Love the Dale Murphy signing story!!! The older guys just seem to be much nicer than the current players...
Murphy's one of those guys who will always be on the Vet Committee ballot. Like Hodges, Oliva, Minoso. Time will pass and likely one day, he'll get in when no one remembers his decline. And his RC will always be relevant in the hobby.

Those two 1986 sets...wow...this is his chance to have a graded highly sought after set...yes, I'd pick out the best of each and grade, if the commons look like a 7 or lower then I'd look to see what prices you can get at auction...the Japanese Ruth is a great find also, definitely a pc card

@@mackymintle7806 oh ya, I know the costs...with a set like this you can do a few batches a year for a while and then you'd have a nice grail set...I had about 40 of them before COVID with some 10's but let them go when price skyrocketed... I'll eventually piece together another one but larger down the road
Yes, good advice regarding the '86 Fleer sets. I saw a complete set with all cards a PSA 8 at the Philly show with an asking price of $18,000.
The Acuna was not listed properly but also people stay away from singles with $5.00 shipping.

That Brooks you sold thru GMC - great looking card. You're right about GMC's evaluations. You can be sure the card is at least the condition they say it is, and often it's better. I won a '67 Carlton 2nd year they listed as vgex for under $13 and when I got it, I couldn't find any flaws except for 70/30 centering. Competition at their auction site is fierce, and the snipers are definitely out in full force. But every now and then, I get lucky.

Another reason that CJ Stroud card sold for so much is because he that he isn't signing autographs for Panini so his case hit inserts and low numbered parallels are the "best cards" he has right now
If you’re willing to do the legwork, there are still great deals out there for sportscards. A few years back I ran into a duffle bag full of sportscards with a beautiful Walter Patton rookie on the top. I asked the price and when they told me $50.00 I couldn’t help myself; I told them the card on top is worth that. They hurrily took the bag and brought it back into their home.

why can't I get 2 86' Fleer set's for 800$?! gahh. that's pretty much the motherload at this point as vintage baseball is completely picked over
I’m an Indians team set collector and I’m down to 3 1952 Topps high Numbers and the Bob Uecker rookie (which has Indian Doc Edwards on it)…..it’s one of the last cards in the 1962 Topps set, which makes it an Uber expensive high number. I’ve NEVER found a Uecker rookie (fully intact) for under a $100. And $100 ones are like PSA 1 (run over by a truck division)……there’s multiple reasons I found the high number 1967 Topps rocky colavito (final card in the set) or the 1967 high number team card…..the Uecker is nearly impossible to find and it is also WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, regardless of Uecker’s legacy!
I find the Acuna interesting. I've been buying some of these not associated with anything patch cards recently. You see people have wised up & often these patch cards sell for less than base rookie cards. I think the market has overreacted. Granted cutting up an off the shelf jersey does not make it a relic however some of these cards look cool & they are rarer than a base card so I keep my eyes peeled for cheap superstar rookie patches. They do look nice on the shelf.
Chris, I have meant to ask you and I am trying not be sacrilegious. Gunnar Henderson is a tall shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles and the last time that happened was none other than your favorite player Cal Ripken Jr. It's early to say that Henderson is the 'next Cal Ripken.' But do have a special feeling about him? Any weird reservations if he turns out to be great?
No reservations at all! Ripken's legacy is locked in regardless of how good Gunnar Henderson becomes

I love regular rollers but how is a CJ Stroud $4,000 card considered a regular roller card? I cant believe two 86 Fleer sets for $800. Why doesn't that luck happen to me?

Just bought from GMC its a 1977 venezuelan topps sticker Tom Seaver SGC 1 pop two with only one graded higher for $67 it would have made regular rollers list for sure love your videos chris 🫶
The acuña is off both top tier bottom and left to right…
Key is to list as a lot to avoid ebay authenticity and that doesn't just apply to trading cards. That 86 fleer find is a bit sus guy was willing to pay $800 when he thought the Jordan's were probably fake? 🤯🙄
The only dif that may make Stroud worth more is that he has 0 autos and burrow has a half million so this will be one of his best rookie cards period
The extra piece on C-3PO error is the common one. The 'corrected' version is the htf one.
Definitely not the case. You can pick-up a raw corrected one for under $30 in decent condition. Good luck finding an error for anywhere under that.

What you are seeing in the market is what John Maynard Keynes et al have described as, 'supply and demand'. Nobody wants the corrected one because they don't get to see the goldenrod. Chris, I think there is consideration to panic for collectors of C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and Will Levis as none signed with Panini to have formal or official rookie autographs, so rare parallels or hobby favorite subsets will drive the value...beyond the value of Stroud having a good run of stats in his rookie season. Same thing happens to all hot rookies. The market drives the price. Simple economics... supply and demand with your Brock Purdy experiment. :) Have a good week!

Hey Chris: What is it you notice about the Mantle? To my eye the borders are slightly too wide, and the back is too brown when they are generally more a grey color.
Yeah the back coloring is the biggest giveaway as that is the most standard type of reprint on that card
When I was a kid in the 80s and 90s corners mattered the most…just me?

6 card vintage lot....buyer beware and I would NEVER buy certain cards without a picture of the back of the cards.
