Yeah I can see why
I LOVE the Arkham Knight intro diner scene, so creative. I've rewatched the "cutscene movies" of these games so many times (especially City & Asylum)
Made the game feel and look like a movie, really impressed me on how it felt the first time I played it
Good work son, the fathers are proud
Thanks Dad

I really love how you broke down the relationship between Batman and joker in the asylum section, but I did notice you failed to mention the dichotomy between Batman’s no kill rule and joker’s main goal of attempting to push Batman past that rule. You mentioned that their battle is never ending because neither side wins but that’s actually not the case; the case is that Batman ALWAYS wins but then always chooses not to kill joker, ever going as far as to actually save his life countless times as joker repeatedly puts his life in danger while making Batman responsible for it. The real intrigue in their relationship is that the authors of these characters always put the audience in a position that makes them want joker dead, just for that desire to be blown away by Batman’s goal of not killing joker shining through as not only the inevitable outcome, but the hidden theme. For instance in city when joker actually dies it’s done at the end in such a masterful way because it really went out of its way to make us want him dead just to finally give us that outcome and spin it on its head making us feel the failure and grief that Batman feels despite saving the day. Truly a master class in story telling
I always say DC is a bunch of gods trying to human (with the exception of Batman) and Marvel is a bunch of humans trying to be gods.
I love your sections that discuss comics and novels. I always find that I learn something new about a universe and it's refreshing that continuity errors are brought up because it feels like you're valuing their worth rather than treating them as disposable like the companies that publish them do.
Thanks, I always find that it breaks the pace and it doesn't seem like others notice them at all.
@@YourFavoriteSon1this is a little late but I enjoy the comic sections as well. Interesting listen for me because I love the universes just never have taken the time to read them
I love how the Arkham series is reflecting to comics and some films . Really explore the whole era of Batman
Thanks for this massive retrospective son. As a huge Batman fan, I ate every one of these up.
Personally, Arkham Asylum still remains my favorite because it stays closest to the source material to me when compared to the others, and maintains a consistent focused, and solid story and interesting easter eggs for characters and obscure villains from the comics (Maxie Zeus and Tweedle Dum, and Tweedle Dee come to mind). I also liked its intro, where you feel something is wrong. I also really liked the chemistry between Batman and Joker, whereas in City, I felt I didn't see remotely enough of him.
But all in all, the entire series is great. I made sure to platinum each game on PS as they came out minus the VR title, because VR headsets make me literally sick, and it's sad that I can't physically experience it.
I hope they can release Suicide Squad in a good state, and I hope it does justice to Kevin Conroy's Batman. He's still the definitive Batman voice to me just like Mark Hamill's Joker. Sad that we won't get more from either of them in these roles but happy we got what we got and crowned off the series.
While I did watch this entire retrospective, just wanted to ask what your take is on how Arkham Knight ended. What was your take on that epilogue scene! Cheers
one of the best video game reviewers ive ever seen, you always deliver with these videos. great work
I'm sorry but I completely disagree about the Deathstroke battle. That fight is my second favorite boss in the entire Arkham series. I died SO many times fighting him
I agree, I think he’s not that good at the combat, you can see through the vid so I see why he didn’t like it. The death stroke fight is one of the best ever. But overall his video is amazing.
I had to put it on the hardest difficulty in order lose to Deathstroke
Awesome fight none the less
Yessss, one of the best youtubers who does retrospectives!
Another great job son. I always look forward to your work. Keep it up all the fathers are proud!!
Thanks Dad
lets go!!
i´ve waited for the full video..
and thx 4 your work man, love it

@@YourFavoriteSon1 😁
Been waiting for this son. I’m proud
Excellent job son! On the topic of Arkham Origins I personally think it was a decent choice to not add too much to combat and gadgets because it would be weird if Batman in the game was more advanced than in a game set almost a decade later. As far as the character designs I always took it that this was before everything started getting more fantastical, as in Bane wasn't using enough or as potent venom and Croc hasn't furthered his mutation all that much. In Arkham Knights dlc with Croc they showed him even more monstrous and referenced him advancing his mutations with genetic tech thefts.
Been waiting for this to drop
perfect video to watch while i’m at work lol thank u
Good video I have watched so many retrospectives lol
The only reason thr Jason Todd surprised me was because the dev said in interviews that the Artkham Knight was meant to be a new character. I was pissed, felt lied to.
46:24 you missed purrfectly fine way to say catnapped. Ah glorious dad jokes.
I can see how much better you got at not getting hit by the time the City clips started.
New to the channel, I love Ur content already
The electrocutioner was the most difficult boss in the series
The First Time i fought him i was scared... i was so in the Batman mindset, but i didn't realize that Batman knew he was a bluff... so epic
Al Father's day video and a compilation of the Arkham games? No wonder you're the favorite son.
son I'm constantly crying tears of pure proud essence
hello son i love the bats man video
bats
😅
I love all these games for different reasons. Asylum has the best atmosphere and story and is the most replayed by me, Arkham city has the best bosses, and Arkham knight has the best gameplay and graphics. But they are all great and the voice cast being the animated series cast is something I love about it, I pretend they are the same universe
Honestly I don't think WB were allowed to do a lot of new stuff, since Rocksteady were working on Knight, they restricted WB on what they could innovate on. Plus I think they were limited on time.
I don’t like leaving negative comments but boy does it hurt to watch you attempt free flow combat
Good video tho
fucking love hour long videos about games ive already played
You read my mind!
3:11:09 I wish we had gotten some sort of dlc or comic scenario if this had happened. Batman, not trusting himself due to the joker mind infection, follows through with locking himself up and Robin and Nightwing have to team up to defeat Scarecrow and The Arkham Knight. (Perhaps with Batman adopting the sort of Oracle role from the satellite Batcave at the Movie Studios?)
That'd have been sick.
58:33 remote medical charge
also HOW DARE YOU HATE ON THE DEATHSTROKE BOSS FIGHT! IT'S AN AMAZING BOSS FIGHT!!!
Just here to remind you that me and mother are very proud
Thanks Dad
There is one character quasi-introduced in Batman: the Animated Series... I say quasi-introduced, because the character himself is part of the DC Universe, but, not this particular user of the character mantle... that they really should have put into, at least, one of these games.
That character is Templeton Fugit, the Clock King. This is a character who should have taken the mantle into the DC Universe from the cartoon in the same way as Harley Quinn. But, while they have brought in new versions of the Clock King in the comics, not Templeton Fugit.
He is nothing but an OCD, middle aged lawyer, obsessed with time management, who had a psychotic break. Yet, with his mastery of time management, in his very first encounter with Batman, he escaped without giving, or taking a hit. Taskforce X used his planning to steal from the Justice League's headquarters. He even got a temporal device in one episode to give him time-speed and slowing powers. Templeton Fugit honestly deserves a place in the comics, as a whole. I quite honestly have always seen him as the greatest shining star villain of the Batman: the Animated Series universe.
But, back to the games, this is a character who could have used Psycho Mantis attacks against Batman, knowing how to avoid his attacks with use of timing in the environment around him.
My brother is obsessed with this series and this is one of many games (Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Sekiro) that I have watched retrospectives on to surprise him with:)
Hey son, it's been a while since I checked in on you. I'm so proud to see you do your thing. Glad I found you again
Pass me my cigarettes, and get me a couple of beers, so I can watch this little video you made, Son. If I'm still here by the time it's over, then that means you've made your Dad proud. If not, then have a nice life, you disappointment🤣
1:55:44 why do you sarcastically add the word _technically_ to describe the remote claw? It WAS a totally new gadget and mechanic. And not a blatant reskin like the glue/ice grenades. It’s not the line launcher, it’s totally different from line launcher. You can’t use line launcher to knock enemies into each other or fire extinguishers into enemies etc. And you can also use it on gargoyles, not just specific anchor points. Being able to pick up enemies and hang them off gargoyles was great and invaluable for completing challenge rooms at speed.
Hey son, your father can't come to the phone at the moment, but he wanted me to tell you that your father and I are very proud of you! ❤
I have been waiting for this moment I have been awakened
hope you enjoy
Thank you
you're welcome
Now being a new dad I can finally say, I’m proud of you son.
Rise up sons and dads
We get it can y’all stfu already
When I fight in Batman Arkham City I feel like a god, and I fuel this by both upgrading everything no matter what and going straight to my target, wether they have a gun, blade, or anything like that or not, and I duplicate it to every enemy, I don't care when I get shot, hit, or sliced, I just go for the kill, and almost all the time it works and I win the fights.
"new combat style that changed the genre for years"
you mean prince of persia 2 combat. It was literally button for button price of persia 2. and it was amazing.
I remember really really enjoying the character models in AA. Inspecting every detail of each character
Great work as always, son. Have you ever thought about doing the Crysis series?
Now I don’t know if it was ever in Arkham continuity but didn’t you skip over the Assault on Arkham animated movie because I could of sworn it was a in universe movie. So a little disappointed it wasn’t covered in the retrospective.
Have to put the movie sections on my Patreon due to copyright
1. City
2. Asylum
3. Knight
4. Origins
2:20:04 Not the electricity.
That "venom" he injected was essentially his own rough prototype to the "Titan" formula from Asylum.
It was imperfect and damaged his mind when he used it resulting in him losing his memories of Batman's identity.
You’re doing a fine job, son. You are not a failure.
Thanks Dad
I have a complaint about origins that you never touched on. The grapnel boost. In Arkham City Alfred said "It's still in the prototype stage" and yet SOMEHOW it exists in Origins.
They had to put it in the game otherwise traversal would be boring
@@LouisClark07 they could have let us actually fly the Batplane or, better yet, give us the Batcycle or whatever it's called.
@@keyblademasterclark "STILL" in prototype phase. The Arkham Origins suit is different to the Asylum/City suits. IT's rigid armour plates and takes the g force of the boost in Arkham Origins well. Had he used that boos in the City suit, he would have dislocated his shoulder... at best. The Boost in City is a different one he's redesigning for use in his new suits.
@@undertakernumberone1 I'd believe that if the one in Origins felt any different from the one in City.
I am very proud of you, son.
YYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS NEW BACKGROUND NOISE
2:43:00 You can shoot, but you don't have to.
I believe it actually affects the "fate" of this minor character a bit too, info is brought up elsewhere commenting on how this moment went based on your reaction.
That feeling when your favorite son remembers it Father’s Day
Happy fathers day
The Batmobile Combat is basically just "Arkham Core 6" and that's pretty neat.
My favorite part of Knight is after you lock up Tim you can go back in and tell him about Barbara, ya know just to be the ultimate asshole to him lol
fact: the guy who killed batmans parents saved 100's of lives
I feel the pwnbox thing was a smidge unfair, hacker terminology can be cringe, but it is the terminology that's used.
Go grab me a couple beers and pass me the bong
4 hours of all the batman games snd comics?
Make your dads proud son
By the way, this isn't to important, but a group of a specific hero's villains is called a rogue's gallery
I'm so proud of you, son.
Hey man, I think you should do the Siren series! Would be just as amazing as your Resident Evil videos, imo, because of the similar style
I actually think it makes sense that the combat in Origins is very similar to how it is in City since the Batman you play as in Origins isn't nearly as experienced. It would make sense that Batman would improve his combat skills and such over time as the years go by
The God’s have smiled upon thee son
Ah, a classic. Good choice son.
This video really made me feel like Batman
You did good, son. And I'm glad you covered everything. Another channel chose not to cover some games and that's sad
I love this series. I’m actually getting ready for a replay of the trilogy (minus origins) and this was one of my gateways into DC and Batman who has become my favorite superhero. And people are always surprised when I say Knight is my favorite. Would love to see vids on the Insomniac Spider-Man games and Telltale’s The Walking Dead
You should play the Origins Campaign. Its good
51:35 no it’s always the games fault when I get hit or die 😂
I'd love to see your retrospective on X-Com and XCOM games.
This video gets me through college
felt like watching a tomb raider retrospective but I want it the YOURFAVORITESON way, plz consider it especially the first era of the franchise, I'll be waiting for it.
not a bad idea
The Arkham Knight comics are definitely not canon. For example in Arkham Knight it is a reveal in Jason Todd's character bio that is origin is the same he had in the comics however in the Arkham Knight comics his origin is different with him meeting Batman after a battle with Joker. Another major contradiction is being. In Arkham Knight it is revealed that Bane went back to reclaim Santa Prisca that have been plagued by drug lords However in the Arkham Knight comics he is killed by the Jason.
Havent finished the video, but i love your style.
Also, my take on the batman and his villians thing is that while alot of them are still around due to batman, and some even were created by him (one joker origin story) i feel that somr were inevitable.
Penguin for one is just straight up a mobster. He'd have appeared no matter what.
Same with Zhaz.
But i think, and this is personal opinion, a lot more of them (the villians) and normal citizens would have died.
I could see them using lethal force on joker and some of the less superpowered ones as a means to prevent more loss of life.
So while batman caused a good few of them, his no killing rule actually prevents the deaths of some of the villians.
son..
You made all-father proud😀❤️
But when you were naming batman villains
You forget my fav Deathstroke🔥
I really liked this video. You did a great job highlighting each game but also giving them constructive criticism. You should do a similar video after Marvels Spider-Man 2 releases and title it:
Insomniacs Spider-Man: A FULL series retrospective
4 hour Batman retrospective? Don’t mind if I do
I only disliked the cobra tanks and stealthing aspect. And making bosses into cobra tanks. But the regular drone moments and the riddler puzzle usage i loved the batmobile for the most part.
Officer BALLS…
If you had go pick which would you say was the best story out of the 4 games
The best was probably City, but Knight was my favorite.
Man, I am so sorry for you: so much passion put into this video (Investigation) but such a low view count.
God you have such a smooth voice 🫠
Batman IS the most recognized super hero in existence. Then superman, then spiderman.
in regards of Croc not benig as "Comic like" in Origins... well, that's not true. Croc's appearance has varied over the times and sometimes he was just a guy with a skin condition. Same wiht Bane. Especially his earlier appearances usually just had him "Very buff" instead of super buff.
Batman also fighting very similar and having the same gadgets also makes sense since, well, you can't really give him much newer/better stuff. It is a prequel.
Imho, Origins had a more interestnig set up that was wasted compared to Knight. But... I hink Knight for me was more of a let down, with more Riddler overkill, wasting Deathstroke and so on.
I'm sorry but I had to stop when you said the bosses in origins are repetitive. especially with what you said with Deathstroke
holy
Not now, but I guarantee you I will watch this whole video later
I will send my thoughts later
Good job son, I'm more proud than Thomas Wayne
Probably my second favourite gaming series after the dark souls series...amazing games...i think all 4 are good even great...origins is just great the other 3 are amazing
gonna keep it a buck chief, the sony spiderman game took from treyarch's take from the spiderman 2 movie game, aside from that fantastic vid overall love your work dude(:
This combat system was used incredibly well in Sleeping Dogs
I can tell this is the remaster just from Arkham asylum’s big ol lips
Oh yeah, they were doing a Suicide Squad game weren't they...
"Delayed until febuary of 2024, a full year later"
Lol, yikes. Yikes at the delay, and yikes I had zero recollection if it released or not.
Sorry but the playstation Spider-man games do not have a version of this games combat system, it doeskt even control the same.
Spider-Man is dodging and weaving, batman is counter attacking
all this just for suicide squad to completely fail
Arkham Origins was the first game I have pre-ordered. It was also the first game that showed me why I should never pre-order games. It was a valuable lesson.
Origins is great
@Jasonsjustbetter It wasn't at launch. There were multiple *unavoidable* game-breaking bugs in the Riddler missions. How have they missed those during QA, I will never understand. One day after launch, there were dozens of videos on YT on how to glitch around the buggy sections to be able to complete the missions. It took them about two weeks to release a patch.
23:05 you mean complicit not compliant
Honestly if they stopped at Arkham City. I would be happy.
Everyone should watch the clip from Warwick Davis' show _Life's Too Short_ where his secretary fails to recognise Val Kilmer as Batman. It's quite humorous.
