As an Alabama fan who was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, I think that the SEC's reign of dominance that lasted 25 or 30 years is over and the B1G is once again the kings of College Football. The B1G has tv deals with three different networks, a footprint in major US Cities (NYC, DC/Baltimore, Philly, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, and LA), and clear definitive tiers in the B1G. The SEC has one source of income (ESPN/ABC), not many markets that are either major markets, long established markets, or traditionally tied to the conference markets (Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, Nashville, Orlando, St. Louis, Tampa), and no clear top teams in the league as everyone had at least 2 losses by Championship Sunday.
It’s more like 20 years… I wouldn’t count UF, it was more of state of Florida dominance cause of recruiting between UM, FSU and UF. Since then it spread north to the SEC region getting Florida players and now the Big10. Money will now dictate recruiting now more then ever
If the college football playoffs was a twelve team playoffs for the last twelve years, ohio state would have a lot more championships. Go back. And look at how many times they were excluded because of a single loss at the end of the year.
You have to admit that after that Mich loss they went on an absolute rampage. They beat Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and ND in succession, and in convincing fashion.
The days of the SEC being able to walk into a championship game because of ESPN bias has ended. Now they’ll have to beat 3 or 4 outside teams and I don’t see it happening. The myth of the SEC being the best is gone. Now that they can’t load the CFP with SEC teams and they’ll actually have to play tough teams to advance. We saw how that worked this year. Boy how this back fired on ESPN and the SEC 😂.

As an Ohio State fan I will say that the build up to the Championship game on Monday reminded me of The Game in 2006 when it was #2 Michigan at #1 Ohio State. All I could think was that when the day comes where we meet in the National Championship game at the end of a 12 team play off, it will be absolutely EPIC!
How can Paul say Ryan is by far not the best coach in the country. Then 2 sentences later he says Kirby Smart is better but not by much. Sounds like bs to me
Die hard OSU fan here, but I don't disagree with Paul on the coach question...I think Kirby Smart is the top coach in college football right now. We'll see how long it stays that way. Day has an amazing record and is elite, and is probably the second best coach, but Smart's record and accomplishments speak for themselves.
I don’t understand how everyone picked Tennessee to beat them. You could see how pissed that team was before that game. It was I knew they were going to get slaughtered but I didn’t expect them to beat Oregon worse.
You need criteria of what makes the best coach. It really should be about overachieving given beginning of season expectations. Ohio State clearly had the best roster, so a championship doesn't only rest on the coach. I'm most impressed with Arizona State's achievement myself. The coaching could have been a huge factor in why they ended so strong they almost took one Texas.
I'm an OSU fan and I agree. I think Marcus Freeman is a better coach. Look what he accomplished with a team that was inferior. I would actually like to see him take over at OSU.
Who do you think is responsible for Ohio State having more talent?Do you think the coach has anything to do with that? And don’t tell me NIL - every team in the country funneled millions of dollars to their players, many of them more than OSU, it’s just that the AD at Ohio State was the only one to pit a number out there. Freeman is doing great things at Notre Dame, but there is no gutantee that his style would automatically be successful at Ohio State.
Somebody tell Paul he has the third highest winning percentage in history through 80 games. Michigan has nothing to do with his greatness this guy is a CLOWN 🤡 talk Paul! Kirby has two Ryan has one and you guys stole one from Ryan to give to Kirby cut the games man
The need to learn how to lose comment is so typical of that no class program. Maybe you should learn to win and not try and plant a flag in someone’s field. Remember UM has had multiple times where they have fought with other teams
The south has the talent, but the Big Ten has the most money (other than Texas, which has both 👀). The money comment isn’t a criticism either just the truth. Should be a competitive new era of CFB.
Kirby Smart is better than Ryan Day? Got it. Finebaum just can't handle that the SEC tanked this season. They were overrated. Not slouches mind you but not like in the past. Finebaum will always be a SEC and Alabama homer. Michigan last year and now Ohio State national champions. I think Notre Dame will be back in the CFP next year. The B1G right now looks very solid as a conference in football.
Paul always has a bias to defend the SEC. He can’t admit that any other conference should win the Natty. While Ryan Day was winning the game, Kirby Smart was watching it on tv. I have more respect for Marcus Freeman than I do for SEC coaches.
Ok that's how I feel but Kirby went back to back and beat michigan and ND just beat GA for the first time GA 3-1 against them Kirby may have watch from home but he also owns his rival too... Bob hate all u want but don't disrespect the dawgs
ESPN goes all-in on the SEC. Right when there is a seismic change happening all across the college football world as NIL and the transfer portal re-align the power structure. Not sure about that decision.
I see that second half as OSU just playing with their food and being ultra conservative to run the clock out. A broken tackle and dime from Leonard is all that got them back in the game if you want to call it back in. I don't believe ND was ever in that game
You do know that score could have been much more lopsided right? THE fumble when OSU was driving for another score. THE pass interface that helped them out after OSU forced a punr.So sure they fought back but don't over look these facts.
Paul, you will be eating crow on the coaching choice, listen here, not only did he beat all the other coaches that are in the argument, but Ryan day also has the best record, over the longest tenure. And now also has a trophy to show for it, how many other coaches have his good of resume.....none, there ya go!
Sorry, but the loss to Michigan does not "all go away" with this win, as some would say. As a proud member of the Therapy Wanting Lunatic Fringe, I am happy and grateful to God that our players stood up and took control of their destiny to make this run and win it all. Their last 4 games were the most impressive strings of victories I have witnessed in 55 years of watching Buckeye football, especially after losing to Michigan! And, it is great that our genius coaches finally got their heads out of their behinds and got out of the way, by finally ceasing the reliance on the stupid zone blocking schemes that our big guys have not been able to consistently execute for years under Day. That being said, as we go forward I would love to see Day go on to a level of greatness that exceeds Sabin.
I think we are watching the maturation of Ryan Day, the coach, right before our eyes....thanks to scUM loss! we saw glimpses of his senseless micromanaging the play calling in the Texas and ND games, but another thing stands out to me, last years Ryan Day would not have hesitated to call out Lou Holtz on that stage last night, but Ryan Day, post scUM, chose to keep his mouth shut and take the high road!!
Finebum is such an SEC troll. He wouldn't give the Big Ten, or any other conference, the credit they deserve. Kirby Smart is the best coach? Why isn't GA in the Natty? You got no credibility, Paul. Shut up and go back to 'Bama. 🤔🙄

this 12 team playoff season could have looked much different and more detrimental to college football. If OSU beats Michigan, they had the potential to play Oregon three(3) times in one season. At the end of the third qtr, it was obvious to me that running right at Michigan's def big line was insane. Unless someone was playing to lose. The players sensed it, and therefore the big meeting the following week. If the championship game is Oregon vs OSU for a 3rd time in one season, TV ratings suck and the average fan maybe not tuning in.
