He deserved the criticism and now deserves the praise - I mean, it isn’t that difficult. The way they are playing now is all the evidence you need. Congrats to the coaches and players!
He deserved to be doubted and deserved the criticism he got. He stepped it up and decided to actually use the talent he had, and as a result, got better. So naturally buckeye nation is happy. Can't get mad about people complaining about underperformance
I wish they had fired him to see their fans crying when they go 7-5, 6-6 like USC. Teams think their school is so good based on the athletes they’re paying, any coach they hire will do great there.
@@SharkAcademy OSU is one of the few schools that can do well no matter the coach lol. especially now with NIL, it’s a very attractive place for recruits, always has been. not saying Ryan Day is average i think he’s a good coach but let’s not act like he’s Nick Saban. we’re OSU we can get almost any coach we want lol
@ fans don’t really understand the implications of NIL. It doesn’t make you be able to get all the players you want, in fact, it makes any of the schools be able to compete to prevent any team from ever being like Alabama in the early 2010s because they can stack all the talent. Instead, all of the schools can pay and be competitive with any of the players. OSU can pay, Texas can pay a ton, Texas A&M can pay, USC can pay, FSU can pay, Georgia can pay, and even smaller schools can pay for at least some that teams like OSU would have had. There’s actually more parity, and it will be rare for schools to be so stacked they will have backups that are as good sitting on the bench. As soon as you start getting cocky and make statements like those that you’re making, it’s exactly how dynasties fall, and OSU isn’t even a dynasty.
@@SharkAcademy it doesn’t really matter OSU as a whole has a lot of money to contain players and keep them in the program, and is currently known as WRU so we don’t even need money to get receivers. As i said before OSU is an attractive place for recruits but we can pay to keep them in the program aswell, not every program can say that. OSU has had how many coaches since the late 80s? and has not ever fallen off. one bad year which was the tattoo scandal. Yes OSU has never had a dynasty they’re the only program that is consistently good over the past 40 years though. USC has always had stretches of being bad to mediocre, OSU has not, they’re not any other program lol you just want us to believe our last 5 coaches just so happened to be legendary coaches that we won’t be find once Day is gone?
Ohio State was loaded. If anything, the team was not coached up to its potential. The Buckeyes should have finished at least 14-1, if not 15-0. I'm not going to give credit to someone who is working with a mini-NFL roster.
I’m sorry you are so upset, but this is ignorant. Coaches do more then just call plays (which do put talent in opportune situations) but they develop and grow talent. Ohio State will have maybe a couple late first round picks this year in the draft. Many other schools will have more.
He won the Natty! And has the 3rd highest winning percentage of all coaches. And now he is one of 3 active coaches whom have won a Natty! And he didn’t cheat! He is in rare air baby!
Don’t be deceived. The Bucks still underperformed this year. That school up north can still claim they won the big game this year and the team hasn’t been to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship since Justin Fields was quarterback. They are NOT the undisputed face of the Big Ten. (Heck, Quinn Ewers can claim that he beat the school up north more times than this senior class ever did) Ryan Day is not off the hook, not by a long shot. You notice that Ed Ogeron won the championship with Joe Burrow and J’Marr Chase. But is he still the head coach at LSU? No, this is not enough to make up for letting your mortal enemies win the championship last year or for losing to them four years in a row.
Ed isn’t the coach of LSU because of off the field issues… and LSU hasn’t done much since. These schools that think just because they’re paying players they will do well are delusional. Look at USC, look at FSU.
@ My point exactly. Coach Orgeron screwed up and LSU hasn’t done much since their championship. Which will happen to Ohio State if they don’t keep Ryan Day on a tight leash.
You can’t possibly say a team that won the national championship underperformed. What is the ultimate goal of every single sport? Winning a championship. They achieved that. You’re just a very sad man angry on the internet for no reason and I pity you. Loser
I know The truth hurts! OSU got 6 portal players of which only 3 were starters 1 on defense & 2 on Offense Everyone else was already on the roster and home grown! Thats less portal players added than 98% of CFB teams!
@@michaelrobertson8791 yikes if getting three players form the portal that started in the playoffs is “buying a team” (which consists of 11 players on both sides of the ball any given snap) then sure
I would lose to Michigan every year if it meant winning a national championship every year.
