As a 56 year old woman, love cooking, thought I'd nailed a chilli con carne over the years!! Wrong!! Then I tried this after cooking your curries (madras a hubby fave) and we were blown away. Husband actually said it was the best chilli I'd ever done. Had to fess up of course and admit I got the recipe off you Al lol! In fact, husband now comes to your channel to get ideas for his popadom salads, and he uses those now. So a big thank you for helping me bring a smile to hubs face (he's a victor meldrew lol). still working my way through your curry recipes, but always have the base gravy at the ready in my freezer. Can't believe how easy they all are. once you have your base gravy, you are literally talking minutes to throw a delicious curry dish together. Love the way you are also showcasing other family meals, like this one. Keep em coming, and to anyone thinking of trying this, go for it, you are in for a taste explosion!!

Al I just made this chilli con carne and it was gorgeous!, I used the cinnamon like you said and it gave it a lovely taste, thanks so much for these recipes, you have enriched my life of food so much, I’ve tired so many of your curry’s as well and I’m getting good at them now thanks to your teaching methods.
I’m going to try your beef madras tomorrow :-)
    Thanks again Al

Well, i made this chilli recipe this evening and it's a yes from me! Only thing i did differently was less kidney beans, 1 tin of tomatoes and one chicken stock which I've never put in before! The cinnamon stick is a game changer. Just wow. Delicious!

Will try the cinnamon next time I make this though will continue to add about 4-6 squares of dark chocolate to mine and can recommend this as it adds a silky texture to the dish and this sticks to the roof of you mouth when eating it.

Pretty much identical to the way I cook mine except I use knorr beef cubes and the final magic ingredient at the end - a chunk of dark chocolate as it makes it richer and more velvety. Give it a try next time. keep up the good work.

I haven't a clue what the problem is with adding cinnamon to chilli? It''s fantastic. Nice recipe, although personally I am way over mince and prefer to use brisket for a bigger depth of flavour. Made your Chicken Bhuna on the weekend and it was sublime.
