I went to Vallarta in 2020 and had a great time. I met a few Americans living out there and I was floored at the low cost of living. I met a retired Marine who said he lived comfortably in a 2 bedroom gated condo, 3 miles from the beach with the his retirement money vs not even being able to rent a DAMN CLOSET in the Bay Area where he is from!😆 I'm originallly from El Salvador and have lived stateside since 1984, I would consider retiring in Mexico vs the US. It just makes financial sense. Not to mention Mexico is beautiful!

We were fortunate enough to get a 2bd, 2 bath luxury apartment in 5 December area with ocean views for $700/month! BUT owner reduced price from 1,200 to 700 bc some unlicensed builder thinks he’s gong to build right in front of our building which would block our view from living room balcony. SOMEBODY IS FIGHTING THIS so it hasn’t gone up yet and IT’S BEEN TWO YEARS so we don’t know what’s going to happen! Even if it blocks our view, we have a view from master bedroom balcony and ROOFTOP VIEW WITH A DIPPING POOL IS TO DIE FOR!!!! ALL UTILITIES INCLUDED EXCEPT ELECTRIC.
It is a very very good price for PV. I will be sharing more videos about renting 1BR apartments here for more budget friendly prices. Thanks for watching my UA-cam videos 😊
I’d love a video on what a $3000 rental in PV looks like, that seems incredibly steep, no matter if it’s Mexico. I think a person could easily find something for half that rental price and ditch the car rental (most seasoned expats use Uber ) and do PV easily for half what you’re doing. Although if you’re way out from downtown or romantic district, yes, you need some transportation to get anywhere.
Absolutely Tony, you can live comfortably here under $2000 US a month. My last video is showing my weekly expenses now as I moved to different town. Thank you for watching:)))

Thanks for breaking everything down so well. As someone who is also 60 years old and about to retire in Mexico, I have been getting quotes on health/medical insurance. For people our age it can run anywhere from approx. $60 per month (if you join the Mexican system) to $300 plus per month (very high quality private care). I noticed you did not mention that as an expense. Are you covered through a benefit plan from a former employer or are you just taking a chance that you will not need extensive medical care while in Mexico?
I talked to a guy who’s been coming to PV for years, six months at a time, and he said you can get med insurance for 6,500 pesos PER YEAR for PRIVATE INSURANCE! IMSS (govt system) is FREE, NOT $60/month!!!! So who should you believe?
@@vickiladu6755 Hi Vicki. Thanks for that. I believe you are somewhat correct but just want to clear up somethings. IMSS is "public" insurance in the sense that it is really meant for Mexican workers that work for companies. However, expats can buy into it if they do not have certain preexisting conditions. Premiums are based on age. I believe for those around 60 it works out to about $50 to $60 US per month. The care is acceptable by Mexican standards but more often than not doctors, nurses etc... may not speak English. INSABI is the government system and it is indeed totally free to everyone, Mexicans and expats alike. Care is VERY basic and sometimes certain medications may be in short supply. There is another plan that anyone working for the Mexican government can be covered under but not open to expats. I forget the abbreviation for it. Many Mexican private plans are available with a wide range of options, some more reputable than others. Lastly, there are international plans, but they are super expensive.
What about monthly rental for average1BR or Studio apartment/house? Can you live in PV with $1300 CAD / month without the car rental? Inclusive of housing, food and utilities. Thanks!
Hi Davis! 1 BR apartment 10-15 min walk to the beach is about $400-500 CAN . In low season from May to October you can rent one BR right on the beach for $400 US . The rest of the money of your budget is enough to live in PV 😊
Great video thanks, but the rental is so high...made me think, can't you get a mortgage instead and own eventually a property. It seems you throw away 3000 $ per month, while you could pay that to own a property..any thoughts, I would appreciate, as I am thinking to retire also in Mexico and spend 6 months in Canada and the rest in Mexico. thanks.
Hola Zinnober I rent out and Airbnb my properties here, and the cash flow allows me to live in different areas and travel to explore more of Mexico:))) Thanks for watching my video:)))😍
Hi, thanks for your cheery and fun video! Your rent is the most expensive by far, I'd love to see your place, to see what you can get for $3k a month - this price seems incredibly expensive, I'm hoping your place on the beach is amazing!!! That ks again!
Hola Capri there is a link to see the place I was renting in February ua-cam.com/video/kGXAg1gzLpY/v-deo.html. For high season it was a low price for a big house right on the beach. I moved to the apartment now and pay much less, so it’s a lot of different options here . Thank you for watching my UA-cam channel:)
Your welcome Capri ! I am renting now a very modern apartment and the rent is much more affordable $1000 a month all utilities are included. I am sharing more info about cheaper rentals here in PV:) stay tuned and thank you for watching:)
Great video! You explain very well, and you look so happy. As far as transportation, here in the U.S., the e-bike industry is exploding. People are using e-bikes in place of their cars. Are e-bikes an option for transportation?

Thank so much great video. Little about myself, I live in Canada and looking at retirement in Jan 2024 from Canadian Miltary with 31yrs of service I will be 51yrs old. During pandemic especially this past summer I am very seriously looking to move to PV Mexico full-time after my retirement maybe sooner than 2024. I've been very fortunate I purchased my first house 4yrs after being in Forcses and being moved I am on my 5th house. So when I retire and sell my house I will have a nice little nest egg funds $, also including my pension. I LOVED YOUR BREAK DOWN OF THE COST if or when I decide I think I should be able to purchase nice little condo/house being mortgage free and live off my pension. I failed to mention I have been to PV three times I love it. My plane this Dec to rent a place for 2 weeks and get real feel about retirement. I have research about full-time residents but need to ask how it affects my pension and I joined Facebook group veterans expats. Thank you for the video Charles King
@@LarissaSokla thx for replying quickly it's appreciated enjoy life I'm 65 and on a military pension thinking about 6 months Mexico 6 months Chicago area.
$3000 canadian is around $2300 USD a month for rents more expensive than the USA. But of course not on the beach. Wonder why it's so much? I've seen other videos of very nice luxury apartments in nice parts of Mexico for $400=$750 USD a month. But thanks for the video.
I like your video. The rent is pretty expenisive. Are there places you can rent for say $300 (can) a month? Being on a pension limits my spending. Being ble to enjoy life with year round summer would be awesome.
Hola. Yes of course you can find a place to rent much much cheaper, $300-400 US a month plus utilities, which is not much , less than $20-30 a month. I am renting a modern 2BD apartment in NV now for a very budget friendly price. Stay tuned for my next Tuesday video . Thank you for watching my UA-cam channel:))

Hey great video! Did you say you moved there or just vacationing? I've been wanting to get down there but had some health problems and then Covid came along. So how is the virus in PV? You aren't wearing a mask! I have heard you can rent a car in Mexico for $5 a day. Maybe in different areas. Thanks for the informative video.
I am travelling in Mexico for now, will see what happened later on 😊 I have a mask on when shopping . About the rent price, PV is a touristic place and because of that it’s pricey for everything. Stay tuned for up coming videos about different cities in Mexico. Thanks for watching my videos Francis!!:)
Hello from Toronto. I’m a new viewer. Loved this video but 3K for rent is a bit steep. Have you done videos on cheaper accommodations in your area? Thanks

I had fun on timeshare presentation, they tried to sell you guaranteed reserved vacation in different places around the world, . The total price was about $20000 US, you can pay at once or instalment payments and after that annual payments of $400US. They were very pushy but it’s hard to push Russian (I am born and raised in Moscow Russia) so I won, $3000 MEX back !!! That was my experience. .... thanks for watching 💥😊

I am single and 68 y/o and will be moving to Puerta Vallarta in June. I'd like to know if it's easy to find people of similar age to socialize with there? Is there a community center, etc.?
Hi Andrea! Yes, I am currently renting the house for $3000 CAN but there are another options to rent places for less money. I have a video about it. Also you can rent the place for $500-600 , but you need a bit time to connect to local people, lots of Americans and Canadians live here and they will help you out.
I’m still covered by medical insurance I bought in Canada but I will look for the new one here in Mexico. Thanks for watching my videos Michael :)
Very informative vlog, thank you so much for sharing.
I am glad you like it Kazzy , thank you for your feedback 😊
What about monthly rental for average1BR or Studio apartment/house? Can you live in PV with $1300 CAD / month without the car rental? Inclusive of housing, food and utilities. Thanks!
Hi Davis!
1 BR apartment 10-15 min walk to the beach is about $400-500 CAN . In low season from May to October you can rent one BR right on the beach for $400 US . The rest of the money of your budget is enough to live in PV 😊
@@LarissaSokla Thanks much for the info. Stay safe! Cheers!
First time watching your videos, and very informative 👍
Thank you Luis for watching my videos and I am happy to hear that my videos are helpful and informative:)))
Great video thanks, but the rental is so high...made me think, can't you get a mortgage instead and own eventually a property. It seems you throw away 3000 $ per month, while you could pay that to own a property..any thoughts, I would appreciate, as I am thinking to retire also in Mexico and spend 6 months in Canada and the rest in Mexico. thanks.
Hola Zinnober
I rent out and Airbnb my properties here, and the cash flow allows me to live in different areas and travel to explore more of Mexico:))) Thanks for watching my video:)))😍
WOW, YOU ARE A BLEESSED AND VERY INTELLIGENT WOMAN , I WILL FOLLOW YOUR EXAMPLE
Thank you for your kind words Nelly! Thank you for watching my UA-cam video:))
@@LarissaSokla thank you so much!!! I really appreciate you passing the link along, you are such a helpful advocate!!
Hola John, yes e-bikes are available here. Personally I prefer regular bike:) Thanks for watching my UA-cam channel 😊

Thank you for the video

Hi Charles!
I will be making more videos about renting 1,2 BR apartments here in PV . You have a good retirement plan

$3000 canadian is around $2300 USD a month for rents more expensive than the USA. But of course not on the beach. Wonder why it's so much? I've seen other videos of very nice luxury apartments in nice parts of Mexico for $400=$750 USD a month. But thanks for the video.
It was a luxury house right on the beach. I have more videos about budget friendly rentals for $400-700 close to the beach. Thank you for watching 😊
Do you have a video featuring cheaper rental rates?
Hi Hardy! Yes I do , check out video Maxico apartments tour, there are more options for budget friendly rentals in PV :)
Europcar is the best, used it in Spain, good.
We have enjoyed your video a lot, but my wife is very curious where did you buy the orange blouse ?, shy loves the way it looks on you .
Thank you guys for watching my video:) the orange top I bought back in Vancouver Canada at super store. Thanks for comment. Sorry, I didn’t see your comment until today:(
WAIT...a Taxi charges you 20 Canadian dls. for a ride of 20 minutes rides?? and Uber half price...isn´t a bit too high the taxi...330 MXN??
The price of taxi depends on where you go, for example I paid $400 pesos from airport to hotel 20 min drive. But also I do my best to negotiate the price with the taxi driver and Uber and it works almost all the time 😊
Thank u for this tips. 💓

I had fun on timeshare presentation, they tried to sell you guaranteed reserved vacation in different places around the world, . The total price was about $20000 US, you can pay at once or instalment payments and after that annual payments of $400US. Hi Larissa! Enjoyed your informative video. Is your rent really $3, 000 Canadian a month, that's not a typo? Seems really high especially for Mexico!
When you come here you can find friends on Facebook, WhatsApp and go from there:) People are very friendly here so don’t hesitate to ask for what you need!!! It’s nice place to live here with a good positive energy and lots of ☀️
