Wow. The new manual Plus Four sounds like it could be the sweet spot in the whole Morgan range. No-one drives a Morgan to go 180mph or win a Drag Race. On paper, when it comes to the pleasure of driving, this car sounds like a real winner. I hope they sell plenty of them.
Edit: I can't wait for the next post when you drive it.
Tbf the idea of a drag racing Morgan sounds pretty cool
Best Morgan design I have seen in decades. Beautiful.
GET THE MANUAL!
That image at about the 9 minute mark made me smile. How many modern automobile technicians carry a mallet and a wood chisel in their tool boxes??? ;^)
I absolutely love it. Still fast, available in a manual, fuel efficient....this is the one to have over the six cylinder surely.
Josh Charlie the auto trans offers better acceleration.
Andrew Hewes imperceptible improvements at best, not to mention that outright acceleration isn’t high on the list of must haves when buying a Morgan
@@rare6499 Good call. A drivers car, not a drag car. Manual all the way.
The manual gear knob is legit.
A fat gearstick?
The BMW shifter looks so inappropriate
@Viktor Sligo It is from ZF, not from BMW. ;-) The Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio have the same shifter. But you are right, looks frightening to me. Proper way to drive a car like this is a manual gearbox, unless you dont have legs anymore or something.
@Viktor Sligo yepp.
ikr
It took me a while before I realized that dude upstairs...was a cardboard cut-out.
That freaked me out too when I was there.
bahaha I had to pause the video and was like wtf?
@@michaelj7069 I visited the Factory rougly 5 times while my traditional Plus 4 was being built last year. Everytime I saw that cardboard cut-out, without fail I got a fright lol.
Dooby Poppop LoL that’s epic.
@@michaelj7069 aye it's been a canny journey! If you'd be interested in following Hurri (my Morgan) on her adventures, her new insta is mogofthetyne :)
Absolutely amazing, bucket list stuff. I'm so, so happy that Morgan has an open mind on what a classic car can be. Without a doubt, this is the best of both worlds and I can't contain my happiness seeing classic craftsmanship in a harmony with proper engineering. Well done Morgan!
Me and hubby went on the factory tour last summer, real nice couple of hours, my old man being in the motor trade for the last 46yrs, 35yrs running his own garage always used to say, a over priced kit car, but after the tour he soon changed his opinion, so labour intensive, but the end result is fantastic, he liked also they made an electric Morgan, but was being held back due to a supplier went bust or something on those lines, we well recommend the tour, and the cafe is nice as well.
Great job of describing this absolutely gorgeous automobile!
Great Video Preview. Looking forward to watching the first drive review
I had to wash my eyes out of that Bentley crap so I clicked on this video
Have you heard of Bristol?..... haha
I once owned a 1962 Morgan plus 4 with an Austen-Healey enginge. I was in love with that car....if only it ran! It spent more time in the shop than it did on the road, primarily due to over heating issues. Still, I loved it for all it's quirks including that despite the electric starter, you could still hand crank the engage. And I suppose the most 'English' aspect of the car, and a nod to when cars were driven by chauffeur/mechanics, was that in the instruction manual it reminds the driver to "periodically tighten all bolts." :-)
Thank you. That was lovely. One month. What a wait!
What a beautiful car. I love it. Still amazed at the wood work that goes into it.
This thing is amazing, I'd love a green one with tan interior
Such a lovely car,hand made in a traditional environment,sums up it's speciality.
Excellent review! Love the car
Love a Morgan, ever since standing outside the factory in the early 60's with my father!
Brings back many memories of when I was in my teens and early 20s in England in the 1960s. One of my uncles owned three cars - a Jaguar sedan for business use, and a Jaguar E-type and a Morgan Plus Four for pleasure. As I was a car fanatic at the time, and a rally driver, we both spent many happy hours driving the cars around the countryside at very high and very enjoyable speeds. That was in the days when you didn't have to be ridiculously wealthy to own cars like this - I think from memory an E-type was around 2500 pounds!
edward cameron-reid It was around that at the time of introduction. Average income was less than £900/annum, and a normal house cost less than an E-Type. You did have to be at least seriously comfortably off to afford one - the numbers were just smaller.
What a lovely car for spirited drives on back roads! 😍
Any changes on the producing/filmmaking side? The image looks particularly beautiful!
Cheers!
Can't wait for the Morgan Five Wheeler
I pray there will never be a Morgan SUV.
@@NuclearGrizzly I pray you didn't just give them any silly ideas, given the stupid decisions Aston, Rolls, Bentley, Maserati and Lambo made in the last few years. Those top end SUV's are about the dumbest, most impractical cars ever. People who buy those them don't have brain tissue. Instead they have a mass of excess testicular tissue inside their skulls. Yes I know, women don't have testicular tissue, but women don't buy them.
@@lesflynn4455 Three wheeler SUV then! Thanks mate!
@@lesflynn4455 Maybe a 3 wheel SUV? 😁😁😁
@@lesflynn4455 when i saw the teaser photo i thought that they've built an SUV 🤯
When you do the drive video go through Barnards Green and up Court Road, I live in Malvern and it would be nice to see them! lol
Great video. But do "we" get a RH drive version to drive in one month?
We've had a lovely '62 +4 for 48 years, it's totally refurbished; this edition is a more than worthy successor.
I am so envious of all you Morgan owners!
Luckeee!
- Napoleon Dynamite
Wait, that morgan comes with a manual gearbox mated to the 4 cyl? Is supra getting it?
"I bought a Plus.Six!"
"Good for you... I bought a Plus.Four... and a brand-new second car as a daily runaround with the change... and mine has a manual six-speed... and a really nice gear lever that actually matches rest of the car!"
The man using a hammer and chisel in the back ground. Classic
2:58 Guy up on the balcony is enjoying himself
What time is it Jimmy two watch?
Do you know if a Plus 8 is in the works?
I wish I could afford one. A truly handbuilt car. I'm glad they are still being made one at a time.
Excellent insight, just in the market and learning about the models.
Here’s a question to the knowledgeable Morgan enthusiasts. I want to buy one for the odd short tour, Ireland etc not the world. I have an option for a one owner FSH 25000 miles ‘17 model with the Ford GDI engine for £36k or the later BMW model £60k, I know they are totally different cars underneath but is there 25k worth of difference and extra fun in owning one.
I like the thick BMW style steering wheel, so conducive for driving feel.
Ash frame . Wired edges . Ya dont see that anymore, sporty)

Indeed, it’s an art form now in the 21st century but back in the early 1960’s it’s the way I was taught. Wooden bucks, various panel hammers, flippers, dollies & if the panels were steel and had to be repaired there was no plastic filler for final “fettling” we used lead & tallow fat or metal finished them. It’s good to see those skills still in use in a world of replace or throw it away. The downside is those skills aren’t cost effective and if you want them you have to pay the price. Would I buy one ? If I was younger without a doubt. Ahh Nostalgia.
Maybe there are good reasons why nobody else uses these materials
@@allensaunders449 It saves them money, thats the biggest reason
@@jamesshives5679 you are probably right
They're not made out of wood because ash is better. Cost, labour, regional materials, these were all things at a high premium after WW2. Make due with what you have.
How are they going to sell the Plus 6 now?
Looks lovely. Much want.
My favourite British car maker has a new modern plusfour, awesome!👍🏻
Amazing mix of old and new... the only one in the world building a traditional sports-car
Looks like an export model: driver on the left. Who sells these in the USA (or do they at all?).
Yes Morgan sells these in the U.S.
Morgan Dealers:
New England Morgan Copake
Mid-Atlantic Morgan Harrisburg
Morgan of Morgantown West Virginia
Motorcycles of Charlotte Morgan North Carolina
Christopher John Morgan Daytona Beach

North Shore Morgan Chicago

@@buickboy92 If I were able to by a Morgan, it would *have* to come from Morgan of Morgantown, West Virginia.
@@seikibrian8641 Definitely 👍
Does it ship to USA
Looks stunning!
Beautiful new+4💓❣️
Can I order this in California? Is there a better car for my life in wine country?
I'd buy one. It's a crafted machine built for a modern life. Well done Morgan.
Loved the shot of a fella with a HAMMER!!!
When’s the electric version coming out?
What a fantastic car. Tragic we don’t get it in Canada.
I believe, subject to correction, that you can import but it requires a special permit and the car cannot be sold.
I absolutely love the look of a Morgan. I've only seen one in person once. I hope to be able to afford one some day. Its a little sad they didn't put a British engine in it. Why not a Jag V6 engine in it? Morgans configurator is the only car configurator on the net that lets you spec any color. Thanks.
They've been having a good run with bmw since the aero
Wouldn't be surprised if the three wheeler somehow ends up with the new bmw 1800cc air cooled boxer at some point
I owed a Morgan back in the 70s. I sold it when I left the UK. This new Morgan looks beautiful! I would love to place an order for one....one problem I live in the US!! Such a damn shame!
Tam Jacobite They are sold in the US. Have been for decades, at least 60 years to my direct knowledge.
Kevin Twining really. How do you register a car with no air bags or 15 mph bumper? The only ones I have ever seen are from the 1960s or older.
Pre all the safety stuff and pre unleaded has. Youngest I have seen here in NYC was a 2+2 with the TR4 engine.
Tam Jacobite Don’t ask me - all I know is that there are 8 dealers for Morgan across the US. They are a low volume manufacturer, so maybe they have some exemptions.
Kevin Twining thank you for info
I’m drooling
What a magnificent car :)
I want one!
Is the plus four still a four seater?
That is a lovely cardigan Drew
I've always wanted to visit the Morgan factory
When they announced this car I was worried it would be auto only, glad to see that's not the case. I wonder what the wait time is on one...
Which is going To be the waiting time?
All Morgans are made by hand? Wow what a car.
Great to see a manual version will be available, and at the £60K mark. I think this might be my new Morgan. Does anyone know if the Plus 6 manual is being developed, ?????
Beau-ti-ful...now I want one.
Havent seen it yet but i know Its gonna be good!
what price?
Thought they used a wood beam in the frame of some cars. In the sides. Was covered one time before.
So its a wooden Supra/Z4?
Awesome!
I wish we could get these in the states
My uncle restored a right hand drive Morgan 2 seater
Mark Wagner You can. For decades now.
All good stuff including the ash woodwork, *but* there's no need to have a key entry on the steering column, when it could be straight ahead on the dash, with an electric solenoid hitched to lock out the column when the car's not in use.
Gray with brown/chocolate (ish) interior; hot damn
My dream garage would have 3 morgans atleast including the 3 wheeler
I really like it. In particular: looks like the 4cyl engine sits well behind the front axle. This front/mid chassis should give nice, neutral handling. Make it more flickable, with turn in.
Everybody says they love Morgan but they don't buy one
Harsh reality my friend
I, like some others, am struggling to muster up the necessary petty cash to buy one... :D
@Roger Dodger 30,000£ for the three wheeler
I love Jenny Agutter, always have, but never married her, go figure?
@Roger Dodger alot of other cars cost more. People for the most part don't really want one
Have a look at the l/h spotlamp @ 7:42 I don't the the rubber grommet is properly seated, @ 62/64K everything should be perfect.
Magnificent car. The big dream - for the moment. Maybe one day....
A very beautiful car. :)
Love it
beautiful
Nearly 500 kg lighter...? The plus six isn’t exactly a heavyweight. Is that figure correct?
500 kg lighter than the toyota supra with the same 4 cylinder engine !
The steel chassis on the ‘old’ car actually dates from 1936 !
That lower grill doesn't look right. It looks like a chrome bumper has fallen off.
I think that might actually be intentional. Taking off bumpers was a common performance enhancement, and I guess they do it from the factory now haha
Would be _much_ better if they did a nice chrome bumper like an Xk140.
Would potentially look better if painted black. (the lower bumper thing)
Nobody will say nothing about the fact that car is gorgeous?!
I would prefer the skyactive-X Mazda engine and gearbox
Hmm. I am fine with keeping the overall shape the same but I start to loathe their ancient handling of details. Especially the lights/rear light pods/orange blinkers start to look really lame and you could make some amazing stuff with LEDs that would still match the Morgan look very well.
TheRealFLX81 please never design anything ever
I’m hoping for a PlusThree now 😀
Is this car painted in Dove Grey?
Long live Morgan !
Just bought a second-hand 'old' plus 4, having hired twice from factory - I highly recommend anyone to give it a go for a weekend or a week; a day isn't long enough. Car is totally impractical, noisy, bumpy, rather cramped, has no power-steering, and the roof probably leaks a bit - but absolutely wonderful fun, fun fun! I agreed the auto lever looks weird on the new car, but if you want an auto, have one. I'm for manual. But, where's the racing 'fly-off' handbrake? It always sorts the men and women from the boys and girls!
Fantastica da collezzione
It's a shame the only Morgan with a proper roof was soooo expensive. A manual one of these in coupe form would be awesome, same with the plus six.
Damn, love it
Who in their right mind would buy this in an automatic?
Only a person who cannot physically drive a manual but loves Morgans 🧐
Dave Taylor because they just don’t know how to drive manual
@@nf9563 Maybe, some things, you're never too old to learn! ;^)
I would
@@nf9563 Someone with a disability. If for example they have had their left leg amputated or it is paralyzed or something else and can't use the clutch. Or only have one usable arm.
Brilliant, full-stop! Only question, are you decapitated in a roll-over?
Not if you duck.
damn i love the way this car looks, but i am not richard hammond so i can simply not afford buying a car without a roof, its useless here in austrian alps. morgan should make a cabriolet version of these things
It is a cabriolet (go check the car configurator on their website). I'm more worried whether it has side windows or not.
I like the automatic shifter. I like the automatic transmission. I think it is a really good design.
USA distribution? Pretty please?
Beautiful cars built in an awesome and old school shop. Are y'all hiring? I'm sure I could put tires, or as you say in Britain: tyres, on them.
I gotta love a car company that tells you their automatic transmission is "going to be to nobody's taste" and encourages us to buy the manual. Hell yeah!
Damn somehow I now want a Morgan, and I'm not 59 but 19 😅
We are not to different then my friend
Me too
U got taste.
AND £20k less than a Plus 6 (according to him). So why would one go for a +6 on this type of car???.
Love it.
best kit car in the world, when you brake it down thats all a morgan is, parts from all over the automotive industry.
I absolutely love the looks of a Morgan and I’m glad they’re stepping away from those pos Ford engines but the one reason I’ve never bought one is the wood.
Imagine GOING 149mph in this...
