I love this idea, and the techniques could easily be applied for other similar second-hand furniture. I'd definitely go single-sink personally, and sandwich it between a fridge and an oven/stove. But it looks SO nice and is a great alternative to just buying normal kitchen cabinets!
Hi guys, first I'd just like to say I've really been enjoying your videos, they're quite informative for someone like me who is thinking/dreaming about building my own tiny house. I've been loosely following your journey and have definitely found inspiration through some many of your own choices. Something that stuck out in my mind during this video was gluing up the left drawer facing. I immediately thought of a clever solution I've seen in a number of regular sized houses. I'm not sure if there's enough room -I'm sure a DIY one could be fashioned out of wood or fabric if the standard ones didn't fit- but search flip/tip/tilt out sink cabinet drawer/tray (I'm not sure if there's a universal name). Essentially it allows the facing to flip open revealing a little rigid pocket for small sink items like the stopper, dish washing scrubbies, etc. Looks like there are kits with a plastic insert or some cabinet manufacturers and kitchen suppliers have metal ones for purchase. Anyways, best of luck, and thanks for inviting us all along for the ride! Here are some examples to give you an idea: www.cabinetmart.com/78-sink-tip-out-trays www.durasupreme.com/storage-solutions/sink-storage-and-recycling#.VZw_B9mCOSN www.shelvesthatslide.com/tip_outs.htm I also want to mention that I am in no way affiliated with any companies or endorsing anything, I'm just someone who loves creative options and efficiency to optimize daily life. Many blessings and positive vibes to everyone reading this.
Hey Guys, This looks so rustic and so cool! I do not live in a tiny house but I do live in a 50 square meter apartment which is around 538 square feet. I am renovating myself and find your videos and your whole channel very inspiring and full of great ideas. Keep it up! Before this place I lived in a 30 square meter apartment and I found it was plenty of space. I think more people should try going smaller. It's never what you have but how you use what you have ;)
It looks really cool!! It would've been nice to have the "drawer" in front of the bigger sink to have a hinge across the bottom where it could tilt out and have a small wrack on the inside for sponges.
Great idea! Was already planning something similar for the bathroom vanity, this has made me wonder which of my current pieces would work best as a kitchenette for my height and back health issues. Cheers for the step-by-step instructions now I can do it myself!
That's really clever! Thanks for showing this. I'm kind of binging my way through your back-episodes, as I'm in a position to make a move towards home ownership sometime in the very near future! You're helping me formulate ideas quite a bit.
Pretty reasonable price, and it doesn't seem like too much work. I'm sure if you get resourceful, you could find or make a lot of the parts even cheaper or free too (like some of those interesting custom pottery sink basins a few of the tiny houses have had).
So so good as always, handyman'ing 101 for people like me who never really think or know what pieces you need to make, for exmaple, a complete kitchenette actually work, and ways you can get what you need cheaper with a bit of MacGuyvering :D End result looks fantastic!
Neil Caldwell Thanks Neil! Yup, our tiny house is rocking along nicely. I'm hoping to have more video of that shortly too. It's been a bit hectic recently as Mel is overseas filming for a travel show at the moment. Hopefully I'll be able to get more updates up very soon! :)
never seen a shallow kitchen sink before, but what a great idea! perfect for messy kitchen prep. Cabinet turned out great btw! Looking forward to seeing it in your tiny?
Elle J Thanks Elle! It was a lot of fun to put together! This one will be going into our belle tent, where we will be living while we build the tiny house. :)
Wow came out really nice. Looks big bucks but I know it wasn't. Very smart... Thanks for the ideas about modifying the drawers. I can see something just like this in a fancy high dollar home furnishing store running over 1000 dollars.
RM Barnes Cheers! Yeah, if you spend some time browsing the internet you really can find some incredible deals. Just have to be patient and wait for the right things to come up! :)
Looks cool. However, I think I would prefer to install one deep, rectangular sink off to one side. Leaving the rest of the space as useable countertop.
Hi glad to see your still around was beginning to wonder what happened to you guys. Have you moved into the Belle tent yet? Will we get to see it when you do? Not wanting to be pushy but I am really interested in seeing how the Belle tent living goes. :) I like your idea this could work in a lot of situations.
Here in the USA a trip to your local Habitat for Humanity will cut the cost considerably, or the free listings on Craigslist. Amazing build liked and sub'd!
Everything looks great but the top left drawer instead of removing it completely, I would've made it so you could bend it down and at least put a couple sponges in it. Or something very small. I just would not have wasted the whole thing. Just my opinion! :-)
I agree, I was thinking that when I saw it also! I would make a shallow drawer (or one that works around the plumbing/sink) as there would be enough room for a some tea towels, sponges/scourers etc..
Liz Hughes Hey Liz! The shallow sink is mostly used for food prep, but can also be used for draining dishes. It's not used all the time, but the chopping board fits over it so it becomes useful bench space when not in use. :)
Should have made the right draw door open downwards with hinges to have a little storage space for what ever people want to place it it..... my dad created something like this to store sponges/ steel wool etc...
This sink unit was nicely done, but the term "kitchenette" implies all the items you'd normally find in a miniaturized kitchen/food prep space, not only a sink area.
Anyone that has ever left a wet beverage container on a piece of furniture like this knows the surface will eventually bubble up. This is nice but I wonder about durability of the surface finish.
I'm very ignorant on the shallow sink's purpose. I'm wraping my brain (little of it..lol) on it. Could you explain it's purpose? Thanks, love the idea of living small and having a big life.
Erin B Patrice Miller Hello! The shallow sink is mostly used for food prep but it's also very useful for drying dishes. It's not used all the time, and so when not in use it can just be covered by a chopping board. Hope that helps! :)
Drew fromOz The height of this unit is about 850mm, so it's quite a standard height. In saying that, I'm very tall, so a standard height is really too small for me. In our house design, we've got the bench top quite a bit higher to compensate for this. When it comes to this unit though, I guess Mel's going to be doing the dishes. ;)
ilan magen This is the kitchenette unit that we will be installing in the belle tent, which Mel and I will live in while we finish building the Tiny House.
Is there suck a thing as SUPER tiny living....I've got to build a kitchenette, office and bedroom into the one room. Way smaller than an average tiny house.
That is genius! How come I never heard about this before its so simple!
Thank you Living In A Tiny House!!
I love this idea, and the techniques could easily be applied for other similar second-hand furniture. I'd definitely go single-sink personally, and sandwich it between a fridge and an oven/stove. But it looks SO nice and is a great alternative to just buying normal kitchen cabinets!
Bryce, you did it again 😁👍👍👍
Absolutely everything that you are doing on UA-cam it’s stunning.

You made this looked so easy!
im looking for exact tutorial like this ! 👌💗💗💗 Thank you sooo much
It looks really cool!! It would've been nice to have the "drawer" in front of the bigger sink to have a hinge across the bottom where it could tilt out and have a small wrack on the inside for sponges.
I was going to suggest pretty much the same thing ... for things like plastic bags and dusters and such ...
This is a great idea. But for the draw under the deep sink I would of made it a fold out draw for soap and clothes, if space permitted.
Wow! Great result...unique and affordable. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice little kitchenette unit. Cute design and great recycling project

I cant stop watching you're videos!!!!
Awesome - thanks for this. I wish I'd had this video when I built my teardrop trailer a few years back.
Great! Saving this for when I do a camper build.
That is Fabulous!!! Going to be saving this video for a future project.
ohh please do more of these videos, i find them extremely helpful as im sure others do!
I seriously want my own tiny house!
Oh my gosh! This is the most amazing thing ever!

LohnS Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. :)
Great to see a video from you guys! Hope all is well and your tiny home is coming along nicely.

Well done. Another step closer. Cheers Paul
Paul Chambers Thanks Paul! :)
Awesome 😎 I enjoyed it.

Elle J Thanks Elle! It was a lot of fun to put together! This one will be going into our belle tent, where we will be living while we build the tiny house. :)
Great idea I need this for my dorm room!
Absolutely LOVE this! Just wish I had the tools to make it!
A very creative and beautiful. I was just wondering what happens when the water spills on the wood ?
This was such an easy tutorial to follow! I like the shallow sink. What could you use it for?
Elsa Rhae Dish drainer maybe?
Elsa Rhae Hey Elsa! The shallow sink is mostly used for food prep. but it's also really handy for draining dishes. :)
That is really beautiful and creative!
And difficult if you are stuck in a domestic violence situation🙂😂😂😂😂
Love love love that!!!! Beautiful!
***** Cheers Amanda!
So cool.
So clever!
Well done and a great idea.
Wow came out really nice. Looks big bucks but I know it wasn't. Very smart...

Lovely video! can't wait to see it installed
Miraikun Cheers! We can't wait either. It's going to look fantastic in the tent. :)
Wow, this video is great!!
I would love to see more tutorial videos
It's so pretty !
Bello proyecto gracias..desde España
that's a really good idea, more turn key than doing the cabinetry from scratch. What are these called in NA? a buffet?
I want this 😍😍😍
Totally doing this!
Brilliant!!
Awesome job - love all your videos.
Here in the USA a trip to your local Habitat for Humanity will cut the cost considerably, or the free listings on Craigslist. Amazing build liked and sub'd!
Looks great !!
Mike Beale Thanks Mike! :)
I love it
Audrey Daigle Thanks! :)
Lovely :-) Very nice work.
Wonderful! Chin-dropped...
I love it...Beautiful!
wow. Wanna do that too!
Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Ого,это видео превосходно!!
Someone finally found a use for those shitty old pine drawers. They get chucked around my place every week or so. But this is excellent.
Everything looks great but the top left drawer instead of removing it completely, I would've made it so you could bend it down and at least put a couple sponges in it. Or something very small. I just would not have wasted the whole thing. Just my opinion! :-)
Mary Carlone Hey Mary! Yup, that's a great idea and could certainly be done. :)
Mary Carlone That is an awesome idea. Thanks))
I agree. That's a wonderful use of space.
I agree, I was thinking that when I saw it also! I would make a shallow drawer (or one that works around the plumbing/sink) as there would be enough room for a some tea towels, sponges/scourers etc..
I think you should come to México and make a cute kitchenette like this for me 😸 i'm serious!
I would love to come to Mexico!
+Living Big In A Tiny House have you ever come to Veracruz, México?
Really nice but what do you do with a flat sink?
Beautiful! I love it!
duujo Thank-you! :)
What about the Evo drain that takes the place of the P-trap? And where can I get that fabulous faucet and sink trio? they're gorgeous.
amazing 😍😍😍😍😂👍👍👍
Great video
Johanna Osk Thanks! :)
What is the shallow sink basin used for? I've never seen one this small a depth before.
I like the shallow basin sink what brand is it .
Great ideas here! thanks!
how do you use a shallow sink? I
For me I am not sure I would use it enough to justify the space.... but maybe!
Liz Hughes Hey Liz! The shallow sink is mostly used for food prep, but can also be used for draining dishes. It's not used all the time, but the chopping board fits over it so it becomes useful bench space when not in use. :)
Nice but what is the shallow sink for? The water will splash all over the place.
can you put the materials that you used at the description box? thank youu
What do you use the shallow sink for? I've never seen one like that.
Cool. I'd never seen one before.
It s cool
Should have made the right draw door open downwards with hinges to have a little storage space for what ever people want to place it it..... my dad created something like this to store sponges/ steel wool etc...
***** Yup, that's a good idea. You could certainly do that also.
what is the length and width of that cabinet?
why is one basin so shallow?
A drainer for the main sink ... but could also be used for washing things like fruit and vegetables ... :)
Who's the guy doing all the building in the video? Also, who's workshop is it?
I was wondering what brand the shallow sink is.
This sink unit was nicely done, but the term "kitchenette" implies all the items you'd normally find in a miniaturized kitchen/food prep space, not only a sink area.
@1:40 never use tools to tighten flexi tails , the torque can damage the rubber seal, the pros tighten these by hand only
круто, чувак! 👍🏻💪🏻
Anyone that has ever left a wet beverage container on a piece of furniture like this knows the surface will eventually bubble up. This is nice but I wonder about durability of the surface finish.

what a good idea
Is that sink a good height for you? Looks a little low......
Drew fromOz The height of this unit is about 850mm, so it's quite a standard height. In saying that, I'm very tall, so a standard height is really too small for me. In our house design, we've got the bench top quite a bit higher to compensate for this. When it comes to this unit though, I guess Mel's going to be doing the dishes. ;)
What is the purpose of the 2nd shallow sink? It doesn't look deep enough to wash dishes in. Seems like a waste of space.
ugh i wish i was able to pull that off
Make me one please
Love the sinks. can you please tel me where you found them? Thanks!
Deedee4457 Hey there. These sinks were found on TradeMe (a bit like ebay in the US). The brand is Reginox.
👍👍👍
I dont know about the video but you are handsome.😄🌸🌸🌸
you should have made the sink edge flush with the bench top. now any water on the bench cant be wiped into the sink. that becomes annoying
what is the reason for the really shallow sink?
zen Hey Zen. The shallow sink is used for food prep, and also for draining. It's actually very useful to have!
did you use it because of the price?
it just seems a bit of a waste of space to me, when surely you can do the same thing with an insert?
How it's all related to your Tiny House project ?
ilan magen This is the kitchenette unit that we will be installing in the belle tent, which Mel and I will live in while we finish building the Tiny House.
👏👏👏😍
