The algorithm placed you on my page so being an Olympus user, looked at your video. Have subscribed. I’ve tried the handheld long exp on my OM-5. Didn’t exactly work, so after viewing this, will try again! Thanks Leigh.
@@trishf29 good luck, and practice definitely makes perfect! Not sure if the OM-5 includes the hand held assist feature but for me it really helps out and let's me do some crazy things that on any other system a tripod would be needed!
@ OK. Thanks for checking. It’s not really necessary as can handhold down to 2 seconds, otherwise use a tripod and slow shutter speed, the old way! Since I live inland in Australia, there’s not too many waterfalls or good lakes with big waves around! Many thanks again.
Here I was proud of 3 seconds. Does the 12-100 have in lens stabilization? Either way, 30 second is pretty damn impressive. I can't do less than 1/30th of a second on my sony. Just another reason I love my OM-1
12-100 is stabilised with sync so you get the full 8.5 stops of stability. Couple that with some practice and the hand held assist and it's a killer combo!
Hi Leigh, that hand held assist is off the scale mate, such a handy option to have on the camera, I do like using filters, but when you're caught short or want to catch a quick scene with light that is not going to last while you get your filters out etc, then being able to hand hold a long exposure is a game changer.
HI Leigh thanks for doing this!!! I've heard that with the dual is lens like the 12-100 pro you have, really long handheld exposures are possible. I have a em1 mk iii and with un stabilized lenses i can get about 8 sec exposures. Do you know if these long exposures times are possible with my em1 with the dual IS sync? i'm very interested in this and maybe the 12-100 pro is in my future. Also what times are possible with the om1 mkii without the dual IS? thanks!!!
Yes, the MK3 will work great with the 12-100 too! Maybe not quite as long as with the om-1 but you'll still be able to get great long exposure shots with it 👍
It's probably my elderly ears, but your voice sounded muffled and hard to resolve, and when I turned it up, the music was too loud. I probably need that hearing aid I'm avoiding.. otherwise, interesting, thanks.
I wear hearing aids, late 70s. I found the video was only slightly muffled, the music didn’t bother me, so thoroughly recommend digital hearing aids! It’s amazing what you miss! They make life so much better. Cheers from Oz.
The IS assist is a gamechanger but that 30 second exposure is superb!
Thank you Joe! If I wasn't so cold I'm sure I could have gone longer!
Very impressive at 8 seconds ... 30 seconds?? Wow!!!!!
Thank you 😊

@@LeighWPhotos Well, it says it does, under the Live ND function. There is a Handheld option with High Res. Am I getting confused!!!
@trishf29 yeah that's different - it's called handheld assist. Might have a Google to see if it's on the on-5 😁
@trishf29 just had a look and it's not on the om-5 unfortunately 😕

Great video Leigh lovely photos and great tips for the long exposure thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks John! Glad it was of use to you!
Nice video. Stabilization really is insane.
Thank you! It really is! If I wasn't so cold I think I could have managed even more but there's a limit when you're starting to frost over!

@@LeighWPhotos I got that lens in a trade but traded it in for the 40-150. Kind of wish I had kept it now

It really is amazing - if it wasn't so cold that morning I'm pretty certain I could have gone longer still!

Thank you! Audio is an awkward one to get right but I keep trying!

My hearing aids have bluetooth. Sounds OK to me. They're NHS by the way. A useful option.
