He Pulled a Gun on me in Cali Colombia

- I'm currently in Cali Colombia for New Years and something I hoped would never happen, happened. While recording a vlog, four men on motorcycles pulled up and demanded my phone. After I didn't immediately give it up because I didn't fully understand, one of the men left of screen pulls a gun out of his pants. I go into more detail in the video, and you can actually see the interaction. I won't let this interaction ruin my new year, nor my opinion of Colombia. Lesson lived, and I hope you guys can learn from mistake and avoid such situations when visiting.
Bro I'm glad you safe, but don't take dis the wrong way. You was the example of a walking lick... you stood out and had your phone out lacking.. I'm from Chicago and it doesn't matter if you go to states or overseas, you have to respect the streets.. ppl out there hurting and you r phone can feed dem for like 6 months 🚫🧢... you just got move like you in your worse hood.. anything can and will pop off.. lesson learned my friend.. Honestly bro, I already know. I haven't even been able to rewatch the video because I get so pissed at myself. I grew up in Oak Cliff I'm Dallas, so I already know. The craziest part, I didn't add it to the video, but there was a white car, limo tint all around, creeping behind me with the blinkers on. I was able to immediately spot it cause my head was on a swivel. These dudes caught me lacking for a milli second and could've been worse. I am embarrassed by it, but I uploaded it so that other people can learn and see, even being street smart, you have to always be aware of your surroundings and weird vibes. I have a cheap wallet with a few pesos and canceled credit cards … it’s a diversion, burner phone out in town with claro. Long term advise . The credit card in the shoe is good.
If you are here short term, you can swing it with your normal phone but try to keep it away. May ahead of time or you can here google maps from pocket.

It's true be careful with your things at the street, but not everybody are bad in Cali it has a lot good and nice people, friendly and honest too. Enjoy your travel
You can't have your cellphone out in the streets in Colombia, you basically put on a sign on yourself saying please rob me. Please listen to the locals.
You were trying to pre game like you were still in the states. You almost lost your life trying to get UA-cam clout.
I don't think I would define documenting my experience and trying to inspire others to leave the hood and explore the world would qualify as clout. I've visited there 4 times and this was the first issue I've ever had. In the US I literally have to drive around with my strap on my lap because it's definitely more dangerous than any country I've ever visited. I understand where your coming from, but I don't think clout is the correct definition of what I'm trying to accomplish. Thank you for watching.
Bro... it's not necessarily about being street wise or whatever. You could be from one of the most violent places in the world like certain regions in Mexico, Honduras, Venezuela, etc. and would still fall victim. The thing is when you're a stranger (especially to a city like Cali that has higher violent crime than other comparable ones), you're NOT truly and intimately familar with the culture and society there the way a local would be. All I can say is heed the locals advice, don't let all these other vloggers who aren't from there be your guide. Yeah, sometimes you get lucky and have a 100% incident-free experience, but sometimes you don't. Its a gamble. But it's better to be overly cautious than not.
Facts bro. 99.999999% of the time, my head is always on a swivel, paying attention to my surroundings no matter where I'm at. They just caught me off guard before I realized the streets were empty and everything was closed. Plus it was my fault having my camera out when the streets were empty. Yes, when he says teléfono, the guy on the left side of the screen pulled out the gun once his friend tried to grab my shirt and I knocked his hand down

It's great that you are traveling but be careful out there. Don't let the friendliness of the people fool you. You need to be very careful in South America. My family is from Peru and they deal with this all the time there too. Also if you are robbed again, never run. Try to figure out what they want, give it to them, and that's it. Material items can be replaced but not your life. Cheers.

Nah you'll definitely be good. Just keep your eyes open and be sure to travel/walk during the day, and with a group or in a Taxi or Uber at night and your going to have a blast. More videos coming from Cali. Saludos 🍻

@hhh1200 Unfortunately, this brother took a reckless and unnecessary risk. My roommate just came back from colombia for 2 months without any incidents. It's all about how you move in countries like Colombia, Mexico and Brazil. Listen to the locals, do research and there will be no issues.

I know this is old and it can be educational for those that come to Cali. I am not sure why this video is not viral at all ?? You actually got footage of an actual robbery. I see in this video that you are still wearing your gold chain with the continent of Africa hanging from it. Have you not heard of "No dar papaya"? I live in Cali 6 months per year and anything can happen day or night and I have been lucky and never encountered any problems. Walking around with a chain on is seriously asking for trouble and obviously vlogging on the wrong street at night could be asking for trouble as well. By the way I was in Cali from Nov 26 til Mar 25 and if I ran into you I would have been giving you a hard time aka talking mad smack about you walking around with the chain on. The worst experience I had overseas was my Airbnb ransacked but they took literally two or three dollars in reais, some cheap $30 skateboard shoes. Weirdest experience and Airbnb banned me smh.
