Great stuff Andy
Cheers Bruce
The grass remark and 4/3 camera are what made me totally move to HDzero beginning of this year. Until then, I was flying both
Glad you got to fly crux35 HDzero! I have two crux35 and they are a blast. The new camera made a HUGE difference. Nice to see you like HDzero and can’t wait to see you have more fun with it.
Was all set to go with the D but now heavily leaning towards HDZero, their goggles are to be revealed today!
I just don't agree with DJI policy and politics.
Great review! I recently bought an HDZero whoop board and Scout HD googles just to try it out. I have been more than impressed! There is a lot of negative stuff out there that makes it seem like HDZero is no good. I had a feeling a lot of them might be biased towards the other brand.
Awesome flying and review, Andy! 😃
I believe the newer VTXs have smart audio!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That's correct, they do.
Glad you like the HDZero system Andy. I had invested in custom optics for my wonky eyes and HDO's just before DJI dropped, but was aware of (at that time) Byte Frost. When the Sharkbyte VRX was on sale I pulled the trigger and don't regret it. True about the DVR though, it just doesn't do the system justice. Even the original Runcam Nano HD 💩's all over analog!
Great video Andy! I've been flying HDZero for a while now and, coming from analog it's a definite upgrade. With the continuing updates it just keeps getting better. I have it on my 5 inch freestyle and a 3 inch toothpick. The antenna choice and placement on the quad makes a difference. Cheers 😉
Great info fellas! Thanks again
Great video there, thank you Phill for helping Andy get this going. I am eager to see HDZero become more available.
Hey Andy I'm so glad you enjoy HDZero! Can't wait for your VRX to show up so we can see more from you. Cheers!
me too! thanks for watching
I've been keen to go digital and keen for HD Zero to be available on a larger scale. I was going to go with the DJI but HD Zero is definitely the preferred option.
Which did u choose I'm curious?
Really nice flight and info review Andy.
thank you :)
I love watching dvr and I love props in view 😃
Yet again a fantastic video Andy, I absolutely love HD zero and can’t wait to build a quad with it 😃
Really appreciate everything you do brother 🤜🏻🤛🏻
This is the way I want to go!! Man that video looks great! Great to see you Andy!! Was worried that last video may not see vids anymore. Anything you do is awesome to us
Nah just needed a bit of me time. But it sure does take the wind from your sales. That's why I liked this vid. I already had somebody that had all the knowledge. Major thanks to Phil
@@AndyRCchannel hell yeah this got me excited. Something to look forward to. Thank you both bro
@@GrimSpeedFPV thanks for watching
Wow amazing Andy have a fantastic day
The word for One who couldn't be named was "Voldemort" 😅
Great vídeo ANDY 👌
Great overview Andy....My only gripe was the pixelated text on the OSD...?
Watching with interest now, the blades of grass thing a nice observation...You will HAVE to do a range test at some point. Can't wait to see the new VRX...🤔😀😀🇬🇧
I enjoy both digital systems and analog. FPV is just amazing 🤩.
Isn’t it 😃👍
It literally saved me 🙏
I am watching !! Look at that Grass!! 😆
Heheh
I really want to switch to digital this year, and it's probably gonna be hdzero...
Really nice! 👍🏻
My new HDZero V2 VRX looks cool and works even better!
that was fun, thanks Andy
thanks for watching :)
Impressive fly time very good review.
Great review! Just so you know there are custom canera adjusemts in the menu for sharpness, saturation, white balance, contrast and brightness! Love to see youbreview this. I'll see if I can talk Carl into sending you something for review
that would be super thank you
@@AndyRCchannel for sure!
The eachine EV100 image is so sharp it looks digital 🤣
(it has 23 degree fov)
Great overview and chat. One thing I'd be interested in seeing compared is power consumption of HD VTx vs analog, or other (H)D VTx's. (not seeing large heat sink, unless I'm missing something)
Being more a wing guy, would be interested in seeing some range testing in future, when new video receiver is available.
Wondering if the dynamic range of video in goggles is better than that from the DVR? OLED's so offer superb capability with dynamic range and contrast. Don;t believe that many people watch youtube videos with FPV goggles.
Yeah that is something I missed. I guess if you don't see it as a problem you forget to mention it. But the dynamic range I'd say to the other option. Pointing right at the sun and no darkness. Power consumption, all I can say is it's a 3.5 inch model with a 750mah 4s lipo battery and it gets shy of a 10 min flight time. They do get hot yes but as you mention not enough to need a heat sync. They will sit there nicely at 25mw but at first blasting at 200mw there's thermal protection so they just shut off if they get too hot. The more powerful vtx has a heat sync
That looks great!👍 Looks mutch better than my own HDZERO DVR..in what Quality you render and upload it?
Phil recommended the TS file format in the DVR. Apparently it looks the best. Its also upscaled to 4k 60fps at 100mbs so that it picks up youtubes more favorable VP9 codec which bypasses what I call their potato encoder they use for lower resolutions.
Andy, рад тебя снова видеть!
Gecko Спасибо тебе того же!
What model is that quad? It looks a bit like my GEPRC PX3 frame
Think it might be helpful if HD-Zero or other provider offered a starter HD-Zereo Starter KIT. VRx, VTx and camera with antenna's in a single package. (with perhaps an option for 2x VTx's and cameras)
I agree I just don't thihk they have the funding and infrastructure to put it all together. That crux35 is a bind and fly though. And I have listed all the parts that you need in the description of this video which you can buy from the same store.
Ok… you might have just convinced me… :)
Ok, I loved this test in an open field! Great video! Now, try it with some solid objects to fly around and in back of. Anything, including analog will perform well in an open field, but I want to see how the penetration of objects is. I think I know, so be prepared! lol ;) I guess you do fly in open fields, Andy, but many of the rest of us never do. It's too boring not to have some things to fly around. I'd like to see another test with many objects.👍😁
If it helps here's footage on this channel of me going around those same trees with analogue, not really a fair comparison as the analogue is up at 400mw not 200 but as you can see ua-cam.com/video/jJs0qAtbyDs/v-deo.html similar sort of break up if not more. Which is why i shout "what" at one point. Its a massive field and from what iv seen from earlier iterations, that break up was happening in open spaces. So its improved a lot. But I get it. All respect to analogue. I thought you liked this model in your previous comments. You dont have the hdzero version?
@@AndyRCchannel the lack of any response is quite telling 👍😅
was that a Happymodel Crux35 ?
are you going to review it too ?
It is and I am yes
@@AndyRCchannel And can you plug the HDZero into the AV of the "other" D Goggles ?
I really don't want to buy another set
@@FiddlingwithmyWhistle no sadly you cannot, but you might be able to on the new fatshark goggles. I dont have details if it has HDMI but if they have been smart it should do. But mounting it would be the problem. I think the fatshark / DJI offering that we will see tomorrow/Friday will just completely ditch HDzero as an option.
It's a great quad! You didn't really see it in this video, but it is faster than you can believe! Lightest 3.5" Toothpick BNF on the market. Almost had no reviews on the digital versions because Happymodel was too cheap to send any to reviewers! What a shame... It kicks ASS! And, it's cheap too!
@@KOrnhOliO1 Yes, it's on my wish list. I want the DJI HD with ELRS but no one has them in stock at the moment. Jason said I could order direct, but the shipping time is a killer :(
Hi Andy, yeasterday I was flying my crux35 analog back to home and I drained the battery 100m away from my position. The quad didn't fell down, but I landed at 2.0V. While searching for the quad I used the Beacon beeper (esc's sounds) to find it while the battery was under 3.0V. Today I pugged a fresh battery and it won't boot up (be, bee and nothing more). Do you know how to troubleshoot that? Thanks a million.
Sometimes when a battery gets completely depleted while plugged into a quad. It can wipe the firmware on the flight controller. So I would look at reflashing betaflight and and setting everything up. If you are getting beeps that's a good sign but if it is not arming it's probably just wiped betaflight as a third beep means it's found your controlling and it sounds like it's not doing that. It may have whiped or reset the beta flight settings
now you've got to try the hdzero micro v2 in 4:3 mode... or a digisight v3... the micro v2 for the win though
just need the vrx and im ready for it all :)
I think that lens could use a bit of focusing.
Mine is a bit clearer.
i think JB did a video on how hdzero cams always look out of focus and he showed it could not be improved. It doesnt look like that in the goggles. Phil actually had a fly of it for the review of the quad and im sure he would have piped up if he thought the same. He flys this cam a lot. Have you watched this vid in 4k?
I so badly wanted to buy into HD zero but now I'm on the DJI bandwagon and see no reason to switch any time soon 😎🤙
If there was a cheaper option for spectators, I might buy in. Thank you Andy.
I would have the original HDZERO vrx.
Looking forward to seeing what fatshark has to offer this Friday :-)
DJI Goggle for fpvers that can record the osd and potentially some more flexable VTXs
i thought the thumbnail said HOZER. haha in my defense i have COVID.
it does make the eyes go blurry. 4 months after I still get days like that
Been running "the other one" for quite a while now. This is the first video of HDZero I have seen that has even come close in avoiding excessive "still looks like analogue" snow noise lines, but then range and obstructions were not high. Need a much clearer indication of what and when with regards availability of all the components needed, but looks (still) promising if less progress tahn hoped for.
Yes, need to see a TRUE test with solid objects and flying behind lots of bushes and trees. Like real life FPV flying! :)
I've been flying "D who should not be named" for 2 years now, they're great. I've been really keen to get HDZero for my whoops, but the goggles/receivers are impossible to get in Aus.
same everywhere I think :(
@@AndyRCchannel Yeah, seems so. Especially since the big D's new goggles will have no support for the original protocols or transmitters, it really makes me not want to buy any more into their ecosystem.
@@LookingForEntertainment112 Fatsharks new goggle might, Its certainly DJI based but lets see tomorrow/friday
@@AndyRCchannel After JB's video, it seems the new Fatsharks are their own proprietary thing and still very much in the Kickstarter/GoFundMe stage. Quite a chunky looking VTX too, I guess I'll need to wait for HDZero to get their supply chain sorted?
Was wondering Andy.......I fly with Skyzone 02x with 854 x 480 sd screens but the goggles have an HDMI input. If you plugged HDZero into these goggles the picture you'd get would never be as good as higher res goggles but you would get a picture. The question is would it be a better picture than analogue or not? Not seen anyone look into this and as a lot of pilots fly with cheaper SD goggles that still have an HDMI input this info could be helpful to many people. Just a thought, thanks Andy👍
It would look better because the camera is better. But you would be losing out If I recall the o2x doesn't have oleds? could be wrong on that as its been a while but LCD displays wont pop with the colors like oleds. Id also check that the HDMI mode inputs 16:9 because some goggles for some reason locked the aspect ratio to 4:3 when in HDMI Mode and hd zero is locked to 16:9. I think the hdmi connector type on HDzero is the smaller type so look into that as well but I think the latest o2x has the right one
@@AndyRCchannel thanks Andy, great info 👍
I use the skyzone 02x with hdzero. It definitely looks better than analog, but obviously not as good as with my 04x goggles. However, there is one catch... the 02x will not display an image when directly connected to the vrx. If you connect the vrx to an hdmi splitter and then plug the 02x into the splitter it will work. Not ideal, but it works. I have heard that it is the same for the new 02o as well.
@@philipeville9506 thx for the info. Very weird though
It will be better because you will not have desync, blinking, deformation or color changing image.
Maybe it's finally becoming a real product. Hope so. Even with lower latency it should be a bit cheaper imo. It it can do that then yeah, I see it's got promise.
Frames to light it,s got wobbles
Needs a tune.
yes its got some tuning issues I think which is causing the jello as the camera is mounted solid
@@AndyRCchannel it’s vertical arm flex, worse on 7inch quads, the giro cant detect miro vertical arm flex.
@@kerrymillar4981 nah not on this one. You will see in my review of the model.. but i wanted to separate the model and hd zero into two different vids which is why there are a few cuts in the flight videos
The DVR is not great. Can not find anyone who actually has it IRL. Would like to fly it back to back with a solid analog build, and the DJI.
I flew DJI for 2 years, and been flying Hdzero for 1.5 year. Image quality is way better than analog: digital transmission avoids any image distorsion and weird coloring change.
Regarding DJI, in 50Mb/s, image is Nice, and more detailed generally. I say generally, because, from time to time, the image gets pixelated. I do à lot of racing with track on grass, and this led me to many crashes, so I started to use more and more Hdzero, because the quality you have, is what you get all the time: when réception goes down, you lose packets, part of the image that translate into a grey square, but the rest of the image quality doesn't change.
Some people might talk about variable latency, but in race conditions, latency was stable at 28ms on dji, and with hdzero, latency is around 25ms with current goggles, so it's not a property to consider in my case.
@@cedricgrandseigne Good info, thanks for the comment. Still wish anyone I know flew it to try it out. I mostly fly freestyle and mid-long-range on DJI and micros on analog. I really hope HDzero gets smaller and more abundant, so I can use it for the micro quads.
@@trajanfpv it already has actually, there's a new even smaller vtx and camera coming now, they have already been previewed, check out mr shutterbug on youtube
@@elxero2189 Your right, Nate has some small stuff, but it is not quite small enough. Getting there, but not quite.
@@cedricgrandseigne Agreed, latency is way blown out of proportion with DJI! If you know you are flying something with supposedly more latency, your brain will trick you into thinking you can feel it - which is simply not true. it's just not enough of a difference! Don't believe me? Go watch JB and Stingy's video where they fly them both back to back and do not know which system they are flying. Then they guess which one each flight was. They couldn't tell! Both of them failed to tell! lol :)
This video is terrible, I insist you all watch it from the very start to the very end without fail then hit that 👍 button to ensure you have shown your displeasure to the great analytic. Then you better check out those links or I won’t be happy.
I also want to complain about the clear bias the sun has for Andy compared to me, time and time again I see that big yellow burning ball support Andy with good light and nice conditions. I am going to HR about this.
haha now that made me laugh out loud. Yeah we had one lucky Sunday. Much appreciated comment :)
I think the D company has goggles that are the ugliest on the market and make wearers look like a giant fly!
totally agree andy, hdzero is the way forward! far to many people in the hobby taking the D when that company does not care one bit about the fpv community, where as carl is goin to end up being a big name in the industry. im blown away by hdzero and its my video link of choice now.
Hahaha, why couldn't you say the "D" word?
Just don't want to do what to everyone else is doing by comparing two completely different systems that work differently and are aimed at a different market
I was having trouble getting into the various Shark Byte / HDZero menus through stick commands, VTX & cameras each have their own menus, I found the correct commands and added them to an image I found that had Mode 2 Betaflight stick commands:
www.haku.co.uk/pics/Betaflight_Stick_Commands.gif
thanks for that :)
@@AndyRCchannel No problem :)
I made the image to put on my phone and share online last September. Those stick commands are spread across 3 pages in the Shark Byte pdf manual which is hassle to scroll through and find, I just wanted to see them all in one spot without excess unnecessary text.
There's also down and out on both sticks to turn the VTX to 0mW that I don't see on your sheet, Ridwan 👍 Down and in again to restore output power. Very, very useful for those situations where you don't want the VTX overheating.
@@eatyourvegfpv Thank you, I was unaware of that capability, I will try to test it for myself tonight when I get home (want to be sure I'm putting out correct info) and add it to the image.
I've seen first hand how hot they can get, last July I pointed my thermal imager at a powered up Shark Byte VTX in a TinyTrainer with the canopy off, after 4 minutes it reached 120 Celsius!
@@eatyourvegfpv yes Phil mentioned that one and i missed it in the video. If you leave it sitting there for long enough it will overheat and shut off, however once we turned it down to 25mw and let it cool down it didn't do that again. Also nice that once its armed that function is disabled
