That crisp ATC audio puts me right back in the cockpit... excellent video. I've been waiting to see a real pilot put this plane through its paces. You (and the plane) performed exceptionally! Bravo to Black Square for these outstanding aircraft. I can never go back to flying anything else.
Thanks very much for the kind words Toby, I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight and of course the Bonanaza! Black Square are indeed doing a top notch job and haven’t really put a foot wrong since they’ve started the “Steam Gauge Overhaul” series - I’m very much looking forward to what they come up with next. Happy flying and all the best! : )
This is a plane that I have been faithfully waiting for ever since the sim was released. In real life, I own a 1977 A36, still with the original avionics it shipped with (except for the GNS 530/430 suite for easier IFR flight), and having a G36 with G1000 screens just wasn't good enough. Really excited to try this one out, considering I own every other Black Square addon, and are very fond of their work. Can't wait to see how well this plane lines up with the POH
@@CCitis absolutely phenomenal. Almost nothing bad to say about it. Exactly what I would expect from the real life counterpart (minus some slow speed characteristics, but that could easily be down to the sim rather than Black Square)
I have to say I was mesmerised by all the cockpit manipulations, it all made sense, I understood what you said and why you did what you did, but so far out of my league skill wise. I will watch this several more times to help clarify the correct procedures and learn a bit more from it. And yet again thanks for sharing your exemplary skills as a pilot and video editor. A treat to watch.
Thank you very much once again Rahman! I’m genuinely really glad that you found some value in the video and if you enjoyed it also, then all the better! I have to say that I really enjoyed the flight myself haha; the RNAV and LDA were new to me also, so it was good fun expanding my virtual skill set. My pleasure once again! I hope you’re having a great weekend : )
Thanks very much Weggelaar, my pleasure! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and felt you got something out of it. Much appreciated and all the best to you : )
I'll be getting this. I think Black Square have frankly worked wonders with these, as the default aircraft are (in my opinion) largely awful. I love the Kingair especially. If they make a few changes to the flight models in future, these will be the perfect GA aircraft. Good video as always mate. 👍
Haha, I don’t mind a few of the default aircraft myself (they are default aircraft after all), but there’s no doubt that Black Square takes them to a whole new level! The King Air is superb and the Bonanza / Baron have very much followed suit (the Caravan is great, but it doesn’t do quite as much for me personally). I do hope that we’ll continue to see updates / flight model improvements, but I’ll continue to have a lot of fun with the Black Square lineup either way I’m sure. Thanks very much once again sir! I do hope you’re keeping well. Happy flying : )
@Into the Blue Simulations yes mate keeping well thank you, hopefully you are yourself. If Black Square can continue to give this kind of care snd attention to some of the other default GA aircraft, then they will continue to be essential purchases. One thing I would like to see however is a little attention done to the external modelling. Asobo permitting, of course. I do completely agree with you about the Caravan, too. It isn't as serious as the Kingair, and it's not as fun as the Bonanza, for me.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Black Square are allowed to touch the external modelling, it’s against the licensing agreement of using it apparently (although I don’t know where the line is drawn, since they were allowed to add tip tanks to the Bonanza). I know it’s easier said than done, but it would be nice if Asobo used a little of discretion on these sorts of things. Either way, I don’t tend to spend much time outside of the virtual cockpit personally, so I can live with the models as they are (though some improvements would be nice of course!). Cheers : )
Absolute must buy for me. In no small part to your superb pre-release review of the systems. I love my GA, and this conversion looks better than the Just Flight PA-28 examples. Thanks buddy.
I do hope you’re having fun with the Bonanza then Chris! I’m glad you enjoyed the video; the Bonanza / scenery / weather certainly made for a fun and interesting flight on my end. As I was just saying to someone else; there are better addons out there so far as flight modelling etc goes, but if you’re a “systems guy” (as I’m sure many of us are), the Black Square lineup is hard to beat currently (and their aircraft still fly nicely at any rate)! You’re most welcome as always. Thanks once again : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Oh hold on. I can't let you get away with that lol 😁 What plane would you say has the best flight modelling in the sim that you have tried? If you recommend it, then I am buying it. 👍 I know this puts you on the spot somewhat, yet I trust your judgement.
Haha, well it was actually intended as more of a “throwaway” comment Chris, merely stating that there are better flight models out there XD Since you ask though; the king is *obviously* the HPG Hot Air Balloon, but other addons worthy of mention: - Fenix A320 is still the best handling jet in my opinion - FlyInside Bell 47 seems like the most convincing heli - The Got Friends Wilga is probably one of the best SEP’s currently - FlyingIron Hellcat for the best warbird - MILVIZ C310 for the twins (though it’s very hard to pick apart from the C414). In fairness, I couldn’t really give you a “best flight model in the sim”, since they all have their own strengths and weaknesses + I’ve never flown most of the aircraft listed above. I still think the Fenix takes some beating though, in terms of accurately recreating the “feel” of flying the aircraft. Not nearly as solid an answer as you were hoping for I’m sure haha, but these sorts of things are always so hard to nail down and are still very subjective at the end of the day (I dared to venture back into P3D the other day and had forgotten how great that can be in some respects - it did make me realise just how “twitchy” MSFS still is). Cheers! ; )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations You couldn't get a more solid answer buddy. Way more detail than I deserve 😁👍 I already have the Wilga and agree fully. I love it. You know I'm not really a Twin Prop pilot. I can't put my finger on it, I'm just dedicated to the single engine. As I am Freighters. I will not fly passenger jets unless its been converted to Cargo. I'm really weird lol. Hence why I know when the PMDG 777 releases I'm going to get divorced 😁 Right I'm off to buy the Black Square Bonanza 👍 Cheers for the help buddy.
A perfect demonstration of how to fly an IFR. Not much of a fan of the plane but have changed my mind after this perfect flight. Black Square added to that decision, the route's not too shabby either. As always educational & professional. Cheers, Captain
Thanks very much Conleth! Whilst I wouldn’t profess that the flight was perfect hehe (what flight ever is), I certainly thoroughly enjoyed accomplishing this route in the Bonanza (the route is well worth a try, even if you’re on the fence regarding the A36 ; ) My pleasure as always! Many thanks once again : )
Appropriately, ‘Bonanza’ - the American Western television series that ran on NBC from 1959, to 1973, set in the 1860s and which centres on the wealthy Cartwright family, who live in the vicinity of Virginia City, Nevada, bordering Lake Tahoe. The term ‘bonanza’ derived from the Spanish, & arose from discovery of the 1859 silver lode located near Lake Tahoe 😅 The Beechcraft Bonanza has now operated longer than the show but type featured the occasional moral quandary as per the show’s trope as well as dependable values ;) and more variant updates than the 1962 Johnny Cash rewrite version of the musical theme of the TV show 😂
Great review as always. Thanks also for showcasing the use of the included and add on navigation aids on this trip, that was something of a masterclass. Best wishes!
Thanks very much once again Terry! My pleasure; I thought it was about time I finally learnt how to use that RNAV unit XD Hopefully, I should have a Baron video out within a couple of days (unsurprisingly, it’s another excellent offering from Black Square). If I can get the editing finished today, I’ll post the video on the early-access playlist, for yourself and others. Best wishes to you also! : )
IRL I’m a lowly sport pilot but I’m learning this aircraft in the sim and it’s amazing how stable and easy to land it is, compared to an LSA which I think is equivalent to a “microlight” in Europe. Heartily recommend books by John C. Eckalbar if you want to learn the fine points of the Bonanza and Baron as well as IFR.
Thank you very much Watercolour, I’m really glad you found the video useful! I must admit, whilst I try to be as accurate as I can with procedures / systems operation, I often tend to fall back on “default” power settings, that I’ve picked from real world flying over the years. If a manual readily offers up appropriate power settings, I’ll generally use those in my videos, but otherwise I tend to go with full power for takeoff 25/2500 for climb and 22/2300 for cruise, as that covers a lot of the “complex” normally-aspirated aircraft I’ve flown (I’ve never actually flown anything with a turbocharger, so I tend to make educated guesses if the manual doesn’t offer anything up). I hope that clarifies things. Thanks very much once again and all the best! : )
Another great video in challenging weather conditions. Love the aircraft since FSX and this adoption and enhancement makes it one of my favorites in MSFS. Thank you!
Thanks very much Alexander, I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight (I have to say that I very much did also - the Bonanza / MSFS made for a great combination)! Great to hear that you’ve been having some fun with the Bonanza also. Happy flying and all the best! : )
Ah very nice Keith! Looks like a beautiful part of the world to learn to fly in (might be a bit more pleasant still in the summer haha). I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I’m a crappy pilot but was really surprised at how smooth and easy the Bonanza is to land. It’s a hot rod but weirdly docile in the pattern and landing. Hats off to you sir, excellent IFR skills and demonstrations of serious piloting, love your content, coolness to aspire to.
Haha, well I’m sure that’s not true, Patrick! I’ve not flown a Bonanza in the real-world, but I’ve generally always heard nice things about its handling characteristics. Thank you very much for the kind words! I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed the video and indeed that you’re enjoying the content in general. Much appreciated : ) All the best!
I've only flown one LDA in real life, here in the states. That's the LDA RWY 02 at Hartford-Brainard (KHFD) in Connecticut. With a 20* offset, it's quite noticeable on final (and quite rewarding I might add). Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I'm currently enjoying the Milviz C-310 in VR, so I don't think I'll get this addon, but your video convinced me to step up to the TDS 750 from the PMS. I fly the G1000 IRL which is awesome. Still love steam though, which is what I got my PPL with. Steam, No GPS and No autopilots in the flight school fleet back in 1998. 😂 In hindsight, I'm actually glad that I learned that way, so I appreciate the technology even more, especially GPS! Also glad I learned in one of the busiest airspace sectors in the nation, the NY Class B. I was based at KTEB Teterboro, NJ (Class-D) under the Bravo! Do you know how to tell a real pilot from a sim pilot on UA-cam videos? Real pilots get rid of the Flight Director when they're not actually flying by it LOL 🤣
Hi Redtail, I don't think I've ever actually flown an LDA in anger. I've flown a couple in the sim at work, but it was certainly nice to try one in MSFS and also whilst flying something a little more "basic" (I'm sure that it was rather rewarding to fly one for real). Just for your info, I'm actually using the TDS GTNXi in this video (as opposed to the PMS GTN750). Both units have their strengths and weaknesses (I've covered both on the channel), but the TDS addon uses the real-world Garmin software (so feels much more authentic) and if you're primarily a US flyer it's great, as it comes with a full set of US charts. So something to think about, perhaps. Much like you, I'd take a G1000 for any challenging real-world flying haha, but I much prefer keeping things "old school" in the sim. I learned to fly a few years after you, but (happily) the tech was still pretty much the same at the time. Haha. I must admit, I don't always remember to kill the flight director in the sim, but don't tell anyone! XD Cheers and all the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations haha I forget sometimes as well, until it quickly annoys the hell out of me, lol. I notice some sim pilots flying entire flights with the darn thing on 😂
Entertaining. Educational. And most important: Inspiring for serious simmers. An aircraft mod I could killed for a couple of years ago. - Now it show the increased standard in MSFS. Probably purchase among other excellent aircraft. Pure gold from both Black Square and Into the Blue Simulations.
Thank you very much Øystein, very kind of you to say! Haha, very true and it just goes to show how much the MSFS landscape has shifted in the last couple of years. The Black Square products have been some of my favourite to date and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how the dev takes the series forward (wouldn’t it be great if they could achieve the same thing with some of the Carenado aircraft). I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and indeed the Bonanza. Many thanks once again : )
I was anticipating this release a lot, and excited to see you flew it. It is really great to have a UA-camr flying these aircraft as it should be flown…. A relief from others pretending they know what to do. People can really learn from your videos. I was hoping to see you work with the EDM800 and lean of peak, because I quit flying 11 years ago and kind of forgot it but you decided to lean rich of peak. I also was surprised to see you kept it lean a lot during landing. One day I landed in a Piper Seneca at Big Bear airpoert LA in RL and one engine stopped running on the last fase of landing because I still had it leaned (also high elevation airport - 8.000 ft. Or so) I hope you keep up the good work🙏🏻👍
For people interested in the lean of Peak or Rich of peak methode, i found this video to be very clear (although with a older version of the EDM800 - the EDM700 - the principles are the same). See here: ua-cam.com/video/JpjYlimlgig/v-deo.html
Hi Ben, Thank you very much for the kind words once again! I think all of us UA-camrs have our own style; I’m not nearly as entertaining as some of my fellow content creators, but a lot of my own personal flight simming enjoyment comes from trying to do things “right” and I try to put that across in my videos, which I think helps give the channel its own little niche. Certainly, I’m always happy if can teach a thing or two in the process as well! Haha, to be honest, that pretty much covered the full extent of my knowledge regarding the EDM800. I’ve never used one before (either in a sim, or in the real world) and if I’d tried to go into any more depth, I would have absolutely fallen into the category of “pretending to know what to do” XD The same is true with the mixture leaning to a certain degree. I have many more hours flying jets, than I do piston engined aircraft and having done most of my flying in the UK, leaning for altitude was never really a consideration haha (indeed leaning at all - we rarely flew above 3,000ft). So, it may well be that I had the engine leaned out too much for the altitude (vs real life), but the setting seemed to work pretty well in the sim. Someone else mentioned leaning out below peak EGT; I was quite surprised to hear that, as I was lead to believe that idea had sort of been “phased out” many years ago, but perhaps not then? Crikey, loosing an engine on short final, at 8,000ft must have given you quite a shock!! I managed to shut down an engine inadvertently just the once (I pulled the throttle back too far, before the engine had a chance to warm up properly), luckily I was still on the ground, but it did happen right in front of the tower, so that was rather embarrassing XD Thanks very much once again! All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks for the long reply, nothing serious happened there when one engine stopped running, in happened in the flare (so on taxi in i pretended to save fuel on one engine....life is all about pretending things isn't it?...)🤣🤣
Thank you very much for the kind words, Droge - much appreciated! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the content : ) Many thanks for the sub and welcome aboard!
The Bonanza looks and behaves so realistically. It looks like what I would expect if I were sitting in the aircraft. The flight looks like the snowstorm I drove through over last Christmas in Western New York.
Haha, well thanks very much Fuzz, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Whilst I don’t tend to make many tutorials these days, I kind of hope people can pick up a thing or two from these sorts of videos also. To be fair, having never tried an RNAV unit, or LDA approach myself, this video was quite the learning experience for me as well haha. Cheers once again! : )
Cheers Jep, glad you enjoyed it! This was actually my first time putting the KNS81 to use, but it seems like a very interesting piece of kit and I’m sure could make for some interesting flights in the future (I had thought about doing a video on point to point navigation - the KNS81 would certainly make that much easier haha : P ) All the best! : )
Thanks very much Martin! I completely agree regarding the Bonanza and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’m very much looking forward to the Baron also. Cheers and all the best! : )
Thank you very much indeed for the kind words twifosp, much appreciated! I’m really glad you’re finding the content useful and (by the sounds of it) reasonably objective. Cheers again and all the best! : )
Another great video & a great review. Looking forward to this one. I like flying the Bonanza cos it always feels just right. I'm liking the various 'tweaks' that can only improve the experience. Strangely, I think the wing tip tanks make it look as if it means business. Thanks again. 👍🏼
Thanks very much once again AS! I do hope you’re enjoying the Bonanza then. Haha, I’ve always thought the same; wing tip tanks somehow make an aircraft look more serious, sort of like “go faster stripes” on a car I suppose haha ; ) I hope you’re having a great weekend! Cheers : )
I wish Blacksquare would extend their advanced systems modelling to the modern glass versions as well. Simply release a version of their updates without the analogue gauges and uses the modern default setup of the cockpit, but with all the functionality they added here.
Hi Quoten, I had a similar conversation with someone, back when Black Square first came out with the King Air overhaul. It certainly seems like a reasonable path to take and would no doubt broaden the appeal of Black Square’s excellent work further (especially now the default Garmin avionics have been much improved). Going off Toby’s comment, perhaps we will see exactly that. . . Cheers, all the best! : )
Haha, I’ve had very mixed results with MSFS icing: It certainly used to be way overdone, but Asobo do seem to have toned it down in more recent updates. The icing in this flight seemed quite reasonable, but I do still have occasions where the whole aircraft basically ices up instantaneously. I guess some of it also comes down to what the devs of a specific addon choose to visually model (it may be that more of the Bonanza’s frame was iced up and it simply wasn’t displaying as such). All the best : )
Haha, well thank you very much for the kind words DP, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! I do hope you’re enjoying the Bonanza also, if you ended up picking it up. Happy flying and all the best! : )
Haha, welcome back, sir! I think a lot of people considered the Comanche was the “be-all-and-end-all”; as amazing as the addon is (and it is almost certainly, the best GA addon for MSFS), there are still plenty of other aircraft that have their own appeal. I need to find some time for the Bonanza myself, actually. . . Happy flying and all the best! : )
Thanks very much Ray, my pleasure! I’m really glad you found the review helpful. I do hope you’re enjoying the Baron now that it has released then; both the Baron and the Bonanza are excellent addons overall. Happy flying and all the best! : )
Thank you for this wonderful flight. I have recently bought the Blacksquare Analog Caravan, as well as the WB-Sim Cessna 172 Classic Enhancement. The default planes in MSFS are really excellent graphically, but they lack the systems depth that creates another level of immersion. So I really like the approach Blacksquare have chosen and definitely will be buying the Analog Bonanza as well!
Thanks very much Volker! My pleasure as always and I’m glad you enjoyed it! Certainly, the level of depth and perhaps more importantly the random failures / persistent state, really adds a whole other level to flight simulation. The Bonanza is excellent as will be the Baron also (I should have a video on that soon hopefully) - I still need to try that C172 enhancement addon (too many addons, never enough time haha!). Happy flying and all the best! : )
Hi Tony, I didn’t actually try the sun visors myself (Toby would seem to suggest that they do work), but it is a shame certain details aren’t modelled on the aircraft - doors being the big one obviously; I completely understand that certain elements are beyond Black Square’s control, but the addons are *so* good otherwise, that these sort of details just seem a shame haha. Nevertheless, I’ve really been enjoying Black Square’s output to date. I’m very glad you felt the video was useful. Thanks very much and all the best! : )
I love watching you fly. You make it all look so simple. What scenery are you using? Everything looked so good. The slight snow and the over cast. Even the airports looks great with that pickup there at the end.
Thanks very much TK421, I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight! I try and put in a proficient effort where I can, though sometimes it does feel a little more “hectic” behind the scenes haha ; ) The scenery was pretty much all default, just using the USA World Update (which provides the hand-crafted versions of Reno / Lake Tahoe). The winter trees were part of the Bijan Four Season mod and the snow coverage was just a bit of tweaking on my part, using the in-sim weather menu (I think I went with about 5cm of snow coverage). I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
I'm surprised it started the first try. Other people reviewed this thing and they had to fiddle with the mixture and throttle before they finally got it running.
Haha, clearly I have the magic touch TY! ; ) I can’t speak for the Bonanza, but certainly some piston engined aircraft can be a little bit tricky to get started, particularly when they’re cold. I could be entirely wrong and I don’t want to cast any aspersions, but I wonder if the aircraft wasn’t being over primed in the vids you mention; that’s an easy trap to fall into (I managed to give myself a lot of grief in a C152 once, doing exactly that XD ). All the best! : )
Great preview! None of the other Bo's have been completely to my liking so I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm really enjoying their Velocity after the recent update, so I have high hopes for this.
Thanks Roland! I’ve never really spent much time with the Bonanza in any sim previously and I certainly wasn’t bowled over with the MSFS default version (especially initially). The Black Square A36 won me over pretty instantly though - a superb effort. I hope you’re enjoying it also! Someone else was speaking quite highly of the Velocity. It looks just a little too futuristic for my tastes haha, but it also looks like an interesting aircraft for sure. I hope you’re keeping well! Cheers : )
Haha, you might be surprised what you can achieve with your current setup MO. A newer graphics card will likely never hurt of course, but a lot of MSFS’ beauty comes from its weather / lighting; I spend quite a bit of time when recording my videos, tweaking the weather and time of day to achieve the desired result. I’m glad you enjoyed it anyway! Cheers, all the best : )
Hi, first of all thanks for the video, it is very informative. i have a question, using the GTN 750, i am not able to engage the AP, or better the autopilot engage but the NAV buttom stays off and doesn't follow the GPS, same for the altitude. if i am using the GNS530 i don't have these issues and everything work perfectly, but the GNS530 has limitation for approach in small airport. Do you know why it doesn't work for me hte GTN750? Thank you in advance
Hi Andrea, My pleasure on the video, I’m glad you enjoyed it! If you’re having a problem using NAV with the GTN750 specifically, I would suggest first making sure that you’re using the most up to date version of the addon (TDS or PMS). This has solved a number of issues for me in the past and is also recommended in the Black Square manual. As far as the NAV mode not working; do you have your HSI slaved to GPS, as opposed to VOR/ LOC (this can changed at the bottom of the GTN750 unit)? That could be the reason that NAV mode is not engaging. I hope that helps a little. Cheers and all the best! : )
Dev was able to make some mods, mainly minor, the exterior is the same other than in that variant where he's added the tip tanks. Several changes to the interior of course to match the exemplary standards of the coding.
Cheers Blindsight, glad you’re liking the look of the Bonanza! Haha yes, I perhaps didn’t articulate that point very well. The product does make use of the default Bonanza model, the tip tanks have been added though (as you correctly point out). In theory, I believe the licensing / use of the Asobo model, doesn’t allow Black Square to make alterations (hence no opening doors). I don’t know where the line is drawn though, since the addition of tip tanks was clearly acceptable. All the best! : )
Yet again another great video captain, One of my favorite planes to fly the A36 bonanza, although the older analog look, is that in time, personally I prefer the new bonanza with all the bells and whistle’s, Garman, 3000 etc., well flown sir in ifr conditions I look forward to the next one from the 49th State. Cheers.
Thanks very much once again Phill, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! Don’t get me wrong, in real-world IFR conditions, I’d take the Garmin units every time haha, but steam gauges have so much more character and certainly in the sim, they are my preferred option every time ; ) Catch you on the next one! All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations oh absolutely captain Ted I would put want anything these days other than Garmin GPS systems but back in the day and I know you come from back a little bit to the analog systems were the only way that we can navigate DMA’S HSI‘s I mean that’s how we lived, but it’s almost like going back to windows that winked but DOS as a networking system for the Internet, or you’ve got mail AOL it’s hard to jump forward and then fall back
Hi AV8R, Going off Black Square’s other efforts to date, I’d pretty much take anything they can give us haha. A Cub would be brilliant, although I’d prefer one with a little more vintage myself ; ) Cheers, all the best! : )
Thank you for another very nice Video. It is a really nice plane. However one thing i cannot help to note is how light it feels and if you add like 50% on the brakes and then release for full, it accelerated ungodly fast, no where near what i see real Bonanzas do. It's almost like a STOL plane. It is a pretty stark contrast to planes like the 310, and the Arrows that accelerate a lot slower and have a much, much longer takeoff run.
Cheers Coenraad! Yes, it’s a shame the flight models don’t get the same treatment as the systems, with the Black Square products (it seems like an obvious move to make). I’ve said it to a few people and I think it rings true; the Black Square products are really for those “systems simmers” amongst us, there are better options out there for those that are more flight model oriented (but then to be fair, MSFS probably isn’t the preferred platform at that point anyway). I would imagine the Bonanza to have a bit more “get up and go” than an Arrow, but it probably shouldn’t be doing a cat launch as you describe ; ) Thanks again! : )
Hi John, As en0n helpfully points out, the ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Happy flying and all the best!
Hi Jeremy, I’m not 100% sure on that one myself. I did notice the fluctuations; either it’s a bug or, given that the engine is turbo-normalised, perhaps the fluctuations are caused by the turbo building up pressure and then a waste gate kicking in. That was my guess anyway, but I could be completely wrong haha XD Cheers, all the best!
Great review per usual. I drove by the KTVL Tahoe airport just the other weekend. Record snow this year, absolutely unreal. I live in Sacramento CA and made the KSMF->KTVL flight in the sim a while back flying the Cessna 414 (one of my favorite GA aircraft). What are you using for the winter cover? Looks amazing, doesn't seem like MSFS stock to me.
Hi Sean, Thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Haha, you’re lucky you could drive at all; one flake on snow in the UK and the whole place falls apart ha. Tahoe and the surrounding mountains looks a beautiful part of the word though! The winter effects were “semi stock”. I was using Bijan’s Four Season mod for the trees (with winter coverage selected) and for the snow coverage, I just played around with the depth setting in the MSFS weather menu (I find around 4-5cm gives a really nice visual effect). I hope that helps a little. Thanks once again! : )
Hi Jeff, The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Cheers and all the best!
1. How it it on th FPS vs the default ? 2. Which one of the Blacksquare planes are the most enjoyable? =) 3. Is that GPS coming with the game? 4. Default sounds, MSFS shaking etc (not FSR) ?
Hi RYMD, 1. To be honest, I forgot to check the FPS impact (usually I like to do so during a review); the Baron is costing me about 8fps though, so I would imagine the Bonanza will be much the same (of course this will vary to some degree, based on your system setup). 2. For me, the King Air is still my clear favourite. In part, due to the fact that’s there’s not really anything else like it in the sim, but also because the greater complexity of the aircraft’s systems, really highlights all the exceptional work that Black Square put into their products. After that, it would go Baron, Bonanza (very close call there) and then the Caravan. 3. No, as stated in the video, the GPS is a separate payware purchase. 4. Yes, all default / product effects. There was no use of FS Realistic etc in the video. I hope that helps? All the best! : )
Haha, I still think that now XD I don’t know what it is about tip tanks exactly, but they make an aircraft look more “sporty” somehow. I guess they are the “go faster stripes” of the aviation world haha. All the best! : )
I’m afraid I’m not the man for the job there AN, I’ve yet to really figure out the fuel computer myself haha. I’d like to get stuck into the manual and figure out the specifics, but I barely have any spare time at the moment unfortunately. Apologies on that. Best of luck with it all! Cheers : )
Awesome! Is this simply the default Bonanza with Blacksquare or is there another download for the skin and mechanics? (Better view, window opening etc.)
I believe the is the default external model, so no extra work has been done externally, doors will not open etc, however from the reviews I've seen Black Square have done an incredible job on the internals, updating the dash, improving the sounds and generally making everything work. The choice of avionics is a nice touch as well as everything is persisted from each flight, so miss behave on a flight and it might catchup with you in a later flights.
Hi Brooks, Apologies for the slow reply. It is indeed the default Bonanza, with only the Black Square mod installed (although the two aircraft will show up as separate options within the sim). I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
Hi Ben, I’m using the TDS Garmin GTNXi. If you’re using the same addon, make sure you are running the most up to date version (TDS added the weather functionality some time ago). I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )
Thanks for another comprehensive tutorial! Much appreciated... 😊👍🏻 Noting the Navigraph moving map on your charts in the TDS GTNXi - is that set that up in the TDS software or do you have to provide your Navigraph credentials for each aircraft with the TDS option?
TDS GTN uses the charts built in from Garmin, the same ones used in the free trainer software (since it IS the trainer software). No Navigraph required. Downside is it is potentially a little out of date, and is North America only I believe.
Thanks very much WTF, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! As Kengou helpfully points out, the charts aren’t actually Navigraph, but rather part of the Garmin / TDS database. In other words, the charts come “included” with the TDS GTNXi, but it’s worth noting that coverage is only available throughout the United States (elsewhere chart functionality will not be available and no Navigraph integration etc is currently supported). I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
Hi Bob, I was using the TDS Garmin GTNXi, available for purchase from the TDS website. The other option is the PMS GTN750; both units have their strengths and weaknesses, so I would recommend figuring out ahead of time, which one best suits your needs (I prefer the TDS unit personally, as it uses the real world Garmin software). I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
Hello, what you have to know about this plane is that it doesn't always save the plane and it's very often reseted automaticaly. I never have to reset it myself and never go below 90%.
Hi Jress, I’m afraid I’m not really the man for that job. Firstly, I don’t own the PMS 750 myself, secondly, whilst reasonably familiar with the TDS version of the unit, I wouldn’t consider myself an expert at operating it / knowledgable of all of its functions. Hence, I don’t really feel equipped to be making a tutorial on the Garmin. Sorry I can’t be of more help on that one. All the best! : )
Hi Gervan, All of my flights / videos to date have been using TrackIR. I have just purchased a new PC though, so if I can find an acceptable solution for recording, I may look at some VR content also : ) I hope that clarifies things. All the best!
Great video! I have a question though? How did you determine that based on a ground speed of 180, you would need 2.5 nm out to turn on final? Is there a formula that applies to this, and if so, how is that different if your turn is less than 90 degrees? Much appreciated!
Hi FBG, Good question! There is a great rule of thumb for judging such turns and I also used a little bit of a “fudge factor” haha. When making a 90 degree turn, pre-empting the turn by 1% of your groundspeed tends to work out pretty nicely (ie at 180kts, turning about 1.8 miles before your turning point, should have you rolling out roughly on track). As the turn was over 90 degrees, I elected to pre-empt the turn slightly earlier still, but I don’t know of any formula that accounts for more / less acute turns, so I tend just to make an educated guess, based on the previous calculate value (you can see that the first turn worked out very nicely, whereas we slightly undershot the second one). I hope that helps a little? Really glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks. That helps a lot. Even if it’s not a hard rule, I’m going to try implementing it, so I’m at least in the ballpark on my turns.
Hi TB, I don’t know if there are any aerodynamic reasons as to why the Bonanza has aileron trim (probably not), but I’d be inclined to say that such things are almost like having optional extras on a car; aileron trim can be nice to have, but of course it comes at a financial cost, as well as adding weight and complexity to the aircraft etc. Presumably, Piper felt that the benefits didn’t outweigh the cost, whereas Beechcraft (with the Bonanza arguably being a more “premium” aircraft also) decided to include the option for their customers. The Bonanza is IFR certified (as far as I’m aware), it’s just not certified for flight into known icing conditions (as it doesn’t have the facilities to deal with airframe icing). I hope that helps? Cheers! : )
Hi Misanthrope, The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Happy flying and all the best!
I'm afraid the best quality V-Tail 36 you can get is the A2A Simulation one, but its only available for P3D V4.5 / 5. They still make the best piston analogue aircraft out there in my opinion
@@neilward5968 Yeah, A2A make some great stuff! Can't wait for them to do more with MSFS, hopefully they'll bring their Bonanza over and I can be happy lol.
Streaky! I hope it’s going well good sir : ) I was actually saying to someone else just the other day, I do hope Black Square can figure out some way of working with the Carenado products (the V-tail Bonanza included). Carenado’s visuals and Black Square’s systems depth, could make for a formidable combination! Cheers and all the best!
All good thanks! Hopefully likewise for yourself :) That would be excellent if Black Square did do something with the Carenado stuff, but I think they're likely to focus on aircraft already in the base game. It gives them a wider potential customer base, as you don't have to buy both their addon and Carenados to use it. That said, I do really hope they will upgrade the Carenado stuff sooner or later. Tbf though, what I'd really like to see is Black Square working with Carenado on an aircraft from the get go. To make it from scratch with them. (Or with any other company that makes visually decent, but systems depth lacking aircraft) I think, given what they've achieved modifying what already exists, I'd bet if they were given a totally free hand to build from scratch the output would be excellent!
Yes, all good here thanks! I’m not so sure haha : P Given that Black Square just did the Baron, an aircraft which many people don’t own, I could see them taking on some payware aircraft also. The other bonus of going with a Carenado aircraft, over a “Deluxe” MSFS one, is that at least the customer can purchase the Carenado aircraft on an individual basis (rather than having to pay the ridiculous upgrade prices for the Deluxe / Premium Deluxe versions of the sim). I’ll be happy with whatever Black Square choose to do though and of course there might be licensing issues etc with adapting other payware products (although REP modded Carenado products in X-Plane). Hey, it’s probably just wishful thinking on my end haha XD It would indeed be even better if Carenado just went ahead and let someone else sort out the systems / flight modelling for them, but if they were willing to do that, I guess they would have done so by now ha (someone told me MILVIZ once reached out to Carenado for a collab and Carenado knocked them back!). The Black Square model seems to be working very well, but I am surprised they haven’t done more from scratch (other than the Velocity). It seems what they are doing, results in pretty quick turnarounds though, so I’m all for it! Now we just need someone to come in and “Black Square” the flight models of the Black Square products haha XD All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thx ! Took the risk of swapping GPU to AMD RX 7900 XT, better than I thought. Hasn’t got DLSS but FSR instead. Some tweaking and testing ahead of me. Goal is 4K and 35 FPS, wish me luck !
Haha, 22 degrees is pretty comfortable where I’m from Max (bear in mind that was in Celsius, not Fahrenheit). I am British though, so perhaps what we consider warm, is cold for everyone else XD All the best!
The display can be set to either unit of measurement. By default, the gauge is set to Fahrenheit, but my brain doesn’t work in Fahrenheit, so I went with Celsius XD
Hi Sheldon, I don’t have an answer for you on that per se, only that as mentioned in the video, the customisation of the flight model is fairly modest as compared with the systems overhaul (and Black Square do point this out themselves). It would be great to see a more detailed flight model of course, but that doesn’t seem to be a feature that Black Square are looking to provide. As I said to someone else, I think these products are more ideally suited to those that enjoy their systems simulations, as opposed to those who tend to focus more on the flight model. That’s my take on it anyway haha. Cheers and all the best : )
Exactly Gary; as I understand it (and Just Flight allude to) the model cannot be altered and then sold for commercial gains thereafter. I’m rather intrigued how the addition of tip tanks fits in there, but I guess they’re an “addition” and so perhaps not considered as an alteration strictly. . . I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
Hi RealFluse, The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Happy flying and all the best!
Thanks very much once again True Blade! Apologies for the slow reply; it seems Just Flight had you covered, but I’d estimate that the release date was about a week last Thursday : P Cheers and all the best! : )
I’m afraid I’m not really sure what could be causing that SirGosht. Perhaps it’s a power setting issue, or perhaps you’re coming off the power too quickly and shock-cooling the engine? Perhaps it’s even simply the way the Analogue Bonanza is coded (to simulate wear over time). Good job that they’re only virtual maintenance costs you’re paying for at least ; ) Cheers and all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I cracked it. I was landing with rich mixture, and throttle at idle. That was the issue, and probably it simulated spark plug fouling. This is for the aspirated variant. Thanks for coming back to me! Love the videos.
Where can I buy the Bonanza and also the Baron by BlackSquare? Can't find anything in the store. Is it for Deluxe Edition only maybe? Got the standard.
Hello Würgen, The Black Square products are available from the Just Flight website. Unfortunately, the Analogue Baron does require the deluxe version of the sim, but the Bonanza is of course available to all. I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Hi CTL I'm using TrackIR. My profile is available over on Flightsim.to, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : ) I hope that helps. All the best!
Hi SB, The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve selected as accurately as I can and then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Happy flying and all the best!
Hello, I enjoy your thorough videos and just subscribed to the Channel. I'm a former c206 owner now living in Spain. Are you using XBOX? My current TV has Gamwboz cloud but it doesn't support Joysticks. I te wally don't play any other games. TY in advance.
Hello Jorge, Thank you very much for subscribing, I’m very happy to hear that you’re enjoying the content! I’m on the PC, so don’t really have any experience / knowledge with the Xbox I’m afraid. If I understand correctly, your TV will allow you to run MSFS, but isn’t compatible with a joystick? I’m afraid I’m not really sure how you could work around that. Would your TV likely support some sort of wireless gamepad at least (I think most modern smart TV’s do)? Apologies, but I can’t really offer up more help on that one, not being familiar with the tech myself. I hope you manage to get something figured out and I also hope that Malaga is treating you well! All the best : )
Hello Alex, Pressurisation is certainly an option, if aircraft / pilots want to fly at higher altitudes. Another option is supplemental oxygen (as pilots used during WWII etc) and the Black Square Bonanza does actually model a supplemental oxygen system (which is really nice to see). I hope that clarifies things. Cheers and all the best! : )
My pleasure on the reply, Alex! Essentially, there is an on / off switch for the system and oxygen will deplete when the system is in use. Depletion rate will vary based on altitude, pax number and even the weight of each pax / crew on board haha. Once depleted, the oxygen bottle will need to be refilled and there is associated audio when using the system also - the system is quite well modelled overall. I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
Haha! Damn it. I must have said “King Air” about 100 times during that video, so if I only missed the one instance during editing, I shall consider that a success Rene XD All the best!
Hi SkyPilot, The Black Square addons are available from the Just Flight website (I’m not sure whether they’ve subsequently been made available on the Marketplace, but I doubt the Bonanza has been yet at any rate). I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
Hi Charlie, If you want to use the GTN750, you have 3 options: You can download a freeware GTN750 from PMS, which is compatible with the aircraft, PMS also offer a payware version of the unit, with more functionality etc. The other option (and the option I prefer); you can purchase the GTNXi from TDS. Both options (TDS vs PMS) have their strengths and weaknesses, so if you do plan to purchase, probably worth figuring out which unit best suits your needs. I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
I was very sorry to hear about Matt. I didn’t know him personally or anything, but certainly I used to enjoy some of his videos back in the day. Indeed, may he rest in peace. Blue skies Matt!
This is not meant to be critical but it will probably read that way. I have been flying MSFS 2020 since it was released. When trying to move up to more complex aircraft, it's difficult finding videos and instruction for beginners that are new to that particular aircraft. Most that I watch assume a fairly high level of knowledge in the aircraft that the video is about. The instructions are so "rapid fire" I find myself pausing and unpausing trying to understand what just happened and hoping I can duplicate it. It turns a 52 minute video into an hour and 52 minutes. Back to the 172 I guess.
Hello Edward, Your comment doesn’t come across as critical and I can very much understand where you’re coming from. I can appreciate that it must be a little bit frustrating as a viewer and in an ideal world I would cater my videos to suit everyone, but unfortunately of course that is not possible. I tend to create videos / scenarios that are of interest to me, otherwise the whole creation process can become a bit of a grind. As a result, I tend to enjoy more “advanced” / complex scenarios, as I have been simming / flying for many years at this point. My channel tends to cater more towards “seasoned” simmers, but of course all are welcome! The above being said, I did create a beginners series some time ago (it’s old content, so you have to forgive it being a little more “rough around the edges” haha), so perhaps you might get some value out of that. I did plan to continue the series, but unfortunately there didn’t seem to be much interest in it: ua-cam.com/play/PLaI08doFZ-LIK-PAyRGF7NDZDM88FpOVp.html There are some other great UA-cam vids / tutorials out there also, Jonathan Beckett does a lot of basic startup tutorials for example. I hope that clarifies things a little. Thanks for your feedback and all the best! : )
It should be able to TB, although I can’t say I’ve actually tried. I didn’t test the ILS functionality because 1) the aircraft if fitted with a KAP140 autopilot, which would strongly suggest that it is capable of flying the ILS (since the KAP140 has an APR mode) 2) the flight didn’t call for an ILS and 3) personally, I don’t consider a coupled ILS capability, to be all that basic / essential on a GA aircraft - most GA aircraft I’ve ever flown, have not had such capabilities. I simply can’t cover every aspect of an addon, so I tend to cover what I find during the course of a “typical” flight ; ) I hope that makes sense. All the best!
@IntotheBlueSimulations Hmm... its just I've been having issues, with ILS approaches with all my BS planes. The InOp GPS/Appr button doesn't help either... and they have them in every one.
Hmm, that’s interesting, as you aren’t the first person I’ve heard that from. I’ve never had any issues myself (at least no more so than is typical in MSFS), so I wonder what could be making the difference (hardware setup perhaps). . . The aircraft won’t track the glide properly, or you’re having issues capturing the LOC?
Hi tk, I don’t believe so I’m afraid, no. So far as I am aware, the Black Square products are only available directly from the Just Flight website, therefore only available to PC users currently. I’m not sure whether that may change though, since the WASM coding issues have now been fixed up on the console. Sorry I can’t offer anything more “concrete” on that one. Cheers and all the best! : )
It does indeed MB! There are better addons out there when it comes to flight modelling etc, but if one is more of a “systems guy” (as a number of simmers tend to be), Black Square’s products are pretty hard to beat - and the Bonanza still flies nicely at any rate. I haven’t actually had a chance to purchase the addon yet myself, but will be doing so for sure! Cheers : )
It's a pity you think the default is in a bad way, I love flying the default Bonanza but quite clearly as a casual simmer with light systems use I'm not looking at this thing in anywhere near the scrutiny a real pilot would look at. Hopefully all the issues you found with the default have been raised as Zendesk tickets and are with the Asobo team to address.
Horses for courses David. You're right the original is fine and works great for a lot of people. Others hanker after that extra level of reality and complexity more akin to the real thing. This is aimed at those folks really. The default in your eyes works nicely and that's all that's important really.
Hello David, I wonder whether this comment was supposed to be aimed at someone else, rather than myself? Personally, I think the default aircraft have their place and I don’t really recall saying anything too derogatory regarding the default Bonanza during the review haha? I do much prefer the Analogue Bonanza, as I enjoy the systems depth and the steam gauges, but I enjoy cruising in some of the default aircraft from time to time also : ) All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations thanks, mine was a silly comment really picking up on your reference about the default being in a bad way. I wouldn't say it's bad for somebody like me who dabbles but doesnt use every system, it's just a bit limited but that also makes it more accessible for casual flyers.
I didn’t think it was a silly comment David, I just wonder whether you got my video mixed up with someone else’s - I don’t recall saying anything derogatory about the default Bonanza haha? If I did, that wasn’t my intention at any rate; as I say, both aircraft (default and Black Square) have their place in the sim : ) I hope that clarifies things. Cheers!
Hi Anjinsan, From memory, I believe the Analog Bonanza retails at £25. You should be able to find the pricing details over on the Just Flight website. I hope that helps. All the best!
What's with the voice? I had some pause with this channel, but the man behind the video now sound completely different from the man in some previous videos (this one i.e. - ua-cam.com/video/KxpIWDITLmI/v-deo.html)
Haha, well it’s definitely still me / the same person, t3hav8r! XD I did purchase a new mic a few months ago, so that probably accounts for the change you have noticed. Welcome back! : )
Well, closer to £25, as Just Flight point out SD. I know that sounds like a lot, given that it’s “only” an upgrade of a default aircraft; I was quite sceptical of the pricing when I first came across Black Square products also, but in my opinion (and as I hope I have demonstrated during the video), I actually think the packages are well worth the price. Of course there are certain areas that I would ideally like to see improved further, but the Black Square Analogue series has some of the best systems / failure modelling I have seen from an addon, so for those simmers who are more into their systems (as opposed to flight models), I don’t think too many will be disappointed by the Steam Gauge Overhaul series! I hope that clarifies things a little. Cheers and all the best : )
I know, I know, absolutely outrageous! I trust you’ll be lodging a formal complaint with the Flight Simulation Content Creators Guild? XD From what I’ve seen of Black Square’s Analogue series to date, I’ve no doubt the Baron is going to be a corker also! Double the engines though, so it might take me even longer to cover : P Cheers!
Haha, oh god! XD To be fair, I’ve actually only ever had nice encounters on Reddit (granted I’ve only spent time on the flight sim forums), which is more than I can say about the rest of the internet haha. I managed to get around any CO2 poisoning; if the engines aren’t running, there aren’t any CO2 issues : P
That ATC audio does sound good. What add-on is being used for that (sorry if I missed it!)?
EDIT: Nevermind, saw answer in another post.
Report back please!
Must pick it up, sounds good 👍
@@CCitis absolutely phenomenal. Almost nothing bad to say about it. Exactly what I would expect from the real life counterpart (minus some slow speed characteristics, but that could easily be down to the sim rather than Black Square)
I just upgraded irl to a G5 stack with a GFC500 in my Bonanza and it's a whole different airplane. If you can it's worth the upgrade.
@@pdw111686 I’ve got plans for a GTN750 soon, but $17.5k isn’t an easy bill to swallow
Thanks a lot for this nice and informatieve video. Good teacher good lesson.
No doubt you have but just in case have you tried the JPL152 mod? It’s absolutely wonderful! Bagolu 172 mods too!
@Macko yes you're absolutely right, I have them both, and they're brilliant.
I know this puts you on the spot somewhat, yet I trust your judgement.
Haha, well it was actually intended as more of a “throwaway” comment Chris, merely stating that there are better flight models out there XD
Since you ask though; the king is *obviously* the HPG Hot Air Balloon, but other addons worthy of mention:
- Fenix A320 is still the best handling jet in my opinion
- FlyInside Bell 47 seems like the most convincing heli
- The Got Friends Wilga is probably one of the best SEP’s currently
- FlyingIron Hellcat for the best warbird
- MILVIZ C310 for the twins (though it’s very hard to pick apart from the C414).
Hence why I know when the PMDG 777 releases I'm going to get divorced 😁
Right I'm off to buy the Black Square Bonanza 👍 Cheers for the help buddy.
A perfect demonstration of how to fly an IFR. Not much of a fan of the plane but have changed my mind after this perfect flight. Black Square added to that decision, the route's not too shabby either. As always educational & professional. Cheers, Captain
Thanks very much Conleth! Whilst I wouldn’t profess that the flight was perfect hehe (what flight ever is), I certainly thoroughly enjoyed accomplishing this route in the Bonanza (the route is well worth a try, even if you’re on the fence regarding the A36 ; )
My pleasure as always! Many thanks once again : )
@Into the Blue Simulations Cheers, mate. Have a good one 👍
Just bought this module. Quickly becoming my favorite to fly. The sound and autopilot implementations are the best in the game IMO.
I’m really glad you’re enjoying the aircraft, Roger! The Black Square Bonanza is indeed a superb product. Happy flying and all the best! : )
Appropriately, ‘Bonanza’ - the American Western television series that ran on NBC from 1959, to 1973, set in the 1860s and which centres on the wealthy Cartwright family, who live in the vicinity of Virginia City, Nevada, bordering Lake Tahoe. The term ‘bonanza’ derived from the Spanish, & arose from discovery of the 1859 silver lode located near Lake Tahoe 😅 The Beechcraft Bonanza has now operated longer than the show but type featured the occasional moral quandary as per the show’s trope as well as dependable values ;) and more variant updates than the 1962 Johnny Cash rewrite version of the musical theme of the TV show 😂
Haha, well there you go Tom! I accidentally made more of a tie-in than I realised XD
Cheers for the info, all the best! : )
Great review as always. Thanks also for showcasing the use of the included and add on navigation aids on this trip, that was something of a masterclass. Best wishes!
Thanks very much once again Terry!
My pleasure; I thought it was about time I finally learnt how to use that RNAV unit XD
Hopefully, I should have a Baron video out within a couple of days (unsurprisingly, it’s another excellent offering from Black Square).
Another super demo by a seasoned professional. I noted down all the helpfully provided power settings.,thank you.
I am all too familiar with flying in this area. I learned to fly in Reno and Minden. Good video!
Ah very nice Keith! Looks like a beautiful part of the world to learn to fly in (might be a bit more pleasant still in the summer haha).
I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )
You are an amazing pilot. What a smooth landing.
Haha, well thank you very much SadSky, I try my best! : D
Much appreciated. Cheers!
Much appreciated : )
All the best!
You gotta love those moments into MSFS. 25:57
Beautiful vid and awesome aircraft
Hi Redtail,
I don't think I've ever actually flown an LDA in anger.
XD
Cheers and all the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations haha I forget sometimes as well, until it quickly annoys the hell out of me, lol. I notice some sim pilots flying entire flights with the darn thing on 😂
Entertaining. Educational. And most important: Inspiring for serious simmers.
An aircraft mod I could killed for a couple of years ago. - Now it show the increased standard in MSFS. Probably purchase among other excellent aircraft.
Pure gold from both Black Square and Into the Blue Simulations.
My thoughts exactly! Black Square is really separating the serious simmers from the eye candy generation.
Hi Ben,
Thank you very much for the kind words once again!
I’ve never used one before (either in a sim, or in the real world) and if I’d tried to go into any more depth, I would have absolutely fallen into the category of “pretending to know what to do” XD
The same is true with the mixture leaning to a certain degree.
I managed to shut down an engine inadvertently just the once (I pulled the throttle back too far, before the engine had a chance to warm up properly), luckily I was still on the ground, but it did happen right in front of the tower, so that was rather embarrassing XD
Thanks very much once again! All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks for the long reply, nothing serious happened there when one engine stopped running, in happened in the flare (so on taxi in i pretended to save fuel on one engine....life is all about pretending things isn't it?...)🤣🤣
Subbed. By far the best FS channel around. No tiresome 'persona', just great knowledge and fabulous video production.
Thank you very much for the kind words, Droge - much appreciated! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the content : )
Many thanks for the sub and welcome aboard!
Always big thank you for your professionalism!
Thank you very much for the kind words OGP. My absolute pleasure on the video, I’m glad you enjoyed it! : )
The Bonanza looks and behaves so realistically. It looks like what I would expect if I were sitting in the aircraft.
The flight looks like the snowstorm I drove through over last Christmas in Western New York.
Watching your videos makes me realise I know nothing about Navigation! Nice video!
Nice vid....am in love with kns 81
Cheers Jep, glad you enjoyed it!
This was actually my first time putting the KNS81 to use, but it seems like a very interesting piece of kit and I’m sure could make for some interesting flights in the future (I had thought about doing a video on point to point navigation - the KNS81 would certainly make that much easier haha : P )
All the best! : )
Great video, Great plane! Thanks for posting! Also looking forward to the Baron!
Thanks very much Martin! I completely agree regarding the Bonanza and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’m very much looking forward to the Baron also.
Cheers and all the best! : )
You set the bar for 3rd party reviews, thank you for not just being another marketing preview.
Haha, I’ve always thought the same; wing tip tanks somehow make an aircraft look more serious, sort of like “go faster stripes” on a car I suppose haha ; )
I hope you’re having a great weekend! Cheers : )
I wish Blacksquare would extend their advanced systems modelling to the modern glass versions as well. Simply release a version of their updates without the analogue gauges and uses the modern default setup of the cockpit, but with all the functionality they added here.
Rumor has it they are thinking about doing this.
Hi Quoten,
I had a similar conversation with someone, back when Black Square first came out with the King Air overhaul. It certainly seems like a reasonable path to take and would no doubt broaden the appeal of Black Square’s excellent work further (especially now the default Garmin avionics have been much improved). Going off Toby’s comment, perhaps we will see exactly that. . .
Cheers, all the best! : )
Can’t wait for the Baron
Likewise Managed! I suspect the Baron is going to be another top notch effort : )
All the best!
I'm surprised MSFS didn't ice you up immediately. Everytime I'm near clouds in below freezing temps I get ice so quickly.
Awesome video. You make flying so easy! Fabulous plane by Black Square. Will be a purchase for me.
Haha, well thank you very much for the kind words DP, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! I do hope you’re enjoying the Bonanza also, if you ended up picking it up.
Happy flying and all the best! : )
Thank You for some good content I needed to get to Lake Tahoo. Thank You
Haha. You should have said Mike, I could have taken you along for the ride! ; )
My pleasure as always! Cheers : )
of course a Beechcraft Bonanza 35 was there on Feb 3, 1959: “The Day The Music Died".
Yeah unfortunately that was a prime example of the Bonanza not being rated for icing.
Today I returned to the 36 after mostly flying the Commie for the last couple of months.
What a blast this airplane is!!
Thanks for a very helpful review. I'm looking forward to the Baron, one of my favorites in the sim.
That's a nice looking plane mate.
The Bonanza is indeed a very nice effort from Black Square : )
Cheers Alex, all the best!
I wish the sun visors were functional, very informative video
They are in all of Black Square's aircraft.
Hi Tony,
I didn’t actually try the sun visors myself (Toby would seem to suggest that they do work), but it is a shame certain details aren’t modelled on the aircraft - doors being the big one obviously; I completely understand that certain elements are beyond Black Square’s control, but the addons are *so* good otherwise, that these sort of details just seem a shame haha. Nevertheless, I’ve really been enjoying Black Square’s output to date.
I’m very glad you felt the video was useful. Thanks very much and all the best! : )
I like this plane model, especially bec it has analog instruments. It flies nicely and fast.
I love watching you fly. You make it all look so simple. What scenery are you using? Everything looked so good. The slight snow and the over cast. Even the airports looks great with that pickup there at the end.
Thanks very much TK421, I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight! I try and put in a proficient effort where I can, though sometimes it does feel a little more “hectic” behind the scenes haha ; )
The scenery was pretty much all default, just using the USA World Update (which provides the hand-crafted versions of Reno / Lake Tahoe).
Haha, clearly I have the magic touch TY! ; )
I can’t speak for the Bonanza, but certainly some piston engined aircraft can be a little bit tricky to get started, particularly when they’re cold.
It seems the trick is to count 1-2-3 on the hi fuel pump verrrrry slowwwwlllly.
Cheers : )
I really need to update my graphics card. This looks stunning
Hi Andrea,
My pleasure on the video, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Love this. Interestingly, you say the model is the same, but those tip tanks weren’t there in the asobo iirc.
Don’t get me wrong, in real-world IFR conditions, I’d take the Garmin units every time haha, but steam gauges have so much more character and certainly in the sim, they are my preferred option every time ; )
Catch you on the next one! All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations oh absolutely captain Ted I would put want anything these days other than Garmin GPS systems but back in the day and I know you come from back a little bit to the analog systems were the only way that we can navigate DMA’S HSI‘s I mean that’s how we lived, but it’s almost like going back to windows that winked but DOS as a networking system for the Internet, or you’ve got mail AOL it’s hard to jump forward and then fall back
I would love a G3X overhaul of the savage cub!
Hi AV8R,
Going off Black Square’s other efforts to date, I’d pretty much take anything they can give us haha. A Cub would be brilliant, although I’d prefer one with a little more vintage myself ; )
Cheers, all the best!
I would imagine the Bonanza to have a bit more “get up and go” than an Arrow, but it probably shouldn’t be doing a cat launch as you describe ; )
Thanks again! : )
No need to lean on the ground. The IO 550 has an altitude compensating pump.
Apologies as I'm sure this question is addressed somewhere, but what ATC audio software are you using?
it's just audio recordings of ATC added to the video in editing.
Hi John,
As en0n helpfully points out, the ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )
I hope that helps. Happy flying and all the best!
I notice the MP pressure gauge fluctuating abruptly on the ground... Why is that?
Hi Jeremy,
I’m not 100% sure on that one myself. I did notice the fluctuations; either it’s a bug or, given that the engine is turbo-normalised, perhaps the fluctuations are caused by the turbo building up pressure and then a waste gate kicking in. That was my guess anyway, but I could be completely wrong haha XD
Cheers, all the best!
another great vid !
Thanks very much Brett, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! : )
All the best!
Probably running accuseasons.
Hi Sean,
Thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
What ATC add on did you use for the sim. Can't find the reply in the other chat.
Hi Jeff,
The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )
I hope that helps. Cheers and all the best!
1. How it it on th FPS vs the default ?
2. Which one of the Blacksquare planes are the most enjoyable? =)
3. Is that GPS coming with the game?
4. Default sounds, MSFS shaking etc (not FSR) ?
Hi RYMD,
Did anybody else as a kid think that the tip tanks made the plane look faster or was that just me?
Haha, I still think that now XD
I don’t know what it is about tip tanks exactly, but they make an aircraft look more “sporty” somehow. I guess they are the “go faster stripes” of the aviation world haha.
All the best! : )
Would love a full tutorial on the fuel computer!
I second this! The overview on Just Flights' channel is a good start, though. Still learning it myself. I love that you can get the real manuals.
Hi Brooks,
Apologies for the slow reply. It is indeed the default Bonanza, with only the Black Square mod installed (although the two aircraft will show up as separate options within the sim).
I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
What 750 Garmin mod do you have? Mine doesnt have weather and stuff
Hi Ben,
I’m using the TDS Garmin GTNXi. If you’re using the same addon, make sure you are running the most up to date version (TDS added the weather functionality some time ago).
I hope that helps a little? All the best! : )
Thanks for another comprehensive tutorial! Much appreciated... 😊👍🏻
Noting the Navigraph moving map on your charts in the TDS GTNXi - is that set that up in the TDS software or do you have to provide your Navigraph credentials for each aircraft with the TDS option?
What was the navigation system you used and where can I get it from please
Hi Bob,
I was using the TDS Garmin GTNXi, available for purchase from the TDS website.
21:30 Is there an unwritten rule that air traffic communication must be practically incomprehensible?
Haha! Just wait until you hear a call communicated over HF radio, Macko! XD
Haha I wouldn’t have a chance of understanding it I bet 😂
Nobody does, haha! XD
Would appreciate it if you could do a tutorial on the PMS 750.
Hi Jress,
I’m afraid I’m not really the man for that job.
Hi IBS, just wondering. Are all your flights so far using TrackIr on screen? Do you post videos if flights while you VR?
Hi Gervan,
All of my flights / videos to date have been using TrackIR. I have just purchased a new PC though, so if I can find an acceptable solution for recording, I may look at some VR content also : )
I hope that clarifies things. All the best!
Great video! I have a question though? How did you determine that based on a ground speed of 180, you would need 2.5 nm out to turn on final? Is there a formula that applies to this, and if so, how is that different if your turn is less than 90 degrees? Much appreciated!
Hi FBG,
Good question!
You’re most welcome! Best of luck with it : )
Couple of questions... why does this have an aileron trim whereas the Arrows do not ?
Also, whi is not IFR certified ?
Thanks.
Hi TB,
I don’t know if there are any aerodynamic reasons as to why the Bonanza has aileron trim (probably not), but I’d be inclined to say that such things are almost like having optional extras on a car; aileron trim can be nice to have, but of course it comes at a financial cost, as well as adding weight and complexity to the aircraft etc.
Cheers! : )
Buying this today. 😊
I do hope you’re enjoying it then, sir! : )
How do you get live atc streaming?
Hi Misanthrope,
The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )
I hope that helps. Happy flying and all the best!
Your Videos... Top Notch!
Thank you sir!b:)
Thank you very much Tekniker, very kind of you to say : )
My absolute pleasure and all the best to you!
I really want Black Square to do an aircraft of this quality, but for a V-tail V36... that'd be perfect.
Streaky! I hope it’s going well good sir : )
I was actually saying to someone else just the other day, I do hope Black Square can figure out some way of working with the Carenado products (the V-tail Bonanza included). Carenado’s visuals and Black Square’s systems depth, could make for a formidable combination!
Cheers and all the best!
All good thanks! Hopefully likewise for yourself :)
That would be excellent if Black Square did do something with the Carenado stuff, but I think they're likely to focus on aircraft already in the base game.
(Or with any other company that makes visually decent, but systems depth lacking aircraft)
I think, given what they've achieved modifying what already exists, I'd bet if they were given a totally free hand to build from scratch the output would be excellent!
Yes, all good here thanks!
I’m not so sure haha : P
Given that Black Square just did the Baron, an aircraft which many people don’t own, I could see them taking on some payware aircraft also. Hey, it’s probably just wishful thinking on my end haha XD
It would indeed be even better if Carenado just went ahead and let someone else sort out the systems / flight modelling for them, but if they were willing to do that, I guess they would have done so by now ha (someone told me MILVIZ once reached out to Carenado for a collab and Carenado knocked them back!).
The Black Square model seems to be working very well, but I am surprised they haven’t done more from scratch (other than the Velocity). It seems what they are doing, results in pretty quick turnarounds though, so I’m all for it! Now we just need someone to come in and “Black Square” the flight models of the Black Square products haha XD
All the best! : )
Nice ! Should get :)
It is indeed another very nice effort from Black Square, Ronnie. If you did pick up the Bonanza, I do hope you’re enjoying it!
Happy flying : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thx ! Took the risk of swapping GPU to AMD RX 7900 XT, better than I thought. Hasn’t got DLSS but FSR instead. Some tweaking and testing ahead of me. Goal is 4K and 35 FPS, wish me luck !
Haha, best of luck Ronnie! How’s it been working out?
Your cabin temperature was kept pretty low during that flight ;) freezing pilot!
Haha, 22 degrees is pretty comfortable where I’m from Max (bear in mind that was in Celsius, not Fahrenheit). I am British though, so perhaps what we consider warm, is cold for everyone else XD
All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I thought that was in Fahrenheit!
The display can be set to either unit of measurement. By default, the gauge is set to Fahrenheit, but my brain doesn’t work in Fahrenheit, so I went with Celsius XD
Why can't they get the basic performance right? Over double the correct climb rate there
Hi Sheldon,
I don’t have an answer for you on that per se, only that as mentioned in the video, the customisation of the flight model is fairly modest as compared with the systems overhaul (and Black Square do point this out themselves).
Is it some sort of payware licensing limitation to not have opening doors? Because the Bagolu C172 improvement mod added opening doors.
The developer can't touch the original Asobo model. Not allowed, we're not sure why other mods have the ability to do this.
Where do you get your atc recordings?
Hi RealFluse,
The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )

Great vid as always.
Any idea on release day ? Months or weeks ?
Today.
Thanks very much once again True Blade!
Apologies for the slow reply; it seems Just Flight had you covered, but I’d estimate that the release date was about a week last Thursday : P
Cheers and all the best! : )
Struggling with this a bit - each time just before landing my engine takes 1% damage... No clue what I'm doing wrong here.
Good job that they’re only virtual maintenance costs you’re paying for at least ; )
Cheers and all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I cracked it. I was landing with rich mixture, and throttle at idle. That was the issue, and probably it simulated spark plug fouling. This is for the aspirated variant. Thanks for coming back to me! Love the videos.
Glad you got things figured out : )
My pleasure on the reply and indeed the videos. Cheers!
Where can I buy the Bonanza and also the Baron by BlackSquare? Can't find anything in the store. Is it for Deluxe Edition only maybe? Got the standard.
Hello Würgen,
The Black Square products are available from the Just Flight website. Unfortunately, the Analogue Baron does require the deluxe version of the sim, but the Bonanza is of course available to all.
I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Thanks alot, guess I‘ll pick up the Bonanza then.
Clear prop!
You’re most welcome Würgen! I do hope you’re enjoying the Bonanza. Happy flying and all the best : )
Are you using track ir or tobi? If t ir, could you share your settings?
Hi CTL
I'm using TrackIR. My profile is available over on Flightsim.to, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : )

Hello, I enjoy your thorough videos and just subscribed to the Channel. I'm a former c206 owner now living in Spain. Are you using XBOX?
My current TV has Gamwboz cloud but it doesn't support Joysticks. I te wally don't play any other games. TY in advance.
Hello Jorge,
Thank you very much for subscribing, I’m very happy to hear that you’re enjoying the content!

Over altitude 10k, wouldn't you need to pressurise the cabin?
Hello Alex,
Pressurisation is certainly an option, if aircraft / pilots want to fly at higher altitudes. Another option is supplemental oxygen (as pilots used during WWII etc) and the Black Square Bonanza does actually model a supplemental oxygen system (which is really nice to see).
I hope that clarifies things. Cheers and all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations thanks for your reply. How does it model the supplementary? Is it an automatic feature
1m30....King Air...😁
How's the King Air vs the Bonanza from what you have seen (or played) ?
Haha! Damn it. I must have said “King Air” about 100 times during that video, so if I only missed the one instance during editing, I shall consider that a success Rene XD

is this plane available now from the market place thanks
Hi SkyPilot,
The Black Square addons are available from the Just Flight website (I’m not sure whether they’ve subsequently been made available on the Marketplace, but I doubt the Bonanza has been yet at any rate).
I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )

You’re welcome! : )
How do you get the GTN 750 to work?
You download the free one but his is different. They have it on their FAQ
Hi Charlie,
If you want to use the GTN750, you have 3 options: You can download a freeware GTN750 from PMS, which is compatible with the aircraft, PMS also offer a payware version of the unit, with more functionality etc. The other option (and the option I prefer); you can purchase the GTNXi from TDS. Both options (TDS vs PMS) have their strengths and weaknesses, so if you do plan to purchase, probably worth figuring out which unit best suits your needs.
I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
Thanks for offering up the help Ben, much appreciated! : )

Would you share the checklist
Hi JR,
This was the checklist that I used: cassidys.ca/flying/Forms_Checklists/cklist_pilot.PDF
I hope that helps. All the best! : )
Hello Edward,
Your comment doesn’t come across as critical and I can very much understand where you’re coming from.
I did plan to continue the series, but unfortunately there didn’t seem to be much interest in it:
ua-cam.com/play/PLaI08doFZ-LIK-PAyRGF7NDZDM88FpOVp.html
There are some other great UA-cam vids / tutorials out there also, Jonathan Beckett does a lot of basic startup tutorials for example.
I hope that clarifies things a little. Thanks for your feedback and all the best! : )
but now working doors or hatches, huh?
Does this fly a full ILS approach ?
Pretty basic really. Yet you never seem to test this
It should be able to TB, although I can’t say I’ve actually tried.
I simply can’t cover every aspect of an addon, so I tend to cover what I find during the course of a “typical” flight ; )
I hope that makes sense. All the best!
@IntotheBlueSimulations
Hmm... its just I've been having issues, with ILS approaches with all my BS planes.
Is it available on the Xbox?
Hi tk,
I don’t believe so I’m afraid, no.
This looks to tick a lot of boxes.
Hello David,
I wonder whether this comment was supposed to be aimed at someone else, rather than myself? Personally, I think the default aircraft have their place and I don’t really recall saying anything too derogatory regarding the default Bonanza during the review haha? I do much prefer the Analogue Bonanza, as I enjoy the systems depth and the steam gauges, but I enjoy cruising in some of the default aircraft from time to time also : )
All the best!
If I did, that wasn’t my intention at any rate; as I say, both aircraft (default and Black Square) have their place in the sim : )
I hope that clarifies things. Cheers!
Blacksq. Cost?
Hi Anjinsan,
From memory, I believe the Analog Bonanza retails at £25.
XD
I did purchase a new mic a few months ago, so that probably accounts for the change you have noticed. Welcome back! : )
Is it really £30?
£24.99
I had to wait a whole hour just to get an opinion!
Not really interested in the Bonanza, but this is looking very prromising for the Baron.
I thought you were more into red biplanes.
I know, I know, absolutely outrageous! I trust you’ll be lodging a formal complaint with the Flight Simulation Content Creators Guild? XD
From what I’ve seen of Black Square’s Analogue series to date, I’ve no doubt the Baron is going to be a corker also! Double the engines though, so it might take me even longer to cover : P
Cheers!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Worse, Reddit!
The Baron apparently simulates CO poisoning, I'll expect a full review of that feature.
Haha, oh god! XD
To be fair, I’ve actually only ever had nice encounters on Reddit (granted I’ve only spent time on the flight sim forums), which is more than I can say about the rest of the internet haha.
I managed to get around any CO2 poisoning; if the engines aren’t running, there aren’t any CO2 issues : P
Radar pod on the Bonanza wing is disgusting.
Haha, I rather agree GP - aesthetically it is pretty unpleasant to say the least! XD
NOT STUDY
What makes you say that ENJJPT? The flight model isn’t study level, but I think the systems absolutely are.
