth when the time comes. Happy flying! : )
is it a least remotely realistic in terms of ground loops?
Hi Kent,
I have very little taildragger experience, so I am loath to give a definitive answer, but based on the small amount of experience I do have + time spent with other addons: I would say "remotely", sure.
I do not know how to use this compass. You know a good YT tutorial on it?
Hi Mr S,
Off the top of my head, this was the best tutorial I have come across over the years (and DoW is also one of my favourite flight sim channels):
ua-cam.com/video/YdDvh5zPUWI/v-deo.html
I hope you find that useful! All the best : )
Hi, thank you for the outstanding review. How does the the flight model compare to the one of the MSFS Bücker 131?
Thanks very much Jörg, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Personally, I think the flight model of the Tiger Moth is much improved over the Jungmann. The Tiger Moth probably still isn't perfect, but it "feels" the part; I found that the Bücker 131 felt a bit "generic" in terms of the flight modelling. The Jungmann isn't a bad product (perhaps a bit pricey for what it is mind you), but the Tiger Moth really is a better offering in most respects.
I've never flown an open-cockpit tailwheel aircraft, so the above is a bit of an educated guess on my part ; )
I hope that helps. All the best!
As you say, it offers up some pure, vintage fun in the sim and since I can't get my hands on the real deal for the time being, this shall have to suffice ; )
A pleasure as always! Cheers : )
Bit late to the party but I’m here 😄
As usual, the more the wings the merrier 😂
Really proud of how far your channel has come, keep it up!
Hi Davide,
Haha, always good to see you!

Have a hard time getting airspeed in the moth. Breaks thanks ..
Great site seeing plane if you enjoy the sight of the back of someone's head.
Haha! Fair point Jim, although the front passenger can be removed, should one so wish - then you’ve got the nose blocking the view instead XD

No option to switch to default pilots? Damn...
I'm afraid not Grobut. Personally I prefer the period-appropriate models, but I was still surprised to see that the default pilots weren't an option. Perhaps such functionality will be added in at a later date. . .
All the best!
Good review. I felt exactly the same. Needs to be higher res and textured.
Thanks David, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, the Tiger Moth is a nice effort overall, but a little let down by its textures (which aren't bad per se, but don't quite hold up to modern standards).

A really nice balanced review iTB - thanks 🙂
Thanks again Haden! Very happy to hear that you enjoyed this leisurely outing / review : )

one flew over my house last week.
Cheers! : )
That's a shame then RD. Although as a "serious" simmer, obviously I wouldn't dare to look at the external view anyway! : P
Why am I not seeing this on the marketplace??
As always, probably 5-6 weeks after launch
Hello Robert,
As Brandon points out, usually the Marketplace lags some weeks behind 3rd party vendors unfortunately.
Thanks very much for the feedback JN, it's always good to hear these sorts of things from someone "in the know" : )
"a shitty French clone" - zut alors! XD
Cheers and all the best!
Anyone know if this is coming to console
Hi Fire Fox,
I'm not entirely sure what the plan is, but if Ant's "Drifter" is available on the Xbox(?), then I would imagine that it's highly likely the Tiger Moth will be also : )
I hope that helps a little. All the best!
seriously, has Asobo ever seen real grass? i cant think of one place in the world that has grass that looks that awful synthetic colour.
I hear they’ve been spray painting the grass in China this colour of late, but I don’t think that’s what Asobo was going for haha. Apparently the devs have also never visited an airfield - 2ft tall grass in not the norm! : P
Cheers, all the best!
No reflection at all on the materials. On the instrument glass, leather and fuselage paint. Even the windshield reflection is glitchy.
The Windshield reflection is only glitchy when you have a front pilot and you can turn either of them on or off by clicking on the top corners of the windshield.
@@Radulph_Gunn Is that a good thing? It all doesn't work right as well as poor quality materials with reflections.
@@alexteux6700 I agree, with your comments but as with most aircraft in MFS I would expect updates and tbf it's fairly inexpensive.
@@Radulph_Gunn Does the price difference of $10-$20 matter to you? There are excellent quality models for almost the same price. It's just immediately clear that the developers don't have all the skills and don't try.
@@Radulph_Gunn Sadly it's glitchy even without the front pilot. I suspect it's something to do with the prop, though.
No "clear prop!"
Bought this thing yesterday ( day before the review ) & flown it a fair bit, really quite like it.
Negatives list for me:
* External sound is more like a Tiger Moth than a jet engine, but about as close to a Gypsy Major( other than idling ) as it is to the jet engine :p.
I refuse to use the brakes ;)
* Needs a better warning of imminent stall somehow - there is a very strange sound it makes on the edge of stall, there's no buffet at all ( there is not apparently much buffet in the real one, but then you're more or less wearing a real one ).
@@mikerichardsonukThat was a quote from a friend with some hours on one, but knowing where he lives it's quite possible he did all his time out of mud fields rather than grass :)
The sim kite is definitely a bit short of rolling resistance even with it turned up on the tablet, but msfs has no real ground physics so there's not really much anyone can do.
@@Karibanu yes and long grass will def effect it,

Interesting Mike! Thanks for the info : )
Haha, well there was method to my "madness"; I figured the guy stood right in front of the prop, might think that my shouting at him was a bit redundant : P
Nice summary of the product there RD. I very much agree with your points, though I'm a lazy man - I like the brakes XD
For the price, I think it's a very nice offering and as you say, certainly makes for some honest, relaxing flying in the sim.

Hi, excellent review. Thanks and take care👍👍👍
Thank you sir! Tally ho! ; )
Pilots models not up to high standard? They look fine to me. What do you mean/want?
Hi Dingo,
Not trying to nitpick (simply clarifying, because it does make a difference), but what I actually said was; "not up to the *very* highest standards" and I meant that quite literally. As I said during the video, I thought; "generally speaking they're done quite nicely", I just feel I've seen more lifelike looking pilot models from a couple of other devs. It certainly wasn't meant as a slight on Ant's work.
I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations All good thanks for the clarification
What a corker, hope it goes to xbox

Thanks much, such a shame it isn't as yet. However I have the stearman and the Swiss made biplane ( my memory again).

the only problem - this is msfs...
Dare I ask, why is that a problem Maks haha?
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Sorry for late response! Main problem because this is miscrosoft. MSFS2020 even after TWO years being released still has all old glitches with which it was released. Their so-called "unique" super modern CFD physics blah-blah still doesn't work properly. Flaps not working as they should. Ground physics awful. Graphics look good only at very high altitude. Close to ground like after thermo-nuclear war, etc. I personally prefer XP12.
