On this day 30 the October,2020, I did a driving experience on the newly constructed Arcades Fly over Bridge on Thambo Mbeki and great East Road Junction.This one of the Bridges being constructed by AFCON for the Zambian Government with support from the Indian Government.

I'm all for development and wouldn't ever wish to take anything away from progress. But just looking at simple comparison to bridges here in the UK a few things stood out. 1. Narrow lanes 2. People walking where there is no pavement. No signage indicating speed, prohibition to pedestrians, thinking of safety. Once again thumbs up to progress just for a modern structure an opportunity was missed to construct something a bit more iconic.
You are so right sir but you know if there was nothing and suddenly there is something, we become excited as if we have reached the western standard
@@Traveltainment true, I felt a bit guilty for saying what I said. But better than to achieve, would be to strive, show the way, be a beacon of hope to other towns, cities and countries. Agree. An opportunity was really missed to construct a better designed & ideed iconic bridge on this vital section of the the city & not a top flyover bridge with a hunch. Safety for pedestrians is truly a major concern at night as criminals might be hanging around there. Anyway, congrats for the bridge.
Yes & we hope that the decongestion problem will be eased for now although we will still have congestion there in the future which future civic leaders will need to continue solving. Thanks

But sure iwe, this development we r seeing now, is a way back one. I hate to see portraits/ pictures of leaders on Bridges/ street poles as if they own anything & everything, messing up the country. Lusaka should be a second or third city by this time, look @ the town center, can't drive during daytime, but nighttime. So what is so exciting? Look for a place to build the capital city

Love towards for Lungu from India🇮🇳🇿🇲
The money for this ridiculous structure has been borrowed and cost 3 times what the actual cost should have been. It is not a fly over, just a bridge following the same Great East road. Anyone that has been to a civilised country knows what a flyover is. It serves no purpose as it just straddles an exiting roundabout and underneath there is no mini roundabout to direct the traffic turning off to the right. There are going to to be accidents under this bridge as not even road markings. It will probably take Zambia 3 generations to pay for this with the level of debt in the country.
