My Dad was born and raised in San Fransisco since 1952. He lived Winterland and Filmore West and the summer of love. His parents took him to Tommy's Joynt for a special day in the city. In 2015, my Dad took me to the same place he grew up with, and it will forever be an important part of my life to share with his. The food was knockout awesome.
Okaaaay I teared up a little when they said Tommy's Joynt almost became condo's. I lived close by for a decade, moved away in 2016 and thought TJ's would be there forever so to hear they were contemplating a change is astonishing. I'm so so happy one of the owners invested & kept it going
My memories of Tommy’s Joynt, as a kid in the 60’s, mean I’m now required to order a french dip everywhere I go, trying to recreate it. Sometimes I get close. Thing is you can’t ever guarantee they’re at the right point of the roast… Luck of the draw, maybe. But I haven’t been able to make it happen again at Tommy’s. That said, I’ve made it there less than once a year for a long time, so not giving it much of a chance. Miss the free pickle barrel! (Was that covid, or previous? Surprised they got pickles in 2018… I may have missed something.) Still love the vibe for sure.
We just went to Beloit for my partners birthday dinner. the food was amazing, but our waiter seemed arrogant and cold. The rest of the wait staff was great. So if you don't care much about service but great food, this is your restaurant.

Tommy’s Joynt is freaking awesome. I love the oxtail special.

SIMPLY THE BEST PLACE FOR EAT
5a5 is no good tried the place twice both times was underwhelming for the crazy prices
The new owners have ruined Tommy's Joynt, way more expensive now.
