I will be completely honest: I have never been more proud of my editing than after I put together that little b-roll montage after the intro theme.
You must read so much! do you have a my anime list or anilist account where you log your reading data / write reviews? (would love to see your thoughts on my fav shonen jump titles)
how many manga titles have you read in total?
@@senzari6878 I don’t, sorry
@@callmejacob33 oof, hundreds, probably into thousands. I never kept up
I think it would be a good investment to get a camera with a little bit of higher fps
SIR REALLY YOUR COLLECTION IS LIKE A TREASURE HOUSE OF MANGA'S.
HOPE YOUR COLLECTION MAY GROW DAY BY DAY.
I'd really like to hear your thoughts on best to worst for the finished/cancelled series in the Shonen Jump line. Lots of those series don't seem to be talked much about anymore.
Was going to ask the same thing
This is actually a good idea
How many times did you win the lottery
Man, shoutouts to your grandpa for starting the most wholesome hording obsession I've ever seen, lol. Congrats Riley
Congrats! I feel that. I've put a list together of all my nostalgic series and have been on a hunt for each series that meant something to me as a kid, up to when I stopped trying to collect, just before undergrad. I'm in my 30s now and recently started picking things up again. So that feeling of getting caught up is also there. Thanks for sharing your collecting exp.
hey are you still collecting? just curious
This is legit my childhood. I used to have my dad buy me these shonen jump when I was in middle school and I was always just reading the ones I knew too. Like Hikaru no go and yugioh. Man this is truly truly a feat. So happy someone out there have gone out and did this. So happy seeing all these together like this!
First off congrats man, that is one hell of a collection. Im close to 700 volumes right now but I always think about when I have my own house in the future that I hope I can have a library as good as yours. Keep up the great content, as for videos I want to see... Besides the ones you mentioned probably a top ten most under rated, I think that would be an interesting one.
I think u should make a UA-cam channel tho
sick! start a UA-cam channel!
you should make a youtube and make manga reviews!
Great achievement. Congrats. I have few questions.
1. There must be many SJ series that haven't been translated yet. Do you plan on collecting those Japanese volumes? Have you ever thought about collaborating and working with Viz media to get some of those series translated?
2. During your collecting journey for SJ titles, which series you thought that if it wasn't for this SJ line. I wouldn't have collected ( this is not say this manga were bad, just not to your liking)
3. Since your collection have a lot of monetary values, do you have insurance for these? If yes, any specific advice regarding these.
4. If it wasn't SJ line, would you have done this similar project for any other line? Why yes or no?
5. Do you see your collecting journey changing as you grow older? If yes, how and why?
6. What are your fears regarding this manga collecting journey.
7. If you would have unlimited budget and were requested to create an anime adaptation for any series ( regardless of the existing anime) what would your top 5 be in SJ line, and what top 5 outside the SJ line?
There are many more but I think this will suffice for now. Haha.
There is no way he can collect all of them. The magazine started in 1968 and has seen hundreds of series, if not over a thousand. Some of these are barely over 10 chapters in 2 volumes with tiny, tiny print runs. If he's lucky, he might find a Japanese collector who did it and is willing to sell their collection. Otherwise I see no way of this happening.
@@JesusInStripeZ and if someone has that collection unless it's like a hand me down of a hand me down he probaly will not be willing to sell it or donate it
Im so happy for you!! This has been a huge mission and I am glad that with the support of your fans you have been able to achieve such a goal!
When I get older I wanna have a Manga Collection . Like a whole Room for Manga like in Detective Conan , Yusako Kudo has a Book Room. Since I was a little kid that was my dream and still is.
My man's got the library's whole manga section in his house.
Absolutely phenomenal collection! So happy for you man, all the hard work paid off!
This made me cry! 😢❤ I totally relate to how you feel and what those manga have meant to you throughout your life. It is like you said, you can resonate with these characters, despite the strange worlds they're in. They go through things and have to overcome things or don't and it is all-consuming. Growing up, I didnt realy have friends that had the same interest as me, so reading manga almost felt like a guilty pleasure because I felt I was the only one. The internet back then was not how it is now. So I'm grateful that you're here making these videos. Thank you. And congratulations on reaching this milestone.
Fantastic video. Your passion for the Shonen Jump line is infectious and I always learn something to use for my own collecting whenever I watch one of your videos. Thanks for doing this!
Congratulations on completing the collection! Looking to do the same down the line! Can’t wait to see your collection continue to grow in the future! Keep it up!
Speaking of feeling your inner kid after buying these manga, I felt the same. I had gotten rid of my manga after high school and in the past couple of years started rebuying. Buying the books by CLAMP I used to have made me so happy inside.
This is absolutely insane and epic. Congrats man!
Man, you brought back so many memories seeing those Shonen Jump magazine covers. Great work!
Congrats for this milestone. So happy for you. I would love to hear about Yu Yu hakusho. One of my top 3 manga of all time.
Uggh, I think this has inspired me to really kick it into gear to achieve my goal of collecting all of the Vertical Comics manga. I love their series and single releases so much having all of them like this would be so amazing.
this is an INCREDIBLY COOL collection. it's also a great reference for me personally!! i'm a new fan of Jump and still haven't figured out what all is a classic & what all's been translated into english, so I will absolutely use this video as a reference for that.
Dude, I just got recommended this video (never seen you before). I lauged OUT LOUD at your intro. I can't wait to watch this whole video and dig into your channel. Subbed!
that's so cool, great job!
So happy to see you complete the collection!!!
- from an avid One Piece and Shaman King fan
Enjoyed the video as always mate.
Thanks for sharing ! A great work ! I would like to know more about your favorite titles
This actually pretty awesome dude, keep enjoying it.
Dude honestly you dont get enough credit for these videos great job dude cant wait to see more 😁😁
Amazing collection!
This is awesome! I would love to see that ranking of everything in SJ line.
Dude this is amazing. I’ve been into anime since the late 90s watching various shows on Toonami, but I only recently got into reading manga. This is a helluva collection my man. Congrats.
Your collection is a dream for every manga/anime/collector fan! I would love see this collection in my life even if for once it would be a eyesight of blessing.
you have my at most respect as a fellow COLLECTOR
Starting at 18:32 give me some GOOSEBUMPS
thats an insane achievement
That’s a really impressive collection, I’m working on one as well. Mostly collecting the series I enjoy first, then expand from there. I’m abit interested to know more about Beet and Claymore.
This is sooo great. Can you publish a full list for us to see with all the series and volumes?
Collection of Treasure! This is one of my dreams, library of manga in my room like yours! I always think it's impossible, but seeing someone like you do this, makes my dream possible. Thank you and Congrats Man! 💖💪🎉👏
Wow. I can only imagine how proud and happy you feel from this! I’m so jealous hahaha
Good for you man! :)
Congrats on the dream!!! Great video!
Now make a tier list haha!!
No matter how many other types of manga people read they almost always go back to SJ. They really do have the best titles and the the ones that bring back your childhood. Can't mess with the classics.
There are also a lot of great new SJ titles in this new gen of manga. Im really enjoying collecting all these new titles and trying to fill in all the old ones.
Congrats on you collection!
Absolutely amazing
Would be interested in hearing you showing your shojo collection, as a collector that seems to collect more shonen, and explaining why they stood out to you enough to collect!
I’m ready for a new updated manga collection video!!!
Wow awesome freaking collection!! I can totally relate with what you said about One Piece. Volume 1 of One Piece was my first manga ever as well and it’s also the reason as to why I started being more open to watching different anime and reading different manga. Because of that I now have all sorts of Viz/SJ manga such as jjk, demon slayer, dbz, naruto, etc. I am in awe of your collection I hope I can have a collection as big as yours one day 😁
Congratulations on obtaining every title under the Viz JUMP line! That's amazing to see every title there in one room! Since you mentioned it, I'm curious if you'll be interested in talking about Video Girl Ai! I've been looking into wanting to hear about, but it weirdly doesn't get as much love that Zetman and I"s get. Hopefully we'll hear more about that series and just Katsura himself when you have the time! Again Congratulations!
I started watching your channel with that Discontinued video so this was a nice cap on this arc of your channel for me. :)
congrats! I hope to get somewhere near there someday!
big congrats riley!
Great video my dude
Congrats! This pretty much defines the phrase ‘labour of love’, man! Back to my search for vol 13 of Nisekoi…
Really amazed by your accomplishment, Are you still planning to make mangaka profiles ?
wow that's very nice! i do hope i'll start collecting soon, but i am still in my highschool haha
Congrats Ryley! You're a legend! Would you consider doing videos on themes, settings, plot twist, art style, tropes, humour in manga, and your thoughts on them? Or creator spotlights!
amazing collection
You deserve way more subscribers
You finally did it!
This video made me smile.
Congrats man! Now time to collect every manga ever!
Congratulations on this massive achievement!!!
OMG you should do a tier list! That would rake in some views. DO IT!
Congratulations! 🥳
Dude this is insane !
Very cool! Congratulations on your massive accomplishment!!!
Since you're such a huge fan I'd definitely recommend trying to get the art books, lmted vols and other "bonus" items after this that are from the SJ line. I've been collecting "bonus items" from the SB line and I've loved every second of it although collecting memorabilia is a whole new challenge due to the extremely limited amount of information there is out there. Nonetheless I think it's worth it and I think you'd get a lot of enjoyment out of it! Also I really think you should share this with viz, they'd love to see it if they haven't already!
Also I really enjoyed hearing the entire back story and thought process behind this. I'm actually only 180 or so vols away from owning every Shojo manga volume ever published by viz from both their SB and Classic Shojo lines. I really relate to a lot of what you said because I had a very similar process. I never even considered owning all of Viz's Shojo series until I realized exactly how much of it I already owned and already intended to collect. The only things I really did differently was it took me almost a year to make up my mind to try to collect all of the viz Shojo series and I started with the longest ones so as of now the only series over 13 vols that I'm missing is Anonymous Noise.
As far as future content ideas go I think it'd be insane if you made a tier list of all of the SJ and SJA titles. Ngl I'd be very interested to see how you would rank them all up against each other. Once again congratulations and happy collecting!
That montage music was so good
But also, mad respect bro. I’m trying to collect as much manga as I can especially from the shonen jump line. You’ve inspired me 💯🔥
Congrats!!!
dang that is awesome. I too am trying to finish out my manga collection trying to see if I can find em at random stores in my area as like a nice treasure hunt mainly going to Barnes & Noble for the newer series but still got a few older series 2 of which are tough to find
Good stuff
Congrats!
I respect the grind
Should def make a video ranking the titles from the line, would be super fun to watch
Congratulations 🎈🎊🍾 dreams do come true 👍
Goals! I only started collecting last year, and its hard finding some of the older volumes. I'm super jealous.
As a aspiring manga collector I am so proud of you. This is absolutely awesome.
I have 5 volumes of manga so I'm stating out I hope your collection well
That’s awesome! I actually started my manga journey in a similar way- with the Shojo Beat magazine. I kind of want to collect the shojo titles from viz now…
I saw someone on reddit who had every shojo title from Viz that's ever been released and it's the most glorious thing I've ever seen.
Super glad for you. At the same time I'm super jealous, I don't think my tiny checks will ever let me compete everything I want to lol.
8:03 (: i have vol 1-2, 5 & 10-11 of Gintama, vol 1 of Strawberry 100% and soon going to start looking for Reborn! volumes. makes me happy that you mentioned all 3 of these titles. you’re cool, man haha.
i love collecting manga and you are one of the people who made me start collecting i already own 168 volumes of manga
Would love to see your Top 9 and why 👊😎
P.S Awesome collection GGs!🔥🔥🔥
What a collection! 😍
Oh my God how funny is that! You've been looking for I''s whilst I've been trying to sell all of my volumes of I''s lmoa. Still have them too... Glad to see you've got everything though, you love to see it!
Havent seen Kurohime in such a long in anyones collection... really is all of them. Nice to see works of art❤
I have gone though and obtained every monthly shonen jump from 2003-2012. I do recommend you do the same I grew up with these magazines but I wasn’t able to get them when they released. They look great on a shelf covers are awesome too. I obtained mine 2 years ago though lots and auctions off of eBay.
Please make a video of your top 10 favorites!
Editing was on point in this vid wow. There's a anime/manga called Re:Zero that I would highly recommend and I think it would be a good addition to your collection. It's a really good Seinen.
My god that's the most amazing thing I ever seen I like shonon jump I got couple of the story's will be getting more😊👍
I had a big smile on my face when you collected all the volumes for Shaman King in Shonen Jump. I only have most of the Kodansha Omnibus volumes. And I'm planning on getting Shaman king Omnibus 13-15 for Christmas.
What I was hoping the why "I took Omar's manga tour personally!" Congrats, enjoy the reads
Wow, Speechless.
Big congrats on achieving your admirable goal! Would love to know what in your opinion are the most underrated series.
I'd also love to have a look at some creators that only had 1 or 2 short series published (have been reading Bakuman and wondering if there are any real creators who had short runs like Mashiro's uncle)
I have started slowly collecting manga again and the first one I chose to start with is Undead Unluck since I liked the series enough to start dipping into collecting it.
That collection of yours is very impressive. I hope to someday have a collection that strong.
Here's some random questions I thought of as I watched (a great video btw!). Some might support a video, others might just support a segment of a larger video. Definitely feel free to use or re-work any of these if they spark some inspiration!
- What defines a Shonen Jump series? What is it that they have in common? Which series are the biggest outliers that break the mold? What trends did you notice?
- Favorite Discovery or Biggest Surprise: Among the series you collected that you'd never read and maybe weren't originally interested in, which ones did you really like?
- Best by Length: What are your favorite series that only ran a short time; defining short as, say, 5 volumes or less, or maybe 10 volumes or less? What about your favorite mid-length, or long-runners? This could also be a place where you could provide some stats on how many series hit various milestones by volume count, and see what the average or median is.
- Volume Design: What are the most interesting looking volumes? Which have the best covers, the best spines?
Whatever topics you end up covering, I'll be here for it!
What defines a Shonen Jump series is that it runs in Shonen Jump or it’s related magazines such as Jump Squares.
I remember hearing about Monthly Shonen Jump and going with my grandfather one day after school and finding a copy of Volume 1/Issue 6 at K-Mart. I read and re-read it so often, it was like nothing else to me at the time. I remember loving the little preview chapters that they had for Dr. Slump so much that I went out of my way to pre-order it at Books-A-Million, first and last time I ever did that.
Congrats Man. So, your favorite series is Slam Dunk ? That's cool.
id want more specific reviews like you did for jojolion, with other stuff. also tell us what you read, and the hardest ones to collect besides kaguya
Just because I don’t see many others who have the series, I think it’d be interesting to hear you talk about Ultimate Muscle. It got a sequel series that was also pretty lengthy and that’s not even including the original Kinnikuman series or it’s 2011 follow up. It’s a shame we never got the tag team series, but I think it’s amazing Viz didn’t cancel the original Ultimate Muscle during it’s first run. Volumes for that nowadays are crazy high.
Ultimate muscle has a sequel series?? What’s it called never heard of it but I love ultimate muscle. And yea the prices for that series are out the question sadly
@@Zokaru Yeah, it's called "Kinnikuman II Sei: Kyūkyoku no Chōjin Tag-hen", but some fans just call it the Chojin Tag Team series. It started up right after Ultimate Muscle's Japanese run and lasted from 2004-2011. Lasted a hefty 28 volumes too. By the time Viz released volume 29 of the first Ultimate Muscle series it had fallen into obscurity in the US. The anime had been off the air for a while and Namco Bandai stopped localizing the games.
@@vaughngief7698 damn I never knew that. I’m still trying to get thru the original before I re read ultimate muscle so I guess I’ll have even more to get thru to catch up completely lol
This was just incredible - such an impressive collection, and some serious determination to get there!
I’m struggling to get any Kaguya-sama here in Australia, nowhere seems to have most volumes in stock at all. How did you manage to get them all, and did it take forever for this series in particular?
Want to be completely honest dude I keep my hat off of you I'm smiling ear-to-ear this was one of the first media's I got into when I was back in my high school Shoring Jump magazine
