- This MK7 Golf R is back to make some more power. In this one we show you the difference on how much power can be had running Ethanol, in this case E40. We also switch from the Vortex Standard housing, to the Vortex XL housing and show you the difference in spool and power delivery.

For clarification, it's not just fuel. The ethanol allows more timing, that's where the power is coming from. I assume people know that and shouldn't.

Matt just became my replacement tuner, Nick was tuning my file but apparently he no longer is tuning with EQT. So far his response times are far better and he seems like he is extremely knowledgeable with his answers.

Hi. I Live in brazil and use 100% ethanol in my projects, its amazing fuel. Sometimes I make a mix between ethanol and methanol 80/20 %. My car is a Polo 9n 2.0 With a ported 20v agu head . Gtx3576r 2.2bar 600whp

Great video, Matt finished my gli a couple weeks ago he did an excellent job, the thing is a beast, I run e85, FBO, MPI 1300cc injectors, rs3 brushless pump and controller, and upgraded fuel lines
What hp are u at with that setup and is it the mk7 gli?
It’s a mk7 gli, I honestly think it’s at very similar power as the golf r in the video. I want to get it dynoed soon, I got a 93 octane map done for the winter months and the e85 map for the rest of the year

G35-1050 R needs to come next. I got one on my A3 and the power band is out of this world. Built and ported head makes these things fucking BREATH

Not at all. This runs about 33psi on pump or ethanol. The difference in power is timing.
Very impressive. Still think I’d go with standard to stay within safe limits if the rods.

Torque comes in later, so even better for them rods.
I went with an rx500 turbo instead of rx550 for that reason. Don’t wanna have to build a motor or trans. And everyone running an XL always ends up with a broken engine or trans given enough time

For the mk6 golf r I would leave a high flow muffler on the back and make the rest either just a high flow cat or straight pipe

Update to my previous comment. I just visited my home town's Esso in Kingston, NS (i havent been back in 16 months or so) and noticed that there was a "may contain up to 10% ethanol" where it didnt used to be one. I got curious and asked the owner and they verified it on the fuel delivery slip that 91 did indeed have ethanol included in it and the lines were upgraded to filter out water due to the ethanol content. I just took a sample of their 91 after filling my car and can confirm 8-10% ethanol in the 91 Octane my local Esso in the Annapolis Valley, I've never been so happy.....
Interesting, I've been testing it here and I've yet to find any E in any of the fuel.
@@COMotorsports I didnt want to believe it at first. I just ghetto tested it with a water bottle and a water line and saw a pretty large increase in separation. I have a more precise bottle coming in to actually test the E content thursday so I will send you guys a message on Facebook of my findings.
I wont get back until the spring to be able to log the RS3 to determine the quality of this new fuel. If you do find some in the HRM please let us know in a video so i can start mapping out "safe" locations to gas up.

My engine is built and I plan to make full send E100 map for "testi(s)ing" purpose since my goal is to run 5.xx on 100-200kmh.
Also what I love to point out is that you really show true full boost rpm and eqt's web site over exaggerate boost response for that turbo/s...

Looks like that EQT Vortex XL is a great turbo for the street. I'm currently upgrading my fuel pump to a A2B LPFP an a PR MPI 925cc/ 1300 cc. How much power with all the fuel system add ons can you make on Sunoco 94 pump gas? Thanks for the great video.

Good ol' Nova Scotian 91 octane.....great video as usual. Do you guys sell e85 or 98 by the barrel? I got my Fuse e98r from another shop in NB, but I guess Fuse is no longer in business and I'm now scrambling for a replacement. We spoke on a previous video about a possibility of WMI setup for my RS3, but I feel like if Ethanol is easily sourced I might as well keep running it as it's the most safe option.
I've been out of province with the car in Saskatchewan and their 91 logs just as horrible as here (e0) so I very much looking forward to giving my barrel of Ethanol a hug when I'm home in February.
Ethanol isn't an "easy" option. Most that have it are for race cars.
@@COMotorsports I agree it's not the easiest option, but until I run out, Its just easy for me just putting 5L of e98 into our 91 octane every fill to log no timing retard on my stg1 unitronic tune. Looking long term, I was thinking of getting a WMI setup install from your shop and spraying 50/50 meth post IC at the charge pipe (3ft from TB maybe) but wasn't sure if it would all atomises to lower the IAT but would not get any octane increase vs spraying at the TB with a spacer from Iroz. What are your thoughts?

Yes but it depends where you live.
Nice results of the money, however, I would never buy an IS38 centre section based turbo. They just won’t last.

Different feeling. RS feels like a switch is flipped from no boost to ALL the boost. Mk7 is soooo much smoother IMO.

I have a 2002 New Beetle Turbo S 6 speed. I've got a 3" downpipe then 3" is running all the way to the rear axle, and the last 2 foot is finished in 2.5" to the bumper. My plans are to install the absolute best ECU upgrade, plus run a cold air induction, plus run those upgraded ignition coils I've seen on your channel. (Great content by the way). My question is......Can I achieve at least 325H.P. of course 400 H.P. would be better lol doing what I've mentioned to the car?? Or in your professional opinion, will it have to have a turbo upgrade along with bigger injectors and fuel pump, just to reach 350-400 H.P.?
You won't make anywhere near that power on stock turbo, stock IC, stock fueling. You will lots of upgraded to achieve those goals with that engine.
I ordered a turbo upgrade rated at .64 (I think it's either .63 .64 or .67, it said 400+H.P. on the turbos info). I will order the bigger injectors as well as the appropriate fuel pump once I find out exactly what size they both need to be.I also would like to buy the best ones money can buy to avoid as much premature failures as possible. If I achieve 350+ as we say down here in the south, I'll be happier than a pig in poop!! Lol

On our fuel that's 430-440whp
I can see even on ethanol its really low torque for that hp numbers. My old Saab 2001 with bigger turbo etc gets over 600 nm of torque and like 420 hp. (on e85)
Has nothing to do with ethanol. Most runners are keeping this engine around the 430wtq for safety.
I have a 2017 Mk7 Autobahn Edition. It's my daily driver. I would be really worried about the longevity of the motor at 500+hp bolt on level. Without building the motor seems most people in the enthusiast community would say 400WHP or so is as far as you would wanna go with a stock motor for reliability.
Anyone with 60-130 times for this or similar setup?

So E85 vs E40 blend.. is going from E40 to E85 not a big difference in power potential? I know you need to pump more E85 because it has about 33% less combustion power than normal gasoline.. so fuel mods are a must to even use it to its full potential.
On this setup there wouldn't be much for gains.

All comes down to the parts you put in. For example a turbo alone can literally be thousands in the difference from one to another.

That's typically for most engines. You can even see a lot more than that.
I just purchased a CTS MPI 1300CC KIT. Have you ever had any issues with any of there kits? After installing we had a hole blow through the fuel line going from the T fitting down to the MPI rail. It looked like cheap fuel hose couldn't handle pressure of HPFP.

Would the gain between 91 and E47 had been similar between the vortex and XL or will you see further fall off on oeak power on the std turbo?

None of these are laggy in the least. The data is in the video of the difference. Also manual vs dsg makes a difference as well as DSG is less likely to notice a difference.
How much boost were you running on the 2nd Dyno pull that resulted in 480whp when using ethanol?

@angrysheep101 I think those "600whp" dynos the dyno is being forgiving. I believe these turbos are really good for about 550whp on your standard dynojet.
@CO Motorsports Is the MK6R compatible with Ethanol from Factory? in terms of lines and tank ( Injectors of course need an upgrade). Any flex fuel kit for the CDL platform (EA113) ?
Ethanol wasn't really considered on that one. Also running straight E without larger injectors will just result in less power capabilties due to the need for more fuel when running E.

Tuned, but if you live where I do where it’s scorching hot, those things would keep the factory tune from pulling timing constantly. I notice a huge difference in the morning at 60 degrees compared to later when it’s 100+

@@COMotorsports one more question! I have a 02 vw gti 1.8 gt3071r. Right so my question is my AFR reading is 16.7 - 17.00 at idle. It does have a tune, the bottom end is built and I’m smelling a lot of gas what could be that cause?
@@COMotorsports I already checked my injectors they are not leaking and I checked under the seat in the vehicle and no gas is leaking from the tank. But when I get on throttle, it reads between 14.7 and lower. Why am I running lean on idle?

It helps with a handful of things, crappy PCV, carbon buildup, and more.

I’m curious what this R would do on a WMI tune using 91oct fuel and 50/50 boost juice? I doubt it would make the same power as this E40 tune, but what would be your guess on the numbers it would make?

A standard wmi wouldn't help nearly as much as direct port wmi.

Depends what you consider worth. Stock coils can handle a lot of power, however the APR coils are similar price to stock.

nice video. but, you can't say that you gain hp with "only" fuel, that's little bit misleading, maybe it is same boost or even lower, but without adding ignition there's no power even with ethanol, maybe you should make that clear to the viewers. kind regards.
Of course it's with ignition timing. Not being misleading, at least not intentionally. Although fuel alone can make more power it's not making big gains without more timing. Which I do state in the video.
What is the ethanol content limit of stock fueling mk7.5r on stage 2 without being too risky?
Very little, remember although E makes more power it requires more injector/fuel pump. So you're essentially shrinking your fuel system running E.
