Been living alone for a year and a half. It definitely gets lonely real fast. I ended up getting a dog because I needed company. But background noise is really key! (Spotify, Netflix, UA-cam etc), also MEAL PLANNING or at least writing a general idea of what you’re eating for dinner that week, it’ll save you so much money if you plan ahead! oh and making a schedule (cleaning, when ish you’re going to eat, morning routine etc) so you don’t end up just sitting around moping because you’re lonely 💛

I love living on my own. I am an extroverted introvert. It's nice to come home after work (during more normal times) or after being with friends, to have my own space and recharge. I also can do things without worrying about disturbing others like working out or playing music. I was lonely at first but got a small dog! He helped so much. So that could be a tip! Maybe at some point looking into getting an animal if you're able :)

I moved into my first apartment in June, I was pretty antisocial so I thought living alone would be easy. It was actually really hard to adjust to the first like 3 weeks I’d say. I moved far from family and stuff and because of COVID I couldn’t really go out and things like going to get grocery’s was exciting. But now after about 2 months I’d say it is so worth it. It may be scary and lonely at times but just having my own space and not having to worry about other people is so comforting and it forces me to focus on myself and what I want.

I think not having someone to hold me accountable is the hardest part. If I miss work no one judges me or if I don’t get up or shower or eat no one is there to express concern and when I lived with others I had to “prove” I was capable of things but now I have no one to prove it to except myself and I am guilty of letting myself slip with self care and normal responsibilities. Thank you for these videos and also to anyone considering living alone, do it. I regret nothing.

I bought my own house last year and the first thing I did was paint all the walls pink (seriously, all of them) and having a space that feels like my own dramatically improved my overall mental health. 10/10 recommend making your space feel as homey as possible especially if that means doing something that you probably wouldn’t be able to do if you lived with other people! ✨ much love from Nebraska 💕

I think one thing, especially for first-time-living-aloners, that often gets overlooked is budgeting and paying bills. This applies both to youngsters and older people who have never had to do this for themselves.
It's much easier these days with monthly/yearly etc Direct Debits that go straight from your bank account but when you haven't even done that before it can be daunting.
Another thing is being able to do simple repairs- such as changing lightbulbs, unblocking sinks, replacing a plug or fuse. BUT, with all things, practice makes perfect and independance is a wonderful thing 😊😊

I appreciate the video. I’m assuming this channel is geared more towards women but needed to watch this. Kind of as a refresher that I’m not the only person who lives alone haha. Own a house in a suburb and surrounded by families and couples, can be occasionally depressing seeing everyone else getting along and hanging out and all I do is remodel and renovate by myself at home. But thankfully the good Lord has been giving me amazing blessings in return. Living alone is easy when you can find positivity and happiness within

Thanks for this video it’s very helpful as I’m at a point in life where I have more time to myself and I do find all these things very helpful. As you said the hardest part is the mental barriers (whether it’s forcing yourself to cook, getting comfortable with solo errands, making plans etc). It’s so funny how we know “yeah yeah” those little things help but those little things are really huge for our mental health and well-being.

I completely with background noise. When I'm alone at home it keeps my headspace from going to that lonely place. I also stick to an overall routine in my daily life.

I’m 20 and I’m on day 12 of living alone 16 hours from my family! Going on a hike everyday has helped a ton (i know not everyone has access to that)! It’s a decently safe way to still get out and see people during all this! I also am going to agree to disagree with you on the background noise thing! I found myself always having something on in the back but lately I’ve been truly embracing staying off technology and freely doing what i need in the silence and comfort of my own space! I even started eating without any background noise and it’s crazy how weird it feels! I recommend to connect with the silence of being alone and get comfortable with your own thoughts! It’s skyrocketed my healing journey!

I’ll be moving to my first apartment (renting it) in three weeks and this is so helpful! I’ve been wanting to live alone since I was like four 🤣 so this is a very special time and step for me! For sure they’re going to be risks and lows, but the joy of having my own place, decorate it the way I wanted it, staying up until 3-4 am without annoying anybody is just priceless 😭💕 Thank you for your video! And to everyone else, you’ll achieve your dreams!! 💫 Don’t give up!!

I think living alone or even if you are with someone who works a lot and you are home alone a lot, I think a big one is to find something you enjoy and focus on that...I love reading, writing and cleaning so I try to keep myself busy with that, but also learn to appreciate the alone time and find yourself, your dislikes, likes, etc..get back to who you are as a person...this is for if you are with someone but maybe you are home alone a lot.

I'm moving into my own home tomorrow and will be alone. I lived with my parents until last year when I rented a flat with a flatmate and Covid made our living situation unbearable for me. I'm excited about this but quite anxious about being left alone with my thoughts for too long! Fingers crossed though 🤞

I bought my first place in 2014 when I was 26 and I've never looked back living alone absolutely works for me.
    >Love the freedom without anybody commenting on my living habits
    >Like to recharge my batteries after I've been at work all day
    >Love that I have whole weekends off and have choice to relax and chill or meet up with friends and family
    >I love waking up in my queensize bed with no small talk or anyone asking "so what are your plans today then"😂😂😂
    >I love making quick decisions on how I want my decor or if I want a PS5 tommorow etc
After living this way for 7 years so hard to imagine living with anybody, now I got to find a woman who don't mind living apart thats going to be tricky 💯

I've never lived alone before, but I definitely want to either this year or next year. Even with having roommates, I've always done a lot of things by myself (grocery shopping, going to coffee shops, etc.), so I don't think it'll be that huge of a transition for me. I definitely enjoy having time alone and having my own space.

Another great video from New York Brooke!!! Love you 🥰. When I was in university and lived in residence, I think I had the perfect set up if you didn’t want to life fully alone or with roommates. My roomie and I each had our own bedroom and then we shared a little common space and a double bathroom. It was perfect because I’m an introvert so I got my me time but then I also had a friend right there to hang with ☺️

I am 45 years old and I have lived on my own on and off since I was 20 on and off as I live with my boyfriend for quite a while then we broke up and I also flat shed with a few people but the majority of my time I’ve been on my own with my dog and I would say yes it does get lonely sometimes, but I always talk to my dog even to the point where I ask her what we should watch on TV. One of the things is that living on your own means you don’t have to ask someone else what they would like to watch on tv because it’s only you so you can decide what you want to watch. I must admit that when it comes to keeping my house tidy, I wish there was an extra pair of hands to help me keep my place tidy and getting it done quicker. I also like you said get a bit frightened sometimes as to whether I have locked my door properly or whether everything is turned off as I don’t want to start a fire so in some respects having a man around would be good sometimes, but if I had to choose between living on my own or living with someone else, then I would probably choose living on my own mainly because I suffer with mental health problems and I sometimes want to hide away. I’m doing nothing if there was a second person in the house, then I would feel I can’t hide away. Thanks for the great video
