I had a coworker who claimed to be Christian. So Christian in fact that she uses tarot cards, dowsing rods, practices pyromancy, communes with spirits, thinks is funny or cute that her friend is getting visits from a demon calling itself Azazel, laughing off my concern at said visits saying she taught her friend all the most powerful runes and wards to protect her from evil spirits, denies everything about the Bible and Jesus, and refuses to answer the question "What defines a Christian in your mind?" I owe her a debt of gratitude. She taught me to be way more discerning when someone says they're Christian.
Dito! Some of the professing Christians I have come across - one was also a tarot card reader, another was studying astrology while studying the Bible, and one was reading the Bible and following an Indian guru. This is no joke. Same...just because someone can quote Scripture verses and has a sweet smile means nothing to me. Discernment!
They really do! She did a great job to spotlight some of the common ideas and beliefs we all run into. Words matter and it's sad that these kinds of things are called Christianity.
One of my favorite quotes I first heard from the movie tortured for Christ about Richard Wurmbrand. Here is his quote “There are two kinds of Christians: those who sincerely believe in God and those who, just as sincerely, believe that they believe. You can tell them apart by their actions in decisive moments.”
I look at it as the "Loving Jesus and trying my best to be like Him" Christians and the "I can do whatever I want because Jesus already pre- paid for all my sins" Christians. The second variety are kind of hard to take.
The church I started going to recently has been very biblically sound and straightforward, which has shown me how much my previous church felt more like weekly motivational Ted talks. It's astonishing to see the difference
There is an Indian family that runs the little motel in the little town I live in. I was talking to the father and he said he was Hindu but he believed only Jesus was God. It was the strangest conversation I have ever had about religion.
I grew up "non-denominational" Evangelical and was taught the same stuff just to a lesser extreme. Halloween, Smurfs, and anything else kids liked were deemed "demonic". My mom told me that Halloween was originally when druids extorted gifts from houses in exchange for not killing their children.
I grew up in a Church of God in Christ (COGIC) church and went to a non-denominational Christian school and I was told that Halloween, the Easter bunny, and Santa Claus were all evil. Luckily for me though, my mom did let me enjoy the Smurfs lol.
@@UrsahSolar Well if you think about it. The smurfs all have white hats and the papa smurf has a red had. That is a direct link to the KKK. They are all white pointy hats and the leader of the KKK has a red hat. Also, the names of the evil characters in the smurfs all have Jewish Hebrew names which is supposed to be anti-sematic. I wasn't JW but I used to be a heavy conspiracy theorist and this is what I was told. Although I am a full believer in Jesus ONLY now, I still can't help but think it's true about the smurfs. Hollywood has been known to be anti-sematic, which is silly, because most of them come from Jewish families.
@@CuteSceneChic Yeah, I've heard that now that you mention it. I've always enjoyed conspiracy theories. If the smurfs are neo-nazis, that would make them neo-pagans too. Alternatively, the WatchTower org picked some innocuous worldly thing out of a hat and decided to fearmonger about it. That way the JW's are kept constantly insecure and are therefore dependant on the organization's ok on every little thing.
What's sad is this is all so true. Christian is such a loose term nowadays. There's a difference between what the world views as Christian and biblically based Christianity. Bible believing Christian ♥️

@@valarmorghulis4801 It's a good thing it's ok for us to disagree between ourselves because the followers of Jesus have been disagreeing on doctrinal details since day one. Back before the now Catholic church was organized there were groups of Jesus followers who believed all kinds of different things. Jesus died....Jesus didn't actually die....Jesus was celibate and sex is a sin....Jesus was married and sex is a celebration if life..... Jesus was condemned to death but a look-alike was crucified instead of him....Jesus was a spirit who never had a physical body to start with... and on and on. The idea of the virgin birth was tacked on to the story decades after the crucifixion. Jesus was trying to upgrade Jewish teachings to prepare the Jews for the end of the world, but Saul if Tarsus ( who never actually met Jesus) took over the Jesus movement and added in teachings Jesus and His Apostles did not teach, and expanded the teachings from Jews only to the Gentiles so that the Roman Empire could use the religion to control the masses. Basically Christianity has always always been a very mixed bag.
The video started out as hillarious and then it became more and more tragic as it went on. I was just hoping there would be one genuine Christian that you would interview. Isn't it tragic that this is the reality of what many people's idea of Christianity is.

Pagan... Meaning the religion or custom of that place. So that does make everything pagan even JW, new agers and Christians. Unfortunately people hear the word pagan and associate it with the satanic and devil worship. Its very misunderstood word.
This satire is devastatingly true though. I remember something chilling a youth pastor told us during a youth gathering back when I was in youth group as a teenager. He said that on the day of judgement, there's going to be *a lot* of surprised "Christians". And there's no do overs at that point.
It is true. Jesus himself said the way to Heaven is very narrow. Scary, yes. But that's all the reason why we should try and do what God wants us to do

We make a judgment (gathering info, processing and comparing to the truth) of their beliefs, then we guide them on the right path with love.
Always wise! Sometimes I say to people, "Allow me to test your faith," and then see if I can get the gospel out of that person. Most Christians are abysmal at explaining the gospel....

I was rooting for the 4th one 😭 lol it is absolutely frustrating though trying to find a brother / sister who holds close to biblical truths. Lord help us 🙏🏾
Anit that the truth😒 I truly believe that we're either living just before or passing the threshold into the times spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. Just as an example; during the 20th century, America has portrayed themselves as, more or less, predominantly Christian and the world widenedly considers most if not all Americans Christian in some way. Ever since the 21st century began, America, in my opinion, could be considered as "falling from the faith".
@@TheRougeShiharen - Truthfully, America has never been too much a picture of Christ, as it has been a caricature of Christ. America has been in trouble pretty much since the day of it's founding, and coming out of a long legacy of heresy.
I will never forget asking my lds primary teacher if I was saved and her responding “yes, but with conditions.” Even as a kid, I knew that sounded and felt wrong.
I was the last character for the longest time. I went to church every week and volunteered because it made me feel good. Brought my Bible everywhere (almost never opened it) and was excited my church was big and loved it's "perks." I stopped going to church for quite a while and still don't really go. I'm trying to find myself again in Christ. It's been hard but He's helping me through it.
I was that one until middle of High School. I've thought of it as the "faith of the parents" view, where you take some buzzwords from them and mix it with all the stuff being taught to us by the world. I'm guessing a lot of people who grew up going to church can relate with that. It wasn't until going through catechism in an ELCA church and our pastor teaching us about Luther that drove me to dive into scripture for myself. After reading start to finish, the church I attended got a new pastor who just told personal stories. I got my driver's license and started attending a church about 45 minutes away on my own (sometimes I could get friends or my brother to come with), because they were teaching from the text. It is crazy how God uses all things to direct his people.
During a very tough time in my life, my faith was greatly strengthened when I started to study God's attributes by just going through the Bible and writing down all His characteristics I came across. It really made me see what a complex, and holy, and majestic God He is, and what an honor it is to be called His child. I also made a list each day of everything I had to be thankful for, knowing that it all comes from Him. It was a very humbling and spiritually rewarding study that I would highly recommend! I'll pray that God blesses your time reading your Bible, and directs your path forward as you try to honor Him. ❤️
You are not alone. I've spent most of my life being part of the "Christian club." I only felt comfortable at larger churches who spent almost a full hour on "worship music" and 30 mins on the "sermon" with just a few scripture references. I think I finally got it through my thick skull- church is not supposed to be a form of entertainment, AND the worship music isn't for me to get something out of it- it's for Our Lord Jesus.
Yeah, big/mega churches definitely have some nice perks, but the doctrine in those churches makes it a breeding ground for false converts. Some mega churches have more sound doctrine than others, but even those churches have really big doctrinal issues.
And then there are “Christians” who think they are Christians simply because they joined church, got baptized, and maybe said the sinner’s prayer…but nothing else has changed in their lives or their behavior. So they wouldn’t know how to answer your questions either. Lord help us all. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

They used the Bible to twist into something that's not true. That's why we have to test every spirit to discern whatever they're experiencing is real or fake.
There are a lot of “Christians” these days. It’s really frustrating. Great video. Made me realize how tight my circle of true servants of Christ is. It’s only about 3 people. Can’t find a church that’s not scared of this beast system and the corona. Blessings in Christ Jesus
Really? That's awful. I live in a crazy leftist-ran state, and there are a few churches in my area who have been standing up against the crazy mandates. However, finding a traditional, more fundamentalist church- took a lot more searching. Praying you find a healthy church near you.

Almost spit out my coffee when she said "SMURFS." Ha! Here's one for you, an exchange I had on FB with a neighbor: I teach a faith-based dance fitness class at a local church. We don't charge, we take donations and view it as a ministry to the ladies in our local area. A neighbor of mine teaches yoga and offered to come to our class and lead a yoga practice. I kindly told her that adding another fitness format would be against our culture (culture of the company whose format we teach) and wouldn't fit with our group because we are Christians. She told me, "Oh, I don't know if you know, but I'm Presbyterian, but I haven't been in the church for a while. But in my classes, I try to be more agnostic because I have many Hindu and Buddhist friends who attend. So I try to be more agnostic." I couldn't believe it-- no true Christian walking with the Lord would say "I try to be more agnostic."
Nor would a christian practice yoga in the first place, since yoga is a religious practice of another religion. It's incompatible with a faith in the one true God.
Ms. Melissa, I enjoy learning from your knowledge of the Gospels and as I continue to learn every time I read my Bible, the most important thing I’ve learned so far is the silent prayer. Being still in the presence of God changed my heart to pure love. No more worry, no more anger, no more ego. I live in the moment with God. Be blessed.
My sister in law is the New Ager. Literally word for word. I have to really control myself when she starts going on her 'spiritual' tangents..because every fiber of my being wants to laugh in her face. 🤣 I mean, she can't actually be serious, can she??
She's probably influenced by those "spiritual guides" in social media who's dabbling into Tarot cards and crystals. All of those people say the same thing. You need to tell her that her understanding is way off and start telling her the facts bit by bit. At least that's what I did when I was in her place a year ago.
Hang in there, control yourself.. I went down that path too. And its draining, for there is no true life in it. Sooner or later she will get exhausted and will turn to Christ and God. Living without God is a destructive path that ends in death in the end... Spirituality just keeps your head above the water but the Bible is the real nourishment for the soul. Reading Isaiah opened my eyes. Isaiah 57:20-21, Mat. 20:11 But it can happen that she will never turn around : isaiah 57:10

I have noticed that there are seemingly no Mormon missionaries coming across to the UK from USA these last lot of years and I am wondering why this is ? There are very few, infrequent door to door visits from the JWs also . Perhaps these religions are aware that more and more people can now find out information concerning them via the internet and therefore are better placed to ask them tricky questions ?
I have an acquaintance who served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently in the UK just last yr but she was only there a few months. Perhaps coronavirus restrictions have lessened the amount of missionaries going there.
It's sad that that's the way we're viewed tbh. I'm LDS myself, I love my faith. It's hard because I feel like a lot of us dont truly understand the whole point of the church. So Christian in fact that she uses tarot cards, dowsing rods, practices pyromancy, communes with spirits, thinks is funny or cute that her friend is getting visits from a demon calling itself Azazel, laughing off my concern at said visits saying she taught her friend all the most powerful runes and wards to protect her from evil spirits, denies everything about the Bible and Jesus, and refuses to answer the question "What defines a Christian in your mind?"
I owe her a debt of gratitude. She taught me to be way more discerning when someone says they're Christian.
Wow. Well apparently the black magic bible does speak of a Jesus. satan most definitely believes in the one true Lord Jesus Christ.

I grew up JW before being saved in my twenties. I lost it when she said "everything is pagan.... SMURFS!" I remember those stories from my childhood.
Wait, are you serious about the smurfs?
That way the JW's are kept constantly insecure and are therefore dependant on the organization's ok on every little thing.

But in my classes, I try to be more agnostic because I have many Hindu and Buddhist friends who attend. So I try to be more agnostic." I couldn't believe it-- no true Christian walking with the Lord would say "I try to be more agnostic."
So many don’t understand that Practicing Yoga is practicing Hinduism! So sad! We need more education in the churches about this!
Thanks for sharing!
@@christincommon5496 it's not if you're only doing the exercises. But if you're practicing it as a religious thing/lifestyle then it is.
Nor would a christian practice yoga in the first place, since yoga is a religious practice of another religion. It's incompatible with a faith in the one true God.
Good.
As long as you judged her.
@@epic7224 any Yogi will tell you that it is impossible to separate the poses from the worship. It’s not exercise.
Be blessed.
I literally just experienced this with two false christians of different stripes. Mormon and a New Ager. Everything said here is spot on.
Yeah one of my good friends is Mormon and I've tried to convince him that Jesus is God and that Joseph Smith is not a prophet but he just won't budge.
My sister in law is the New Ager. Literally word for word. I have to really control myself when she starts going on her 'spiritual' tangents..because every fiber of my being wants to laugh in her face. 🤣 I mean, she can't actually be serious, can she??
It would be good to practice meekness with her
She's probably influenced by those "spiritual guides" in social media who's dabbling into Tarot cards and crystals.
But it can happen that she will never turn around : isaiah 57:10
God bless you! Jesus loves you all so much!
I legitimately was rolling my eyes and pulling out my hair with some of your characters, well done.
God Bless you Melissa.
I'm close to someone who has that. It's called Trichotillomania. I feel bad for anyone who has that.
I knew the second would be a Mormon when you said "she's sooo nice."
As a former JW, this is too accurate of a description of the JW cult. 😂😂😂😂 Thank you for the laugh!
Story of my life growing up in the South and now here in Arizona. Everyone claims to be Christian but most don’t care what the Lord says about what we do with our lives. He’s not their authority, their King, their Lord, God’s just someone up there whom they try to use for their own vain reasons.
You'll meet many people who claim to be christians but have secular worldview and haven't been to church in years
Yes when we have an idea about God that's not biblical it's idolatry bec we've made up a god to suit ourselves.
Thank you, sister. You are really helpfull, God bless you and your family. May God protect you from any harm and danger, my sister in Christ.
We have been corrupting...I mean correcting it 😀
“That’s not his last name” 😂
Cracks me up lol
You do such a good job at these videos!
Born and raised LDS. Thank you for the great laughs-you got it right! Also has many aspects of the others. It’s nice to find some humor in our 20year long process of heartbreak.
Excellent! You are such a good teacher and I recognized most of them from watching your videos! ❤️
This is great! And scarily on point. So glad there are still people out there sharing the actual truth.
I was watching this thinking oh wow sounds like the mormons (I used to be one) and then I read the description hahaha
Mormon is an inaccurate term. We're members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
They just use it to brag about how righteous they are.
Also- everyone's too friendly- like overly friendly and they dont think before they speak 👀😂
I wanna pray for them always Thank you Jesus! I pray for LDS/Mormons that you can truly repent and find Christ
I always look forward to your vidoes for knowledge, and they are so well put together. Thankyou Mrs. Dougherty.
I must use the word, brilliant! You were spot on. Please continue doing these. The satire illuminates the truth. Bless you!
That was really clever and good! You did a good job at showing how much deception there is. I unfortunately see this in my family.
I am just now coming out of new age and ran back to Christ. I just want to thank you for your content! Your videos have helped me in so many ways of understanding 💚
This is so true and sad at the same time. It hurts my heart because I was once a new age/progressive "Christian" and honestly without God I don't know how I would've gotten out. I don't know if I was truly seeking Him when I was new age, but I do know He's the reason why I'm truly seeking Him now.
