Rope Dart and Meteor Hammer Beginner Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 тра 2024
- This tutorial is aimed at beginners who want to start learning the rope dart or meteor hammer.
I explain some basic moves that you can perform with this unconventional weapon.
These so called "soft weapons" teach you to move your body in flowing motions and can be used to supplement other martial arts or to express yourself in flow arts. - Спорт
Imagine a guy with a thing like this in a zombie movie
As someone who has picked up other flow arts, as well as grew up training with nunchaku and whatnot and doing tons of mma, this is the perfect beginners video for both crowds, man :) killed it, good job, thank you very much!
Very good tutorial, even for absolute beginners. Well explained, carry on with this. Can't wait for more...
Thank you! :)
Nice! Never seen this before other than maybe in a movie in some sort of a kind. Looks gracious and very meditative.
It's 2.30 and I just discovered this exists and am getting exited about it
I loved the video, your voice was pleasant and the background music was perfect. Good job! Keep it up!
My girlfriend and I just decided to try rope dart and we watched this video. It was immensely helpful in getting the basics down! Thank you!
Great you and your girlfriend are starting it together 😄
@@Vultimo It was her idea haha. She got inspired by Castlevania.
@@ryanchall5333 Hah, great, the video game or the anime?
@@Vultimo In this case the anime. I'm not normally an Anime fan, but I make an exception for that show since I loved it too.
I also really enjoyed that particular anime 😁
I am just starting with the dart! So your video here is helping me get started on my journey! I do have some knowledge of flow from poi! I'm anxious to get started! Thank you so much for this video!
Always fun to watch and listen to you!!!
Great skills and great video! Thank you for sharing.
great tutorial thankyou, I notice you seem to prefer to work bare foot aswell, I always struggle somewhat with sidekick shots in winter when I have to wear shoes. A lot of people seem to worry about catching a foot with the dart but I'm sure the extra sensitivity is worth the risk.
Great tutorial very comprehensive and easy to follow but I need MORE you should totally do more tutorials with rope dart I’ve seen your video with flow and target practice please show me how I can do that step by step
Thanks for this tutorial! While I'm not planning on learning to handle this weapon, I'm planning on making a character that weilds it! It really helps to see a slow breakdown of the technique needed to use this weapon!
I do have a question, if you're willing to answer. Do you think someone would be able to efficiently use this weapon while wearing loose fitting clothing (such as a big hoodie or even a skirt), or would that hinder the weapon's movement too much?
Hey, I'm glad that I could help with the inspiration!
From my experience, it's actually quite difficult to wield a rope dart when wearing long and loose clothes because the rope tends to get caught in long clothing, since the rope actually moves around your body quite a lot.
Thank you so much! I feel like I have a talent for this, as I use my measuring tape on work to do similar motions as you show :)
Thanks for this video I tried basics today
Very nice video, definitely hope some more are coming soon as you do an excellent job of explaining the moves and when to react base on the contact of the rope.
Love a video on neck and body wraps. While my body wraps are getting better, I'm still too hesitant to try neck wraps as I realty don't want to take a hit. 😂
I now know what I’ll be doing this summer, thank you
Haha, glad I've inspired you 😄
Wow cool I want to try this
I really enjoy watching this and definitely will try soon. Thanks
I'm glad you enjoy it! 😁
좋은 강의 감사합니다 ^^
Very good tutorial buddy, im going to make my own and start practicing your basics, thanks you very much
Thank you! I'm glad to inspire people 😊.
Good stuff. Yeah I as a slacker, was practicing this using a monkey knot over a 1" ball bearing, must keep at it. Great video.
This is great. You are very good at it. Thankyou👍👍🇬🇧
Thanks a lot! 😄
Cool tutorial, I'm working on the windmill
Great tutorial, thank you.
Thanks, hope you'll try it out yourself :)
Excellent tutorial. Thanks for the time and effort to make it.
Thanks a lot! Glad you appreciate it 😊
@@Vultimo to get to the standard of skill you have how long have you being practicing with the hammer?
I've been practicing for about 1.5 years on and off. However, I had some prior experience with flowing weapons such as the staff, chain whip and the montane/spadone.
Great tutorial! Very clear 👏👏👏
Thanks a lot! 😁
Nice video 👌 thanks
Thankyou kindly for this video.
An absolute beginner with rope dart (played with hoops and poi), have yet to even make the prop. However im very excited for this prop, your video has been super helpful and clear, visualing is more than half the game, i appreciate a very comprehensive tutorial and good tips.
Thanks a lot for the feedback :) I'm also a visual learner ;)
I think it would be cool if Sailor Venus has a weapon, it would be known as the Venus Meteor Hammer. And yes I'm a major Sailor Moon fan and the reason why is Venus' Cressent Beam Shower aka Venus Meteor Shower
Wrong video?
I made mine a bit smaller, because I want it to be concealed, and the dart itself I carved it using construction grade wood so its very hard and the other elements of my rope dart like the chain and flag, I found it while dumpster diving, so the only thing I brought was the rope and some heat shrink tube to secure the knots.😊
Cool!
This tutorial is amazing
Thank you 😄
Super dank!!!
I’m doing foam fighting with my neighbours and wanted to do a rope dart, this is a wonderful tutorial and allowed me to show off a bit! Thank you
You're welcome, glad to hear that you're having fun with your foam weapons 😄👍
@@Vultimo I’m still working on the windmill, but the forward shot I’m decent at for sure.
Great, you'll get the windmill as well 😉👍
heak ya i gonna make one
This is an amazing tutorial, thank you so much 😁 I'm just curious though, how do you tie that whole rope into a shorter one where you can wrap it around your body? 🤔
Thank you!
I learned this body wrapping method from this video:
ua-cam.com/video/2R4fKmekiic/v-deo.html&ab_channel=acidblood13
I imagine I will hit myself in the head zand legs quite a lot starting out, but I want to try this. I have a staff I work with for exercise, but these are different movements, so I think I'll try to incorporate it.
That sounds great! I actually did a lot of staff training before the meteor hammer and the concept of continuous movements definitely translates from one to the other.
Can you do a part two
Awesome video! Really helpful. I just recently quit most video games and I want to improve myself, and found that you are interested in rope dart and bladed weapons like me.
Just wondering, what age did you start? I hope I am not starting late at fencing, rope dart, etc
I started doing staff and sword when I was around 18, then did some unarmed martial arts (thai boxing, aikido, karate), got into HEMA for a while and at around 24 started with flexible weapons like meteor hammer ;)
@@Vultimo are you going to make more videos? The tutorials are perfect 🥰
Thank you 😊. I don't have much time at the moment, I might continue the tutorials in the future 😉.
Perfect beginner tutorial video.
I only have so many words- so know that every word is genuine in praise.
Just a question though-
Where did you learn to rope dart?
I'm just curious if it's possible for me to learn to be self taught or if I have to get a professional instructor for it. Because I highly doubt there is one at all in my country.
Thanks for you praise ☺️. I am indeed self-taught. I've learned a lot through UA-cam videos and just experimenting with the rope dart.
I don't know why but i was always drawn to this one. While putting my dogs away I noticed that the leash made of rope with a metal bit felt like this weapon. I tried a few things and it felt oddly... natural. Like im not forcing anything, just working with something that exists.
Think im gonna make one and see what i think.
Just starting the rope dart and found this video very helpful thank you. 1 question, where does the flag go on the dart?
i think it's attatched to the keyrings? thats how i'm doing it anyway
bro really said "GET OVER HERE"
Very good tutorial, I want to learn. Do you live in Thailand?
Thank you! No, I don't live in Thailand.
How did you attach the rope to the tennis ball before wrapping it in duct tape?
Man I wanna learn rope dart
Kinda reminds me of the tutorials I would watch when learning yo-yo tricks
what is the red cloth near the dart part for?
Presenting: the moon hammer.
It is a foot long log, about 6 inches thick, tied to a rope. Very heavy. I have made one and used it before in practice, it is not graceful in any way, as it works through sheer brute force. It managed to break a small wooden garden bridge in one hit.
Far out...🙏
Also what kind of rope would you recommend since I don’t have any martial arts shops near where I am (I tried Home Depot but didn’t know which rope would work). Thank you
Hey, I would recommend cotton braided rope, ca. 8 mm thick 😉
@@Vultimo thank you again, I’ll look for this kind now
"First of all, the rope and the dart has two parts: the rope and the dart"
I’m not going to stop learning this until I’m Scorpion
I'm not allowed to have weapons because I got in trouble but I still worry about people trying to fuck with family
So I've started training something similar to this for fun mine is home made outta simple logging tools I have handy.
I'm curious what weight I should have the end
Mines very similar to yours but I used a carabiner and just a chain linked through it a few times.
Never heard of these things existing I heard my rope sound like a whip and slapped one together lol
Hi is there any way to purchase this online? or do you know any site to purchase it? i would love to learn this.
I actually built this meteor hammer myself, as you can see at the end of the video. However, you can also purchase a meteor hammer or rope dart online, there are many martial arts shops online that offer them 😉
Gogo needs to learn from him.
Excellent tutorial!!! I've been trying to learn meteore hammer for long time e ago but I haven't succeeded. I believe you teach the first movements so Cleary. So, I wonder if you cood teach me more techniques. I've been copying a Chinese video and it is so hard to understand how it works each movement.
I practice wushu from 2012 and I think this is my favorite weapon.
Thank you for your comment 😄. I'd love to continue doing instructional videos on the meteor hammer, I might continue during the summer 😉.
That sounds great!!!!!thanks
👍
not a martial artist but always thought this was a cool weapon, is it safe for a total beginner to pick up a training dart and start following your moves?
I would suggest you start with a safe version of the meteor hammer where you only tie a tennis ball to a cotton rope. Once you've got a bit more practice, you can increase the weight of the tennis ball by adding some coins (and closing it properly) 😉
I used to do this as a kid with a washing line and a hubcap. never did too well and got smacked in the head many times. pals used to joke I was trying to become a superhero called Hubcapman.
Hey, i just got into meteor hammer and realized that you should probably use gloves, what gloves do you use?
Hi, glad you've started meteor hammer! In the beginning, I started using fingerless bicycle gloves but actually you want to protect the whole of your lead hand index finger as your index finger will be in constant contact with the rope.
If you are serious about meteor hammer, I'd recommend to not use gloves though, since then you'll be able to build up a small amount of callous on your fingers that you'll need. Also be sure to use soft cotton rope that's not too abrasive to your fingers.
Hey one question i hope ur still here but could you use a chain as a replacement for the rope?
Yeah, I'm still here 😉
I wouldn't recommend using a chain since the rope has to slide through your hands which a chain cannot. However, some people in the fire spinning community use a short chain directly connected to the head end since it would be lit on fire, but as far as I know, not the whole rope would be a chain.
Special knot's called bowline
Ah, great, nice to know 😄
Would these techniques transfer to the kusarigama?
I am trying to make foam weapons to spar with friends and maybe transfer into the real weapon on my own and I was just wondering how different the technique would be
I'm not sure if these techniques would also apply to the kusarigama since the kama probably behave differently when thrown/shot out.
But I think it would be a lot of fun nonetheless to make a foam kusarigama and try these techniques 😁
I just relised that it works something like flyfishing
Hey can you show one on how to tie the red cloth onto the dam rope lol
I didn't tie it to the rope, instead there is a hole in the middle of the cloth and it's just hand stitched to the rope ;)
@@Vultimo I gotta hand stich it ?
i made one of these "dart rope" with rope lots and lots of paper in to a ball and layered the paper ball with tape and i made this without knowing about this weapon and i thought i created a new weapon😅
i hope you train all this on both sides of your body.
So I should take this giant spike off the end of the rope and use the tennis ball as I’m just learning huh…
Annd the zombie apocalypse non-firearm weapon of choice goes to...
is this a useful weapon at all? 🤔
It's fking insane, have you seen Scorpio from Mortal Kombat?
@@MonkeyD.aarush yeah bro I also take life lessons from video games 💀
i am absolutely torn up about how ineffective it would be against other weapons. so sad how it isnt a practical combat weapon.
Imma become Scorpion now
Сам повесился на этой веревке
Bowline
Oh, nice. I was about to ask what it was. Thx.
