If Clara was shot right in front of 12, I'm not sure he could keep his cool to stop it detonating, his "The Doctor is no longer here" speech to Ashildr would do it. Yet at the same time, the Doctor sort of managed to for 4.5 billion years before he let everything out in Hellbent.
Depends on if it's early 12clara or late 12clara imo. In S8 I think he's fine? In S9, uh, the bomb breaks.
The 12th Doctor would create a time paradox in destroying Villengard before the 9th Doctor got around to it.
I remember one person surmised it as 7 placed the landmine himself to manipulate Ace into staying with him after the last time he betrayed and gaslighted her again.
On one hand, the War Doctor is absolutely looking for an excuse to die.
On the other hand, I don’t think that the *War* Doctor is going to step on a landmine to begin with. He walks in and it’s a nice break from the even worse hellscape of the Time War, somehow.
12 would stay just calm enough, then Clara would get shot and the whole planet goes boom.
The mine starts beeping faster, 5 starts panicking, Adric turns to the camera, "Now I'll never know if I was right."

I know Leela definitely wouldn't have gotten shot because once that girl told her to shoot her, she would have done it without hesitation
I'd like to think that Donna and 10 would be 10 stepping on the mine and Donna starts to panic which makes 10 panic and try to calm her down and they blow up in 2 seconds.
Or they spend too much time bickering and run out of time. Or Donna would hit his arm for saying something and would make him move and blow up

Peri would then survive cause it'd turn out to be a simulation by the Rani to show Peri that the Doctor wouldn't die for her and then Peri would kill 6 with gun but it would turn out the gun was actually a stun gun and then they'd just continue travelling together and bicker and bicker.
Show 6 definitely would, but audio 6 wouldn’t.

“It’s the first episode of RTD 2 that I liked” THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH, It’s such a return to form. For both Moffat and RTD. Everything thus far before it has a weird triviality to it but boom and 73 yards manage to encapsulate the silly yet serious tone of early new who.

Boom, the only good ep so far if I'm honest. Ncuti stole the show here! He really felt like THE DOCTOR. Funny, charismatic, cocky, badass, brave, political but also grounded. Perfect mix of character that made him finally feel well-written to me.
The way I burst out laughing as soon as y'all said Adric, Tegan, and Nyssa.

I think 11 stands way more of a chance so long as River is there- as prone as he is to tantrums, she can usually talk him down
River would probably solve it within 10 minutes, if she’s with Amy and Rory then it’s an easy win. It’s just keeping 11 calm enough.
What about the war doctor?
Answer: the landmine is sentient and takes pity on him cos he looks so sad and is having a rough time of it
In truth, 9 and War probably need assistance the most and do not make it in-time before the companion is killed. If they haven't smelted already, they're goners then.
The War Doctor and Case: instant death. Their conversations make 6 and Peri’s look like a civil debate.
Ace would probably start a significantly bigger explosion and blow the mine up.
Seven would convince the mine to blow itself up and spare him.
I would go with:
Literally any Doctor wins instantly if River Song is there. Other than that:
1 / Vicki / Barbara / Ian
2 / Jamie / Zoe (they’d have to ignore Jamie)
3 / Jo
4 / Sarah / Harry

11 / Amy / Rory / River ( I see Amy and River taking charge and being the absolute badasses they are). Also Rory would be helpful.

Rory would switch places with the Doctor, die as always and then he would show up again sometime later

What about the 15th doctor? Would he survive? I think the random musical number that kicks in halfway thought might cause issues for him and Ruby if they were to end up in this situation.
I like this concept: Someone should make a series of how other Doctors would solve particular episodes.
Dack said what, at least I believe, this was the first RTD2 I liked as well.

I liked boom, but for me 73 Yards was the best Episode so far 😀
For Season 1 specifically, I'd agree (although there were elements of The Devil's Chord I liked, such as the full silence sequence ironically but the Maestro felt like a weaker version of The Toymaker which was never scaled down after being dialled up to 11). Personally, I think that Gatwa is one of those actors who always brings the sort of energy to their incarnation that makes me enjoy their appearance regardless of how I feel about the rest of the episode... which is a good thing because a) we're already halfway through the season/series and b) the Next Time trailer for next week's episode doesn't excite me much either.

The slight shift in weight from pulling out the sonic would cause the bomb to go off. That’s why the Doctor doesn’t do it in the episode.

You know what, i completely agree with "This is the first episode of RTD 2 that i liked" every other episode had some good bits that could've led somewhere but didn't and got dragged out and dragged down. While Boom is still only about a 6 MAYBE 5 it's still better than a 3 or a 2 or a 1 that Space Babies The Devil's thingy and Church on Ruby Road got from me. I think it's also a little funny that it was written by Moffat who i dislike much more than RTD.
I agree tho. RTD2 has been very disappointing and honestly didn't feel like Doctor Who. We needed Moffat to give us true Doctor Who again.
How you survived watching that garbage is the real question we're all asking.
