    I like it when it´s a teacher who does it simple, direct and down to earth. These arrogant teachers who wants their students/audience to feel inferior and themselves superior are terrible.

    Damn, this is super frustrating. I can't seem to get the timing down - the dart usually just ends up wrapped around my foot and getting tangled as I do the kick. I've managed to do it a couple of times but mostly I'm still just a mess. The first part is easy, but the part where you bring your left foot around still eludes me.

    Hey, I recently discovered rope dart and all your tutorials, they're fantastic! Thanks for all your hard work :)
    Regarding foot shots specifically, I have a couple of questions. Is it meant to feel like you're kicking the dart? I currently have them inconsistently and it happens so fast. When it does work, it feels less like the knee shot kind of snap launch and more like a half catch half kick. And secondly, are we aiming to catch the rope with the ball of the foot or towards the ankle?
    Thanks!

    • @FlowMayhem
      @FlowMayhem  3 роки тому

      Hey! I actually made another tutorial on foot shots called “foot shots a closer look” and that video should answer some of these questions with visuals. The rope contacts the top of our foot, (not the dart itself) and you kick the rope, not the dart. Email me if you are still stuck! flowmayhem@gmail.com

    So far my main issue with this move is when I go to do that shot the rope entangles my ankle or foot

    • @FlowMayhem
      @FlowMayhem  5 років тому +1

      that used to happen to me. I feel like it was often either because I was kicking the dart before pulling it in front of me. Are you doing the regular one or the one where you pivot 180 degrees?

    • @victoriamoore5497
      @victoriamoore5497 5 років тому +1

      I’m just doing the regular one

    • @FlowMayhem
      @FlowMayhem  5 років тому +3

      @@victoriamoore5497 for sure. yeah then I say break down the step where you pull dart dart in front of you with your foot, and make sure you are extending your leg AFTER you can see that it is in front of you. I also notice that sometimes people try to do all the steps at once without doing them slowly, and one by one a couple of times. slowing down the process will show you why your dart is getting caught.

  • @amyguthrie1372
    @amyguthrie1372 6 років тому

    Thanks for this tutorial!! One thing I've been struggling with that you might be able to shed some light on is the shot not coming out clean due to what I think is either the rope not being taught enough or something I'm not doing with my lead hand - can you elaborate on what you're doing with each hand and how taught you're making it/positions as your doing the shot that might help? I first started catching it with my foot closer to the dart, but when viewing the Shaolin film I noticed he was hooking it as you are (a little further up - which also makes sense with fire!) and once I started doing that is when I was having issues properly grabbing it with my foot and with the accuracy of the shot. Thanks! (Let me know if you need me to clarify any of this). I have footage as well I could send.

    • @amyguthrie1372

    I have a question about your grip switch but I don’t know if it’s more appropriate for the Patreon page. It looks like, after catching the leash underhanded and when you are transitioning to an overhand grip (1:43 - 1:55) it looks like you are doing two different transitions... one where the leash ends up under your wrist and the second one *over* your wrist. I think I understand and can do the second, but how are you getting the underhand to overhand grip with the leash UNDER your wrist?
    By the by, fantastic videos. I have been inspired by your demos and instructionals to pick up rope dart and am enjoying it quite a lot. Thank you! :)

    • @FlowMayhem
      @FlowMayhem  5 років тому +2

      Praxx Gray yes! Generally, right before I toss the rope under my leg, I have an underhand grip. When I catch the rope after I have tossed it, I catch it with an overhead grip! It’s not necessary to do this, but I do prefer it. I didn’t want to over define how people should do it, but I’m glad you noticed that subtle change!

    • @FlowMayhem
      @FlowMayhem  4 роки тому

      Luiz G. Lopez yeah that used to happen to me all the time. I think if you hook the dart closer to the dart head, there won’t be enough rope for it to get tangled. When I hook it, my foot is almost touching the dart head. It’s also super important to hook it slowly, to make sure that the rope ends up on the correct part of our foot. So often people rush that step and end up getting frustrated, but I say the slower the better until it feels comfortable!
